Probably the only way to listen to a Star Trek Podcast
Some time ago I decided that I might want to give a TNG review podcast a try. I had real reservations about the prospect of taking a Star Trek podcast seriously but thought I’d look any way. Then I stumbled on the title, “The Greatest Generation”. This silly and irreverent title instantly made me laugh out loud and give it a try and the show doesn’t disappoint. If love trek but can’t take it seriously, this podcast is for you…. Unless it’s not. But it should be.

I’m here because of The Greatest Generation’s VOY S7 E15 1:13:11
I felt personally called out as I listen to AT LEAST 6 episodes a week. Hilarious guys, great commentary, very cathartic. Voyager has such a special place in my heart, it’s so nice to listen to other people love it, too (except for Tuvix. We don’t talk about Tuvix).

If you’re going to do a war movie podcast...
Do it with the guy you fired because you were too scared some internet nobodies would give you bad reviews! Losers.

Love this podcast, BUT...
This podcast is super-entertaining, and fun. I've been binge listening for a while, and e;njoying it. The guys are funny - like laugh-out-loud funny. In public. Also, as a 62 year old feminist woman, I'm overjoyed (and sometimes shamed) at their clear feminist perspective. It gives me enormous hope - they have taken on the loony misogyny of the series I love and shown me things I couldn't see. I always want more of the dismay of wives at a Star Trek podcast, hot con gossip, HILARIOUS retellings of episodes, complete with your great technical analyses.

An urgent warning about this podcast
WARNING: It is with the utmost urgency that I share this: DO NOT listen to “The Greatest Generation” episode “Up Your Worf and Around the Corner” (DS9 S5E3) while putting in your contact lenses. When you reach timecode 55:49, the sudden deployment of an expertly-edited clip of Miles O’Brien saying “This is Worfing SPECTACULAR!” will make you suddenly and violently laugh, while simultaneously jabbing yourself directly into your eyeball. You have been warned. Five stars, A podcast, would happily transition to a Geordi-style VISOR if that’s what it takes to continue being a viewer

This show is hilarious! I stumbled across it while rewatching TNG for the first time as an adult. Best decision I’ve made in a long time. Beware of listening around kids though haha their honest disclaimers should be taken seriously. Made that mistake and had a lot of explaining to do haha I am only on S1E17 and I already am hooked!

I have loved this show for years but if I never hear them describe their hole wiping methodologies again it would still be too soon.

The Best Podcast Outside the Pocket
If you’re looking to avoid Big Rod while still admiring it then we welcome you home. View the majesty and wonder, of the Rod, with Ben & Adam while they shower you with their golden voices. Find yourself being salty at the end of every episode because it ended too quickly. But don’t worry, Ben & Adam are always willing to put out more content.

Constantly insinuating Picard as a pedo
Decent podcast with funny jabs occasionally. They continually beat a dead horse of a running joke that Picard is grooming Wesley Crusher. Made it to episode 18 when they mentioned a far superior Trek podcast, Mission Log. Now listening to them instead of these immature, racist, and homophobic man-children.

Excellent
A great combination of Star Trek, film theory, adult humor, inside jokes and self deprecation.

Never Be Embarassed
I remember first hearing this podcast mentioned by a friend of Ben and Adam on another pod, and thought I’d give it a try. They were six episodes in and you could hear that they weren’t sure where it was all going yet. Now, hundreds of episodes and multiple live shows later, they’ve built something fantastic, with a community of wonderful people around it. Let yourself get assimilated into their pod collective.

Not as embarrassing as advertised.
I wish I was funny enough to leave a witty review, but Ben and Adam are so funny that I don’t have to be! Great show; I’ve listened to 295 eps so far with no plans to stop. I also enjoy Greatest Trek and Friendly Fire. So give it a listen, it’s not as embarrassing as advertised.

An all time episode!
I think this is an instant classic greatest trek episode! Happy to be a cliff kid!

Good show
The only podcast where two guys pretend to have wives, while thirsting after will riker for 30 minutes an episode.
The boy, your son!
You up?
A beloved show given the treatment by two total devotees. Who else could farm the minutiae and head canon and turn the series into something to enough anew. Effectively Gross stands out as my personal favorite, Ruuuudeeeee. Keep up the momentum guys. Love the show.

You had me at Klingon Bar Mitzvah
A “viewer” who is more than a little bit embarrassed to love this ridiculous podcast. I was watching Discovery and loved it, but at times couldn’t tell what the heck was going on. So I started listening to Greatest Trek to help me figure it all out. I read a review of The Greatest Generation podcast and realized I needed to start at the beginning to get all the compounding references. So now I’ve listened to everything and have watched Trek I never thought I’d watch just to hear these guys talk about it all and make me laugh. If you’re listening, Ben and Adam, I need a Barnus Franks medley. Driving to work with you guys singing versions of Barnus Frank was just divine. I love that you’re always having a great time. Keep it up. High Recommend!

