Simple and practical podcast to improve your poker game
I love the drastic improvements for season 4 focusing on simplifying your overall poker strategy from preflop to postflop. I realize it is not about impressing other people by trying to run people over with K2 suited. It’s about playing a sound fundamental strategy. The free GTO ranges I downloaded felt very tight and boring at first. But after doing my own study, I realize tight is right, especially in a high rake environment from the live games! Highly recommend this podcast for all poker players who want to improve their game quickly.

Best poker podcast out there
I have thoroughly enjoyed James and Zac on the podcast. There is lots of tips and information given that relate with today’s game. My win rate has certainly gone up thanks to the podcast, YouTube channel and ebooks.

Good stuff
Very enjoyable, even if some episodes don’t focus specifically on poker strategy. Sweeney is a really smart dude and very well-spoken.

Used to be good. Now advertising only
Early episodes are good. Now it’s advertising only.

Just an ad
Podcast used to be good. Now it is just an ad for Red Chip Poker products

Like... I’d like it, like, but like, it’s hard to like... like.
I wish there was a way to coach your guests in advance to stop saying the word “like“ so much. It makes them sound like morons, and it is very hard to stay interested in the podcast.

Last episode was a huge improvement
The most recent episode with Alex was a nice return to the strategy focused content, with some good tactical advice to exploit weak opposition. Hopefully this is a harbinger of the return of quality content.

What he said
To echo a previous review, a perfect example of the decline of this podcast is to title a 30 minute show “C-betting Out of Position” and then to have less than three sentences total on the topic.

No content
There used to be some very informative episodes of this podcast, but the recent ones have been all fluff and/or just long commercials for Red Chip products. Making a podcast called "C-betting out of position" and having literally no information about c-betting out of position and instead making it a 30 minute advertisement is just so stupid and short sighted. If they keep that up, they'll be advertising to no one because they'll have no subscribers.

Meh
After 4-5 episodes of thinking “why am I listening to this garbage?” I finally unsubscribed. He basically just kisses his no name guests’ butts for 30-45 min. Even though he’ll say 95% of his audience is American, he only interviews mediocre (if that) poker “pros” from Europe about their HUD stats and databases. He often titles his episodes with strategy concepts that he never seems to work into the conversation itself. I wouldn’t be shocked if he just had fun at his home game, learned a little lingo, and decided to start a podcast.

Poker Infomercials
Half talkshow, half commercial, often centered around recent or upcoming Red Chip collaborations.

Please bring back the poker strategy.
I’ve never written a podcast review before, but felt I had to raise my voice for this one. The content used to be so helpful and actionable. Now it’s just the stories of random well-known players. Don’t get me wrong, the interviews can be interesting but there’s nothing better than 30 min of straight poker strategy discussion. Maybe you guys could dedicate and episode or two per month to strategy?

It’s a shame....
I’d like to start off by saying that I love all of red chips products....except this one. When it was primarily strategy driven it was one of my favorites. Now, if I have to hear Robbie Strazynski say “brilliant” one more time I’m going to lose my mind. The guests are great but the interview itself leaves a lot to be desired. The questions are all softballs that seem to be scripted. Not to mention there is all this poker knowledge and little to no strategy content whatsoever. Seems like they know this and try to throw in this strategy corner that lasts a whole 3-4 min that was directly taken from the core course. It’s a shame. You guys have friggin James Sweeney! I could listen to him fart into the microphone for an hour rather than what is being put out recently. I hope it gets figured out b/c when it’s good it’s great.

What happened?
Show should have stuck to strategy content. New host seems nice enough but interview format is done much better by others on different podcasts. Also don’t like the blatant promotion and direction of the brand.

Disappointing change
I used to be a big fan of the podcast until Zac Shaw was replaced. Robbie comes off as an unresearched fanboy and infomercial. It’s getting hard for me to continue listening. Bring Zac back as the voice of Red Chip!

3 Minutes out of 40 are content
Literally 90% of the podcasts are mindless blather about the interviewee and their various book/products. Is there useful info? Sure: just be prepared to spend 10 minutes skipping around to find it. Every other hobby has quality podcasts made by enthusiasts and other professionals. They’ve found a way to monetize that doesn’t require informercials. There are 600,000 podcasts out there: find another one and save your time.

