Great Podcast for Learning More About Wine!
If you are a normal person who loves to drink wine, and are even a little bit curious about wine, history of wine, wine regions of the world, grape varietals, food pairing, culture, winemaking techniques, you name it, Elizabeth Schneider will cover it. She is that friend you know who happens to be a sommelier.

No worth your time
You can find so many better wine podcasts to listen to. Don’t bother downloading, keep looking. Also, the host is annoying.

Yawn
I found the podcast boring and somewhat pedestrian. If you need help falling asleep, this would be perfect. Not sure what vibe they’re going for. This is the Lamarca of wine podcasts.

Boring and dull
This podcast doesn’t have the enthusiasm wine lovers should have. I learned little to nothing in four episodes. Will not subscribe. Look elsewhere.

Frustrating, misses potential
Bypass all the interviews. Host constantly interrupts people with pointless, rambling commentary. She has never interviewed a single person successfully. Its always about her trying to prove how much she knows, asking 7 overly aggressive questions at once, and running roughshod over the poor guest. Including the husband, those episodes are painful because he interrupts and disrupts the flow in every episode, and she’s pretty patronizing (can’t blame her in this case, he’s pretty annoying), which makes you wonder, why does she ever have guests! It’s very frustrating. And it detracts from the helpful info she provides in solo episodes. No one deserves this.

It’s Fine
I have been listening to this show for over a year, and honestly it’s been good enough for me to come back week after week. Unfortunately, though, I don’t feel like my wine knowledge has grown that much over the past year as someone who recently discovered wine. There is a lot of information here, but it’s just read in succession and can be difficult to follow. If you are familiar with wine or wine regions, you will probably enjoy this show more since you will be more familiar with the subject. Definitely not a show for beginners since the host quickly goes through the information and hard to pronounce names and varieties. Maybe in a few years I’ll have a more positive review as my wine knowledge will hopefully grow.

Good content… but the interruptions 😬
Some episodes are inspiring and super approachable, however, she yells over her guests and I can feel my face cringe every time she interrupts her guests… which is very often.

Tired of the constant environment lectures
Good content for the most part but the whole global warming, sustainability and environmental concerns color every episode it seems. You can even hear a couple of the guests get a little frustrated with the constant talk about the ‘how sustainable is that’, ‘that seems wasteful’, ‘are you exploring other less environmental impacting methods’ etc comments. Some of that is legit, some not and some just ignorant like the comment about global warming causing leaves to stay green longer on trees. Geesh, do a little homework. I’ve moved on to other wine podcasts.

Great wine podcast, BBQ not as much
Really tried to enjoy this podcast, but the first episode I picked was about Wines for Barbecue and they lost me immediately trying to use Barbecue as a verb and calling a grill a Barbecue…. Just kidding. Really enjoy it from a wine stand point. Educational but not too dry. A great podcast to learn more about wine. Just pretend they are saying “cookout” in the barbecue episode

Voice Of Host
Yikes! Sounds like a cat’s meow and bark of a little dog all in one. Especially on EarPods. And her guest take a beating. And she constantly interrupts her guest and she… on and on.

What a ride thru vino
Just listened to all the episodes on Italian wine; wow! So informative, entertaining, and passionate about the world of wine. Love this!

Decent
This is an occasionally decent, but never great, podcast about wine. Ironically some of the interviews would only be appealing to the most pretentious of wine snobs. And Elizabeth doesn’t shine as an interviewer, often interrupting her guests, and rarely drawing much of interest out of them. Also somewhat ironic given the name, is that this podcast is far from one that a wine newbie would enjoy. Her husband (whom she regularly talks down to and puts in his place) co-hosts and helps by asking “ordinary person” questions. But all told, this podcast is often just more wine snobbery as Elizabeth does her best to flaunt her expertise.

I learn more and more each time I listen, I love the conversations the two have back and forth, it’s entertaining. It’s great to listen & then register to the episodes I need. I look forward to joining and going on a trip with these wonderful wine connoisseurs!

