COVID is NOT THE FLU!
Ok I came here to listen to a monk talk about some good peaceful stuff and I was so excited. Instead, I listen to the June 23 episode and all I hear is misinformation about the pandemic. Ok. So, I’ve decided to pause this BS and write a trash review. If they have anything better in the podcast I’ll come back and update this. Anyways. So let’s get some facts straight. COVID 19 is NOT THE FLU! It is not like the flu. And the death rate is actually way different. Every year, in the US hundreds of people die cause of the flu. That’s true. BUT, As of today the US has 152,000 people dead. And this virus has only been a threat in the US for 6 months. So let’s do a comparison here. Is 900 < 152,000 people? Yes! It is! I dunno where you got your medical education. But, I think you might need to go back to school, and hopefully an accredited one this time. To the creators of this podcast I implore you to do your research and release updated information. Pease wear a mask, wash your hands and stay safe. Thanks. P.S. please remove Doctor from your description. You’re not a doctor if you can’t even discern the pandemic to be a threat.

I am hereby unsubscribing to your podcast. You are touting an author Robert Kiyosaki who coauthored books with Donald Trump. I’m sorry. He is destroying our country. I can’t be a part of that.

Just listened to the podcast with Dr. O'Bryan published on 9/18/18. What a way to cultivate fear! That leads to stress, and stress isn't generally good for our health. All of what he spoke of came from other folks' research. Regarding understanding your genetic risks for AD, do not find out your APoE status unless you already have life insurance, long term care insurance and health insurance secured for the rest of your life. Your genetics are akin to your social security number. Be very mindful on how you share it. Get the Bredesen Book, look at the recommended tests and than with a qualified and caring M.D., figure out which ones are appropriate for you. Beware of the snake oil. Our understanding of disease continues to evolve. The human body is so complex, definitely, there is no one size fits all category. Be open and discerning.

Bad Attitude
I have listened to and enjoyed several episodes in this series, but was truly shocked by the negativity and rudeness of the host in the June 4, 2018 episode Body Belief. He begins the episode thanking the guest for being interesting and stating how several people apporached for the show just had the same things to say that had already been said. It came of in a very condescending and elitest manner. Despite that I did listen to the episode, and found it very moving. If I continue to encounter negativity this show will no longer be on my listening list.

I like it!
Yeah, honestly stumbled upon this guy by total random chance as I saw a random stranger who I didn't even know talk about it on facebook, you know, one of those friends that friended you and you didn't even really know them, but I did recognize the face. Anyways, I like it for the simple fact that it is modern wellness addressing the problems of old and aging wellness practices. I'm not gonna dive into the description of the show, you'll get that from one episode. The latest episode spawned me to write this. On addressing how disconnected we are from relationships and nature because of technology. Going back in the other direction will not be the long-term answer We need to fuse the two. One thing he said was that if you give your partner hundreds of "micro-touches" throughout the day, essentially easy things, we could address so many ugly relationship problems etc. But what if we did that through more intensive versions of facebook's "poke" system. Like when we guess a trivia answer about our partner "what is was her favorite part about the trip you took in June?" and you get it right then you get two poke points to give her. And once she gets enough poke points from you then it unlocks a virtual kiss video where her avatar comically indulges your avater with kisses. Yes, it's all virtual, but in doing that it will then lead to higher "pokes" in the real world. Anyways, that's what I got right now!

Your credentials mention being a physician and a former Buddhist monk. Why do you feel inclined to drop F-bombs and an assortment of other obscenities? It doesn’t do much for your credibility.

Relatable
Pedram’s realistic views on the daily struggles of a balanced life are applicable, which is what I enjoy. The only way to make lasting change is through taking tiny bits at a time, analyzing, finding an action plan, and implementing. If you try to change everything at once, you become a news year’s resolution statistic. I love his approach and his teaching.

This Podcast Is the Best!
There are many health podcasts and I ought to know I have or am subscribed to several of them. Urban Monk is one of my favorites. I love the various topics Pedram covers across all manners of health involving the physical, spiritual, mental, environmental, farming, food, economics of healthcare, cooking, financial, etc.etc. I've never heard Pedram encourage people to send in reviews and I would suggest that he should so his show can be enjoyed by more people. It's so informative and Pedram is a great interviewer, passionate, and direct. I have enjoyed all the guests he's had on his show. He asks his guests the questions I'm thinking of! Listen and learn people if you care or are your curious about your health, the environment of health, and your loved ones. Guarantee it's not a boring podcast or subject!

