Quora-length second review/interrogation
I’ve reviewed this podcast before but I though I’d review it again, mostly for some comments and questions of my own but also to encourage all of the newbies who are listening to the Weird Sisters for the first time! Also, not sure if the user name will be the same, but last time I reviewed I was something with a bunch of symbols, I think the euro sign, but that’s because there is some weird security adjustment. Anyways, onto the important stuff. Sorry in advance if this review turns out to be as long as some Quora answers. First off, Martha, I too am a lover of broccoli and I don’t know why more people don’t like it. I also love you Jim Dale and Peeves impressions. Second, I feel like an idiot, but who’s Bim? I’ve been trying to figure it out and I’m stumped. And would you please do a sorting hat of Survivor: Kaôh Rōng? (Aka brains vs brawn vs Beaty). It’s one of my favorite seasons so far. Also, I’m sure you’re at least somewhat aware of the Dumbledore and McGonagall ship. Even though Dumbledore was announced as gay there are still shipers out there so I’m just curious about your thoughts on them. One last thing, if you haven’t seen the ‘gen z’ Harry Potter meme, it’s a must see. Thanks for the amazing podcast!! (And my “review” was as long as a Quora answer. That made me laauf)

Smartest Harry Potter podcast
I won't own up to this in a court of law, but I’m an avid listener to multiple Harry Potter podcasts. Alice and Martha are by far the best hosts out of all the others. They offer the smartest takes and their in depth looks at various characters is so fun. Also the Jim Dale impersonation is lovely and always great for a good lauuff.

Favorite podcast
This is my favorite podcast! I absolutely love listening to Alice and Martha, especially their impressions. They know the Harry Potter books forward and backward and I love hearing their opinions about my favorite book series. I’m so glad they decided to do character studies so I still have new shows to listen to each week. I also love the Take 5 series even though we all have to suffer with Tim. I would like to formally apologize for the first review I left many years ago where I praised Tim and said I enjoyed learning about film techniques which I think lead to the thankfully-now-over segment on the Take 5 series. I had just started the podcast at the time and didn’t realize the mistake I made including that in my review. To the sisters and everyone who suffered as a result, I’m so sorry. I will continue to listen to this podcast for as long as the sisters make new episodes!

The weird sisters you always wanted!
This podcast is a wonderful mix of goofy fun and obvious deep lore knowledge. Martha and Alice are so witty and know the series very well. The tone makes it feel like you are just hanging out with friends talking about your favorite series. I have been listening to them since 2017 and have enjoys multiple relistens and read alongs. Definitely worth the time for any new listeners to catch up to current!

A Great Revisit of the Potter Series
I’ve been listening for about a year and am not caught up but I have finished the reread podcasts. This podcasts hosts are fun to listen to. They are smart, charming, and funny and obviously knowledgeable Potterheads. I especially love Martha’s impressions. I really enjoy the special topic episodes (the annual hunger games specials are my favorite). A great listen for any Potterhead.

You’re both ugly. Martha sounds like she needs an ears nose and throat doctor and Martha reminds me of that girl from Ned’s declassified school survival guide.

Nothing to Nag On
I really have been struggling to find a good Harry Potter related podcast, until I stumbled upon this. In my opinion, this is the best one you could find. The fact that Alice is a librarian is even better. I love going back and being able to see things I never noticed, they really touch on this. Their great at finding things that maybe most of us never would have thought as important. I’d recommend this to anyone, however, for those that may dislike the spoilers... This is a podcast that is about RE-READING the series. For me, I’ve already read it through and through, but I think touching on things in the future that go along with things in the past, would be hard not to say. Martha and Alice are great and are really endearing. I’d have Alice as my librarian any day. I also have a pronunciation shoutout. Knut, is actually pronounced “nut”. Erised is Er Eyesed. I always could be wrong, that’s just how I pronounce it. Cats are my favorite animal so this is great!

