Best Punk Pod
Damian kills every interview and really lets the absolute legends he interviews talk it out and rant. Best podcast for punkers not that it’s a competition but every episode here is gold! Keep it up!

For the most part
This is a really good podcast and I enjoy it thoroughly. The guests and nostalgia are very interesting and I’m glad that Damian is such a well-researched interviewer who asks (mostly) intelligent questions. That being said, I really hate the way Damian drops these super-obscure references to his guests that he has obviously garnered only through hours of stoned scouring of the internet in an attempt to one-up or seem more sophisticated than said guests because he’s so insecure about not being a true punk himself. Yes, Damian, there was an entire generation of people who grew up using punk as a “soundtrack “ to their lives that didn’t necessarily live this mythical “punk ethos” you have idealized in your head. Some people just like the way it sounds and makes them feel. Go figure and do try to get out of Canada and see more of the world instead of just curating it in your imagination

Three Facts
1) Toby Vail is god. 2) Walter doesn’t know how to silence his phone. 3) To date, AFI is the biggest, most commercially successful HC band of all-time.

For music lovers by music lovers
There’s so many reasons I love this podcast, so I’ll stick to just one. If you need to check out music you’ve never heard or never heard of just pick an episode at random and pick one or many of the bands mentioned in any episode. At worst it’s an interesting journey into unknown realms of Music. At best, you fall in love with a new band, song, genre, scene, or idea and your life is more joyful.

I love this podcast
I love love love it. I cherry pick episodes but I really enjoy the ones I listen to. I’m a nerd, Damian is a nerd and if you are too about this kind of music then look no further. I absolutely love his enthusiasm for music.

Damian’s genuine enthusiasm and love of all things punk is contagious. Great show!

I may or may not still be involved, but…
TOAP is the most enjoyable music podcast I have in my rotation. From interviews with folks I am deeply curious about to the ones I could care less about and am always-surprised-by, Damien’s enthusiasm and knowledge about what he loves makes it an infectious listen.

The ruling-est podcast around.
I just discovered this podcast about a month ago and it’s the only thing I’ve listened to since. I’ve been a mega fan of punk, more specifically the 80’s hardcore stuff, for over twenty years. This podcast interviews many of the “legends” from that era, which is rad. P.S. - It’s Greg HETSON Damian. H-E-T-S-O-N. 😂😂😂

Good guests
Damian is good but he should be a little more demonstrative / less deferential

Awesome !!
I’ve listened to and loved every episode I do have to say Tom Delong’s episode sucked man. Damien you were completely on point but even one of my favorite interviewers can’t make that douche bag sound halfway interesting.

Fantastic
Punk n wrestling are 2 of my life’s obsessions. Listening to D geek out on these very topics is endearing & entertaining. It seems puzzling that 400 eps have past & no talk with Jeff Clayton of ANTiSEEN,this needs to happen. Would also love to hear him talk to Ron Rancid,Matt & Mark of Rupture,Big Daddy of Kilslug, Gabba of chaos uk & Mike IX Williams of EYEHATEGOD to name an important few. Endless hours of getting me through monotonous & soul killing work days

Fun hearing about diverse experiences growing up in the punk scene. Damien is super knowledgeable about punk/hardcore/etc and a great interviewer.

awesome
That Martin interview was great. If anyone could make a podcast with someone I was interested in that was longer than I wanted to listen to it would be Damian but that one didn’t come close. Great the whole way through.

The Punk Rock - Wrestling connection GAWD
Been loving this podcast since I started listening. I didn’t start at episode 1 but I’m meaning to go back to those older episodes. Damian is an amazing interviewer and his knowledge of punk is mind blowing. I have discovered so many bands/artists through this podcast. Currently listening to the Martin Sorrondeguy episode. This is truly one of my favorite interviews.

Historical Punk
I've been listening since the first episode a few years ago, and I refrained from writing a review because, well, I very rarely write reviews. 350 episodes in, I've realized something, and I think it is now very clear. With all of the people he has been blessed to interview on this podcast (eschewing examples, and ignoring the wrestling and pot ones), in its totality, THIS IS THE DEFINITIVE HISTORY OF PUNK ROCK. Damian and Tristan have pulled in several absolute legends, who have plenty of interesting perspectives and stories, but they have also brought in people who were in those same bands, or producers, or directly connected with the "scenes", who are able to provide their own perspectives and give a different viewpoint, confirming, altering or obliterating the "legendary" versions of widely-accepted anecdotes. Now, pulling it back to my all-caps statement, you have to listen to ALL of the interviews, especially ones with people connected with the early scenes, but when taken together, they are better than all of the books on punk I have read (and I've read a bunch). Some of those books are great, and they all have their place, but if you have the time to invest, for a history of punk, this podcast is essential. Hard work and perserverence pay off, gents! Keep up the great work!

