Solid horror/mystery audio drama
Solid horror/mystery audio drama thanks to mostly great voice acting and a nicely twisty plot. The main actors are great, with Xander Crow

oldie but goodie
My son was 12 or 13 when he introduced me to this in the early days of podcasting. I’ve never been able to get it out of my head and I just went back for another listen because life got busy and I never finished all the seasons. Addictive, creepy, and frequently very funny. And great theme music.

Awesome show!
I’m late to the game but I love it. I just recently found this show but it’s been my favorite part of the day to binge wormwood after work, while I do the otherwise boring tasks around the house. I hope there’s more on the way!

Don’t let first impressions turn you off
This is one series I thought wasn’t for me, seems disjointed and not my cup of tea. Luckily for me, I ended up coming back to it a few weeks later and by the 2nd or 3rd episode it started coming together. After that I listened to nothing but this until I tore through every episode and found myself in withdrawal. A phenomenal supernatural story I recommend to friends regularly. At least give it 3 episodes before deciding for yourself

Hilariously Confounding and Farcical
I love this show, but for no reason. 1. The lack of extras is hilarious because you can obviously tell it’s just the regular actors doing bad voices. 2. The voice of the librarian is stupid and she sounds like she’s in a porn 24/7. 3. The audio production is sometimes painful. Loud noises will come out of nowhere and blast your eardrums. 4. The character writing is actually pretty decent, and you can really quickly root for the people in the story, like the Sheriff, Dr. Crowe, and Jimmy Details. 5. The story writing is nonsensical and almost impossible to follow from episode to episode. Just go along for the ride and wait until the postmortems to understand anything. 6. The podcast is best illustrated as an occult Riverdale. Just laugh at it and enjoy the aesthetics.

Don’t judge too quickly
I typically give series 3 episodes before I decide if I want to continue listening and, honestly, I almost stopped and deleted the whole thing before I got through the first episode. I’m glad I continued through, though. It took me until about the end of the 3rd episode, but I got hooked. Definitely a good story to have in your catalogue if you go through them quickly.

Awful audio
The audio is so terrible! Why didn’t they clean this up before releasing?

Wasn’t sure about it
Wasn’t sure at first but it got addictive. Even with the less than perfect audio I had to know what happened!

Addictive!
I could not stop once I began to listen. Funny dark humor and I recommend this podcast for a great story filled afternoon. Listen for yourself.

I honestly don’t understand all the good ratings for this podcast. The writing is mediocre, full of strange errors (“once a prominent psychologist, tragedy caused...”) and the acting is amateur at best. The main character seems wholly out of place in a modern setting, and is no way believable. I listened to 6 episodes before writing this review, hoping it would improve. It’s fine for something mindless while traveling or working, but as far as storytelling goes, it’s the pits. Not sure what people love about it. If you’re a fan of horror, mystery, and/or just a good story, stay away from this one.

Worth It!
I was hooked in after the very first episode. There’s so much depth to the story. As a long time podcast junkie my standards are pretty high. That being said, I’m also willing to overlook periodic audio inconsistencies, if the story and performances are compelling. This show is binge worthy level of Fantastic! Recommend listening with headphones

Theme Music
I didn’t care for the music in the first podcast, but NOW. I can’t get the tune out of my head. The more I hear it, especially as it’s woven through the narrative, the more me likee!

A Fantastic Audio Adventure!
The story of Wormwood has all the elements of superb storytelling! The actors flush out the characters so that they come alive, each episode draws the listener deeper in with a twist, turn or massive event. I personally it went on forever!

Best audio drama ever!
This is my all-time favorite audio drama! I’ve listened to a lot after this one, but nothing has been anywhere near this good!

My All-Time Favorite Despite Technical Quality Issues
Something about this show, hooks you right in, yeah, acting is not always on par or even but characters are truly enjoyable, yeah , technical quality is not always excellent. But this show does a great job of world building, blends humor and macabre perfectly, does not take itself seriously and is UTTERLY ENJOYABLE. Still no other podcast in its category could beat it. Great job, guys. I hope you come back w new projects or, preferably expand the universe you built here.

