Great podcast but the new host says “that’s awesome man” way too often

What makes this podcast so great is that Connor O'Brien does a fantastic job as interviewer. He structures his questions very well, asking the same set of questions more or less to each person he interviews. Plus he asks great follow up questions. There are other EDM podcast I listen to that a more of an unstructured conversation, which while entertaining, I do not learn that much from. This podcast I learn a lot from. He also has a lot of great guests, but so do other podcasts. It is Conner that makes this podcats great.

I love this podcast. It’s so helpful and informative, and best of all, it’s not condescending. They present information in an informal and conversational way that is very accessible for beginners. It also helps me stay motivated. For example, I’m currently listening to episode 12 and I have to say that I tuned into that episode at the ideal time in my production journey. I am a VERY new producer - so new that I hesitate to even call myself that - and I work a full time job as an attorney which is very demanding. Unsurprisingly, as a very type A person, I am only satisfied if I can give something 100% of my attention. Well obviously I can’t give production 100% of my attention, which lately has meant that I barely even open Ableton and then there’s a snowball of self-doubt and guilt that I should be doing more. This episode in particular talks about time management and just hearing about Levi’s own self-doubt at some point really resonated and made me feel less like a total failure. Thanks guys!

I’m so thankful I found this podcast. Sam and Levi are knowledgeable, fun, focused, and (most important in a podcast) easy to listen to!! Their speaking voices are so relaxing, and I always feel like I’m apart of the conversation. These guys know their stuff, and break everything down into easy to understand concepts. Keep it up guys!

It doesn’t matter if you have no experience or years, if you’re in music production, especially EDM, this podcast is worth every minute of your time. If you’re just starting out you will be exposed to priceless info that could save you... probably years compared to when I started. If you’re already professional, or somewhere in between, you’re going to learn from others what you’ve probably been trying to pick up on for a long time. All the little tricks you wish someone would have spelled out for you when you were starting out are here. Confirmation that you’re doing things right, what you’ve been doing wrong, and just fresh new perspective from industry pros and artists. I wish I had found this show when it was new, but I’ve been listening to it in any spare time I have. Thank you Sam, and all of your guests, for this priceless information. ❤️❤️❤️

I really like this podcast! It's informative and interesting. The reason I couldn't give it five stars is because it just disappears for weeks and months before returning. it's very inconsistent. Other than that, it is really good.

What an amazing source for aspiring producers. One of the most essential tools to getting started as a music producer. With so much technological clutter, the modern day producer has too much to think about. This podcast will help you stay focused and on tasks. 👍🏼👍🏼

I started off listening to the episodes with artists I knew or ones that seemed most relevant to me. However as I continue to listen, EVERY episode has had something very worth while to hear. Even episodes with non artists (tour managers, etc) have been some of the most interesting and useful. Great stuff. I look forward to each new episode!

I am a new upcoming inspired EDM Producer. I am extremely new and want to get all the knowledge I can. This podcast by far has helped me gain so much and I’m only on Episode 5 and I will try my absolute best to watch all of them! From sync licensing, to mixing to literally anything you could possibly need to know about being a producer, this podcast covers it all and makes it applicable to the current musical landscape. This should be mandatory listening for anyone trying to make a career in the music industry. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

If you’re a producer (of any caliber), audiophile, or are interested in the music industry, you will greatly benefit from this show. The interviews are interesting and engaging. I’ve also found myself laughing at times. The insights from successful artists, managers, label leaders, Sam Matla himself, and pioneers in the industry have really stuck with me and will shape my music and the way I go about it forever. In short, I would recommend this podcast to anyone.

You do an excellent job with both the podcast and the website breaking down all the different aspects of edm production in a way that is easy to understand for beginning to intermediate producers of all backgrounds. As someone who has not dabbled in creative works much before, the tone of the site and the show are very appealing, as they embrace the idea that creativity and artistry are skills that can be taught and learned with hard work. There are many reasons why I dig this podcast. There a few things that disinterest me. That being said the reason why its 5 stars to me is that if you dig into these Podcasts you will find relevant and useful information for the modern music producer. Sam has dedicated himself to helping the aspiring the producer and he delivers in more ways then one by getting some really interesting industry proffesionals. I have used techniques discussed in these podcasts and gotten featured on a spotify playlists as well made some critical networking connections.

