Impeccable Research
Josh and the research team do the most in-depth research I’ve ever heard. I applaud the time and effort that it has taken to deep-dive such a mystery. This is the only podcast I can listen to multiple times. Every time I learn something new that I didn’t catch before.

first season was better
dragging out this season with short episodes and tons of “we’ll get to that in another episode” and then ending 6-7 minutes before the play time to play an entire song. Ugh. Between the ads and very little actual information: not respecting the audience.

A caring voice
Josh has a voice for those who no longer have one.

Thank you for all you’re doing!
I just saw a true crime show and totally impressed by your work for the family!

Art
In totality, Josh Hallmark has created a homage to the victims and a place to reflect and find some empathy for those who knew Keyes. From the poetic telling of these acts of Keyes, to the deep research and collecting of data, this is a work of art. Must be said, the subject matter is extremely troubling. Deep sadness and empathy for all impacted by the actions of Israel Keyes. Victims, family and friends of ALL involved. Kudos to all the researchers that work with Josh.

When you say Greenwich NY, it’s pronounced: Green-wich, not grenich. Otherwise keep up the great show and content.

Mastering
This a review of the audio not the content. You would think after 6 years they would figure out how to make an episode sound good. All the seasons have been rough here and there but season 6 has taken it to a new level. Literally the audio is so hot it’s almost unlistenable. Figure it out already.

Amazing! I love the detail, I love the emotion and feeling that’s been put into this podcast. I just get sucked in every time I start listening. Keep up the good work! I love the way you call him “Is” it’s astounding the work, effort and heart Josh puts into his podcast. Oh, and Josh’s voice***swoon***

Steep decline in quality
I think this podcast peaked in its 3rd or 4th Israel Keyes season. Now it's just an endlessly stretched out, fluff-filled show with very little narrative pull through. Interspersed with dark and moody music- probably 2-3 minutes of playtime including the outro. Add in at least 8 minutes of ads. Then consider that every state has 100's of missing persons, and through a story of Serial Killer Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon, many missing unsolved murders can be tangentially connected to IK. With enough dramatic narration and horror movie music, every theory sounds menacing. Just so done with this. Wish the podcast would move on to other topics.

Holy Ad break
I’m 21 minutes into the latest episode and on the 3rd ad break. Come on. Very little content actually coming from episodes anymore and I feel like there’s lots of filler with each episode becoming a bit more self indulgent. Eh… 20 minute episode: first 7.5 minutes is commercials.
GabyGabyBee
Very affected speaking style
People praise Hallmark’s research . But I doubt much of what he reports and claims, based on mistakes that he makes in discussing the Maura Murray and Brianna Maitland cases . His voice and manner are embarrassingly fake. Why add you’re misguided political views to True Crime? This is just a showcase for an emotionally fragile man to feel like his worthless obsessions matter.

Ads….
7min of ads before a “20min” episode? Criminal

A Captivating Deep Dive
I’ve been listening to Josh’s investigation since season 1 was launched. I re-listen to this podcast regularly. Josh is a wonderful story teller and applies so much effort into being considerate to victims families. A great listen into this truly terrifying serial killers victimology and identifying more pieces to this not yet complete puzzle. Great work, Josh. Sorry it took me so long to write a review!

Izz? Musical confessions?
It’s incredibly off putting to hear music behind the serial killer’s confessions. What on earth was the thought there??? Music is used in communication to influence the listener’s emotions. Hearing a serial killer talking about his crimes is emotional enough. We don’t need any enhancements. And why - WHY - is the host constantly referring to Keyes as “Izz”, as if they’re old friends or brothers or something?????? “Keyes” is just as concise and far more appropriate. I saw the host on Citizen Detectives and was impressed and excited to support a podcast that I thought was working to help the families of the missing get some answers. But if I were one such family I would absolutely lose it to hear this guy talking about Keyes like he’s an old college buddy. It almost feels like the host admires Keyes and that’s disappointing, disturbing even. Fascination I understand but admiration is despicable. With that said, I’m still listening, though I don’t know how much longer I will. It’s nice to have all this information in one place but I don’t think this is a podcast I would recommend to family or friends. I’m on episode 0119. I hope it improves the further along it goes. But if I hear “It’s me again…” one more time I may actually unfollow this show. Yes, along with all the above, the ads are repetitive and abundant. But I could easily overlook that if the show was a little more respectful. This is basically a podcast of Keyes’ interviews with FBI. The host adds information here and there. I appreciate it when that information pertains to the cases but sometimes it’s just a tangent about true crime and true crime podcasts in general. I’m giving it 3 stars because the host does his research and I appreciate that but otherwise this would be a 2 star review. I’ll update if I manage to listen through. Update: I unfollowed. I think the host is more a fan of Keyes than a journalist. I get the bad boy attraction but you have to draw the line somewhere.

