Discovered Ben Vaughn this morning while exploring my new public radio station. I listened with delight to the wonderful combination of multiple genres woven beautifully into a stream of soulful tunes. I will be binge streaming this podcast for a long time. This guy knows his quality music, regardless of genre. Each show is an invitation to hang out. I can’t say why this hits me in the feels each time, but next time I’m in Joshua Tree, I’m buying Ben lunch.

I found this show by listening to XPN, which broadcasts out of Philadelphia. I love the eclectic nature of the music, of never knowing what I’m going to hear next— it’s thrilling, haha! This show has introduced me to so many wonderful, “lost” songs — and I can’t help but think what a shame that so much beautiful music isn’t playing on mainstream stations. But… thanks to this podcast, more people do have the opportunity to enjoy— so thank you!

Soulful, swinging, smart & weird. Grooving to stuff I’ve deeply loved and almost forgotten & other treasures I didn’t know existed but can’t believe I’ve lived without. It’s like going to a magical garage sale of music. Much thanks for a great show.

The best music podcast I have listen to since podcasts have entered the scene.

Over the last many years, I have rarely failed to tune in to the WXPN broadcast 88.5 FM on Saturday nights. There is a library of his shows as Podcasts. So I can make any day feel like a Saturday by listening. All shows are a mix of genres, and you likely won’t know some of the artists but will get hooked on some of them new to you.

I stumbled upon this program 3 weeks ago and absolutely love it. So much great music I never heard before from lots of different genres. Like the way radio used to be! Each week a new program is carefully cultivated around the theme of “feel good” music. A timely find during COVID lockdown. And that voice—just wow!

How he manages to find so much lesser known and yet wonderful music from many periods is beyond me. A fabulous listen

Ben curates such an odd and ear-wormy playlist that you can not help but love it.

The Many Moods is eclectic and fun and pretty weird. Ben curates the music superbly and presents song and band names with that rich radio announcer voice of his. Truly a gem of a show. Spread the word and share what you love.

Most music podcasts contain very little actual “music”, but instead are just people talking about music. This one is different in that it actually plays lots of great songs. It consists of a great mix of eclectic and obscure music. Almost every song is one that I’ve never heard before, but they are almost always a great listen. Ben’s commentary is also well-informed and very interesting. He gives just enough info to get you interested in the music, but not so much that the show gets bogged down. This show always makes me realize how much great music is out there that most people never get a chance to hear. Thanks, Ben and keep up the good work.

If you like truly eclectic popular music from the 50s 60s 70s and 80s, this is the show for you! This guys library is amazing, I don’t know how he has room to fit it all! Ben Vaughn is an amusing host with interesting stories about almost every song. Such an enjoyable listen. Every week I eagerly look for the next many moods podcast.

Ben Vaughn has a collection few can ever assemble. The variety never bores me and the deep origins of many songs is educational at minimum. Sooo happy I can now podcast the ‘moods’!

I have been playing the podcasts during our weekly poker game. It took a while but I think I have converted everyone. We are all in our sixties and spend time between hands guessing who the artist is. We all admit that some songs are locked in our conciousness from forty years ago and this is bringing them back. Thanks for all the work.

This podcast gets me through just about anything. Ben Vaughn is the most talented radio DJ I have ever heard and a true gift to the people of Palm Springs!

I've been listening to the show on WXPN for about a year and I love it! It's a wonderful mix of music from the collection of a fun host and cool musician. The podcast lets me take it on the road and at work - the two places I need good music the most. give this show a listen!

I've always considered my musical tastes eclectic (and eccentric) but Ben never fails to play me something I never knew before. My (older) GF has even been converted (though she's not wild about punk, I just turn it down a bit for 2 minutes). I always had great respect for Ben as a musician and songwriter but I never knew how deep and wide his passion runs. Keep it up, I love it.
