Long winded speakers
Full of air. Long winded speakers. Asides, analogies, and “ not examples.” Just be concise.

Life Giving Word
Like having a mirror put in your face daily. Only better than the one you find in your bathroom because this word and this mirror may actually help you see that speck in your eye. Thanks for the instruction Father Mark and Dr. Richard and Father Paul. Thanks for pointing me toward his life giving word.

Excellent podcast fully support
Sometimes it can get in the weeds a bit politically, but I TRUST this is with the best of intentions;) Father Paul is awesome! I replay his podcasts frequently. An addendum Uncircumcised, allow nothing to circumcise your heart. Pour it out!

Good info, but annoying delivery.
These guys are very intelligent. Even more than that, they’re EXTREMELY biblically literate. However, near every single episode is delivered in a way that is so smug that I often have to turn the podcast off because I get frustrated with their tone. It’s so condescending and pessimistic that it comes across as “we know how to interpret the Bible, and not only are you wrong, but you/your mentor/your pastor is stupid for thinking _________ means ________.” Again, I’m sure they don’t really feel that way, but that is how the message comes across a lot of the time.

Brillant. Unapologetic. Deeply Challenging.
I arrived at "Bible as Literature," by chance. I always appreciated the Bible for the writings, stories, allegories and images, but firmly reject the associated institutions and personalities attempting to consolidate power by usurping the Bible's text. This podcast is a sort of homecoming for those who want to be challenged instead of comforted and patronized. It explores the depth religious teachings while expounding on the philosophy of religion. Knowledge is embraced and learning is praised, rather than vilified. The hosts, Dr. Benton and Father Marc, are critical thinkers. They pursue the functional approach to spirituality and scripture and confront the most self-righteous among us to look at how we live our lives in relation to the guidance written in Biblical scripture. As an agnostic, I'm startled and humbled at the shortcomings of my own life Dr. Benton and Father Marc lay bare, by critically analyzing scripture and relating it to the modern world. They reject the populist approach of who is right and who is wrong and challenge the listener to be introspective - We are always wrong. We are always the problem. The discussions are cathartic and soul stirring. I now cherish these discussions, and wish we had more leaders and men like Dr. Benton and Father Marc to help guide this Nation thru very trying times.

No one cares about your politics
You’d alienate fewer listeners if you keep your liberal opinions to yourselves.

Eye opener
Since being introduced to this podcast, I have questioned and changed in so many ways. My doctrine, my view on people, and many more. I am planning on going back and picking up the earlier teachings. Learning.

Excellent
Biblical teaching and old fashioned in the best sense...wisdom... for we who desperately need it. Thank you Fr. Marc and Richard.

I couldn't recommend this enough.
If you are looking for a Christian podcast that will challenge, inspire, and strengthen your walk then look no further. Americanized misconceptions of the Word are countered with a deeper, more enduring truth found in the original context. Learn why children aren't innocent, but rather powerless, why there are no heros in Scripture, and why the enduring good news of the Gospel calls all to servanthood.