Not a fan
I listened to the interview with with Amy Kurtz and felt like I learned nothing. The message of her book is unclear and her strategy of putting together an A-team of doctors and specialists is really only available to the super-rich and connected. Also Pedram Shoji is not a good interviewer. He insulted the profession of actor as less valid than being a health advocate, he mocked the city of Indianapolis and its airport as bum-f*&k Egypt where you couldn't find anything healthy to eat (not true!). When he wasn't being carelessly offensive, he was annoying AF and completely lacking in self-awareness. I won't be wasting my time on this podcast again.

Inspiring, philosophical, and practical down to earth.
Pedram's podcast is one of my favorites and worthy of my time for the following reasons. First, he has exceptional interviewing skills. He is a first rate listener which results in an ability to follow through with some penetrating questions and insightful comments. Second, he is able to translate complex philosophical ideas into common everyday language, a unique gift. Third, while his topics vary widely, they are connected by his desire to inform us of ways we can improve our lives through self-awareness, family, community, health and environment. Fourth, having a background in a Korean Taoist yoga called Sun Do, I appreciated his 100 day gong (committment and discipline) as well as his interviews with his teachers on Taoist philosophy and practice. I can mention more but more importantantly, listening to this podcast is informative, open to many diverse ideas and philosophies, as well as hopeful to our future. Thank you Pedram for the podcast and all you do for us human beings.

Positive outlook on life
Scientific and smart. I learn a lot every time I listen and the guests are very interesting. My favorite thing about this podcast is the broad rang of issues that are talked about, but mostly the silver lining tactic of always, always finding and showing us that good things are happening an we can make huge changes.

Excellent material in these podcasts
I discovered the Urban Monk podcasts a little while ago and have been listening to each new one as it comes out, and also working my way through the back catalogue. There is some very thought provoking material in here. The audio quality is really good too.

Operation Happiness
I loved the interview with Kristi Ling about happiness being work. Sounds counterintuitive, but personal responsibility is always soemthing I preach so now I've been reminded that happiness requires the same work as anything else you want to achieve. Love your podcasts Pedram. You conduct a great interview!!

Inspiring, Compelling & Fresh
I LOVE this podcast. It has truly been a life changer for me and I can’t wait for each new episode to be publsihed. The topics are contemporary, thought provoking and often a new slant on what we need to know in today's times. Pedram has such a comfort with himself that you feel comfortable listening to him. The podcasts are like sitting around the living room with some very bright friends discussing a wide array of brain tickling topics; eat fat/lose weight, community activism for pesticide free parks and schools, how the moon affects our productivity over time, life balance as a new father (my favorite episode - laughed until I cried....and I was driving!!! - Listen at home. ) All in all, this is such a soothing, affirming and thought provoking podcast. It has really been pivotal in changing my perspective and, I don't think Pedram know this, but has also inspired me to re-invent myself as I am approaching 60. I thought I was winding down, but he has shown me that I am just beginning my next act. love, love, love this podcast. It is my all time favorite. It is a must subscribe and must listen show. xoxo to Pedram, all his family and staff. MK Hahn- Dallas

WOW what a podcast to wrap my head around.... one of if not the most impactful podcast to listen to. Momma Bear is fired up and ready to make this change in my town and help others spread this message. I am so overwhelmed with gratitude for these people starting this movement and cannot believe that this is happening without most of our population even being aware of it. I'm standing beside these heros to make an impact in my community immediately. Thank you Pedram for your insight and ability to find these types of gems and bring them on the show. You continue to amaze me.

As a busy mom, entrepreneur and volunteer, I often feel like I am living on fast forward. The Urban Monk reminds me to stop and live in the present, think a little deeper and truly honor the gift of life that I have been given. Great show for anyone who seeks to live more vibrantly, love more passionately or simply just improve upon their current state

Enjoy Listening and Making Note
I enjoy the work that Pedram puts out with Urban Monk. His guests are very diverse and interesting. The topics vary and are relatable to all people seeking a more healthful way of existing, whether in a rural area or in the big city. Pedram asks amazing questions and allows his guests to be the experts and speak. I respect that since some podcasts the hosts try to show they know more than their guests and it becomes distracting. Keep up the great work! I enjoy listening in the evenings when I walk my dog.