Finally reviewing
I’ve been listening to this podcast for years now. I don’t remember exactly when I started listening, but it was shortly after the character studies had started. I remember listening to one of the most recent episodes at the time, which was the first Ron character study, and being confused by who you were and what you were talking about. I went all the way back and started with the first episode. I’ve been waiting to write a review until I was all the way caught up, which I finally am. I’m a big Harry Potter nerd, and I’m also a writing/reading nerd in general. I love to over-analyze and deep dive into things I love, like Alice and Martha do. I like hearing different perspectives on some things, and I’ve also realized things I agree with that I didn’t think about until you pointed them out, like how Harry is actually a sensitive and introspective guy. I also agree with you both on your hatred of Snape. I love the character studies. I’m a writer, and coming up with characters is my favorite part about writing. I love analyzing characters, talking about their personalities and motivations. I also love the Take Fives. The Quora Question of the Week really is my favorite segment. I enjoy Tim, he’s super funny and entertaining. Thanks for continuing this podcast for so long and finding new ways to discuss the series!

Love this podcast!!
I love listening to this podcast! I have always loved Harry Potter and this podcast is perfect for me! Although I am often shouting disagreements, I can’t help but listen to the next episode! One point I must make is in the character study, Albus Dumbledore part 2, Dumbledore most likely kept the school open because he knew it had something to with Riddle, which he could think that could go along with parseltoung which he would need Harry for that. Love the Podcast!

Some things irk me
Harry Potter is basically my personality and I have been listening to this podcast for a while and trying to decide how I feel about it. I feel like the hosts try pushing their opinions way to much and are so negative about certain actors. Some of us over here LOVE Hagrid and Michael Gambin and would really appreciate it if you stop hating on them and being so negative. Not to mention you all do not respect the dead at all. So many of these actors have tragically passed away and you keep making fun of them. Also Tim, no one cares how you feel about Daniel Radcliffe. Your hating on him so much for his acting skills in the first movie when HE WAS A CHILD. The point of the first movie is supposed to be fun and create this world of magic and set up the audience for a smash hit series. Complaining about Harry’s acting skills is so lame when that’s not the point of the movie. I don’t care if you have a degree in film and I bet others feel the same. Your entitled to your own opinion, but you sound so snobby making it seem like it’s the only right one. Finishing up, I love all things Harry Potter but please please stop pushing and sneaking your political views into the podcasts.

I love listening to this while drawing
I’ll often find myself listening to an episode and thinking “ooh, I hope they’ll talk about *weirdly specific HP trivia that I’ve thought about for years*” and they almost always do! Love a mind-reading podcast. I just listened to the Half-Magic episode, which was lovely because I don’t know anyone else who’s read that series and it was great to finally hear someone talk about it! I’m glad to hear them addressing JKR’s issues too—thanks for not glossing over that. Can’t wait for more! <3

Sorry it took me so long to review I love you guys
I have been listening to them from the start and have been a patron for like 5 years. They are my fave! They always make me laugh out loud. I could probably listen to them discuss the fine details of a phone book if they wanted to.

A simply amazing podcast
This podcast has brought me so much joy! I was obsessed with HP growing up but kind of fell away from it as I got older. Since working remote I have been looking for a podcast that is both lighthearted and relatable. This podcast is that but so much more. My inner HP nerd has come back in full swing. I am laughing at and discovering things about the books and movies that I somehow missed in my so many rereads and movie rewatches. Alice and Martha are QUEENS and Shutup Tim is my favorite recurring guest (not third sister). Being from a Detroit suburb I also appreciate the theme song. Stay cool, sisters!

