Creative and interesting
Really enjoyed the creativity and format of this podcast. I found it hard to relate to the main character, could be I’m the wrong age audience. Would try another podcast by this creator in the future.

Timeless
I listen to this every winter. So foreword thinking, produced with craft.

Fantastic, intimate storytelling
I can’t think of a piece of audio fiction that felt more intimate and closely-observed than The Shadows. It’s zany at times, deeply thoughtful, rich in its sound design, and totally worth your time. Looking forward to “Appearances,” the new show from Kaitlin’s Mermaid Palace podcast operation.

I binged this in a day. It’s amazing. I love the story and the audio quality. Great job Kaitlin! Update: I still think about this story from time to time. It will stick with you.

So good!
Why aren’t there more podcasts like this? The narrative structure. The sound work. The relevance. It’s just so good.

Listened to this in a day 🙃

Real
So hard to listen to at times. Only because it dredges up feelings of longing and love that I remember now so keenly. I’ve been feeling kinda detached, lately. This helps reel be back into the land of the living. 👏🏼👏🏼

So easy to binge!
It’s hard to cheer for Kaitlyn sometimes but we are all imperfect and that’s what makes us human. Definitely worth listening to!

Phenomenal
Listened to it 3 times.

Captivating
I found myself oddly captivated from the start. And then I kept agreeing, maybe even yelling, that’s so true! I related. I’ve been through the overly dramatic breakups of my twenties. Now I sit at forty, recently divorced, with time to reflect on the carnage that we call love and life. And like Kaitlin, I still have no real answers or know what in the hell I'm doing! Thank you.

Puppetry power couple 😂
This author is incredible. I love all her stuff. I listened to Asking For It first and found this gem through that. I am really in love with the raw emotion she conjures. This is so real; I identify with a lot of the problems her characters face. It’s an honest look at love and life that people are afraid to say out loud. Way to go! Also, the puppetry theme was interesting..definitely not the same thing in every other love story. “Puppetry power couple” 😂

Fresh, creative, and deeply profound
From one audio artist to another, thank you for this. It’s evocative, creative, and gracefully portrays so many different relatable perspectives on love, relationships, and the difficulty in navigating all of it. I feel like Normalizing Non-Monogamy should tag this as a resource for those exploring the lifestyle. Found so many moments I could relate to.

Self indulgent
Overthinking, love crazy girl takes up puppetry. Well done, but listening to her obsessive, self absorbed thoughts continuously is a bit much.

I really enjoyed this podcast! It’s a great listen.

90% perfect
I love the originality so much. Sound quality is amazing. Storyline is great. However. The kissing sounds go on for way too long. And I never want to hear the word “sweater” again.

Fabulous
Put in your headphones, close your eyes and be enveloped by the intimacy of this lovely story.

One of the best Podcasts
I love this podcast so much! I hope more content is coming
Love thisssss
Simply amazing.
Wow. Yeah, this is hella good. Heartfelt and super relatable as a 20-something queer artist living in the city. It’s kind of terrifying how accurately believable the emotion is, the voice actors alone are amazing. Plus, I love the idea of puppetry being something the main characters love a lot. Overall, an amazing and feelings-filled journey

Wild and Awesome
I love the way the audio is done. I also now want to become a street musician. I super relate to so many aspects of the story and it makes you think about love and so much more!

Brilliant, weird, thought provoking.. best in its field
I just finished episode 6 and barely know where to begin. the best script and voice acting of any podcast in its field. I laughed, I cried, I felt deep relation to the characters and also disgusted by them (a reflection of the compassion and mistrust I feel for my own thoughts & behaviors). I felt freedom and also discomfort. Listen to this podcast.. it opens the door to ponder existential questions about love, commitment, the purpose of it all.. its weird and it will make you feel emotions all over the spectrum. Love the work of KP and the shadows team!

Woah
This show is a beautiful piece of art work, a little different than anything of the same format, so don’t try to listen in passing. I think the perspective of the main character is very authentic, the whole piece is vulnerable in a lot of ways. It sliced through my judgement and made me feel a part of something, just like a good old 80’s sitcom. More please!!

binge worthy
just binged this entire season in a day. loved the duration of it all! thank you for the entertainment and thoughts about love!!

Loved this podcast... broke my heart. Felt all the feels that I try to ignore during a break up. Reminds me of how much I want to be loved and how much I want to be alone. Thank you. Needed this.

I think this project is wonderful, creative, and great. It sounds real and i kept wondering if this chick was recording real conversations and cutting them. I love it. Thank you.

Best podcast storytelling magic!!
After days of sorting through endless podcasts to listen to while I weave Christmas presents this is by far the best podcast my friends could have recommended. So caught up in this whimsical story. Thank you for creating 🙏

Love the magic of Kaitlin and team! Happy to find this after the end of The Heart. The only trouble is- the levels make it difficult to hear? I've only heard the first two episodes so far and i had to keep turning my volume up and down in order to hear everything. I wanna hear it all!

Creative and emotional storytelling
The next time you want to binge a random Netflix show, buckle in and binge this podcast. I ended up listening to the entire series pretty much back-to-back, which made it easy to follow and allowed me to keep up with the intimate details shared among the characters. Kaitlin Prest is an expert storyteller and her team of producers and other audio magicians have created an immersive, well-crafted, gut-wrenching auditory delight. Perfect for lovers of The Heart.

World building so beautifully
This is such a creative, wry, fun listen. Have not heard anything like it! A woman’s inner life expressed, truly such a gem. The edit is crazy good and I can’t focus on anything else while I’m listening 🙌

Incredible!
I listened to all 6 episodes and I am so impressed with the level of creative genius and deep questions shared. I love this podcast!!!!
Aletta little dove
This queer felt very baited.
I think the audio design of the podcast is remarkable. The story wasn’t engaging enough to make it through episode 2 though. It feels very manic-pixie-dream girl meets super unavailable emotionally stunted white guy. I was excited by how queer it seemed in ep1 (KP is dating a non-binary person polyamorously) but then kind of quickly turns into a heteronormative love story with questionable consent. I didn’t make it past ep2 so I don’t know if it makes good on its queer promise, but I am left feeling like I was queerbaited into a cishet love story.

Unf, perfect.
Absolutely loved this! I was a big fan of The Heart and this did not disapoint. It is a poignant and emotional reflection on modern relationships—and Kaitlin Prest makes the best sex sounds. Very well done!

Loved it!!!
Wow, this is do well done! It pulled me in and held me like a very good book, til the very end! It’s so thoughtful and thought-provoking. The acting is great and the internal dialogue and whispers make it rich.

A little flat
I listened to most of the first episode and had to switch to something else. Basically all I kept asking myself is simply - "Why is she putting herself in a situation where she knows the guys she is with are expecting sex. I mean LITERALLY gets in their beds and letting them touch and rub on her???" I get that a person might for some reason decide not to want sex after starting in, but they way the story played out, she was pretty straight-up leading these guys on and pushing their boundaries, and THEN getting bent out of shape after the fact. No definitely means no, so say it like you mean it. Girl, figure out what you want and don't want and keep a clearer line about it. Men often miss obvious signals; how on earth do you expect them to read your mind?