Sam kills it on this podcast, he interviews professional music producers and other people involved with the edm industry. They discuss topics such as creativity, lifestyle, how the artists got their start, and production techniques. Some episodes are better than others, depending on who the guest is but I always take something new. Sam has great communication skills and does a top notch job with the interviews . He asks interesting questions, keeps it professional, and responds to listener feedback. I have learned much from this podcast, super grateful for it!

I found this podcast when Jesse Brede posted on social that he was on it. Jesse is an amazing guy I've been lucky enough to work with in limited capacity in Austin. I've met a lot of the bigger music industry type guys in Austin and Jesse one of the most impressive and someone I totally respect and admire him. Having Jesse on here gave total credibility to the EDM Prodcast for me. After listening to Jesse's fantastic episode, I've been totally hooked on this podcast. I'm a total podcast junky and this has quickly become my favorite. It's like the Tim Ferris Show podcast for electronic music producers. I LOVE THAT! Sam Malta does a great job of asking questions that are really relevant. If you produce electronic music of any kind, get on this ASAP! Regardless of your level of experience or success as a producer, you absolutely learn from this podcast.

I listen to podcasts for 8 hours a day 5 days a week while I slave away at my crappy, mindless day job. I've always wondered why there weren't any podcasts on audio / edm production. Then I found you guys !!!!! I love being able to learn while I'm wasting away as a wage slave. Then I go home inspired and with new ideas to work on music. Keep up the good work!!!!!! Love it !!!

I signed up for Sam's Foundations of EDM class (highly recommend by the way) as a brand new producer. I've listened to the latest 5 podcasts, but am now moving through from the beginning. Very useful and practical tips for the new producer, and makes it all palatable with real talk amongst Sam and the guests. Keep up the good work, and one day I'll send over my demo 👍🏼

This is a really well done show. Sam is a great host, and keeps finding really interesting guests to talk to. I've just recently started listening to this podcast and I'm hooked. Even though EDM is not the kind of music I'm producing, this has been super inspirational and informative and still very much applies to what I'm doing.

If you are a producer or musician with an interest in electronic music, this is a great resource. It's a very well-made podcast that touches on everything from how edm music is made to music marketing to how the music industry works. I've listened to all the episodes and enjoyed every one!

I love downloading this and listening to it when I'm in the car. So many great tips and I can't thank Sam enough for talking about such interesting concepts on the podcast.

It also brings to light a realistic understanding of what a career as a music professional might look like. The road to stardom is an unlikely and slow journey. The Prodcast explores how you might make a living in the process. Sam interviews a host of guests, whose opinions are often differing and contradictory. And this is fantastic. As a listener, you have the opportunity to choose whichever perspective suits you best. Even better, you start to notice underlying themes that are present in every interview- the kind of wisdom you obtain from experience. These bits of knowledge are the ones you really want to take to heart. It may not be saying much that this podcast is worth its weight in gold, considering the digital bits that it’s made of are weightless. However, the sentiment is the same. The insights found on The EDM Prodcast are invaluable, and they’re also free. If none of that is convincing enough, listen to the Prodcast for Sam and his beautiful Kiwi voice. That man is a stud, I tell you.

This podcast is such a great resource for EDM producers. One complaint I have is when you guys talk about some example of a track that does something relating to the topic, it would be great to edit in that particular part within the show. I know you do put the resources in the show notes, but if i’m out and about and can’t look up the example track, then I feel like I’m missing out and have to pause this podcast so I will remember to look up the example later. Anyway, minor inconvenience…not sure if there is a copyright issue, but fair use should cover this. But other than that, 5 stars!

Just wanted to let you know that the show is great... I have perfected my goat skinning technique and I have you guys to thank :-D Seriously though, I would love to hear you cover the subject of Sub Bass Monitoring, for the purposes of mixing and mastering tracks. This is a ship that sails on turbulant water for many bedroom producers, and I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Keep up the excellent work :-)
