Not concise
Episodes are way longer than they need to be. Very slow to get to the point. The break & ad in the middle is very long. As a parent listening to a parenting podcast, I was hoping for something that was a little shorter and to the point.

Shorter Episodes please!
Interesting, but I find the open way too long as a parent, almost 25 minutes into an episode and she hasn’t even gotten into any substance!

The podcast you’ve been searching for!
I recently found this podcast, and I’ve been listening to as many episodes as I can fit in my day. I wish I had found it sooner! Karen’s advice is solid, and on top of that she’s very pleasant to listen to, and she’s encouraging and uplifting as she does it. There are also many personal applications, not only parenting, to be found in her show that I enjoy. For some reason guest speaker podcasts don’t tend to be my thing, but I find even those episodes to be interesting, fun, and helpful. She really makes you feel like you can do this parenting thing. I would love to be a part of this parenting community more.

Food for thought
I came across this podcast by complete accident I’m so happy I did! Every episode provides information that not only helps me become a better parent, but also has helped me improve as a person. I’ve listened to a couple episodes twice just because the information really opens your mind and makes you think beyond what you have always known. Thank you for this podcast!

Good advice
Hi all, thanks so much for the good advice. I have used many of your tips and tricks. I also like your guests too. Thanks for communicating how much you care because sometimes it's lonely. I live in a foreign country and after 9 years I'm still not great with the language. I find myself constantly questioning my parenting because most people here would do most things differently. It's helpful to know you're out there with positive ideas for turning the (sometimes) negative into the positive. It's also comforting to know that you struggle with balancing all of your priorities and that it's okay to not be perfect. From your magic words to your anecdotes and your resources, I find your podcast to be a moment for me to take stock and celebrate the small victories I may forget about in the race to do it all.

Does not get to the point
I don’t mind the rabbit holes that she warns you about but there is so much self promotion and cross referencing of other resources. She had just a few minutes of relevant information. I think it’s misleading

A little frustrating
The topics are great and the advice is good but an episode could be 38 minutes long and she only covers 6 minutes of the topic.
Fireman34!!!
Great topics and information
I appreciate the timely topics and most episodes are helpful but I have to listen to it on 1.5 speed because Karen is sloooow to get her sentence or words out sometimes and it is frustrating. I am happy she chooses her words carefully but she will often go on for 5 minutes about what number show she’s on or something else that has nothing to do with the topic. I am constantly thinking “Get your words out!” And sometimes turn it off all together

No thanks
I was excited to listen to this, so I checked out the best of episodes. I listened to #213. I spent 10 minutes just listening to her talk about herself. I would have liked to listen to something that can help me parent, not how good of a story teller she is. Also, I have littles and I really didn’t appreciate the constant “shut up” she was saying. I had to turn it off. I don’t want my 4 and 2 year old saying that. :(. I’ll have to find another parenting podcast to listen to.

Learning so much!!!
I’m putting in to practice many of Karen’s parenting suggestions/tips and it’s making me a better father. I’m ENJOYING my kids more! I didn’t know that was possible. Thank you!

Wonderful
I was hoping to learn something, but saying spanking teaches your kids that being bigger puts you in control and then her suggestion is to force the child to do what you want them to do by force. Lmbo

Very helpful podcast
I found this podcast a little over a year ago and it has made such a positive difference in my parenting journey. Karen talks about relevant and helpful topics related to raising young kids. She interviews various experts, but also has episodes in which she helps explain what's going on in kids' minds. She has a great website and lots of ways to contact her and to gain extra help with any parenting related questions. She takes the time to respond thoughtfully to questions. Her podcast and her online parenting community (Ninja Parenting Community) have been such valuable tools for me and I spread the word whenever I can! Check out We Turned Out Okay.

Such encouraging, practical, and realistic help
Some days my children's behavior (or more accurately, my reaction to it) leaves me feeling frazzled, frustrated, and guilty. When that happens, I listen to We Turned Out Okay and I can end the day in a good place, armed with a healthier attitude and practical approaches to try out tomorrow.

Educational and Practical
Karen shows a true passion for her work and shares updated research through interviews, education, and experience in Early Childhood development! As an early childhood educator myself, I agree with Karen's approaches and enjoy listening to her podcasts. They're all relatable to parents, family members, and teachers and I would recommend her to anyone working with children or have young children in their lives. She discusses often how adults can better understand how children's brains work, the importance of valuing each developmental milestone or experience they go through, and how we can help them develop to their full capabilities in those experiences! Thanks, Karen for continuing education in the humble and real-life way that you do!!

I'm a believer now!
I was afraid of this podcast because its title Resembled some of the annoying fallacies that I hear from many people I know. "I [drove without a seatbelt, was spanked, played in a field of hemlock] and I'm okay!" I was afraid of this kind of logical fallacy and so I avoided this podcast and I'm sorry I did!! "We turned out okay," is very much in line with the "simplicity parenting" and "kids in nature" trend that I appreciate and benefit from. The pod caster's voice is great and her advice and insight is excellent. Try it!

Sooo good!
I hope this review works, I've tried a couple times. This podcast is a great parenting resource. Karen is straightforward, funny and caring. Most of all, her background in early childhood education means she has the experience and knowledge to back up what she says.

I don’t even have kids
I don’t even have kids but love listening to Karen. I think it is going to help me be a better aunt. Karens kind of caring is right up my alley and she is just plain fun to listen too. It’s also quite apparent that she knows her stuff.

Parents, carve out some time!
Karen is really on to something here. I look at the lives parents lead today and the task lists they generate for themselves and their children and think, “I don’t remember it this way.” Nostalgic and developmental, all in the same breadth. Keep it up Karen!
