My Favorite MTG Poscast
I listen to a lot of MTG podcasts as part of my daily routine. I am mainly a limited player but am also interested in constructed. This podcast is my favorite though, because of how incredible unique of an experience it provides. As far as I know, there is no podcast Patreon. As a matter of fact, the listeners are never even acknowledged. While some may find this off putting, this is my absolute favorite thing about it. Each week we the listeners get to sit as flies on the listening to what feels like a private conversation about constructed Magic between Patrick and Michael J. We get to experience there incredibly deep friendship but over years without getting in the way. I love that they are able to allow their personalities with each other come through without the audience getting in the way while delivering engaging and thought provoking strategic content each week. Also, if you get the chance, make sure to listen to their 10/4/2020 episode. It’s a can’t miss.

Best Magic Poscast
I look forward to this podcast every week. I usually hate mono-red players but Michael J seems ok.

Loving it!
Listening to this podcast gives me the same feelings as when I watch Empire Strikes Back in my Stormtrooper PJs. It love that both Patrick and Michael unashamedly nerdy and passionate about MTG. I get excited every time I see a new episode is up!

Decent
Content is decent, audio quality isn’t good, most other casts sound way better

Innovation
It would be great if you would at least cast once a week.

Great Content!
I don't understand why people don't like the dynamic between the co-hosts- I love it. They bounce ideas off each other and work through them together, giving the listener a complete experience.

Half obnoxious
One guy is level mannered and sounds better. The other is obnoxious as hell. He actually sounds upset talking about magic combos. On top of that he’s super condescending to the other host.

Subject matter is good but discussion can be lacking
This podcast touches on important and very relevant subject matter and provides valuable information. My only issue with the podcast is with the dynamic between Patrick and Michael. Seems like every single idea or counter argument Michael has is immediately disregarded by Patrick. For instance if Patrick is making a case for a card and Michael brings up counter argument Michael basically tells him he’s wrong and continues the discussion. It’s really not conducive to a constructive conversation.

Innovative
In a world of magic podcasts that only want to talk about why cards aren’t good, this one is a nice change of pace as they actually brainstorm about what could be possible. The only knock on it is the impressive dedication to have Patrick’s mic sound aggressively distorted always.

Best Deep Dives on MTG
Michael J, and Patrick define strategy and Next Level Magic the gathering. By far my favorite Pod Cast. Thank you guys, I let wish you would occasionally cover widener strategy, and Theory on dedicated episodes.

So good!
Love the chemistry of both of the hosts. Their ability to dissect a card from all angles and in different formats is wonderful. For card break downs and deck tech this is by far my favorite cast. Keep it up guys!

Arrogant host ruins it for me
I listen to nearly all the available MTG podcasts and this one is probably in my bottom two. Have only listened to 3 episodes but that was enough for me to be off it. One host seems like a cool, nice guy. The other is extremely arrogant and close minded. He talks as though his opinions are facts and in 3 episodes, didn’t relinquish a single counter-point made by the other host. Makes for some boring dialogue.

Good info from respected people, but...
I love listening to these two, they know what they are talking about and have great insight into what they are talking about. My biggest problem keeping me from 4 or 5 stars is the lack of full thoughts before someone interrupts the thought to throw in whatever they want to say. It doesn’t happen enough to ruin the podcast but it can be a bit much sometimes. I love you two, thank you for this cast and the info you give

The only MTG pod I never miss
Patrick and MJ consistently keep me up to date with what's going on in competitive magic. They do a nice mix of formats, including occasional brews from the dark deaths of Michael's mind.

Solid podcast for spikes that play multiple formats.
The hosts are great fools to each other and can generate deep discussions that wouldn’t happens on any other show.

Mid-Episode Ads
I used to love this podcast unconditionally. The latest episode, however, had what I can only describe as an underwear ad. It had me beyond baffled at its inclusion, and now that it's a day later I am doubting myself that it even happened. An underwear ad in the middle of a Magic podcast? That pairing doesn't scream "target audience" to me at all. I'll gladly contribute to your Patreon if it means I get a show without underwear ads. I'm at your mercy.

Great content & hosts
I don't play any of the major constructed formats, but this podcast keeps me up to date on the happenings in the top 8s of major torunaments, while explaining why the decks are doing well and why the cards selected are the right ones. If you have any interest in improving your game, this is a cast to listen to for sure.

Best MTG cast for constructed
If you play competitive constructed Magic, this is as good as it gets. Patrick Chapin and Mike Flores are legends of the game with decades of experience in tournament play. They cover every competitive format from Standard to Vintage and offer insights on individual cards, decks, and discuss metagames as they evolve. Definitely worth the listen

Great podcast. Audio is a little meh
I love listening to you guys every week. However I have to crank the volume in my car all the way up to listen. Also idk how you would fix it but the traffic and sirens in the background lead to kinda nervous/weird driving situations. If you guys fixed that then it would be immediately 5 stars perfect.

Mediocre
This podcast has some of the best content out there about new magic cards, top strategies, and professional opinions. However, the extremely low audio quality, random auto scrubbing to make half of the episode indecipherable, and low volume of the cast make me give it such a low rating. If these minor issues get fixed I will go to 5 stars immediately.

Great Players
I've been listening to this podcast since week 1. Really have enjoyed it. Has been fun watching Mike get back into the pro tour, and always interesting hearing their take on various cards. Only suggestion I have is that I would they would spend more time talking about various topics that could help improve their listeners game. For example if they dived more into how to tune a deck, how to pick a deck for an upcoming tournament, common play errors, how to be a more consitent player, etc. Feels like you would have a lot to offer.

Helped A Lot!
The way they evaluate cards really helps teach me how to evaluate cards myself. Plus Pat Chapin is the Bomb!
Where's Jaaaaaaames????????
Awesome podcast!
I would appreciate it if you covered older formats like modern + legacy more often though

One episode in an already hooked!
Just finished listening to my first episode of this podcast, and wow! It's awesome to hear insight from 2 great minds in Magic. Hearing a free flowing deck building excercise was fantastic, and all the ins and outs on what 2 top level pros think will definitely be a boon to the folks who listen. If I do have to find a criticism for the show, it would have to be the sound quality. I am only one episode in, so this may have gotten fixed, but I don't want to be hearing you guys typing, I want to be hearing you guys talking! Small fixes can go a long way. Other than that, I hope this show keeps coming, and will definitely recommend it to others! Keep It up!

The best MtG podcast around.
Panda :I
It really is top level!
Two highly skilled and experienced Magic: the Gathering players talking about the game, brainstorming, dispensing advice, analyzing cards and recent events, all in a highly accessible way? Indeed! Hearing pro players discuss the game like is fascinating and fun! This is a classy, deep podcast that I’d strongly recommend you try!

One of the best MTG podcasts, Flores needs to learn his place
This is truly one of the best sources for MTG content, it is this despite Mike Flores' long-winded and self-aggrandizing stories about how he used to be a player back in the day. Dollars to donuts Flores is better at constructed than most, but the real reason that he's here is to prop up his man Pat Chapin, whose insights on the game are truly remarkable. I'm reticent to write this review because I'm worried that I'll lose the percentage points that I've gained on my FNM, but if this review convines Flores to dial back 3 clicks then it will be worth it. To Patrick: Keep doing what you're doing, your a genius and a great story teller Flores: I don't think many people care about decks you designed that were played by great players years ago, they certainly don't care about your ability to reference cards from the dark ages I think your friends find you charming, but it doesn't translate on the cast (this also applies to Top 8). You need to play the straight man to Chapin's expertise. Remember: Missed role assignment = game loss. You're forgetting who the beatdown is brother.
