There are a few great books out there, but nothing come close to this in its ability to capture key tips, nuance and personality. By the time you've finished an episode, you'll feel as though you kind of "know" the interviewee. Nick does a great job as an interviewer. As a start-up co-founder I wish I had started listening to this show way before I learned to crawl, walk and talk. Nick Moran is very sharp and objective. He asks good relevant questions. Nick has produced a stimulating podcast that has creative segments like "Exceptional Founders", "Why I Passed", and "The Strange and the Unusual". His interviews are thought provoking as well. Nick is intelligent and analytical and always seems to know the right question to ask or right comment to make. Of course, this podcasts targets venture capitalists, but entrepreneurs can benefit too. Furthermore, the podcast's production quality sounds great!

While the podcast caters to investors, it has been very helpful from the founder perspective — it helps me understand the headspace certain VCs occupy and what they are dealing with re: LPs. I rely on it to bring me out of the weeds and to keep me sharp for the next round.

After listening to several different podcasts on entrepreneurship, angel investing, and venture capital, I found that this was the most informative and enjoyable podcast about the topic. Nick does an excellent job moderating interviews with VCs, angels, and from time to time entrepreneurs. The podcast episodes serve as a great primer for the venture capital industry. So, if you’re looking for information on a topic, search through the archives and you’ll most likely find a discussion on it. This is definitely worth subscribing to. Thank you for producing this.

One feedback that I have for Nick would be to create more interaction by letting listeners send in questions to ask the guests.

I'm a startup founder, and I started listening to The Full Ratchet to get a better understanding of how investors approach startup investing so I can be more informed during negotiations. Nick begins his podcast with an excellent overview of the different players, methods, and steps involved in startup investing before transitioning to covering a wide array of topics that are not only interesting in their own right, but also further highlight specific strategies and approaches to investing. His guests are all very well-informed and -prepared for the interviews, and the cram session episodes are particularly helpful for reviewing the key takeaways (which Nick does an excellent job of summarizing), as well as the tips of the week, which provide far more value than their name would imply.

Focus on investors gives insight to on what investors are (or should be) looking for in a business and its team. Entertaining episodes along with useful information.

Having come from the sell side of banking, I was a complete novice in regards to the start-up, VC and angel investment world. Listening to The Full Ratchet has been like attending top notch courses at a prestigious ivy league b-school. I have learned a ton from just listening to this podcast. Nicholas interviews some of the most high-profile individuals in the business, and the knowledge and insight shared by both Nick and the individuals interviewed, I would consider invaluable. It's a great primer for those new to angel/VC investing, and helps those in the industry expand their thinking to be a step ahead.

This is my go-to podcast to not only learn about venture capital and strategies around that but also to learn about new markets. I'll break this review down in three areas: the interview, the content, the ease in which the listener can learn -The Interview- One of the greatest parts of this podcast is the interview style that Nick takes. First, either Nick is genuinely good friends with his interview guests or can put people at ease relatively easily in an interview. The interviews feel like you are the third seat at a coffee shop rather than a stuffy interview in an academic setting. Both Nick and the interviewees are relaxed, open, and real. General flow: what got you into investing, how did you become interested in this market segment, what are the trends in this segment, what are the notable companies, what topic are you most interested in related to investing and who would you like to hear speak on it? -The content- The content is rich and is expansive enough for mature investors, nascent investors, and those looking for investment. Topics ranging from understanding a term sheet, raising a fund and from who you should, to a deeper dive on specific market segments (AI, fintech, space, etc). The content experts that are interviewed is an automatic list on the people in this space that you should follow on social media and on Medium. -Will you learn?- Yes. The ease of the interview makes it impossible to not have a greater understanding of the topic.

Interesting and easily digestible. Nick is a great interviewer and gets high caliber guests. Recaps are also very helpful

Interviews guests like he's reading directly from a script. Get rid of the 2+ minute intro and outro in every single episode, read in the slowest, monotonic, robotic voice. Give us stories from your background and show your personality. When you have top quality guests on, ask them tough questions, not leading softball questions.

If you are interested in angel investing, venture capital, or startups in general, this may be the most educational podcast you'll find. The host, Nick, is a seasoned investor who structures his show around interviews with successful investors where they discuss topics highly relevant to anyone in the startup ecosystem. The discussions tend to be very focused and full of pointers to other resources.

Nick is outstanding. The podcast has spurred a new passion in me on this topic to the point I'm trying to find a way into the space that makes sense as an accomplished finance professional in my mid-30s. The show is always intelligent and interesting. Nick dives deep into various topics but is always concise and on point. Can't tell you how much I appreciate his work.
