This show is great for anyone who likes modern magic. Devin coming on has been an awesome addition as well! I really enjoy the “sleeve believe heave” section of the show. The dive down also doesn’t jump on bandwagons quickly or often, so it’s nice to actually here discussions of decks while the internet is losing it over the emergency ban of the week.

I don’t play modern nor pioneer yet I listen to this podcast. The hosts are fine but not sure why I keep listening. That Devon guy is cool.

I’ve basically been listening to Magic Podcasts and only Magic Podcasts for a while, and truly, I forgot Podcasts can be both educational AND entertaining. These guys are funny and good hosts, and the episodes certainly don’t feel as long as they actually are. Would recommend to anyone who wants to keep up with the competitive scene.

This is the essential podcast for the casual spike.

I’ve been listening to these guys since their first released. They started as three collective men of the people, and now—-now I listen to them while I slave away at dishes at 11:30 at night while my 18 month old attempts to pull out kitchen knives from the washer that I just previously put in the washing machine. The custom patreon gifts is top notch. They bought specialized deck-boxes in the hundreds to put in optimized spots in their homes and risked their marriages to give us these items. That’s not just a deck box you’re getting people, that’s hope. You wouldn’t even know that one of the hosts broadcasts from his closet in fear while the other has his future divorced bachelor pad to talk about magic. As an audiophile, I really appreciate the dedication these men provide. I personally was one of those magic players that never showered until I discovered Barrister & Mann. Now I smell like lavender and have a neckbeard that rivals Reid Dukes head of hair. Get this product. If you want the knowledge of Jarvis Yu with the good looks of Corey Baumeister whispering into your ear about a child’s card game…look no further than the Dive Down.

Really enjoy listening to The Dive Down to get a better, more diverse, analysis on metas and decks in modern and some insight on pioneer. When the team also gets to have guests that are specialized are incredibly insightful. Great job guys and keep it up!

The Dive Down is just an excellent way to stay connected to Magic. You’ll learn how to play with and against the latest Modern/Pioneer decks and metagame. These guys make me feel like I have a fighting chance, even if I might spend more time listening to their show than I get to spend playing events. It doesn't hurt that the hosts are just good friends with a passion for their hobby. Also, they know they could talk about soap and still be entertaining, so sometimes they just do. Keep up the great work, guys.

I’ve been playing Magic for roughly 9 months now. This podcast has taught me so much about the world of Magic, competitive playing and format/deck types. I love the podcast, I barely get a chance to play anything aside from commander due to work/life schedule. But I love listening to you guys and staying informed.

This is the best competitive Magic podcast I’ve listened to, and the one I look forward to most each week. It strikes the perfect balance of spikiness and casualness. My only warning to potential listeners is to beware the deck specialist interview episodes. They have resulted in me buying into no fewer than four modern decks: Amulet Titan, Indomitable Creativity, Burn, and Living End. Thankfully, for my bank account’s sake, no one can make a Pioneer deck sound fun.

Hi Dive Down Dads, I love the show, but have been very confused how you have time to practice Magic. I wake up everyday and play with my 11 month old daughter until I go to work at 1pm. How do you guys have time to play magic, record a successful podcast, and test your skills during the weekend events?

Good analysis, good guests, good banter, but the snide potshots at Faithless Brewing are uncool, especially after you leaned on their expertise to learn the Pioneer meta. Instead, how about some friendly competition a la LR vs. LOL? Team constructed DD vs. FB on MTGO and we can see whose playmat deserves the place of honor.

No matter how long the work week drags on I always wake up energized on Thursday mornings knowing my weekly “show” is going to make my morning/ afternoon commute better. I have been playing magic for about a year and this show has inspired me to pursue magic at a competitive level and start attending tournaments in modern and pioneer formats and helped me to achieve a gameday win and a 6th place finish in a RCW in my first few tournaments. Since being a subscriber to this show I have branched out to other magic podcasts as well, to fill the time during my lengthy commute (on everyday but Thursday ;) and there are many quality ones out there but none compare to the chemistry of the Divedown! When you listening along to the fellas chat, you feel like your chilling with your friends talking about the weekly events and changes in magic!

Fun to listen to, informative and well-produced, with relevant, interesting topics. Over the last few years, these "casual spikes" have become my favorite Magic podcast. The show features excellent card and format analysis from the perspective of folks interested in the competitive scene and looking to improve their game (without necessarily aspiring to be inducted into the Pro Tour Hall of Fame). They cover Magic's best formats: Modern, with a bit of Pioneer and a touch of Explorer. I especially enjoy their occasional Deck Dive episodes, which focus on the ins and outs of a particular popular archetype. I've saved several of these episodes for later relistening. They've also built a great community of their own on Discord, so if you enjoy the show you can become a patron and discuss the episodes with the hosts and with other listeners. Thanks for all your great work! I really appreciate the nuance you bring to discussing different strategies and the metagame as a whole. It stands in stark contrast to many other, maybe, "spikier" commentators who talk about "correct lines" and "bad strategies" that I personally find thought-terminating in a way that stunts innovation. They are straight ballers in their assessments of the formats, new cards (except when they get it wildly wrong) and supporters of their supporters. They also reminded me that MARIO HAS RISEN!! The Dive Down is the best Magic the Gathering podcast and it’s not even close. The crew is lovely and knowledgeable, they always have great subjects, the podcast is easy to get lost in for hours and you’ll always leave a better player than you came in. This podcast makes up for the lack of affection my father showed me as a child.