Absolutely fabulous!!!!!!
I recently discovered WFNP I started at the beginning, even though that was 2011 the info is still relevant except for prices of wine ☺️. After the first episode I knew I’d found a excellent podcast. I work at a wine bar I know a little but I want to learn more to feel confident about recommending wine to customers. I’ve learned soooo much 90+ episodes in. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to expand their knowledge about wine. I recently also purchased Elizabeth’s book, thank you Elizabeth doing what you do!!!! You and your husband are hilarious I love the banter and nerdy stuff. 💕

Great educational and fun wine podcast
This podcast is fantastic and provides so much more knowledge about specific regions, varietals and producers. Very down to earth and helpful, really without the fake snobbery of many wine shows. Keep up the work, the book is excellent as well!

The Best Wine Podcast
In my opinion the best wine podcast by a large margin. The Pods that they highlight the regions are excellent! Great podcast for beginners, intermediate and advanced intermediates.

Interruptions
This is a pretty decent tool to learn wine. There is some good information and I have definitely used it. That’s the good thing about this podcast. The bad things are, however, fairly glaring. The host is really bad with interrupting her guests. It really made me uncomfortable to the point I have more or less stopped listening. The banter between the host and her husband is pretty amusing and I did enjoy that part. The interruptions though…. Yikes.

Much needed podcast for wine lovers!
I just found this podcast and am starting from the first episode. I’m binging, enjoying the recommendations and taking notes. As I listen to future podcasts, I’m hoping I continue to learn more about everything wine while still being entertained!!!

What to know what a married couple in need of therapy sounds like??
Positives: depth of catalog. Will tackle subjects others haven’t. Negative: this husband and wife team need marriage counseling. Host will annoyingly cut off her husband’s questions (which are we’ll times and appropriate) and shut him off. It would help to do more pre-recording practices so the questions are asked and not squashed. Too long. Too much babbling and inside jokes that make no sense to anyone. Supposedly a podcast for “normal people who hate the snobbery associated with wine”. There’s still plenty of arrogance here folks. Especially ironic given sommelier Elizabeth loves to bash other somms and wine figures in authority but herself demands that entitlement on her show. It’s almost impossible to listen to a full episode all the way through with the host being so annoying. The podcast can be done in 1/2 the time of the host didn’t spend SOO much requiring everyone to genuflect. Start each podcast at 8:00 mins and then skip 15 secs forward until the real material starts. And I didn’t mention the annoying heavy Long Island accent that comes through. That said: I do appreciate the volume of work sommelier Elizabeth has put in. 1 star for her poor husband and wine loving normal guy M. C. Ice who has to endure in person what the rest of us can simply do and hit the “end” button on the podcast and a relationship.

Awesomeness!!
This podcast provides such a great opportunity to learn about all things wine in the most accessible way possible. Elizabeth's breadth and depth of knowledge of all things wine coupled with her straight forward, down to earth delivery - makes the incredibly nuanced and complicated world of wine understandable and engaging. I love how MC Ice is always right there with the perfect follow up question to clarify complex ideas, he clearly understands the value of well timed and thoughtful question. I started back at 2011 and am working my way forward and learning so much along the way that I am applying straight away for enjoyment and understanding. I'm currently on a Burgundy and NZ pinot kick, with a side obsession of Galicia's epic Albariños. Not sure how I'll be moved from that as the Burgundy rabbit hole is deeper than the Mariana trench! Thank you very much folks. Keep being your awesome selves 🙌🏼🍷

Life is short — enjoy only good wine and good podcasts
This year I have been studying to take the CSW exam (and passed it — phew). Recently retired from 40+ year career and exploring possibility of starting a completly different next chapter. I enjoy wine, but have almost zero background and training. The study materials from Society of Wine Educators are excellent — extremely detailed and current (updated every year) but it’s very helpful to augment that material with informative and entertaining sources like WFNP. But it’s important that that information is reliable so as not to confuse or steer in the wrong direction and Elizabeth keeps current and contemporary. The deep dives on a variety of topics have been great to listen to: detailed information on history, how wine is made, viticulture, wine regions, terroir, styles, etc have given me fresh insights. I especially love the detailed sessions on the major grape varieties – – usually 45 minutes or more devoted to a single grape variety, to help really understand the nuances of the most important ingredient of wine — the grape. Same with deep dives on particular areas. Elizabeth interviews some of the most respected experts, sommeliers, wine makers, distributors, authors, etc. in the industry — getting their perspectives is valuable. A nice bonus are the detailed show notes and episode websites. I’ve benefited so much that have been glad to support on Patreon to make sure episodes keep coming. Lastly, I usually listen while cycling, walking the dog, or driving and the upbeat energy of Elizabeth and MC Ice keep my interest. Definitely recommend to others. Salute.

