Love this podcast. The interview with Slater actually gets really deep into who he is and what drives him. The credit goes to Chris for being an bold and vulnerable interviewer. That said - interview more women. And don’t just do Steph Gilmore and pat yourselves on the back. There are PLENTY of female surfers out there that have great stories to tell.

Some episodes shine- particular those that have nothing to do with Firewire. Most of them however are long form ads and are hampered by the insular nature of the industry. Chris has real skill, but needs to be off the reigns more for this to shine.

Chris could do great things with a podcast. Unfortunately, in this incarnation, he’s mostly just doing long-form advertising for FireWire.

Great to hear all the stories on sustainable surf products and how all the interviewees got to where they are. Tomo’s and Slater’s interviews were great, love to hear heir stories and the details in-between.

So happy when I heard about this back on the shred show. Ive learned so much and improved my surfing by finding the right boards what a perfect fit with Firewire. Fast becoming one of my favorite podcasts (look out Joe Rogan lol)

Best surf-related podcast

The show is pretty straightforward but still brings some freshness into the surfing world. To me it does a really good job of going over the subjects and interviews and covering pretty much all of the questions you'd probably have or would want to make yourself. Well worth the tune! Put your earphones and enjoy!

If you like moving sideways on planks of any sort you SHOULD to listen. If you are driven by innovation and conservation you NEED to listen. If you surf you HAVE to listen. This podcast is hosted by the "internets most stoked surfboard enthusiast". Chris Grow is a truly interesting cat with years of experience dissecting the intricacies of surfboard design and helping people find the right board for your needs. This is the kind of show that drops so much knowledge in one episode that I finish one and start it again. Real people having real conversations about topics that affect us all. The Wire is a must if you are interested in anything relating surfing but even if you don't get to the water its a show about mindset and innovation.

After listening to this episode I feel more tapped into who I would like to be than ever before. I don't need to be a pro surfer to have access to the bliss Machado finds on a daily basis. Do yoga, eat well, give back to your peers, reap knowledge from your elders, and in doing so you will be a better human being. I wish Chris could get Gerry Lopez and Jack Johnson for a joint interview just based on the questions that Rob answered. When you aren't surfing what are you doing and is it giving you catharsis? Similar euphoria as a perfect surf session. I don't know how Chris could tie this topic or these people into FireWire boards but there must be a Chuy connection right? This interview was bigger than FireWire and I loved every minute of it. -Kevin Kiler

This is a great pod, in that it features long talks with people who've made surfing a major part of their lives. This podcast is much more of a soul carve than a violent shred, and that's a very good thing.

TRULY INSPIRING - Dan Mann shrugs off a lifetime disciplined evolution as chance - interesting to hear someone so candidly and genuinely reflect on such a career.

Loved the latest interview. I'm a fan of NPR and a fan of The Wire. Love this latest Kelly Kingston segment. Keep it coming.

I was Chris' first guest on this podcast and it was a real pleasure and good fun to participate. Chris is genuinely interested in the subject matter and isn't afraid to let his guests go for it. Surfing has needed a pod like this, props to Chris and The Wire for delivering. I'm always waiting for the next ep to drop, subscription is a no brained for surfers who think (and that's all of us).

Love the first two episodes - I do have one suggestion however... Perhaps after each interview, you could flip the interviewee upside down on a black-cloth-covered table, and gauge their con-cavity & rocker with a yardstick?

Excellent Q&A. Mark and Firewire should be applauded for the effort to make their products greener, and for doing their part to make the world a better place. Although they are doing this out of having a conscience and caring about surfers and the planet, it seems to also be helping their business succeed, as Firewire is one of the top three selling surfboard brands in the world, and possibly number one. Congrats.