It's like hanging out with your oldest, nerdiest friends
Update: I’ve been listening to this show for five years or so now, and still love it. Look. I've been a TNG fan since elementary school. I could not be more firmly lodged in this podcast's wheelhouse. So, if you're not like me...I dunno, you might like this. But if you ARE like me, you should start at episode one and listen to this all day every day until you catch up. I found this show maybe two months ago and caught up about a month ago. Then I told my best friend from high school who lives in another state, and HE has since binged it all too, and he told me "Listening to this is like getting to hang out with you all over again" So, it's great.

Are they the hardest working men in podcasting? Probably not. Do they pack their own merch and nestle the horgons between the shirts? Yes. Saw the show in Salt Lake. It was like the Beatles in Hamburg. Or maybe not, more like the show you and I love! Thanks for doing the work guys!!!

Embarrassment not required
The long standing bit behind TGG is that the hosts and audience are a little bit embarrassed to be hosting and listening to a, as it were, “pee pee poo poo-based Star Trek podcast.” After seven years of listening to TGG and its sister show, The Greatest Trek, I can promise: there is no need to be embarrassed. If you like Star Trek, want to laugh, have even the faintest interest in how TV/film gets made, and/or just enjoy two dudes having a good time doing their thing, you will like—even love—TGG.

Incredible
While laughing so hard that I’m crying, I realized that perhaps I should finally submit a review of this podcast. It is so consistently outstanding and hilarious. I love it so much and look forward to every new episode. I just wish I had learned about it sooner.

Warning Booyah Achieved
At first I was sad to see Icheb get Kennedy-ed in ST: Picard, but now I feel nothing thanks to Ben and Adam’s incredible note taking and research for Nth Degree episodes. I hope to all hopes they give world-famous scab and two-bit actor Robert Beltran the same treatment soon. Adam, pick up the dang sticks next year while you’re not on tour next year and catch up on Horizon: Forbidden West so we can talk about Tuvok being in it. Also, RIP Lance Reddick — it should’ve been Beltran. See y’all in DC.

Well rounded podcast
These guys are clearly overeducated big kids who love Star Trek. The takes are honest and comprehensive with a sprinkle of crude yet witty humor sprinkled in. I just wish they’d do a show in upstate NY! The Star Trek museum in Ticonderoga? Albany?

Wonderful
When I encounter a wild Star Trek fan in the wild, I usually ask them, “Are you a fan of inappropriate humor?” If they say yes, I recommend this show to them (and The Greatest Trek). If they answer no, I wait until I’m on a road trip them and they have no choice but to listen to it! Love the pod and can’t wait to see them live in November!

Ask not for whom the knuck rocks; it rocks for thee.
Few have dreamed of having their own Star Trek podcast, fewer have tried, no one does it better. Before death, many lament the things they didn’t do. Don’t let not listening to this podcast be one of them. I have enjoyed rewatching all the series alongside Ben and Adam (except DS9. That was rough). Thank you both for rekindling a love of Trek that had a big impact on my young life before I discovered sex and alcohol. Now that I can’t have either anymore because I’m married and sober, I have discovered her again through this podcast. And I don’t mind sharing her with you two. Thank you both for the laughs and the eye contact during.

A must listen
Having come late to the podcasr listening game, I have to say this is one of my favorite weekly listens now. Ben and Adam provide a very engaging mixture of anecdotes from their lives, analsysis of various star trek series, and just plain laugh out loud funny jokes and bits. It’s also a connection to the Friends of Desoto, who are an amazing, diverse, and supportive group of people as you will ever meet. Give it a listen and you won’t be disappointed!

Thanks for all the laughs
Long time listener, first time reviewer. This show has filled so many holes in my life. I caught on mid DS9 and have since watched back all th way to the beginning. I don’t even watch along with the shows anymore…but still listen to these guys. Of the miriam Trek pods out there, this one is clearly the best.

Used to like it…
Not sure if the “jokes” are getting worse or I’m getting old but I can’t listen anymore. Two guys who think it “cool” to get drunk and say horrible things under the guise of “doing a bit”. If that’s for you, have fun..I’m out

Ben and Adam are lovable goofballs who also really know their stuff! So great. Love this show. A+, would recommend, etc.

Best parasocial friendship I’ve ever had
You know that feeling when you are allowed to make fun of your parents/spouse/etc., but you get offended when other people do? Welcome to a podcast that makes fun of the thing you love deeply, but it’s ok because it’s also the thing THEY love deeply. And they’re providing really insightful commentary on it, too. You won’t regret joining this corner of the internet.

