White Supremacy? This makes no sense
Why bring race into this?? I started listening in hopes of finding information on constructive discipline and then it turned to white supremacy..?

Evolved Away From Parenting Advice
I first started listening to this podcast because it offered actionable and evidence based parenting advice. Since then it’s evolved into commentary on systemic problems from a social justice angle. If that’s your thing, great, but if you’re using this as a parenting guide you’re going to be teaching your kids a victimhood mindset. It’s not going to be super helpful for me packing a school lunch or booking activities for my own kid when the creator spends half the podcast explaining that everything is white supremacy. Look, capitalism exists, we still need to parent within it.

being a listener
i love this podcast when i can keep up with it , i often have to go back just to understand what she’s saying , really wish she would take a breather between sentences. it literally sounds like she just running through what she’s giving . a little irritating to listen to sometimes but i love the information. like take your time reading and responding makes my head hurt lol

wonderful content!
I’m a toddler teacher and a passionate student of RIE, and I love the way Jen approaches difficult subjects and digs into the research as well. I studied Feminisr Studies in undergrad and deeply appreciate her dedication to parenting in an anti-oppressive, anti-racist, feminist way. The only qualm I have is that sometimes Jen talks so fast that it feels a little frenetic listening, and sometimes I turn to Janet Lansbury when I’m wanting a more mellow podcast. I love both podcasts though!

Great Advice
Lots of straightforward, easy to understand advice any parents can use.

Good info; not always super accessible
Great information, and ripe with sound academic research. The format is reading a pre-written script that often sounds like a paper, and is read so incredibly fast that it’s challenging to follow, even when research is your jam. The sentences are edited so close together, there’s not even a breath between them. The pace of reading written materials (not casual conversation which can be absorbed more quickly) really impairs the accessibility of this otherwise interesting podcast. (Also lots of advertisements for the programming the host offers.)

Much more than parenting,..
This podcast is about parenting in the best way, it is about being a better human. Yes, so you end up raising a better human, but you have to evolve and understand all these fairly complicated things. She gets the most knowledgeable and interviews them extremely well. I share it often, with other mothers and fathers, sometimes my own. It is full of very important subjects dealt with in the appropriate, thoughtful and really, amazing way. Thank you!

Best Thing I Ever Did for My Kids
Listening to this podcast is the best thing I ever did for my kids. It has truly helped me become a better parent. I love Jen!

Boring, woowoo parenting
Be less controlling, sign up for this class, let you kids lead. They know what they need... no that why they are kids they need us to help guide and explore their world. I’m pretty progressive and am a parent. Just can’t stand this de-colonize you parenting. I know, oppression is terrible. But this seems to be the new buzz word. It’s totally vague, if you want me to parent with care or empower agency, give me some examples. Drop some skills or strategies or tools or something anything. Circle around and around on these vague progression terms and ideas serves no one.

Research-based Parenting Information
This podcast cuts through all the parenting noise to present the actual research on parenting. The host doesn’t just share her perspective or feelings on a topic but rather does extensive research and conducts in-depth interviews with experts. Highly recommend!

Love love love Jen
I love Jen’s podcasts, it helped my family in ways that “thank you” is simply not enough. The podcast requires lots of researching, reading and tons and tons of hours. the information we get in one podcast is saving us parents many months worth of reading and failed trials not to mention we most likely not even get to most of the science based researches. Not to mention the trial and errors that we saved my daughter from and went directly to the approach that works best for our family- thanks to Jen’s various researches. such us- potty training, choosing schools, etc...... just to mention a couple. I’ve learned so much and saw many positive changes on my daughter ( and my self) forever grateful to this podcast.

The science based parenting podcast everyone needs
To preface this - I’m a nanny, not a parent. But I have made a career out of being a nanny, and have worked hard to command a fairly demanding wage. I do so by ensuring my caregiving practices are respectful, science based, and deeply researched. This podcast is basically a dream come true - everything you were curious about and didn’t know that you needed to know are on here. I’ve listened to it so much while working that my nanny child perks up happily when she hears the intro music. Please never stop! No other podcaster does what you do.

Finally, some answers to my parenting confusion
Jen’s podcasts, blog, courses and memberships have literally changed my family as well as rewiring my own mentality. I’ve been a fan of positive parenting, RIE, and Montessori approaches for years now but have gotten really mixed messages about what and how to implement parenting strategies with children at various ages or temperaments. Every piece of Jen’s work gives me clarity and a strong resolution about what to focus on and why. I’m finally able to relax and enjoy raising my family with more time for fun instead of always worrying about whether I’m doing enough or if what I say might permanently damage our relationships. I have time at night again to focus on new projects rather than re-researching the same old recurring problems to help get us out of the depths of despair with young children. The children are happier, more independent and get along better than I could have ever expected. I’m endlessly grateful to Jen for the new sense of confidence I have in my own parenting and educational choices for our children. Plus, I can now share her resources when friends and in-laws question my ways instead of stumbling on my words about “something I read somewhere that I think said this would help?”. Best yet, my husband is completely on board, because of how deeply rooted in research-backed her methods are!

Biased
I agree with other reviewers. As a child researcher myself, this podcast is all about feminism, perpetuating the idea of “white guilt,” and very little as actual, scientific, unbiased research. Disappointed.

Very informative
This is an excellent podcast for data driven parenting tips.