TAKE 5 IS BACK BABEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am just editing my old review because I can’t figure out how to make a new one, so here we go! (If that doesn’t make sense, it doesn’t to me either.) I’m so excited there are new Take 5’s. I had probably listened to all 27 of the POA ones at least a dozen times each. I even listen to them to help me sleep, not because they’re boring, but because your voices are familiar and soothing. Alice, Martha, and Tim just seem like nice, happy people in real life. They bring up things I never thought about in the movies and books, and they just seem like the friends everyone needs. 😁😇😍🤯

I love this podcast so much! It’s amazing to listen to when your cleaning doing chores etc or when your little sisters are yelling at each other (they are one and four). I also get your sister relationship because me and my sister are 6 yrs apart almost 7.It’s nice that your podcast is clean seeing as I’m only eleven.I absolutely adore the Harry Potter books! (the movies we don’t talk about)I’m currently reading the series for the fifth time.Thank you for being so amazing! P.s Hedwig and Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank are QUEEN!

Redeeming my old review
I made a stupid review that I cringe at when I see it. I won’t say which one it was. I love this! I look forward to listening every week. Into the penseive episodes are my favorite. Please do more sorting hat episodes. I want a full house one ( I don’t care that it is soooo old. I am weird like that) . You guys are so cool. Martha is is a teacher and Alice is a librarian ( forgive me if I’m wrong) which are both jobs I have considered doing when I grow up. You are role models for me. Harry Potter is my life and that is you’re entire thing! I started listening recently and I listen to your newest episode then go back and listen to other interesting episodes. I like cleaning on Saturdays now because I listen to you the whole time! HARRY POTTER IS LIFE!!!!!!!! P. S. Sorry I’m not a patreon. I want to but I am a Hufflepuff and too afraid to ask my parents.

How have I waited this long?! These sisters are awesome!
I am one of the listeners who have waited ages to write a review. I started listening while at a dead-end boring job 5 years ago and I turned to podcasts to get me through. Imagining what outfit I’d be stuck in as a ghost and chuckling at inside jokes filled the hours and I’m happy to say I’ve been at a much better job for the past 4 years. Your podcast has continued to be a source of comfort and continuity for me and I thank you staying weird. Huh-woo!!

Best Harry Potter Podcast!!!
This is a great podcast. I really enjoy listening to it. Many charges of my headphones were needed due to constant listening. I am aware of the level of literacy in the sisters and want too badly to get a compliment on my writing ability. Stated succinctly, this podcast will meet all your entertainment needs. Time spent listening will surely (don’t call me) put a smile on your face. Hardly a moment goes by when I am not attempting to suppress a smile that would be out of context for the unaware citizenry that make up my day to day routines. Emphatic praise must be given to the resourcefulness and knowledge it must take to create content week in and week out. 3 lifetimes would not be enough to truly appreciate the product created here. Rationally I know there may be a better use of my time then attempting to create this acrostic message. Drink deeply from the fountain that is this podcast. Suffice to say that if you took the first word from each of the sentences in the body of this review, there is a hidden message. Inescapable is the message that brevity is the soul of wit. So it is with a heavy heart and tired fingers I conclude that an abbreviation of “sister” will do to cap off this review. Edit: Never forget the importance of having someone read your work before submitting. Ostensibly, my repetition of the phrase “suffice to say” could have been caught before being read aloud on this podcast. Time will tell if this error can be remedied by my further acrostic ramblings taking place after my edit point, as well as the changing of the original.

I like it so much!
I’m probably the third sister and I’ve been listening to this for months. My favorite book is the Order of the Phoenix, precisely chapter is Luna Lovegood, this is the chapter Harry meets Luna, it’s real great. My favorite character is Severus Snape, without him, none of this would have happened. I’m is Ravenclaw and my patronus is a hummingbird. I love this podcast, and I wanted to give it 20 stars, but that’s not possible.

I recently started listening to a podcast that has a similar format and it’s really neat to be able to listen to more than one person’s perspective on the hp series.

A wealth of entertainment
My daughters and I recently found this podcast and we have been listening to one episode at bedtime each night. My eight-year-old likes to follow along in the books and my five-year-old just likes to listen. I knew this was a winner the first time I heard the intro song! Thanks to the real weird sisters for providing us with hours and hours of entertainment.

