I listened to this podcast when it first came out and I’m really glad it’s still here. I decided to give it a listen again. Interesting subjects and really good for the road. The pledge of allegiance episode is fascinating. The 3 part Benjamin Franklin episodes are way more entertaining than I expected and taught me so many things about Franklin that I was completely unaware of.

This has become my favorite podcast! True stories are cleverly told about interesting firsts and how they came to be.

I’m a fan of his history podcast The Bowery Boys. I wish The First had continued to give us a deep dive into interventions and their impact on society.

Very well done putting you in the time and place of that era.

Greg is coming back as soon as he’s done writing his book. Best of luck to him. This podcast is fantastic and rivals the Bowery Boys! Keep me’ coming!

I am a huge fan of Greg Young and what he does with his other podcast The Bowery Boys: New York City History. I am in no way surprised at how high-quality this new show is and how much I enjoy it already. It was good right from the start as Greg already knows what he is doing. Great research excellent production value hand delivery nice point of view and sense of humor as usual also. Thumbs way up can’t wait for more!

My mom's family is also from Spfld MO. She wants to do Rt 66 when she retires. Onto the podcast -- I listened to the Lost Highway episode, obviously. It was interesting and well presented. I love the concept of the podcast, subscribed!

Beware of this podcast. You should only consider downloading its episodes if you appreciate a compelling story, fact-packed brevity, and masterful podcast arrangement. Add voice actors when needed and you have one of the better podcasts that's come along in a while. Greg Young's talent takes the listener on a journey that leaves one better informed with a chance of retaining the information. As a teacher, I plan to offer these episodes as part of the optional support material students may use for several history studies. Listen to one. You'll be hard pressed to avoid another.

The podcast has found its feet and is hitting its rhythm in my opinion. Unique nuggets of insight and story about the subjects. Just listened to the recent offering about the history of carbonated beverages and really enjoyed the advertisements from the past for the different well known brands of pop. Some of them were a bit creepy like Twilight Zone creepy. Anyway, keep up the contributions. First rate.

Huge fan of The Bowery Boys - this is an exciting way to get more stuff that's not necessarily NYC-specific. Seems like the format may be shifting to shorter eps but I do really enjoy the in-depth stuff as well (Ferris Wheel particularly was an awesome one). However it evolves I'll be listening - always fascinating!

I love learning new things especially when someone knows how to keep me interested for however long it maybe! Just like on the Bowery Boys Podcasts! I love The First!!! I have learned SO MUCH from listening to the episodes that have been prepared to-date. Well done, well executed, expertly prepared. A delight to listen to. Only have wonderful things to say. The description of how the "TV Dinner" evolved, About the other guy - Watson - who helped Alexander Bell. The young women who was the subject of the first photograph. Can't wait for the next podcast to emerge.

I've listened to almost all of The Bowery Boys podcasts about NYC. This new podcast is just as good as the original serires is. Always looking forward to the next epidsode.

From start to end the learning does not stop sans a brief ad in the middle. I also love how he highlights various podcast personalities as voices - maybe I will start a podcast so I can be on the show. The voices give it texture and make it easier to listen to. Great show in under 30 minutes.

I have listened to (even reruns) of the "Bowery Boys" and fell in love with the style and great informational value the series offers. Never set foot in New York in my life. But the style and panache they exhibit in their storytelling is enchanting. Now another podcast just as wonderful and full of information that is (dare I say) better because I do know what the things he is talking about are. Don't feel quite so much like a tourist. I would love to see more from this media group. They are extraordinarily talented and could make any subject worth listening to.

Wonderful gem from one of the creators of 'The Bowery Boys' NYC history podcast. Greg Young has clearly done a lot of research, and brought the stories of the first inventions of their kind to life in an engaging, fascinating way. The podcast is well produced, and using actors to give voice to diary entries and account written by the characters is great. Highly recommended.

If you like the nooks and crannies of American history, this podcast is for you. Engaging stories and beautiful production values. Very well done.