5 star question
Can you Ben and Adam Pitch three Star Trek series better than what we’ve actually received from paramount. 1: Star Trek - jag 2: academy 3: Star Trek federation- political and cultural thriller (west wing meets game of thrones)
inclusivetrekr
Always fun
I’m a Star Trek fan, but I also appreciate the irreverent respect for the various series that the two hosts offer. They remind me of episodes that I have’t watched in years and make connections (sometimes silly, sometimes serious) across the series.

A Trek Through the Stars with The Greatest Generation
Before we even begin, let's clear our throats and settle in for a journey. You'll want to engage the inertial dampeners because what I'm about to share is no ordinary podcast review. This is a heartfelt tribute to "The Greatest Generation", a podcast that's been our companion, our Starfleet Academy, and our emergency medical hologram in the vast universe of Star Trek fandom. Hosted by the charismatic duo Adam Pranica and Ben Harrison, The Greatest Generation embarks on a mission to review every Star Trek episode in existence. These guys take embarrassment and elevate it to an art form, making you feel like you're huddled in a holodeck with friends, snickering about the details that only true Trekkies could appreciate. Like the USS Voyager itself, they started their journey with The Next Generation. And like any good episode of TNG, their review sessions are a cocktail of insightful discussion, humor, and surprising moments of depth that would make even Captain Picard nod in approval. They then took us through the wormhole to Deep Space 9, deftly handling its dark themes and complex narratives with the same light-hearted banter and irreverent insights. Now they're navigating the Delta Quadrant with Voyager, a show that's often considered the Neelix of the Star Trek franchise. But, in true Greatest Generation spirit, they find gems where others see only Leola root. They bring out the show's strengths while not shying away from its missteps, all with the flair of Harry Kim playing the clarinet. I cannot talk about The Greatest Generation without mentioning the hero of our tale, the stalwart producer, Wynde Priddy. To say that Wynde holds the show together is like saying the Borg Cube is slightly intimidating. Her role in the podcast's smooth running is as essential as dilithium crystals to a warp drive. Without her, we might as well be on an away mission with a red shirt on. The humor on The Greatest Generation is a unique breed. It's not quite Ferengi, not quite Klingon – but something more akin to a Q-like mischief mixed with the self-deprecation of Lt. Reginald Barclay. The hosts' ability to blend their obvious affection for Star Trek with a playful mockery of its idiosyncrasies gives the podcast a charm that is as refreshing as a tall glass of Romulan ale after a mind-meld session with Tuvok. Their comedic timing is so spot on, it's like they've got a temporal causality loop going. Their inside jokes are as contagious as the Psi 2000 virus, spreading throughout the fandom until we're all speaking the same Greatest Generation dialect. At its core, The Greatest Generation isn't just a comedy podcast about a beloved sci-fi series. It's a love letter to a franchise that has inspired and entertained us for decades. It's a community for those of us who grew up hoping to receive an acceptance letter from Starfleet Academy. To wrap up, listening to The Greatest Generation is like having a holographic Doctor singing you a lullaby in the middle of a Borg invasion: comforting, amusing, and a little weird. But isn't that why we love Star Trek in the first place? If you are even a mild fan of Star Trek, do yourself a favor and beam yourself into The Greatest Generation's universe. The journey is well worth the ride. Engage.

Tongue in (Wesley's) Cheek Approach to TNG
This is an amazing podcast! I never listened to podcasts before (yeah, stone age) but this was recommended by a co-worker and I was instantly hooked. Its a great trip down nostalgia lane and sums up the episodes in a comedic way, while not going overly Trekkie-Fan-Boy on it. These guys do a great job of being honest about how good or bad TNG was. If all podcasts were like this, I'd never get anything done in life. One note-- I probably wouldn't recommend it to my mom, she doesn't dig that humor, but I do recommend it to my adult children, other family members, and anyone that will listen to me go on about it. As Kitty Foreman would say, "Thats an A++!"

Seven Years Overdue
I began listening to TGG when it first aired on the Maximum Fun network. I’m a late and life Trek fan so having only finished TOS and TNG a couple of years previous, finding a Star Trek podcast that was both nerdy, irreverent, AND accessible felt like winning the weirdest kind of lottery. The reason I haven’t left a review sooner is because as a geriatric millennial, I didn’t know how. iTunes has changed one too many times since 2002 and frankly, that was deterrent enough. However, last year in an interview I admitted my lack of followthrough in this particular department and now a year later I am more embarrassed about this than by that fact I really, *really* like this Star Trek podcast. So much so I finally opened the Podcasts app for the first time in my life and well, here we are. My question for B

I’m embarrassed too
When the show pops up in my pod player it goes right to the top of the list. By listening I’m able to scratch that nerd/dad joke itch, maybe I should see Doctor EMH to fix that . When I get to a red light and have the windows open, I have to lower the volume, it really is embarrassing.