What true crime should aim for but getting dragged out
This was the gold standard and when there’s an episode it is high quality but this latest season is using the same old Keyes clips and only had a few light content episodes after a long break. Maybe there is just no way to go forward with this, Keyes is dead with his secrets. Everyone has been interviewed and at this point it’s conjecture and circumstantial evidence. As much as on line sleuths like to believe they are smarter than the FBI, we aren’t! Every episode just drags on about the NAMUS list and is often repetitive. Josh is a great host but maybe it’s time to move on because it seems like there’s nothing new to report. It’s a frustrating listen the last few seasons. Just tried to listen to a new episode and it’s just not that interesting to hear the agonizing details about Keyes calendar and where he might have been in a particular week. No longer in my regular must listen rotation.

Obsessed… Buckle up Buttercup
Heard this podcast mentioned on MFM while discussing the Susie Lyle case and decided to check out the podcast that Karen mentioned was doing the real work and research. I immediately binged every episode as Josh skillfully wove the tiny strings of Keyes’ information into a rich tapestry of depravity, revealing the patterns which grew to define Keyes’s behavior as he seeks to give back victims their names. 10/10 recommend.

The best investigative podcast around
Honest and truly sincere investigation of one of the most perplexing serial killers of all time. Josh and now his team as well continue to invest in finding answers and I cannot wait to hear the new season.

Unsafe Spaces
I’ve been listening to Unsafe Spaces but I have to look for it. It doesn’t come up in my “Listen Now “ on Apple.

I want to like it.
I just can’t stand the delivery and constant terrible soundtrack. It’s extremely distracting.

Hi Josh and team! Thanks for plugging Unsafe Spaces on the 5th Anniversary bonus episode! I was totally unaware of that show but it is awesome, just as I would expect from you. I will also drop a review on Unsafe Spaces.

A must listen!
If you don’t listen to True Crime Bullsh**, are you even a fan of true crime? This is as good as it gets - a well-written, well-produced podcast, with great music and, most importantly, research that is actually making a difference.

Great Podcast but gets repetitive
I really like this podcast, but I feel like it gets so repetitive. I’ve listened to some episodes and thought my phone had messed up because it felt like I had heard everything already. The episodes do seem well researched and Keyes is an interesting and terrifying topic. Make future episodes a bit more succinct and my rating would go up.

Haunting
This show will stick in your head. To hear a killer talk about a murder like he was talking about the weather is so scary.

You are helping the families of the victims with this podcast!
Wow, your amazing! Truly truly!

2021 commercial ads have gotten super obnoxious.
And plentiful. This said, one of the best podcasts out there for hearing new and unusual music. Which I love. Minus 1 star. For pushing other content (Our Americana) into my queue. If I wanted to subscribe to Our Americana, I would. Now I have to Unfollow TCB in order to stop getting conent I don’t really want. Way to go. Keyes Encounters (BONUS). My God. Normalize the AUDIO!! The people being interviewed are WHISPERING. Turn the volume on HIGH. Then the canned ad comes on and BLASTS MY EARDRUMS OUT. Come on. The other thing I dislike is when this podcast posts an episode for an unrelated podcast. Why? Because 15 other podcasts will post the SAME “try this new podcast” advertisement. What a waste of time and bandwidth! Just have your bosses create a podcast called “New Podcasts From Us” and I’ll follow it, and you can pitch me from there! But mostly THANK YOU for listing musical artists and featured songs! Some of the best music in podcast production. UGH. October 31, 2023 Bonus. Poorly recorded. My volume is turned all the way up, to hear Josh at a normal level. I can’t hear a word being said by the audience! Then the commercials come on and blow out my ear drums.

Leftist podcasters can’t help themselves.
Great podcast, but admitting you lost an interview because you couldn’t help but spread vitriol on your social media about a former president is hilarious and you should be embarrassed. Rent free!

Fascinating
The deep dive done on Israel, Keys, by this podcast is fascinating. It is such a complicated case, and Josh does a great job of pulling threads and connecting dots. I am enjoying it immensely, even though it is so frightening to think that someone like Israel Keyes walked among us.

Incredible
I have been a fan for a long time, and I don’t know why I never thought to review the show before except that it’s seemed to have done just so well without my input this far, but I just finally listened to the September 9th bonus episode, and I just want to say how incredibly impressed I am that you, Josh, are still standing, and how very in awe I am of your resilience and ability to be so profoundly insightful. Thanks for sharing your story, and so poignantly. The work you do and the earnest compassion you have to share is, as always, so deeply appreciated. Thanks for doing the work you do, and for the sincerity with which you do it.