Changed for the worse
The podcast used to be quite relevant and useful for beginners and low stakes players, which has always been the focus of the Red Chip brand. However since removing Zack Shaw as the host and changing the format away from a strategy discussion to a promotional interview format, I haven’t been able to stomach a single episode in its entirety. It’s just not worth my time anymore. There’s nothing of value in the podcast anymore. It’s been a disappointing shift for sure. This used to be a 4.5 for me and now it’s a 1.

Every episode is an infomercial
Every episode is an infomercial for their products and services. Little to no specific advice that is useful. Doug Hall is arrogant and insulting and the sound of his voice is like nails on a chalk board.

Love that Core is systematic!
I was one of those that Weasel talked about that jumped from one area to the next before really understanding and applying what I had learned when studying off table. I have started from the beginning of Core systematically. I, for the first time went deep in a $10,000 Guarantee and placed 5th! I highly recommend it to help one build a solid foundation! Thanks Splitsuit, Weasel and team Red Chip!

Great Poker Podcast for Actual Players
I’ve probably listened to over half of the available podcasts because the game and the strategy along with the psychology of poker excites me. Everyone seems to be very knowledgeable about the specific topics they speak on and the episodes are concise at around 30 min. My only complaint would be that they state this is for beginners, but don’t actually tell you how to BEGIN. Maybe that is in their paid membership on their website, but that’s my only complaint really. I feel real familiarized with a lot of useful concepts, but have absolutely no tangible way to apply/study them really.

Best poker podcast I've found!
The Red Chip team explains the game & strategies in a way that's easy to understand. Also has compelling interviews with folks in the industry who aren't the same typical faces we normally see. Just bought one of Doug's books. Should arrive today & I look forward to reading. Great job, guys!

I have listened to every episode multiple times. I love all of the content, free by the way! I love the insight from all the poker pros and am trying to force myself to be more active on the forums. This is a great podcast! Thanks!

Great show
I recently started seriously studying poker and this podcast has been a great resource. It took me a few weeks, but I just finished every episode and I'm looking forward to more. I'd also like to ask you guys about my current situation: I'm a recent college grad so I don't have much money and can't afford to bankroll myself for 1/2, so I'm trying to organically grow it from my microstakes winnings. The problem is the only game I have access to right now is a .05/.10 home game, and despite consistently winning my progress is pretty slow. I'm really looking for a .25/.50 game but I'm having a hard time finding one-- do you guys have any recommendations? Thanks!

You can tell these guys genuinely want to help us become better poker players. I just recently bought a couple books they recommended and joined the redchippoker website to utilize the forums! Thanks for putting this on each week guys, really appreciate it!

Practical, smart, and entertaining
This has become my go-to poker podcast these days. Almost every episode is short enough to listen to in one walk or drive, but filled with practical, thoughtful insights on getting better at poker.

Content that Matters
I have been playing poker for 8 years, studying it seriously for 5. I have been a Red Chipper since the beginning of their site and this podcast is exactly what I come to expect from RCP... Awesome content from pros, players and coaches that have the answers or at least advice towards all of the thinking poker questions that need to be answered to make more $$$ at the tables. I like this podcast because it is relevant to my games and every nugget can be applied directly to your game. So Doug, Christian, James, Ed, Trisha and all the new coaches, great job.

Great, consistent tips on a wide range of topics
The podcast is full of great poker coaches who never condescend to the listeners. I do have one critique, I know the hosts read the reviews so I'm hoping they read this: The intro of the show says it's for newbies or veteran grinders, but you guys use a lot of terminology that may be alien to the newbie. It would be helpful to occasionally pepper in the definition of the term you just used. Use the term "donk bet" and once every three episodes or so just quickly define that what that means.

Attacking Limpers
Great job done here by James and Doug breaking this down and really explaining in great detail how there are more options than just limping or raising some default size based on the number of limpers. The explanation of how there are so many other factors and variables that go into our thought process when deciding on a raise size and often times "go bigger" to maximize our strength by getting things heads up or three ways rather than just either making a default size and going 5 or 6 ways or limping behind. I happened to find this when searching online for how to deal with limpers in live cash games and now I'm looking forward to listening to the other podcasts on here! Keep up the great work guys, much appreciated!

