אולם, השמות הללו: נגלה, נסתר, אינם שמות קבועים, החלים על סוגים של ידיעות מסויימות, כפי שההמון חושב, אלא הם חלים רק על התודעה של האדם, כלומר, כל הידיעות שכבר הספיק לגלותם ולהכירם, מתוך התנסות ממשית, מכונים אצל האדם בשם "נגלה". וכל הידיעות שעדיין לא הגיע לבחינת הכרה כזו, מכונים אצלו בשם "נסתר".
באופן שאין לך אדם בכל הדורות והזמנים, שלא יהיה לו שני החילוקים הללו, כשבחלק הנגלה שלו מותר לו לעיין ולחקור, מתוך שיש לו בסיס ממשי. ובחלק הנסתר לו, אסורה עליו אפילו איזו שמץ של חקירה, מתוך שאין לו שם בסיס ממשי. -בעל הסולם פרי חכם
