Miss the show, it was great!

I have been loving Travel Genius since discovering it a few months ago. I always learn something new. It’s also fun to hear from guests who have some of the same travel hacks as you- I’m all about the Berocca (great for anti-jet lag and hangovers) and analogue cameras (I take a disposable on my trips). The Alison Mosshart episode was my favourite so far!

Good tips and topics, but Nikki needs to stop interrupting and talking over the guests. Maybe there is delay with her VoIP but she does so constantly in multiple episodes. Super irritating.

This is my favorite podcast! I listen to a lot of travel podcasts, but Nikki and Mark just work so well together - they’re fun, interesting, and always have something to say. I wish they could come out with more podcasts, but I’m not complaining. :)

Can almost binge listen to this! Great tips. Just wish it had a “episode brief notes” you could pull up after that lists the main points. Easy to listen to these upbeat podcasters.

On my search for more podcasts I stumbled across this gem. I love the tips, although I’ve heard many before. The guests are interesting and give different views about how to travel and get the best experiences. My next query? How can I get someone to PAY for my travel!!! LOL

It is by far my favorite podcast. Nikki and Mark are stupendous and the podcast is a pleasure to listen to. The information provided by this 2 extremely knowledgeable and well prepared experts is invaluable. Always looking forward to the next episode... keep up the good work!

The podcasts aren’t so much about the destination and tourist sites, they are about how to manage better.

The “upspeak” and vocal fry with the American host is cringe-inducing. I liked the guests and the overall approach, but she’s like nails on a chalkboard.

I was so happy to find this podcast after mourning the loss of Travelogue (which was my all time favorite!). I love Mark and him and Nikki are great together. I love all the tips and have found some really useful ones that I am implementing in my travels. Please, keep this podcast coming!

I am planning a 30th anniversary for June July or August 2020. Thanks for the tips. Can you talk about travel tips and safety while traveling to Morocco. On YouTube many people of color have been mistreated. Can you speak about this

I agree with other posts that being Bloomberg it can be a bit too 'posh' in hotel choices, etc., but I have loved Mark Ellwood's take on travel since CNT Travelogue (why did they end it?!) and it's great to hear him and Nikki together - she has a good perspective and rapid fire questions for guests. The 'bell' is a great hook and the tips being repeated at the end really helps!

I travel all over the U.S. for work, and occasionally into Canada. Lots of long plane and car rides to fill with podcasts. I primarily listen to music, news, and current events, so I was thrilled to see a podcast specifically for travellers. I really enjoy the hosts and their enthusiasm for the topics. However, is there a version of this podcast with tips and such for working and middle-class folks? It's lovely to hear you wax poetically about Paris and Dubai and Italy and Kenya and all parts in between. Believe it or not, many of us are just middle income work-a-day schlubs trying to make ends meet before retirement. Would be great if there were more PRACTICAL tips for the rest of the world who don't have the time or money for a spa break during our layover in Hong Kong.

Brag about travel from dullards

Like other reviewers, I was looking for a travel podcast to replace the wonderful Travelogue from Conde Nast. I wanted to wait until listening through almost every episode before posting a review as the podcast is new and needs a little time to find it's footing, which I think it's now done. In our content-laden world, where there are A LOT of long podcasts, the format and timing of Travel Genius is great, moving quickly along from a main topic or two of discussion before the hosts bring on their guest. The guests have been varied and interesting so far, offering a wide variety of advice ranging from adventure/outdoors based advice all the way up to luxury travel advice. I have personally picked up a few great travel tips or hacks along the way. Not every episode or guest will be perfect for everyone, but if you keep an open mind, you might just pick something up anyway. I found a couple of the negative reviews a little "hand wavey" where one episode or travel tip upset someone to the point of a one star review, and that's unfortunate, because there's some really good stuff in here otherwise if you listen to a few different episodes.

I was sad travelogue ended so I was looking for a podcast to replace that and couldn’t believe I came across this AND with Marc Elwood! I love all the tips & cant wait for more!

This show is amazing! The bell / competitive format ensures that the guests bring new insightful travel tips to the show. As a huge traveler, I find most traditional travel shows boring — they are either basic travel tips, or just people talking about places they want to go travel. This travel genius podcast has super quality content. I learn at least a few things each episode that I plan to apply on my next travels. The hosts are fun. I look forward to every Wednesday when a new episode comes out!

Very helpful travel tips!

I was attracted to the episode about travelling solo, one of my great passions in life, and I learned to a) carry a deck of cards in my hand luggage and b) to request a steam iron from the concierge to make my business attire presentable. So is this a travel podcast, or is it a business travel podcast? And if the latter, how is it possible to rise in the company to become an executive traveller and not know how to steam a suit in a luxury hotel? Kudos to the other reviewer for calling out the subtle racism/xenophobia in the “Paris is safer than rural China” comment. A travel podcast host should know something about the culture and politics of the destinations under discussion, and if they don’t, they should bring on guests who do.

I started this podcast because of Mark Ellwood. This is definitely not any where near as good as the Condenast Travelogue. I’m sad that one is over, because it was absolutely the best.

Even as a seasoned traveler and former hospitality and travel executive, I get a kick out of the fun and fresh Travel Genius content. Mark is always a dream to hear live and he has a lovely way of making his guests feel like the authorities even though he clearly has been traveling all over the world and knows a lot himself.

I’m not sure what audience this is supposed to be for. First of all, a conversation about the difference between luxury and ultra luxury hotels (with not even a mention of cost) is irrelevant to 99% of listeners. Your “hacks” should already be known by anyone who can afford to stay at the kinds of places you’re talking about. Second, you’re giving wrong information. In the most recent episode you said solo travelers are safer in Paris than in a rural Chinese village, which is just not supported by any kind of fact. Paris has a high crime rate (as do most large cities in the US and abroad) - last time I was there I waited with a victim of a violent mugging for the police and paramedics arrive. Rural China has a very low crime rate and as a tourist you would stand out so much that you’d never be alone long enough to be attacked. You might be annoyed by the people constantly trying to touch your hair, but you’ll never be in any real danger. The fact that the host feels safer in Paris probably has more to do with her own stereotypes than reality: totally understandable but not something to be spread via podcast as if it were the truth. 3 stars (instead of 1) because if you just recently got hired at a large consulting firm or Fortune 100 company and expect to do a lot of business travel for the first time in your life: this podcast has some useful tips.

I rarely write reviews, but this podcast is so awful that I felt compelled. Not only is the advice trite and useless, but the hosts seem largely interested in listing the luxury hotels they’ve stayed in. The icing on the cake for me was the show on traveling alone. The advice was, in short, feel ashamed of yourself and don’t leave your room at night. This podcast isn’t just a waste of time, it’s a disservice to people who enjoy traveling.

As someone who loves travel but doesn’t necessarily consider themselves good at it, I find this kind of thing to be really fun and handy. Who doesn’t love a hack or ten?
