All aboard
As someone who has been working on a novel over the past year or so, this podcast has provided enormous value. I love the bite size pieces of advice. Dave and Cargill’s conversations are succinct and get you in the right mindset to do what you need to: write.

Worth the Listen
These 15-20 min episodes tackle a range of story related issues- bite sized chunks that give you just enough to think about. I was just recommended by a friend and after listening to a few, am already plan on going back to listen to all I’ve missed. Check it out!

Motivating advice
Stumbled across Cargill on twitter and it’s been one of the best things to happen to me as a writer. His advice on twitter and this podcast is encouraging, meaningful, and sparks the confidence I need to keep on writing. Working on a book now and I know that with this advice I will one day get it finished.

This is a gold mine of information
I’ve been following Robert C on twitter for a while and he’s always been great at throwing me tips and tricks on screenwriting advice. Just started listening the podcast and I love it! Thank you for making this thing exist!

Straightforward and insightful writing wisdom
This is one of my favorite podcasts. Writers pursuing advice can become frustrated by contradictory perspectives from other writers, but Robert C. Cargill is especially grounded in his approach to the craft. David Chen has continued to do a great job with this podcast. Episodes are conveniently paced and only last as long as necessary to deliver new pieces of writing wisdom. Keep up the awesome work, guys!

Very Informative
I find the advice given in the show to be very informative. I am not actually someone who writes creatively very often but since film is my number one passion I like to hear and learn about all aspects of the medium. I do feel sometimes with the expectation of a small run time Dave lets Cargill says whatever he wants to keep the conversation precise even when Dave disagrees or has some problems. I think that is a tough line to master because the premise is Cargill is giving good advice but I think the conversations would get to deeper places if Dave as the audience surrogate interjects counter arguments even just to play the other side even if he doesn't necessarily disagree.

Too many interruptions!!
I absolutely love the information that Cargil spells out in this podcast. It’s invaluable and passionate, and it’s exactly what I need to hear. However, several times throughout each episode, I find myself shouting, “Just let Cargil talk!!!!” David Chen interrupts FAR too many times in every episode. It’s insanely distracting. Cargil gets on a good run of thought, and David pops in to ask for more clarity for the audience, which feels belittling and pandering because it’s clear that he’s the only one who needs more clarity. Overall, I have to assume that we are writers who all listen to this, and interjecting that often ruins the train of thought, especially if it’s something we already understand, or Cargil is literally about to explain himself before being cut off!!! Somebody put a muzzle on David Chen while Cargil is speaking, please!! In this most recent episode about the morals of the story, Cargil was speaking at the end, and David literally interrupted, then, ended the show before Cargil could finish his thought!!! I was on the edge of my seat!! This should be a 5, 6, 7 star show because of Cargil’s vast knowledge and care to share his gained wealth of the craft, but I have to give it a lame 3 because of the numerous, unnecessary interruptions and interjections from David Chen.

Greats, short listen rife with bursts of inspiration
I could listen to Cargill talk about the joys, wonders and technicalities of writing all day. Of course, I don't want to do this because I don't want to stop him (or myself) from writing. As always, David is a fantastic podcast master of ceremonies.

The best screenwriting podcast
Digestible writing tips and words of wisdom round out in 10-20 min episodes of pure screenwriting knowledge. Fun, accessible, and really inspiring. I definitely recommend downloading the back catalogue since all the episodes are short and very resourceful!

Incredible
Already a fan of both of these talents. I really enjoy the advice given on this podcast, it helps structure my life in writing. Also big points for the short run time, I can get through a few episodes during my commute. Thanks Dave and Cargill for the advice.

Sweet, short, digestible bits of invaluable advice!

Excellent Show!
Every week I eagerly await a new episode! Cargill’s lessons are great, and I love how you uses contemporary filmic examples to illustrate his points. Plus, Dave Chen always asks great questions. I’ve learned a lot, while being thoroughly entertained.

Surprisingly good
Honestly the only reason I tried this podcast was because i listen to David on slash film cast and I was looking for something to listen to. I don’t even like writing and I expected that I wouldn’t really enjoy this podcast. However I have found their conversations incredibly interesting and am always wishing the episodes were longer. Even if you don’t particularly care about writing I would strongly recommend you give this a try.

Good stuff
I'm not a big podcast guy, but this one offers practical, bite-sized bits of writing advice with engaging hosts. And the theme music makes me think of the opening credits of "Justified."

Useful tips and encouragement
This is a great pod with bite-sized episodes, each one with useful advice and writing tips from two guys who know movies, love movies, and understand how storytelling works on screen.

Awesome
This podcast is great. C. Robert Cargill really knows what he’s talking about and his passion and for the craft is evident. I love how willing he is to share his knowledge. David Chen is an awesome co-host who knows how to supplement Cargill’s “lecture” with appropriate questions and comments that keeps the whole pod interesting.

What a great resource!
Two masters of their respective crafts collaborating for bite-sized, straight-to-the-point and, most importantly, useful tips on honing your craft when it comes to writing! Dave is a brilliant producer and host that allows for Cargill to shine as a concise, enthusiastic teacher. Really looking forward to more episodes, guys! Keep it up!

Looking Forward to More
Great first episode! I remember Cargill once tweeted about three ways to make the audience like a character. Would love an episode on that — especially to discuss “the character who does something entirely for herself,” since that sounded like the most unconventional of the three.

Writing brilliance, distilled in audio form
C Robert Cargill (@Massawyrm), co-screenwriter (with Scott Derrickson) of Marvel Studios’ DOCTOR STRANGE and Blumhouse’s SINISTER, author of novels DREAMS AND SHADOWS and QUEEN OF THE DARK THINGS, has been a wellspring of writing tips and inspiration on Twitter for some time. His tweets are manuscript manna and a boon to the creative soul. They are also a welcome breath of fresh air for the Dank Web that Twitter can be. The fact that his significant storytelling skills are now being shared in podcast form is an absolute delight, and a potential game-changer for those looking to build their skills. Thank you, David and Cargill! Looking very much forward to future installments! If you want more Cargill talking story, he and Brian Salisbury have a prodigious back catalog of goodness at the JUNKFOOD CINEMA podcast, which is also terrific.

Practical and useful
I love this format. 1 short episode with 1 piece of practical advice per week. Easy to take in, and more important, easy to remember and put into practice. Thanks for this, can’t wait for more.
