Keep up the great work!
This is a fantastic podcast that I have been listening to for well over ten years. Dazzling informative, Jeff Goldsmith does his deep dive homework with each interview and asks them challenging questions he knows the audience wants to hear. His magazine is great and his podcast is a writer’s dream. In my opinion better than any commentary track. Keep up the great work!

Outstanding
Calling this podcast & its host outstanding would be an understatement. Keep up the good work.

Shut up, Jeff!
Jesus, Jeff talks a lot. Let the guest get a word in! Jeff is the one host who actually talks more than Quentin Tarantino.

Stop the political crap.
We come here to learn about screenwriting not your irrelevant political views. Who are you?

Please stop interrupting your guests!
Great guests but PLEASE let them actually speak! Whenever a guest starts to answer a question, Jeff immediately interrupts them with another question or comment. This happens several times throughout each of their answers and they never get to actually finish the thought they started with. It’s really frustrating to listen to - not least because we come here to hear the guests, not the host - and I feel frustrated on behalf of the guests, too. I had to unsubscribe when I listened to the Bo Burnham episode because I actually couldn’t make it more than a few minutes in before the interruptions became unbearably annoying.

Was a huge fan. Now turned off
In the past Jeff has done a great job speak to entertainers because they are entertainers (which is what writers are). The most recent episode really turned me off unfortunately. While the episode was about happenings in the 1960’s and I did enjoy hearing Sorkin yak about his process, I prefer politics kept out of all this. We don’t need to hear about their political standings. We don’t need to hear about their views with BLM. Just interview the entertainer and inspire.

A Simple Question is Enough
Every single question Jeff asks is followed by “Because…” where he further explains the question and gives possible answers. Almost always unnecessary. Please consider leaving out!

Superb
Jeff does his homework and then some, his guests are often shocked at just how prepared he is. The writer is often a second class citizen in hollywood but here the screenplay is king.

Best Moderator in L.A.
I’ve been going to Jeff Goldsmith’s Q&A’s in Hollywood since I moved here in 2006. I can’t count how many I’ve attended. And when I can’t attend, I listen to the podcast. He’s the best moderator in L.A. His Q&A’s are in depth, his questions are well researched and the conversations are fun and insightful. If you love film, subscribe to his podcast, sign up for his screening series and check out his digital magazine, Backstory.

Live!
This podcast is AWESOME, but if you get a chance to attend one of the live screening/Q&A events, it’s even better! Thanks for the great work, Jeff and team!

Great format, great guests
The interviews always cover interesting content on the creative process and a BTS glimpse into a range of films, from indies to blockbusters. I always come away with a greater appreciation for their final product after getting to hear the writer/director talk about it.

Jeff loves what he does and it shows
I've been listening this podcast for yeeeeeaaars. If you are a writer of any kind, of just enjoy hearing about the creative process from people who are actually out there writing movies today, then I highly recommend you check out this podcast.

Fun and informative
I enjoy hearing about the creative process when it comes to filmmaking. This is exactly the podcast you’re looking for if you feel the same way. The host Jeff knows how to engage his guests and keep the conversation informative as well as fun.

Love this podcast!
Wow! Just by listening in on these amazing conversations you can learn so much. It has helped me greatly understand the distant world of films more intimately. Thank you for your hard work in making each episode valuable.

Great Podcast
Jeff Goldsmith’s podcast is excellent. He asks good questions, keeps up a whip-smart dialogue, and never bores or patronizes the audience. Intelligent, insightful programming.

Terrible commercials
I/we get it. You’ve got a magazine you’re promoting and yes, you want to promote it. But, when you’re cutting in the middle of a conversation with a terrible 3 minute sales pitch, you’re taking us out of it. Aside from that, solid interviews with great questions. Would give it 5 stars but, you know, the commercials.

Two Thumbs Up
My favorite podcast on screenwriting and filmmaking in general. Always something new and interesting to glean from each episode. Couldn't recommend it more to anyone interested in the craft of making movies.

Great stuff
I have learned so much from the interviews Jeff coducts. He is very natural and gets good answers out of people. I kind of wish he would interview some of these people in a more intimate setting rather than on stage, but this is still great.

Simple, perfect for budding writers and veterans
Jeff Goldsmith has a straightforward presentation that is perfect for writers just starting out or industry veterans. Interviews are accessible, insightful and interesting regardless of your experience with the craft.

Too much of a fanboy
While I enjoy most of the interviews with screenwriters, Jeff Smith veers into fanboy territory too much. It diminishes the quality of the show. In the interview with “Logan” writer he repeatedly asked questions trying to connect continuity when the writer clearly was not interested. In the interview with Matt Reeve on “War of the Planet of the Apes” he tried to “connect” it to the 1968 movie even after Reeve told him that they were different. If he want to be a fanboy rename the podcast “virtual comic con” so listens know what they are getting into.

Whenever I love a movie, I hope Jeff has an episode
Been a fan for years; these podcasts enrich the films I love, and help me understand more about what went wrong in movies I don't love. I learn a ton-- thanks for all you do Jeff! Also, just gotta say it, what a radio voice!

The best podcast for filmmakers
As an indie filmmaker, this is my absolute favorite podcast! So insightful and inspiring—I love putting it on in the car for my commute to work. Keep up the awesome work Jeff!

