Poorly executed
A number of the episodes are poorly produced. Though the topics are interesting the content doesn’t feel well thought out with an unbiased analytical mind. It feels like everything has a surface understanding without a lot of depth, and a lot of emotional opinion stating.

Fascinating!
This podcast is so, so good! I listen to many podcasts and this is one of my favorite ones. Highly recommend.

Mark David Chapman murdered John Lennon
I was listening to season 1. To suggest Lennon’s murder was connected to the lives and actions of Eugene O’Neill, his daughter Oona and JD Salinger writing Catcher In The Rye is completely contrived. I didn’t even listen to the episode about Vladimir Lenin. John Lennon was murdered because Mark David Chapman is mentally ill and violent. If Chapman didn’t read Catcher In The Rye then I’m sure there is some other book that his sick mind could have twisted around for the same purpose. This podcast is almost as if a greedy conspiracy theorist came up with it.

Tired of new podcast advertising.
Love the episodes but so tired of getting excited about a new episode only to find its a 5min. Advertisement for a new podcast. Couldn’t this be shown as advertising instead of a new episode?

Great thread through history of the fight for equality for women and those who led the way!

Fabulous Threading
Wow!! I never knew how many events in history are related to another event in history. Thank you for making history interesting. I’ve even got my 13 & 15 year old grand children hooked. I’m shocked at the history lessons not being taught in schools.

Just finished season 1
And I am amazed by the historical threading. We’ll see how I feel about the following seasons, which other seem unimpressed with, but so far I’m a fan!

Great story and threads the needle
I just finished the last season on US women’s soccer. As a 57 year old woman, I truly appreciated the history and stories behind all the women and men involved. I got to play on my high school’s first girls’ tennis team and am ever grateful for Title IX. Terrific work. Thanks!

Beyond Soccer - Great Podcast (Notes from a sound designer)
Wasn't sure what to expect with this because I'm not a big soccer fan, but as a sound designer by trade, I'm always curious to hear new shows in genres I don't usually listen to. First off, this is one of the best sounding shows I've heard recently so I'm not sure what the commenters below are referring to. In a podcast world full of basement and garage recordings, even from reputable networks, this sounds polished and well-produced and the sound design throughout the season has been stellar. More importantly, this is so not just a soccer podcast. I'm love learning more about the women who led the way in sports equality. Looking forward to checking out past seasons after this!

Season 5 sound editing messed up
Liked Season 1 a lot, but haven't been hugely impressed since. However, I was looking forward to the Season 5 launch. The topic is interesting--good potential there. But the sound editing is terrible. The narrator is normal volume, but the interviewees and soundbites--especially the women--can barely be heard at the same setting. That degraded the quality of the episode overall, and my interest is waning fast.

A heartwarming look back
If you grew up in the 90s you’ll certainly remember the moment when the U.S. women’s team won the World Cup against China. This season takes you inside that journey and so far it’s fascinating and quite emotional!

The story behind the story
I remember the Brandi Chastain moment so well but I learned a ton of new things from this podcast! Sean Braswell is so great at weaving together these fascinating stories.

This season is amazing!
Really excited for season 5. Episode one is dope. Not a sports fan but this is great.

Inspired
If the first episode is anything to go by, this season’s gonna be super-inspiring. This is calmer than many podcasts, and you feel lik there’s proper thinking in it. Love.

No thanks on new season
Sounds like more PC, “me too” stuff getting crammed at us

Good podcast
Very good podcast, storyline and narration. For this season, though, you just need to work in your pronunciation of “soccer” Whenever you say soccer it must sound |football| ⚽️ You know 🦶🏻and an actual ⚽️ Practice makes perfect, I know you can do it 😉👌🏻 Other than that, you are doing an excellent job

Not too Impressed
The first season was great. You could follow the thread and I really liked it. But the following seasons really had to stretch to find the thread. If they go back and do a “six degrees of separation” type thread, it may get better.

Season 1 was good, but has fallen apart since
Every season gets worse. The last season is probably my last. E5 is just a repeat of E4, and in spite of everyone telling them about the mistake, it hasn’t been fixed, which shows how much they don’t give a crap. They are just phoning it in now.

Your stretching , the thread often breaks.

A note from the show!
Hi everyone, Thread team here. Thank you for listening! We were made aware of the glitch with episode 5 (of season 4) immediately after it was published last week. We fixed the error but — due to the nature of auto-download for subscribers — unfortunately, the only way to correct it on your device is to DELETE the old file from your device, CLOSE and REOPEN THE APP and REDOWNLOAD the new file. Thanks again!