Wonderful education
I started listening to your podcasts about a month ago. I went back to #1 and have been listening to them in order - I’m up to the 60s or so. I thought I knew some about wine, but I have learned so so much. Thank you for making the world of wine accessible and unpretentious. Thank you for devoting your heat and soul to making sure learning about wine is fun for everyone. Thanks to you, my shoe budget has transformed into a wine budget (my husband is thrilled!!). He and I are primarily red drinkers, but thanks to you, we have branched out and stretched our palates to new whites (I have an Albariño and Alsace Pinot Gris on order) . Tonight I had an Oregon off-dry white (something I NEVER would have ordinarily chosen) with our Indian food. Absolutely amazing!! I just can’t believe the transformation. This will now be a permanent part of my cellar. Thank you for opening our hearts, minds and mouths to amazing new adventures. The wine world is truly blessed to have you. I look forward to all the amazing podcasts to come!

Fun and empowering
My husband and I started listening to Elizabeth’s podcast because we have a few wine snobs in our life who only drink expensive wines from certain high end wineries and talk down to us about drinking some of the less expensive ones. We’re just trying to have fun and find what we really like and Elizabeth has certainly helped with this. I now have a working knowledge of how to choose what we like and be confident in my choices without relying on critic scores and reviews. I can also now pick out different flavors that we like and boldly state what I’m looking for. As far as the wine snobs, Elizabeth has corrected A LOT of misinformation that we’ve been told about everything from “rules” on holding wines, what wines to buy, and how to select a great wine from a restaurant menu. (They only choose the most expensive bottles because that has to be the very best, right? And then also told us that restaurants only sell wine-by-the-glass for wines that aren’t good and they just pour them down the drain at the end of the night. Ludicrous!) Thank you, Elizabeth for educating and empowering us. We’re having fun drinking and learning about wine and guess what- we took your advice and we’re not tasting with the judgmental people because it really isn’t fun.

Better than the wine course I took in college
Elizabeth makes drinking wine fun! She breaks down incredibly complex concepts so the average wine enjoyer- such as myself can actually feel included in wine culture. Thank you! Would highly recommend.

Informative and fun
So.. I just started from the beginning a month ago and I am already 3 years in. Elizabeth is insanely knowledgeable about wine, but teaches in a way that is easy to understand. She makes the world of wine approachable and leaves you with the desire to discover new wines and regions. I feel like MC Ice is fun buddy who is on the ride with you. Thanks for the great podcast. Look forward to catching up.

Why am I just finding out about this?!
Just started listening from the beginning and I love it so much! I have already learned so much and have strayed from my usual choices and found some great new wines. Excited to keep listening!

Addictive
Down to Earth, very practical, applicable and entertaining. For a Filipino-American who had almost zero knowledge of wine this show has opened my eyes a lot. It has helped my husband and I enjoy wine more. When there’s a little debate between Elizabeth and MC Ice my hubby always takes MC Ice side and I defend Elizabeth, lol! Before this show we were occasional wine sippers but this show has helped us get into having wine with food and it’s so much better. Can’t wait to hear more. But fyi Yugoslavia was not a “Soviet nation.” It was a communist state, but was never part of the Soviet Union.

Great way to learn!
I am learning so, so much from this podcast. It’s fantastic. My partner worked at a wine bar forever and I am trying to catch up on knowledge and better I for myself as a consumer. This podcast has been a very fun, effective way to learn in an accessible way and I am already a much more confident consumer. I’m enjoying wine more as a result! PS- the comments about Elizabeth’s voice reek of agism and sexism. Read some on the NPR pieces about the garbage comments their women correspondents get. Very frustrating to read.

Irritating
Just can’t stand the half-drunk, condescending New Yuk accent. This show is more successful the less Elizabeth talks.

Great podcast!
I’ve been listening to this podcast for a year now, and it is very helpful. There is every topic you can think of here, and Elizabeth takes them for in-depth looks. Very informative, and the podcast notes are quite helpful. In fact, I’ve become a Patreon of hers and I take her live online classes. Highly recommend! Her book is great too.