An amazing Harry Potter podcast
I have been listening to Alice and Martha since the beginning of the pandemic and have loved going through the book club episodes with them. They are so funny and do an amazing job doing deep dives into the Harry Potter universe! They truly seem like people I would be friends with in real life! I love how they make connections between all the books. I was worried I wouldn’t be interested in the character studies, but have really enjoyed listening to them as well! I worried it would seem repetitive from the book club episodes, but they keep a fresh perspective, and I like following character arcs! Keep up the great work! Edit: I keep trying to post this (originally thought it posted over a year ago!) and it keeps unpublishing my review and rating! I’ve almost completed a full second listen to all book clubs, character studies, and take fives!

Logo and theme song
Delightful graphic/logo, and best opening theme song! It’s fun to hear the relationship as sisters, and great that you have done this podcast for so long. I’ve even gotten used to Tim (who once annoyed me but now has grown on me and I appreciate his contributions).

Good and Bad
I have just gotten through the first book and movie episodes, so I may post another review later, when I am further along. On the positive side, I really appreciate the frequent comparison of the book scenes and movie sequences - it is helpful to have that discussion occurring simultaneously, rather than having to find a separate podcast that discusses the movies. The women are very good at much of their analysis, although some of it does get a bit “weird” and somewhat of a stretch. The negatives for me start with the constant giggling and what comes across as inside sister jokes that the rest of us aren’t privy to. It is like being an adult in the front seat of a car listening to two 12-year old girls having a discussion between themselves up in the backseat. Some of the show elements just don’t really work out, and I hope eventually get dropped - the chapter rankings, and the “weird” character for each chapter might have started out as good ideas, but they weren’t really thought through in advance, and by midway through the first book it got really tedious listening to the Sisters trying to decide on the rules on the fly. Finally, I have had to skip the sorting hat episodes of other shows because they are just too far out there. Finally, some of the criticisms are off-putting for listeners who may disagree with the characterization - we get that you like Richard Harris over Michael Gambon, but not all of us agree with that and it gets old hearing about it in every episode, especially when it is merely an opinion without much in the way of empirical observation. The same goes for Flitwick. I am going to keep listening for a while, and hopefully the show will improve as it, and the hosts, mature. If it does, I will offer a more positive review. P.S. Offering to read 5 star reviews on air is akin to those Amazon sellers who offer a gift card for positive reviews. rankings,

Found the sister just in time
I love these sisters! They really helped me through a hard time in my life recently. I started looking for a Harry Potter podcast cause I was bored of the true crime podcasts I had been listening to and wanted something more light hearted. So since my husband and I love the Harry Potter books I thought why not. I tried a few others first but didn’t much care for them. Then I found the sisters and started listening. Before the first week of listening to them was over tragedy struck and we lost our beloved fur baby to heart failure. I couldn’t sleep at night it was too quiet and lonely and even during the day when the tv wasn’t on I had to have some kind of sound. I pretty much started listening to them 24/7. Their voices and the stories they told were so comforting and light hearted. I love the dynamic of their relationship and their love of the story. In one month I had went through all their book club stories twice and their sorting hats of the shows that I knew. I’m still listening all night and during times that I am by myself. You can listen to them over and over and not get tired of them. My husband has started to listen to them with me when we are in the car. I am now also a patron and loving it. Thanks sisters for being there for me!