Addicting show
I found TCB through an episode of My Favorite Murder, and can’t stop Listening. I am from the PNW and am fascinated by Keyes (who I had never heard of before this podcast). I have spent time in many of the places Keyes was active, during the same timeframes, and am roughly the same age. It is eerie and creepy and fascinating. I am in my 3rd listen, and can’t wait for the new season. I want Josh and the team to solve some cases and bring closure to the families. The amount of time/effort/care put into research of this show is unmatched. Love it!

Wow!
The amount of work and research Josh and his team have done is incredible!! This is truly a deep dive into a twisted story. Josh retells this story with such care and respect to the victims, their families, lifestyles, and culture.

Incredible research and story
I have listened to hundreds of true crime podcasts and nothing has sucked me in quite like this one. Josh, and later with his team, do research that is truly mind boggling and the piecing together of this story is stunning. Thank you for all your hard work, hands down my top listen in a very long podcast history. Josh also brings a very humanistic approach to his storytelling, a fantastic listen!

Mouth noises
I’m super new to this pod and listening to the first season. It might get better but the host’s lip smacks become distracting if you’re sensitive to that king of stuff like I am. Other wise this is a great pod.

Very good but…
I’m a late comer to this podcast. I really enjoy all the detail, however I’ve noticed a HUGE increase in the number of commercials from the first season to the end of season 2 and into season 3. I hope this stops because I’m not sure if I can listen to them anymore. I constantly have to carry around my phone so I can skip through them all. And the 5 mins of music at the end is excessive. I’ve listened to many podcasts that have more than 5-10 seasons and no commercials so I hope podcast scales back.

Should rename this podcast
Just call it Namus. The random files. I gave it a two because no one gives two stars. Checking back in on it I had to unfollow and re-record it. It’s just random talking at this point. Sad.

Amazing work!
I have been binging your podcast for a while…there’s a lot (thank you for that!) I’m always teetering between horror and awe listening to his interviews & your research. I have always wanted to know more about Israel Keyes. He’s such a mysterious one & I love that your podcast is ripping off the veil. Thank you so much for doing this incredibly deep dive, like the deepest dive ever. I’ve learned so much about him listening to your podcast, and this is coming from someone who read American Predator & follows true crime daily. Thank you so much & please keep producing more content! 🥰🙏

One of a kind
The epitome of ethically told true crime. Josh and his team deep dive on a level that is unheard of in this genre, while giving the victims a voice. TCB walks a tightrope between exploring the crimes of Israel Keyes and respectfully sharing insights into his potential victims. It is hands down the most compelling true crime podcast out there. Enthralling, brilliant, and beautifully woven.

meticulously researched, expertly narrated and edited, and the insights are so eye opening! Plenty of food for thought. out of 10? A 15.

Not great - updated after listening longer
I haven’t finished S1E4 yet so it might get better, but so far he could have easily cut 2 episodes’ worth of content by not playing the interviews with random podcast listeners to get their opinion on…podcasts. That should have been some kind of a Patreon feed thing or even epilogue episodes. I’m hearing too much about his podcast process and not enough about the actual case. The audio quality so far is good for his speaking parts but bad when he cuts in the Keyes interviews. The interviews with everyone in general are terrible and generally of low, crunchy quality. Update: so I am now in the middle of S1E09, and I’ve had the feeling that Josh seems to think he is superior to other people through some of his completely random commentary that has NOTHING to do with Israel Keyes. The part that gets me though is discussing Gilbert Gilman. He actually says he doesn’t think Keyes was responsible in part because of something he won’t say. Like he’s actually saying “I know something you don’t know.” Again, another thing there is no reason at all to say. He does realize he is not the only source for anything right? It looks like the reason he won’t discuss is that Gilman may have been a spy or perhaps worked for the US as a spy. So there you have it. Stop half-assing it and either say everything or nothing. If you choose to say nothing though, everything else you say is now suspect because we know you hate withholding something.

Great, thoughtful podcast
Josh and team do a wonderful job of following this case and bringing the victims alive, as well as understanding Israel Keyes. Their research is impressive, their willingness to consider options is remarkable and their ability to operate without an agenda is impressive. Great podcast that has opened the door to other long-form podcasts like the Defense Diaries that operate like documentaries without the constraints of visuals and time.

Excellent seasons 1-3; disappointing seasons 4-5
Seasons 1-3 are outstanding. Season 4 isn’t as good, but it’s still compelling. Season 5 is incredibly disappointing; it just seems dull and pointless. And the commercials are exceptionally loud and obnoxious.