Not bad
I have to say I enjoy finding podcast that does audiobook style series like WormWood. What I like about it was how much horror film related stuff they contributed to it. Some of the characters were interesting to learn about and sad to see them killed off. My favorite was how sexy the barkeeper's daughter sounded. But as good as the storyline was there were one or two things I wish they could change. The story dragged a little and I wish they added more exciting events. like when they fought the zombies at the house Crow was trapped at. Why Didn’t they have more scenes like that? Also, I wish they work on the audio quality because I found my self-adjusting the volume up and down as I listen to an episode with my headphones. I would be listening to someone talk in a low voice with the volume high so I could hear them and then someone (Crow) would shout in my ear the next minute. It was annoying. Also, they could work on their sound effects. Not to mention a narrator would help in the middle of the audio or more detail explanation to what was going on. Other then that WormWood was not a bad podcast. I recommend it to people who can listen to it on a radio and not overhead phone like I did.

It is 2018...
I absolutely love this story. I am an English major and this podcast sucked me right in. If you are thinking about listening... do it. You won’t regret it. So good. I just finished the whole series and I am left wanting more. So... I am listening again from the beginning. Again, listen to this. Highly highly recommend.

So good!
I’m super late to the Wormwood Party, but this show is great and the voice actors are incredible. Jimmy Details cracks me up every time.

Unmatched
This was the podcast that started it all for me. The story, the characters, everything comes together to create a wonderful world that will stay with you for a long time afterwards. The only issue is that it was never continued but then again magic like this is hard to recreate.

Amazing
This podcast is amazing! I love the story line. I can’t stop listening to it! Keep up the good work!

Good stories, but very messay production
The audio is really uneven. Sometimes I can barely hear anything and sometimes it explodes into my headphones. Also the labeling makes it easy to forget just what episodes you haven't arleady listened to. Which makes downloading new ones a bit of a chore.

first love
Wormwood was my first audio drama, the one that starte the obsession. Yeah, it's a little campy at times, but that campy/comedy theme balances out the grimness and severity of the other storylines. It's an intricate web of intrigue. Crowe and Sparrow are the BEST. The voice actors are great, even if the audio quality at first isn't great. There's clear improvement everywhere where it's needed throughout, which I always count as a bonus. This is an amazing story, and I highly recommend you listen to it.

Weird and wonderful
If you like old-timey audio drama with a heaping side of mystical camp horror and strange hilarious characters, LISTEN. I zoomed through these with delight. I will likely listen again.

Top Notch!
Everything about this podcast is simply brilliant! Xander Crow (and the actor who portrays him) is amazing. As is the rest of the cast. Truly enjoyable beyond my expectations.

A well-told story!
Came to the party late (by 10 years) but so glad I stumbled into Wormwood! The characters are complex and lovable. The acting is generally very good and the story line is stellar. Sure, there were some mixing issues at the beginning, but as the first generation of podcast radio drama I find that entirely forgivable. Audio stories old and new are a big part of my life, and I can say this one is a gem. Also, the best 2 mins of audio I’ve heard in a long time is tucked in Crossroads: Ep 10 at about 26:45. Hecka good.

Excellent
I've listened to dozens and dozens of podcasts and spent 1000's of hours listening as I drive truck and this is an engaging listen. I'm always looking for new stuff as I consume up to ten hours a day or more and was happy to find this.

WARNING! HORRIFIC audio.
This is my first 1star review and it's not going to be a nice review. The audio is so messed up. Some voices are clear and some sound like they are talking too close to a microphone next to a speaker. The music is poorly used. Every transition from scene to scene does not need overly blaring music. I almost went deaf bc parts of the podcast was louder than other parts. From the parts I can listen to the story wasn't bad but I can't get past the horrible audio or the bleeding eardrums. Please fix!

Wormwood, Wormwood...
I found it late in game but it was really good. Made work go by so quickly! Story is interesting and the writing is funny and very entertaining. Supernatural meets House if he was a psychologist...? At least that's who I'm thinking about when I'm listening.