Learn Something Every Time
I have been playing what I thought was a game called "Poker" for many years. Wow was I wrong! At the beginning of last year I started playing MTT's exclusivly at mt local casino here in south Florida. At the same time I discovered and started listening to Red Chip Poker. At the begining of this year I decided to binge all 66 episodes while driving back and forth to work. Just Finished and am downloading the next three. I cannot believe how much you can learn even after the second time. There is at least one or two things to take away from every episode no matter what your game, style or skill level. Sorry this is so long winded but this podcast is that great. Keep up the great work add more MTT stuff when you can. I would love to hear something from Dr. Cardner. I will also be signing up for the MTT Crash Course in the next week or so. Thanks Again

Awesome strategy content
I have been looking for a way to get better at poker by supplementing my playing and reading without having to pay for coaching. These guys aren't the typical hacks you might run across in the poker world. Their content is well thought out and grounded in sound reasoning. This podcast is the perfect source for free bite-sized strategy lessons.

Thoughtful, wide-ranging poker talk for students of the game
I listen to a lot of poker podcasts, and have read repeatedly all of Ed Miller and Doug Hull's books. This podcast is a serial version of that school of poker- so if you like Ed's style, this is for you. Lots of different topics from pre-flop to "sixth street" to ethics to logistics of Vegas are covered. I'd say it's "beginner+" level- not super advanced but valuable up through 5-10 cash level- e.g. I see most players at my local 2-5 make the errors described in these episodes and who I NEVER want to listen to this show... shhhhhh. Thanks Red Chip team.

Tuesday mornings just got better
I Discovered this podcast about a week ago and binged through the episodes. As a current online micro stakes player building a bankroll for live, this podcast gave me some insightful information to better construct some ideas of where my poker journey may take me, especially the places that I should target in my studies. It's really helping me understand how important off table analysis is, and how vast the sea of Information about poker theory and gameplay is. I'm sure I'll end end up listening through these episodes again as I move up the stakes and can understand the techniques more fully and apply them more often. I love the interview style podcasts and how there's always new voices and perspectives to hear from. I really enjoyed the episode with Fausto, and think it would be cool to hear from him again about mastering a very aggressive play style. I'll definitely be looking forward to Tuesdays from now on!

Awesome Poker Podcast !!
I was really reluctant to even write this review....only because the podcast is so good, that I really don't want anyone else to know about it. I've listened to many other poker podcasts and while there are good and bad ones out there, nothing is like this podcast if you want to improve your game. Each episode is short and to the point covering the subject matter quickly and efficiently. Power packed with information. If I need to brush up on a topic, I find that particular show and listen to it again. Thank you Red Chip Poker!

My game has grown
I am updating my review: This podcast has opened up my game and my mind to an improved studying routine. I have been playing a long time but I felt like my skills have stagnated and my results were varied. This podcast takes a sharp focus and explains it in simple terms. I feel like my mind has opened up and I am gorging poker content and it is manageable because of the foundation set by this podcast. Thank you for helping pad my bankroll. I had my most consistent summer ever.

touches on underlooked aspects of poker
I am a recreational poker player that mostly plays live 1/2 NL. I listen to many poker podcasts, but this is hands down my favorite one. It is informative, down-to-earth, and just a joy to listen to. James understands that there is a difference between knowing things in theory and actually implementing this knowledge into your game. He often talks about concrete steps to implement these changes into your game, and this has been extremely helpful to me. Here is a small suggestion, James. If you can have a separate podcast about good/bad poker habits, I think that will greatly benefit the listeners. Keep up the good work!

Just plain awesome!
Was so happy to stumble upon this podcast as I have watched quite a few videos on YouTube by the host. This podcast has wonderful content with actionable advice and I find the hosts' voice quite relaxing, not at all harsh or annoying like some podcasts!

It's not about playing good cards but playing good bets
After thousands of hours of poker, Red Chip is finally helping me conceptualize that good poker isn't about playing the best cards or hands, it's about playing the best bets. The whole idea is to maximize your return without knowing all the facts about the scenario you are betting into. Complex but a game-changer for sure

Most relevant of all
Addresses how to navigate the minefield of low stakes better than the rest. Very generous. Most practical and applicable. I'd like a series on flop textures including an episode on low and medium paired boards, splitsuit flops.... Each analyzed with 3-4 player types in mind. Thanks again.