Love a good sibling podcast!
My Harry Potter loving older sister introduced me to this podcast when it first started but I wasn’t really listening to any podcasts then so I listened for a bit and stopped. I started again when you guys were in the middle of book 5 I think of the book club and was listening to the new episodes and started over to listen to all of the old ones at the same time (I was nannying a baby so I caught up quickly). This podcast is so fun and I love listening to sisters talk about all of their inside jokes, as HP and all things nerdy is one of my favorite things my sister and I have bonded over. I love that I get more Harry Potter content just about the canon books and that you address the authors hate and shortcomings so clearly. Trans rights are human rights. Thank you for all the laughs and for making my Monday morning routine a little more fun! Patty

Absolutely incredible and bingeworthy
I can’t say how long ago I started listening to this podcast, maybe around 2019 or so. However, with the many joys and challenges of life, I’m still not caught up. I just started listening to the character studies, and am determined to keep listening until I’m caught up. This podcast is a fantastic listen for every Harry Potter enthusiast. Alice and Martha will keep your interest with their humor, banter, and in-depth analysis of what is undoubtedly my favorite book series of all time. Whether you need a break from all that this world has to offer or a companion for a long flight, give these ladies a listen. You can’t go wrong.

Fantastic podcast!
I have been listening to the real weird sisters for years and have loved every episode! The sisters are very funny and the giggles always make my day. I love to hear the stories about the sisters as kids. I love going back and re-listening to the book club episodes! Every time I listen to a new episode I learn more about the books. Shut up Tim is occasionally funny but he is NOT a sister. Also, the microwave talk is truly fascinating, and the inclusion of the LGBTQ community means a lot! Once again great podcast!

A Long, Comprehensive, and Subjective Review
I began listening to the Real Weird Sisters when I was 17, and now at 20, it feels as though Martha and Alice have helped usher me into adulthood. Through 2 universities, 4 jobs, and living in 4 states, my favorite Harry Potter podcast has been there to make me laugh, disagree with, bring me comfort, and clarify the confusing points of HP. I considered myself a Harry Potter expert... until I understood just how much these sisters KNOW about my favorite fantasy world. My older sister and I are huge fans of Harry Potter as well, so it’s nice to see a sister duo like us (on steroids tho, she’s more casual unfortunately). From the Book Club episodes, to Sorting Hats and Movie Casts, I learned so much while listening to them and it was a blast! They just completed their walkthrough of all of the chapters and books, and now I feel like I’m in a good place to give a comprehensive review. These women not only have families of their own, full time jobs, and pets to take care of, but they also live STATES away from each other! My own sister and I have a podcast and live states away... lemme tell you it is not easy! But these sisters never missed a week and even recorded ahead when they knew one would be abroad or just simply not able to record. What dedication! Who knew a fun hobby between sisters would blossom into a worldwide outlet for fans to come and feel accepted, loved, and welcome into a world they know and love, while still learning all the more? Another great aspect of this podcast is the community. While I can’t afford to be a patron, I follow them on twitter and back in 2018 Martha claimed me her favorite listener on the podcast. I guess you could say we have a special bond as younger sisters haha. Anyways, if you’re looking for an extensive, nerdy, fun, and engaging Harry Potter podcast, congrats you made it! I’m excited for the future of the podcast and the plans both Alice and Martha have. 2022 update: I just moved from Nepal to Turkey, and have caught up on the past few months of episodes! I had to edit my review, because I’ve just had a sudden realization that ShutUpTim’s laugh sounds like the Joker from the Batman animated series, and my 7-year-old self is a wee bit scared. He’s a great foil for the sisters and appreciate his commentary…but not the laugh sorry bud