VERY well done
As a journalist and filmmaker, this is one of the most comprehensive, thorough Podcasts in the film business. Especially if you're interested in Screenwriting. I just wanted to take a minute and let you know you're doing a fantastic job. My favorite part is that even though you come in with a list of questions, you listen to their answers and veer and ask follow ups with more clarity when it's needed. Also you come in very well versed on not just their films, but their backgrounds. You do a really great job and please keep up the awesome work!

Must Listen for Screenwriters
I have been listening to this podcast for over five years. It is one of the only places you can get this kind of in depth discussion about the actual writing of a script. It is so informatie and inspiring. Jeff is a great host who asks good stock questions and insightful questions specifc to the script/movie every time. The fact that he gets Oscar nominees together for an annual episode is awesome. And if you get a chance to go to one of the live shows, definitely do!

The Best Resource for Filmmaker interviews!
I've been listening to The Q&A before it was even called that, and I've been fortunate enough to be in the audience at the live screenings (The Other Guys will always be my favorite.) and I have learned so much from this series! There's numerous episodes I've gone back to listen to numerous times, and it's really saying something when some of the best questions come from the young kids at the beginning of interviews with animated film's filmmakers. (See the Big Hero 6 episode for an example.) Jeff Goldsmith is always funny, and fully engaged. Even asking some of the nerdier questions that I'm sure make the guests cringe. But it's a great show and I always take something away from every interview - whether it's for a film I liked or not.

Consistently High Quality Interviews with Screenwriters
I’m constantly impressed by the quality of interviews that Jeff puts together. Not only does he talk to some of the most in-demand screenwriters in the business, but he provides a thoughtful discussion about how the scripts work in specific ways. This is my go-to podcast for when I want to learn more about the story craft of a film that’s resonated with me in the theater. Thanks Jeff.

Love his interjections~
Think Jeff is the best interviewer I’ve ever heard. I go to a lot of Q and A’s and usually the interviewers are slow, boring, and always ask the same questions. Jeff digs in, keeps the interviews moving and these interviews are SO educational. I listen all the time, and learn so much. Great work Jeff!

Could be great...
This podcast would be great, if the host would stop interrupting his guests, bumbling on his attempts to be profound. Stop talking, and let your guests speak. His "yo, dude" delivery is so obnoxious and cringe-inducing, that I feel for the guests. And audience members.

Best Q &A about Film Anywhere!
If you haven’t listened to Jeff Goldsmith’s Q & A, you are missing one of the most talented interviewers around. Palpable in each of his podcasts is Jeff’s love for the craft of film making and his deep understanding of the films and authors he’s discussing. Great teaching tool for film classes. Great entertainment for the rest of us!

Best podcast on screenwriting. Period. Keep up the fantastic work, Jeff.

Better if you've seen the movie
Though, I love spoilers, so I listen to everything anyway. Sometimes the questions get repetitive, so I wouldn't recommend bingeing.

Entirely Engaging Interviews
The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith is one of the most interesting podcast about people making films. Jeff has a very strong sense of crafting a thorough list of questions. He really digs deep into the story creation process. Jason Williams Haptic Vision

Amazing Interviews!
Jeff Goldsmith podcasts long-form interviews with screenwriters that are always fun and interesting. I’ve been listening to him since he was at Creative Screenwriting Magazine, and I’ve never been disappointed. He always begins with the “breaking-in story” of the interviewee, which is a great element. He’s also not afraid to ask tough questions, but he always remains respectful. Any aspiring screenwriter will benefit from listening to these stories.

One of the best
I only wish he did shows more often. Great knowledge about screenwriting. It would be awesome if they put the old Creative Screenwriting episodes up.

Love This Show
My favorite film-related podcast. Subscribed to Backstory and love it as well. Keep up the good work!

Not for me
I can see why some people might enjoy this podcast, but it really isn't for me. I listened to about 10 random episodes befor I decided to unsibscribe. I tend to find that writers of movies are the least interesting people involved in movie making, and this podcasts focuses heavily on the writing aspect. I'm also not a big fan of interviews taking place in front of a screaming audience. That being said, the interviews are very indepth (slighly verbose, even), so if you are into this nitch topic, you might like this podcast.

jeff
love the podcast, such a great interviewer - HATE THE VOICE JEFF GOLDSMITH PUTS ON WHEN HE IS INTRODUCING THE PODCAST AT THE BEGINNING. JUST TALK LIKE YOURSELF STOP TRYING TO SOUND LIKE A VOICE OVER ARTIST. AND THE INTROS ARE WAY TOO LONG JUST GET TO THE INTERVIEW. I do love this podcast, though.

So Happy Jeff is Back
Honestly I used to be annoyed by the self-promotion that filled the first few minutes of Creative Screenwriting's Podcast-which has continued with The Q and A-and while there are times that I find myself skipping over this, Jeff has really won me over with his savvy interview style and his dogged determination to get quality content out there on the cheap (which for most of us has meant "Free"). I've learned more about screenwriting and the way the ACTUAL industry works from the Q and A's Jeff's been doing than from any other single source, so to listeners I say, "If you don't like Jeff's idyosynchrasies, bear with him because ther IS a method to his madness." And if it weren't for his little blurbs at the beginning I wouldn't have found out about Backstory, which is absolutely phenomenal. It's a collage of new media art that's not only beautiful looking, but jam-packed with more RELEVANT content than I have ever seen in a magazine-filled with links and in-app ability to watch films that you can watch in the middle of reading the article in question. Phenomenal content. Jeff, thank you for your commitment to the medium, for the awesome podcast and for Backstory, which is the most stunning digital magazine I've come across.
