I love these podcasts, but have been looking for them ever since they wrapped up a few years ago. I was very excited when they started reposting them, but it seems like they stopped in august. Are they coming back??

The Lanky Guys do a great job of balancing a depth of biblical scholarship- without getting too deep into the weeds- while also showing a great heart for people’s conversion.

Fr. Peter and Scott do a great job of delving into the weekly readings in a way that opens the word to me and helps me to contemplate the readings with a more complete context. The background that they share about the readings is very helpful in understanding how and why the author wrote what is written. I appreciate the insights as I prepare for Mass each week.

A couple years ago I started to peruse a deeper relationship with God. I wanted to be educated about the Bible but had no idea where to even start. During the live show at SLS 20 I heard Scott talk about how much we as Catholics use the word “mystery”. Scott continued to say yes, things are a mystery, a mystery that Jesus wants to reveal to us. I tune in every week, loving all the jokes (that are actually funny). Im learning more about the Bible because this podcast is so rich in context. Really just seeing how much these two gentlemen love the Lord is beautiful. May God continue to bless the Lanky Guys!

This podcast is the only podcast I tune into regularly. Scott and Padre Pete keep it 300 and it’s pretty much stand up theology, you can tell these dudes have known other other for years and love their lives and what they do. I have been listening to this podcast for years. I’ll admit that the first time I listened, I couldn’t get through it. A friend of mine told me to give it another shot and I haven’t looked back since. I have 5 kids and focusing on all the readings in mass is nearly impossible. When I do have the ability to focus, I don’t known all the context that surrounds the readings. These two break it down for me each week, and in turn I can break it down for my family. I’m so thankful for these two and this ministry.

Years ago, these two servants of God were introduced to me by my wife. Through their weekly podcast, Dr Scott and Fr Peter unknowingly helped my wife to walk through RCIA and come to know and love the Catholic Church, and they helped me to deepen my faith and understanding in a real, permanent way. I owe them more than they will ever know for propelling me into a love for the Lord that has changed my family forever.

I started listening to The Lanky guys this past year and try not to miss any of the episodes. They have become a part of my routine and spirituality. Never did I imagine when I met Scott Powell in FOCUS 17 years ago that I’d be inviting him weekly into my home to share the Scriptures. But now I don’t want to miss-I even listen to the weeks it’s a re-run episode. Scott and Fr. Peter (who is the best!) do a great job making connections and helping me hear the Holy Spirit through the readings. And 9 times out of ten, I’m loving the goofiness as well-the pop culture references fit my Xennial sensibility perfectly.

I love the links between Sunday readings and all the insights. Can’t say how many times I’ve said, “Aha! So that’s it.”

To each his own, but I love the dynamic between these two awesome men and have no problem with Fr Peter throwing in some humor. Besides, just as often he throws in the love. His beautiful heart is much appreciated. And of course I adore Scott as well. He makes all of us enjoy the path to wisdom.

Dr. Scott Powell and Fr. Peter offer really deep insights on the readings each week and they often blow my mind and open my heart to scripture. It helps me to focus during mass and discover more from my own priest. My only gripe is that Fr. Peter can often times derail the discussion with his humor. I love his personality and his humor, but too many times things fall apart because of it. Other than that, I can’t understate the importance of these two men on my journey of faith. Thank you for your ministries!

Just discovered this podcast based on a friend’s recommendation, and I now wish I had known about it a long time ago. The guys are delightful and the connections and insights they offer on the readings are invaluable.

This podcast is one of my favorites, if not my favorite. The context and connections between the readings that Fr. Peter and Dr. Scott uncover for us are truly profound and inspired by the Holy Spirit!

Gives you a new perspective on the Liturgy of the Word and helps you to really appreciate and gracefully participate in the first part of Sunday Mass. This podcast helps so much with scripture study by explaining complex things in a simple and fun way. There are weeks I even listen to the episodes from the same cycle in previous years because of how truly valuable the teachings are and how joyfully and passionately they’re taught! Would recommend to anyone trying to dive deeper into the Liturgy or anyone looking for connection between the different parts of scripture. I understand the presence of the Christ throughout all time much more because of this podcast. Thank you, Lanky Guys!

The obvious value is understanding the connection between the Sunday readings. The value beyond is a general understanding about how all scripture is interrelated. You learn the background for individual books as well as general “tips” for looking at the structure of scripture that will help you understand when you read other scripture on your own. I offer my highest recommendation

I was in Boulder for 6 years as graduate student, and I believe I would never survive without help from father Peter Mussett and St.Thomas Aquinas community. After coming back to South Korea, I sometimes miss Boulder and the one of the greatest catholic communities on earth, and I listen to the podcast, which has humor and insight and a lot of invaluable words that help my catholic and ordinary life.