Amazing Podcast
Both my husband and I love this podcast. I shared it with my mother as well to help her understand how we raise our son and she is loving the podcast now as well. Strongly recommend.

Clear Liberal, Feminist Bias
I haven't even started it yet, but I saw another reviewer warn others of a "clear liberal and feminist bias." That's all I needed to hear, 5 stars.

Good data but biased
I love the data and continue to watch because I can draw my own conclusions from the data. However, be careful because in some episodes there is a clear liberal or feminist bias.

Hits home time after time.
This podcast makes me wish my kids will never grow up so we can more fully embrace all the stages. It has elevated our parenting to a new level of enjoyment as we work through the ups and downs with better tools and mindset. What will we do when our kids outgrow Jen’s amazing age appropriate topics?! We’ll probably still listen! Thank you for all you do.

My favorite podcast for understanding humans of all ages
I started listening to this podcast when I was pregnant, and despite my daughter only being 18 months now, it’s still my favorite informative podcast to listen too. The respectful and research based information is useful much beyond parenting toddlers, and everyone would benefit from listening to most, if not all, of the episodes. It’s the only podcast where I’m constantly sending episodes to everyone I know.

Best Parenting Information EVER
I deeply appreciate Jen's tireless research and her academic approach. I come away from each episode feeling like I've engaged in a collegiate level discussion on parenting and child development. I also really appreciate her consistent acknowledgement of WEIRD demographics and bias in the studies she discusses and her thorough discussion of race and privilege - so good and so necessary! Along with Alfie Kohn and another podcast, Unruffled, the information that I've metabolized here have led me to adopt a parenting approach that is inspired by RIE and radically different than the models that I've inherited from the culture at large. Radically different in a way that is both challenging but also more philosophically and spiritually resonant with the type of parent/person/family I want to be and create. Thank you!

Really great research
This is a great podcast for parents who are digging deep into respectful parenting and want to know the science behind alot of the decisions we need to make as parents. The host is so thorough and intelligent. I've learned so much about respectful parenting from YPM, and have been connected to many other great resources through it as well. My only critique: I find it distracting how host seems to be reading from her notes. I think it makes it a little hard to listen to, given that each podcast is densely loaded with a lot of information. The amount of the info isnt the problem, just the delivery. I think if it were a recorded with a bit more of a convesational style, or perhaps even broken up into a few different segments, the information would be easier to absorb.

Love this podcast
I love that this podcast challenges me to think critically about why I parent the way I do and how I want to parent in the future. While I don’t line up 100% to this parenting style I love that the episodes are so well researched and I often times find myself bringing up things I learned in random conversations. I am fairly certain this podcast will make me a better parent - especially when my son enters toddlerhood.

Researched, referenced, thoughtful & thought-provoking. So happy i found this podcast!!!
Thank you Jen for all your hard work researching parenting topics that are so important and then condensing that information into accessible chunks that I can listen to in the car/kicthen during my day. My husband is an engineer and very detailed oriented. It's great for me to be able to read some of the research you reference and have stats etc. So often after we have had a discussion about what I have learned on your podcast I am able to send him to the research as well and then we both feel educated. I found your show through The Pregnancy Podcast with Vanessa Marten and I'm thrilled that there are such fabulous resources out there for me to learn from both while I am pregnant and when I have my son (in a few months). Thank you!!!!!

Great for professionals who work with kids or parents-to-be as well!
I am in the process of binge-listening to this podcast and am almost through the whole thing after finding it just a couple of weeks ago! As a child development obsessed person who doesn’t have kids of my own yet, this really gives me my fix. Jen is so thoughtful, clever, thorough, and open-minded in her approach to research and interviewing. I appreciate this project so so very much. Thank you and keep up the great work!! (The only thing I would change is that I think you could ditch the intro/outro)

Scientific parenting methods
This is a very well researched podcast about parenting. It talks about child development theories and how you can integrate into your parenting techniques. Great for educated mamas without much real life parenting experience :-)

Full of great information!
She presents the research in a way that is informative and easy to understand and also summarizes it well so i know what to do with the information. She doesn’t add a lot of “fluff” that I tend to fast forward through in other podcasts but at the same time it’s incredibly interesting and I’m intrigued by all the great information she’s presenting. I’m so grateful I found this podcast!

So grateful for Jen and this podcast!
As a mom of an almost 2-year-old, intending to raise him in the most conscious manner possible, I am so grateful for all of the research and hard work that Jen does to be able to present this information in a way I can easily listen and absorb it. It has made me think and reconsider a lot of things about parenting, school options, and more. It is thought-provoking, entertaining, and so educational. I recommend it tell my parent friends!

Incredible for new parents and even teachers
I am a new parent and teacher. These episodes are wonderfully packed with information that informs best practice for interacting with children that’s backed by data. Also, it’s not “preachy” like some other podcasts which is greatly appreciated. I agree with the RIE approach to parenting but some of the podcasts out there are a little much without showing the data that supports the practice. It’s ideal for me working as an itinerant teacher to listen to this podcast, too!

Best parenting podcast out there!
So many other podcasts are waffle and opinion, but this one is full of important research based information, clearly explained. I find it very useful in relating to my 3 year old son and helping his development. Make sure you have your settings so episodes don't delete after listening as you'll want to refer back to them!