Well, So Much For That
When I first saw this podcast, I was VERY excited to listen in. Based on my rating of this, I'm sure you can guess my level of disappointment. The story itself is engaging, but the sound quality really drives a wedge between the listener and what's going on. I listened to the first two episodes and could not bring myself to listen to any more. The acting of several individuals was mediocre, but others were quite charming and convincing. Also, the "theme music"... it made me want to face-palm and grind my teeth into non-existence. Not a great start. But it's all about what is important to you, and if you're in the mood for an original modern audio drama with a charming cast and don't mind the unpolished product, then this show might be a decent choice for you.

Great potential, meets jumbled mess
This series had the chance to be great but it's busy. There's too much going on, the story arcs feel as if they're written on the fly and the climax of the story feels rushed and gimmicky. The introduction of vampires and werewolves are lackluster and irrelevant. Important parts of the story are cloudy due to the sound effects making you feel like the action is taking place outside of your peripheral senses. Imagine walking out of a room while something important is happening in a movie and that's pretty much it. The repetitive voice acting/actors made it difficult to recognize and associate characters. The story itself would invest in a character simply to have little or nothing to do with the plot. Overall, it could have been great. Too many conflicting story lines, too many characters presented, too much fluff and not enough linear story telling.

Great show
Dr. Crow is a very fun and eccentric character. This is like Dr who except occult and in podcast format.

This one blew my away
I wish to heck that I could imitate the voice of The Doctor. Wonderfully told story with many ups and downs and twists. Do listen and hope for more as well done, soon.

I just love it
What can I say? I just love this podcast. It's weird, it's strange, and it scratches that goofy Twin Peaks horror sweet spot for me. I don't know if everyone would like this, but I just keep coming back over and over again!

Amazing story
This story was crafted amazingly. I think the characters are well developed and definitely unique. Definitely worth a listen.

Great podcast
I am 4 episodes into this podcast and really like it. I love that there are different voices for each of the characters, I like the sound effects. Occasionally the sounds are a bit harsh but not a big deal. I fell in love with the Leviathan Chronicles podcast until the creator dropped off the face of the earth and never finished it. I feel that Leviathan's sounds were much better and didn't distract from the story. I gave this podcast 4 stars instead of 5 because upon comparisson the sounds are just a bit harsh and could be made more integrated with the story.

Love the audio drama format
My first exposure to this form of entertainment, was with"we're Alive". I loved the breadth and continuity of these stories. I've always desired thorough character development. And it adds a unique dimensionality to the narrative. I sincerely hope that this medium is revived for the 21st century.

In Agreement with Most of These Reviews
Cons: Yes, the sound quality is poor in the earlier episodes. Yes, the voice acting ranges from fairly good to irritatingly poor (cast cannot seem to agree on how to pronounce 'quarry' and 'Xander'). Yes, the plot is reminiscent of Swiss cheese (and slightly difficult to follow the first time through). Pros: GRIPPING, SUSPENSEFUL, and VERY, VERY CREEPY really ****ing entertaining. Surprisingly heart-wrenching - actually found myself in tears after a certain character's death. Hilarious and interesting ensemble cast. Death. Just lots and lots of death.

Enjoyed it so far...
Been listening to all sorts of podcasts since their inception, and just began listening to the serial type to pass the time. I'm around 12 podcasts into this story, and I've mostly enjoyed it so far. Hope they keep up the good work.. If you like podcasts in the "black tapes" / "tanis" variety, give this one a try. You may be drawn in to another story before you know it.

I wanted to like this
The story seemed interesting. The problem is the different sound levels of the voices. It sounds like some people are right in front of the mic, and some are 50 feet away. I had to continually change the volume and replay parts that were hard to hear, do I gave up. If the sound were remastered, I'd give it another try

Wormywood
Super fun, over-the-top, dramatic serial. Sometimes the acting is tooooooooo heavy handed and, well, bad, but overall an enjoyable podcast. 3.5 stars.