Love the show but can’t listen to the Francis Scott key episode because episode #4 was uploaded in error. Please refresh episode 5 with the actual episode 5! :)

Please fix
Is anyone at ozy checking the uploaded podcasts or reading these reviews? It has been almost a week since the wrong episode was posted.

Something is wrong with new episode!
It says it’s a new episode put it is the same as last week’s! Someone must have uploaded it wrong

Episodes are misnamed
Season 4 episode 5 is playing season 4 episode 4. Otherwise I really like it.

Solid podcast, but s4e5 is a repeat of s4e4!
It appears that you’ve reposted the episode from last week (s4e4) instead of this week’s episode on Francis Scott Key’s son. Maybe my iTunes is malfunctioning- but please check this! In general this podcast is solid, though sometimes the narrators make contradictory, rather nonsensical or redundant assertions- I’d love to see the writers focus on digging more into the “why,” rather than churning out catchy but not always illuminating sound bytes!

Wrong audio
The most recent episode has the wrong audio. It’s the same as the last episode - the Standford White Murder is there when it should be about Francis Scott Key’s son.

Episode mix up
Hi! I love the show! I think today’s episode was accidentally replaced by last weeks episode. Could this be updated?

First season is best
The subsequent seasons have been almost garbage. And the narrator sounds like he needs a glass of water. The amount of mouth noises is so intense it’s like nails on a chalkboard. Move away from the microphone and speak louder !

Historical, Biographical, Excellent narrative!
I simply love this Podcast. There are people that link to others in the distant past and some I normally wouldn’t have cared to read about. This podcast makes learning about ANYONE from the past interesting. I’d give it 6 stars if I could!

Music is silly
Love the stories and the way they’re told but the original music is a little ridiculous

Good content. Bad sound mixing.
I like everything about this podcast EXCEPT the narration. The sound mixing or narrator need to be adjusted. Everything sounds like it's nearly whispered, or like he is running out of breath. I can actually hear the saliva content of the narrator's mouth. Please, please do anything to fix the audio narration.

Great premise, but ...
I really like the show’s premise. The first season connecting Lennon to Lenin was wonderful. However, I’m disturbed by this latest series on murder by way of insanity. Way too much attention has been paid to these shooters and mass murderers. These are the people who killed and negatively affected the lives of hundreds and hundreds. As a society we need to stop giving these shooters this type of attention. I continue to be disturbed by television shows, podcasts, and news outlets that give these individuals so much attention. We are better than this! Stop using their names. Remember the victims and their families. How many times in the first episode was the shooter’s name used compared to names of the victims. It’s a gross focus on the people behind these shootings and murders. We are better than this! We need to be better than this!! I’m not sure I will listen to this podcast again after this series is over.

Surprising connections between the present to the past
If you want to get away from all of the current political madness, listen to this super-interesting podcast on the history of the insanity defence! What constitutes insanity in law, how is it different from a medical diagnosis, and what does the public’s reaction to rulings that exculpate perpetrators on the basis of insanity tell us about how we think about justice.

Fascinating podcast
This podcast is intriguing. I just finished season 1 and am fascinated by all the connections made. Great work.

Good but...
There’s an addictive quality to this podcast. I love how I am able to learn about history and how some of it weaves together. But I do feel like I have to suspend my belief sometimes when the creators go through the “threads”. Some of the connections made seem to be a stretch because the logic seems to be whatever fits and ties these “threads” together. Like I expected in the latest season to go to the beliefs of Christianity and the teachings of Jesus since MOST of the commonality between the people they picked seemed to be that. But it was only given a nod not the exposition that I had expected. It’s definitely not an unbiased look at history, but rarely does anyone look at history without the lenses they want to use. Overall it’s worth a listen.

My favorite podcast!
The storytelling is compelling and well versed....so addicted I listened to the first 3 seasons in 3 days! I can't wait for a new season already!

This is amazing.
I learned more about Martin Luther King, Bayard Rustin, Gandhi, Tolstoy and the other guy than I ever imagined. I thought I knew more than I did. I was totally absorbed. I laughed. I cried. I felt feeling of longing and grief for a world where love is the instrument by which we resist evil. I think everyone should listen to it.

Not too much new...
If we’re taking a steely eye to the truth don’t forget to mention all those white sheriffs were Democrats and King and most blacks were Republicans. Also, Rosa Parks was an activist and the arrest was coordinated. Production quality is excellent, but please dig deeper from the typical narrative.
moho123
Excellent storytelling
A captivating narrative, touching on the dots between actors and events of history and tracing back the “thread” that connects them. Great production from Ozy, looking forward to the next season.
