I appreciate your podcast. I first heard Elizabeth on LRC and it led me to this podcast and other ones she has appeared in. I’m a practicing Catholic and it is my world view. I would be interested in your thoughts on Socialism from a Catholic lens. I’m a capitalist and support limited government because power corrupts and putting people in “debt” to the government is dangerous. Side note … I don’t support corporate socialism either. I genuinely want to support robust social programs (such as UBI, Social Security for kids, programs that strengthen the family) but Government “forced” altruism is not charity. I feel it creates divisions because the “giver” gets no joy and “receiver” has no gratitude. Knowing mankind’s shortfalls, help me understand what economic system is most in line w/God’s will.

I like the wonky politics, not a fan of the humor

A great podcast. I like the wonky stuff.

Recently crossed the Tiber and always appreciate the Bruenigs take on the vast yet fleeting events and people that make up “our” milieu.

Always smart, funny, and interesting commentary on policy, culture, sometimes family and faith. The only weakness is that it covers electoral politics pretty extensively for obvious reasons but it’s not either host’s usual beat and they have petty limited understanding of it and pretty huge Bernie Twitter blinders. It’s often heterodox on other issues but never wavers from assuming that all non-Bernie candidates’ behavior is explained by bad faith, that the only problem with the “political revolution” theory is false consciousness, that Biden is in “cognitive decline,” etc. Outside of elections, though, it is genuinely a great listen. If you enjoy it and can afford it, there’s enough extra Patreon content to warrant subscribing.

Two very intelligent, distinct personalities. At its best, most interesting, when there’s more effort being applied. Loved Black Death episode which I resisted.

Only problem with this podcast is it makes me wish I was a part of their marriage.

I like Bernie but he was out of the running before I could even vote in the primary. I can’t stand to listen to these two any more. He lost. He didn’t get the votes. Get over it. Thank God I don’t have to be self-isolated with these two. And I don’t have to listen to them in self-isolation any more.

I love this podcast! I find both hosts so intelligent and easy to listen to. They don’t talk about a subject unless the are well read and researched which I appreciated. So many podcasts just try to sound woke but they don’t know what they are talking about beyond buzz words. Wish it was every week!

This is my favorite podcast. Perfectly struck balance between irony and sincerity, the high- and low- brow, soothing and salty, sacred and profane. I could think of no better way to present left politics in a more appealing package. Praise be to The ‘Tism.

These guys are both so smart and funny. I can’t believe they are younger than me (and I consider myself young)—they are already so knowledgeable and accomplished; can’t wait to see where they go. Two great differing left wing perspectives on everything from policy proposals to TV and sports. The show is a cute and fun look “behind the scenes” if you’re a follower on Twitter (I recommend) or of their published work. I wish I had the scratch to follow them on Patreon, because my one complaint is they do make sure this free podcast feed is second tier—the episodes come out well after they’re recorded and many don’t come out at all. This will be the first podcast I pay for as soon as I can justify paying for a podcast.

....but Elizabeth is a genius of dry wit. I can listen to her riff for hours. And Matt too is weird and innately funny. Podcast is a gem.

I really like when the talk about parenting. It’s nice to hear down to earth people who think their kids are cool and fun and not some combination the The Crucible and saintly perfection.

One of the best podcasts. Very funny and informative, at times very touching.

Very easy to listen to. The only issue is that sometimes the audio volume is a bit on the low side.

I followed both on Twitter but had no idea they were married or had a podcast, but I stumbled upon it and have now binge listened every episode. They have an amazing ability to breakdown complex issues and make them simple while being conversational and humorous. I’m so jealous and hope their sex life is horrible.

I love reading these two and now I love listening to them. Thoughtful discussion of fundamental issues is politics in an wry, entertaining style. I hope they keep making episodes!

I didn’t find this podcast until it appeared in the politics top charts. I’ve enjoyed the work of Matt and Elizabeth over the last few years. I don’t think I’ve heard them together on a podcast before but from it you can tell they have good chemistry. It reminds me of conversations you might have with a friend in their living room at night while hanging out—two people chatting about things they’re interested in.