PUNISHING
Great guests. Cool stories However, the use of the term “punisher” is entirely overused and makes the podcast unlistenable at times. I understand that the term, thanks to Phoebe Bridgers, has become in vogue over the past year, but it is exhausting to hear this repeated from episode to episode.

Punk Rock + Pro Wrestling: A True Love Story
I discovered professional wrestling in 1994 and punk rock in 1999, but it wasn’t until I found this podcast that I fully realized the true crossover between the two art forms...and now I can’t stop listening. As I continue to comb through the vast number of episodes of TOAP, I naturally gravitate toward guests who are pro wrestlers or in the pro wrestling world. I’m equally stoked, however, to hear stories from old time punkers—especially those who grew up at the NJ shore like myself—and folks who I never knew had any interest in the genre. Keep this podcast going forever, Damian...I’m still waiting on a lot of part 2s and 3s!

Why are the old episodes disappearing?
Really enjoy the show and started listening to the old episodes when I have the time but they're all being taken down or something. Kind of a bummer.

So good
The host is friendly, unpretentious, and has vast knowledge of punk.

The best
What makes Damian’s podcast so special is his earnestness, encyclopedic knowledge of all of the punk rocks, and complete lack of pretentiousness. He is an actual friendly nerd doing something he’s passionate about. He asks the questions I want to hear asked. Thanks for a great show, Damian. Where else are you going to find “Void Week”?

Great pod! So many cool guests. I always check it out. However, the host uses the word “punishment” wayyyyyy too much. Between 50-100 times per episode. Get a thesaurus, my dude.

Excellent Podcast
I loved the Vice Documentary series “The Wrestlers” and searched the host online, leading me to this podcast that is about punk and the connections between punk and other genre, including wrestling. Excellent deep dive interviews that explore the depths instead of trodding the more familiar, and already trodden ground, just like the documentary series that lead to the search that lead to the podcast. Great stuff and low I’ve downloaded hours of episodes and can’t wait to give them a listen, from Geoff Rickly to Amy Dumas and Bob Mould this show is an instant MVP!!

If you have ever even remotely considered yourself a punk or a punk music fan then this podcast is a must. Think you know everything there is to know about punk? I bet you can find out something new and are happier after listening to just about any episode!

Void week was fantastic
As a 42 year old father it is kind of embarrassing to admit it, but I sometimes day dream about Damien interviewing me about how I first got into punk and the exact name of the squat where my clueless high school band played. Shoutout especially for War on Women, Mark Mcoy, and Speedo. Please interview Martin or Ebro from Crudos, or Frank from MK Ultra!

Great podcast!
Dear Damian, Love the show! Great interviews with so many cool people, getting stories never told before. It’s always a good show to get recommendations on new stuff to listen to.

A catalyst
Damien is technically younger than me, but the man shows gratitude, grace and respect thru his knowledge, enthusiasm and pure punishment of every interviewee he encounters. As a fd fan I always projected a massive wall between fd and my own idiocy nerdom with music...Damien goes beyond a frontman and becomes the best of us with our hero’s...thanks, man!

Go deep into punk scenes all over the world!
The thing about Punk music is, it’s all about small bands from isolated scenes. You may know a ton about NY hardcore, but not know a thing about the Cleveland scene. This show will expose ANYONE to new bands that they will love. Dig in and find your next favorite punk bands new and old! I’ve found lots of bands here that I then put on my iHeartRadio station Punk Tacos. -Nerf

Please Interview Pat Flynn
Love the interviews. They’re insightful to say the least. However, it would be cool to see love from the modern hardcore scene (or any hardcore post 80’s for the matter). An interview with Have Heart frontman Pat Flynn would incredible.

Long Overdue Review for One of My Favorite Podcasts
Love this podcast - Damien really does a great job talking influences and chronological storytelling for each guest - and each guest is great. The guests are a who’s who in underground musicians, underground music lovers and some pretty huge names in entertainment. Having a super well rounded and knowledgeable host and a host that is in a band that most likely so many of these guests respect and love as well likely help Damien and Tristan pull in incredible people week after week for years now. Footnotes is an awesome touch and as good as the interview podcasts - double awesomeness. Just as good as it gets!