Enjoying your podcast
I especially liked the episode with Kaia Van Zandt talking about goddesses - fascinating and informative conversation. Keep up the good work!

Love this podcast!
This podcast is great! Pedram is straight forward, down to earth, knowledgeable, funny and so likable! Im impressed how he interviews women ... Never talking over them and always mastering the take away message of their work. It's also very rare for a male to interview women who have something to talk about besides orgasm (although there's nothing wrong with that, women are knowledgable on a lot more and Pedram clearly acknowledges that). This has been a great positive way to start my morning, looking forward to whatever comes next! Keep being authentic, you have a super fan in me!

Excellent new direction
My husband and I are really happy to experience Pedram flying solo. We have always really respected your take on things; your calm, your consideration of the bigger picture and how you can always bring the conversation back to 1) the point, and 2) how what is being said translates into our daily lives. We like this new project and are looking forward to many thought (and heart) provoking sessions. Please keep them coming while also taking time to honor your own quiet reflection time. --I especially LOVED the interview with Kaia Van Zandt and would like to hear more interviews/discussions that speak to a world that is waking up to the much needed balance between the feminine and masculine energies and working in mutual collaboration rather than the hierarchy that was spoken of.

What a ride
For whatever reason I just started listening to your podcasts this week. It could be the conversation with Abel James that triggered it for me. I am a "householder", dad and manager at work...all of these require levels of "manning up" and leadership. Put your worries to the side and take care of those that depend on you for support or guidance. I started with your conversation w/ Abel and really enjoyed that one as you two or so close it was less of an interview and more of a conversation, loved it. Just don't bring the Kardashians to the Urban Monk-Fat Burning Tribe. They will get lost in the purpose and cause others to lose focus. I then listened to your conversation with Jeff Spencer. It had so many good points both personally and professionally. I shared it with coworkers and the felt the same way. Very motivating and encouraging conversation. Today on my way to work I listened to your conversation with Nick Polizzi. This is timely as my kids are older, our youngest is 12. You guys are right, your entire world changes forever when they're born but there always seems to be a challenge/issue/problem that needs your attention. Because of my work schedule I cherish the time I spend with my children and have taken assignments to maximize my time with them when I can. What I picked up today is to do what you can, in my case I can do more. The balance is whether to do some grownup things without the youngest or center every activity around her. Thanks for the show I've really enjoyed it this week!

Wonderful show.
I don't do television, so I put my headphones on and listen to webinars and podcasts throughout the day. I love this format giving me positive, creative ways to improve my life and my environment. I will certainly continue to listen and will be sharing this with my family and friends! great job thank you.

Crucial conversations
Do yourself a favor and just listen, watch, read anything that Pedram is involved in. Such great meaningful, open, refreshing, important conversations. The episodes with David Wolfe and Nick Polizzi were super good but Kaia Van Zandt stole the show haha. That's a conversation I've yet hear, having listened to years of podcasts, and she blew me away. Definitely going to be reading her book. Nailed it. Love the new podcast Pedram. Get Daniel Vitalis, from Rewild Yourself Podcast, next ;) Cheers!

Inspiring!
This conversation with Pedram Shojai and Kaia Van Zandt is dazzling. Her film,"Silent Goddess", has the potential to change the conversation in a life-changing, planet altering way. It will be no less than revolutionary. I can't wait for the film to be completed and distributed. Listen to this podcast. It contains information we must all assimilate if our species is to survive. It is that important.

The Tribe Continues to Inspire
After having listened to nearly every episode of The Health Bridge (and some of them twice), I was thrilled to see Pedram bring his podcast game to yet another level with Urban Monk. Pedram continues to tap into deeply rich topics that compel the listener to step into each moment in life with a heightened state of mindfulness - to question the psychosocial and political mores that confine humanity, and to step up in the name of deeper, radiating peace. His - and his guests' - knowledge base is wide and profound, consistently armed with intelligent and witty vernacular. And of course, you've got to love that Pedram has mastered the art of teaching without preaching. The kind of guy you can meditate then grab a beer with (if he's not on a gong that is). It's an honor to witness his mission in motion, and to integrate the lessons from these podcasts into one's flow.

Great Interview
Loved the interview with Kaia Van Zandt. Listening to her speak about how we hide our feminine side be cause we are taught that woman don't matter resonated with me. I am definitely going to explore how to bring that side of me into the present. Can't wait for her movie, Silent Goddess.
