I’ve listened to almost all of the episodes (laughed out loud walking on the streets of LA which, of course, garners no looks) and am feeling sad that I’m coming to the end of them. . . . Just finished the episode with Hasan Minhaj and loved it. Really hoping Mike continues to record more of these with other comics/writers/poets—anyone! Oh! And if you’re looking for a nutshell: this podcast is funny, insightful and just a really nice listen 👍🏼

Was happy to listen when the show started as Promo, but now I just want to hear Mike interview all the people he works with on Broadway! He’s a great interviewer/conversationalist and has had great guests. Wouldn’t have listened to Waitress without his interview with Sara Bareilles!

I LOVE Mike. He got me through high school. His jokes on spotify got me through math homework, failing grades, and rejection from crushes. My brothers constantly quote "joe bags" and "guy at a party playing guitar" and "bad jazz". I absolutely love him. This podcast changed my whole idea of who he is. It RUINED him for me. If you enjoy Birbiglia's early work, DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS.

I was excited to see a new episode of The Old Ones in my podcast queue. I enjoyed the first round, but didn’t think there would be any more episodes released. I’m super psyched it will continue and we’ll get some more awesome comedy special back stories. Birbigs is a stellar host. Thanks Mike!

I first watched one of Mike Birbiglia’s comedy specials 3 years ago, My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend with my (at the time) boyfriend. We both laughed and cried and quickly adapted saying his one liners as inside jokes. I appreciated his honesty and humor with story telling. No other comedian is like this. Absolutely love Mike Birbiglia and this podcast lives up to his comedy specials, you need to listen to it and watch his specials on Netflix.

Holy wow, I enjoy Mike Birbiglia's work. The atmosphere and tone of his performances remind me of spending time with a long-time friend, and this podcast is that dynamic realized. I am thrilled to recommend this podcast wholeheartedly.

Birbigs is my favorite comedian. I’ve listened to his old albums many times through, so it’s great hearing the insight behind them. Perfect way to get excited for the new one. The guests are all fantastic also.

I’ve been a fan of Mike’s for over a decade. I just saw Mulaney’s “Kid Gorgeous” performance last Saturday and Birbiglia’s “The New One” two weeks prior. I decided to listen to episode 1 on a drive out for a client visit. As an attorney—who went to the same college after both John and Mike and saw their early material—I found myself simultaneously incredibly proud of each of their growth as comedians and insanely jealous of their careers and success in comedy. I was 15 minutes late for my client visit as I sat in the car finishing the podcast episode to the last bit of music played—even after listening to the pod at 1.5x speed, which made them sound a bit manic. It’s a 58-minute pep talk for the pleasures of writing jokes and/or stories. More importantly, episode 1 was voyeuristic look inside an incredible discussion between close friends talking about their journey while peeking from behind the curtain and handing out performance tips they’ve picked up. From hearing their unexpectedly complex understanding of the “drunk laundromat” joke to an explanation of the full “ecstasy girl” story to Mulaney’s footnotes on his Mick Jagger joke that I heard him just perform, this podcast may have been my most fun (and proud) hour in a long time. Subscribe and go buy his old albums.

Once again, a superstar is born! Well...he’s NOT born-again...I’m sure he’s Catholic... ANYWAY, Mike Birbiglia is absolutely engaging! Everything he creates is pure genius. Come to Vegas on your tour, Mike!!

You got your Mulaney on my Birbiglia! You got your Birbiglia on my Mulaney! ...Delicious! It was great to listen to some of the classic Birbigs tracks and hear their insights and also discover how far back their friendship goes. My birthday present to myself this past spring was traveling to hear both of their shows live, so that made it even more special to hear them together. It's a great idea for a podcast--can't wait for the other episodes!

Mike Birbiglia is the best podcast guest. I have waited so long for him to start his own. Loved the first episode, excited for the rest.

I was lucky enough to see Mike Birbiglia’s new show “The New One” in Berkeley in the fall of 2017 and I am excited to hear him on his own podcast!

I've never rated anything before listening to it before. Wait, that's a lie; I've rated people before hearing them speak. (I was always right.) And I guarantee that this will be my rating after I listen to The Old Ones, unless they add a star in the interim. Mike is an innate storyteller who combines comedy that makes you pee your pants and emotion that makes you pee your eyes. He is at the same time hilarious and thought-provoking, and the thought of a podcast discussing his humor with friends makes me giddy.

Great storyteller! I watch/listen to everything he performs. So real, so funny, and so emotional.

Mike Birbiglia is the absolute best. We make it a point to get to every one of his live shows that comes our way and listen to everythign he does. One of the funniest and most touching comedians/story tellers working today.

Full disclosure: this 5 star rating is based purely on the premise of a Birbiglia-based podcast. I haven’t listened to any episodes yet because they don’t exist...well they probably do, but I’m not a hacker. I’m going to listen to all of these with my girlfriend’s boyfriend (see what I did there?).