Ooooooooh Sisters…
Dear Sisters, I have been a listener since 2019 and have loved listening to the sisters (plus Shut Up Tim) through ever step of the journey. The humor and just general Harry Potterness of this podcast helped me through a really dark time in my life and I’m grateful to the sisters for all the hard work that they have put into it. Unfortunately, I’m only 14, so I won’t be able to pledge on patreon anytime soon, but I will continue to show my support by listening. The Moviecasts and the Take Fives have been my favorite episodes so far and I love hearing the sisters arguing with Tim. Now for the part of the review that the sisters might cut out of the episode if this review ever gets on: Tim gets way too much hate and is hilarious! I love it when he appears on the podcast and the conversations that y’all have are really fun and interesting. I would not say that he is an official third sister as he is not on nearly as many episodes as required to be a third sister but he is an integral part of this podcast and it wouldn’t be the same without him. (And yes the third movie is one of the best movies in the series by far) Martha and Alice: the energy that you bring to every podcast is awesome. I love hearing you discuss the books and characters of the series and you always crack funny jokes that make me laugh. I love the detailed knowledge that you bring to the table and it makes me so happy every time you release a new podcast! I wrote a review way back when I finished the second book discussion but it was kind of lame so I wrote a new fresh one. I hope you read this on the podcast! If not, just know that I appreciate your work and everything that you do to make this the best podcast ever! Also Martha: I love your impressions and they make me crack up!

I just want to say thank you. Harry Potter is like a steaming cup of hot chocolate on a cold day, and only a few friends of mine can share that same feeling. I listen to a few Pottercasts (bad pun sorry) but The Real Weird Sisters is by far the best, funniest, and really breaks down the books like no one else. Shut Up Tim just adds to the whole atmosphere, and Alice and Martha balance each other so well. Thank you for this podcast. Love, Lucille (huge fan)

Imperio, listen to this podcast
I first started listening to the Real Weird Sisters after I moved to a new city where I didn’t know anyone in the middle of the pandemic. Having Alice and Martha’s voices accompany me on my walks and cooking endeavors made my 2020 and 2021 a whole lot brighter! I find myself laughing out loud at their takes and impressions and really appreciate their eye towards social justice. I love the weekly character studies, and I especially love the special episodes- the sorting hat episodes are my favorite! I love thinking about Hogwarts house sorting so much that I actually spent the first year of the pandemic working on an improved version of the sorting quiz (you should try it at Veritasortem.com), so I can’t wait for future sorting episodes to come (Survivor 42’s not that far away??) Anyway, listen to this podcast if you like Harry Potter and fun :)

I appreciate how y’all handle the author’s wrongdoings and separate that from their art. Great job ladies. Ps. I love the sorting hat episodes

Distracting
There is a lot of good discussion here and enthusiasm for the material, but also some bizarre things to get past. There is a 2-episode Character Study where they mispronounce the character name every time. It is Professor “Truh-law-nee” not “Tree-law-nee”. If this was a casual mistake, it’s no big deal but this seems to happen a lot with mispronunciations (names that are pronounced the same in both the movies and audiobooks, but the hosts are saying it differently). There is also information the hosts don’t know, which could be easily searched but instead, they spend a ton of recording time speculating on wrong answers. Such as the fact that “Messrs” is an abbreviation for Misters (not that they ‘mess around a lot’), or that the testing of Fleur’s wand to produce a flower is ‘an example of sexism because she is a woman’ (rather than the fact that in French, Fleur means ‘flower’). A little research, googling or even editing could easily fix this. Overall, Alice seems to often think she has a point right and stubbornly sticks to that, arguing without any evidence, just that it ‘feels right to her’ and then just saying “anyway…” and quickly moving on. It becomes a dynamic that seems very dismissive of Martha’s contributions or anything other than her opinions.

Your podcast is amazing! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Your podcast is one of the most amazing podcasts I’ve ever listened to! It has so much humor and it also gets straight to the point when necessary. I do have two requests though... I would love another Real Weird ‘Annual’ Hunger Games and I believe that Tim is another official sister. You have supporters Tim! But overall, thanks for an amazing podcast that always makes my day. 😊 Edit note: when I heard you read this review on the show (btw thanks for that it made my day) I realized I should say that this is Molly and I don’t legit think that Tim is the third sister. He is the funniest, but not a sister. The cat is way closer that him. Please make a hunger games Tim! I realize it’s a lot of work but you’ve had like, 2 years. What happened to annual?!? But in all sincerity, your podcast is the best and you guys are amazing. Thanks!
