1000/10 so good
I just finished binging all of season 3, the Chicago Center for the Supernatural, and all I can say is WOW. These characters are so dynamic and interesting, and they have such distinct personalities. Their stories feel so real and heartfelt, I loved every single one. And, as a Chicago resident myself, I loved how much I recognized from my city. The love of Chicago is palpable, and it made the show that much more meaningful! I love this show, instant recommend to the rest of my friends, and I’ll be crying over the finale for the next week.

All time favorite!!!
I am always surprised and delighted when I listen to this podcast!!! I’ve been replaying the episodes right now and they have brought me so much comfort.

man are these stories great
Review of the whole series: seasons 1, 2, and 6 are stand-alone short stories and they are all excellent. Season 3 is one long story spread over 12 short stories. Listen to them all in order. (Except for episode 8.. You will want to listen to that one 3 or 4 times over & over). Season 4 is three hour-long stories. All excelent, but allocate the time so you can listen to the whole story without being interupted. You will probably end up listening to the second one multiple times.

I wait at the edge of my seat for each season

Great stories
These stories have brilliant insights, including but not limited to: the greatest test of your courage and resolve, the time your soul will be weighed in the balance and found wanting, will be when you go shopping for furniture with your spouse.

Capricorn is always right!
Great story to start off season 5! Love the podcast. I look forward to each week’s show. The messages of monsters tell us a great deal about being human. This story telling is following in the footsteps of great authors, think Mary Shelley, who use the supernatural to portray the natural world through a powerful lens. I listen to every episode.

Listen right now. Like now.
Every season I think “there’s no way she can top this” and then she does. This podcast is amazing. It is beautifully written beautifully performed. It offers an escape, a light, a source of joy to all who listen.

Season 3 is great
I binged it. I especially like the way different episodes were told in different genres like romantic comedy, horror and detective story. I cried at the finale.

Delightful
Carrie has really grown as a storyteller and I absolutely loved season 2. Can’t wait to see what is in store for season 3. Keep up the great work!

100% a fan
This is one of the podcasts I look forward to appearing in my feed every week. The characters, the stories, the weaving of supernatural and natural together, it’s just sooo good. I laugh, I cry, I sob, and I can’t wait for the next season!

Delightful
I am sometimes annoyed when someone is referred to as a “delight”, but listening to Carolyn Rahaman’s stories and her voice... it’s just a delight.

Delightful
I loved, loved, LOVED the first season, but the third season is even better. The characters are so rich and well developed, but Carolyn Rahaman's whimsy and creativity are somehow not at all lost in this more character-driven season.

Charming
I second the review titled “This is so charming.” I am especially enjoying the third season! Love the way each season has its own unique format; familiar yet fresh at the same time.

yes, Yes, YES!!!
I had listened to a couple episodes of season one and two and quite enjoyed the clever and dreamlike interpretation of mythic creatures for the modern era, but I have fallen so deeply in love with season three's interweaving characters and storylines that I just HAD to leave a review. Every episode leaves a smile on my face, and I'm holding out hope we can see August and Grant get together! Please listen to this podcast, I guarantee you'll be delighted.

Oh man....I'm addicted
Just what I needed...another addiction. Well, I think I can rank this as a healthy addiction. I mean, it brings me joy, totally entertains me, and has only positive side effects (these stories inspire me to get moving with my own creations). I have the feeling that I'm getting an early glimpse at the work of someone who's going to make it big! Seriously, you really can't go wrong. Just don't say no :)

Magical realism ftw
This podcast is so fun! I love the combination of magical worlds colliding with our world. Short and sweet stories and it’s hard to stop myself from bingeing them all and then getting really sad when the season is over. Looking forward to season 3!

These stories are amazing.
Update with season 2: I didn’t know how they would keep these interesting and not repetitive but they did it. Amazing. If anyone loves stores they need this podcast. It is beautiful and wonderful and the stories are magical.

Great Podcast
This is a wonderfully written podcast. Carolyn does a great job bring these stories to life as you listen to them. It always seems to have a twist at the end that you do not expect. Keep up the great work.

Charming, subtle, profound
The tone, pacing, and wordplay are always spot-on. The seamless weave of charming whimsy with profound, deftly drawn vignettes of everyday life give the 20% True podcast a voice unlike any other. The other 80% is art that uses fantasy to speak truth.

So very enjoyable
Every time one of these charming, well written, entertaining stories pop up in my podcast queue I smile. There’s something about the tone of these tales which sets them apart from all other short stories involving monsters and unexplained creatures. Every episode takes a unique turn and puts a special spin on these creatures. I look forward to the next tale (or is it ‘tail’?).

Delightful
This is everything I love about folklore based short stories in podcast form! I’ve marathoned the entirety, and my only complaint is that there isn’t more of it.

So sweet, so much heart!
These are wonderful small stories that are very human. Carolyn Rahaman creates believable characters in a very short format. The tone is lovely and the tales are charming!

Delightful
Using fairytales and the extraordinary to confront everyday life type stuff is so much fun. I think CS Lewis would be proud.
A picture is worth
Great short stories! Can't wait for more!
I love audiobooks and short stories so I was excited to hear about Levar Burton Reads, but I'm not completely keen on all of his choices. Personally, I love about 50% of his choices. This podcast, though, is almost batting 100% for me personally. Even some of the slightly weaker stories still contain great ideas and fun twists on what I'm calling the "ordinary fantasy" genre. Sort of reminiscent of Neil Gaiman the way there's magic but, ya know, of COURSE he's a vampire or she's immortal or whatever. Very fun, very creative and each story is only about 15 minutes so an easy commitment. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for more from the author, and I think you'll hear more about here in the future. Keep it up and thank you!!

Amazing!
Genuinely lovely, reminds me of things my vaguely morbid mother might have told me at bedtime when I was a kid! I have broken my general thing of not writing reviews just to recommend this. It's good.

Clever and fun short stories
I loved these stories so much! They are well written, clever and (mostly) heartwarming. Also, Carolyn's voice is expressive and adorable. I am very eager to hear season 2.

Creative and imaginative
If you like fantasy short stories, you'll enjoy this podcast. The stories remind me of those by Kelly Link and Ken Liu, which, in my opinion, is a compliment. I hope there will be a second season!

This is so charming
Neat, smart, beautifully descriptive stories, part frank modern fable, part surreal fantasy. They remind me a little of Kij Johnson and Kelly Link, and of the occasional fiction segments on This American Life. I enjoy how unpredictable yet prosaic they are. Looking forward to more!
