Platforming pseudoscience
Generally this podcast has helpful conversations for people struggling with their mental health. Sometimes it veers off into territories that make me uncomfortable, including claiming you can magically manifest money (???) and wearing shoes is causing your illness. Take it with a grain of salt.

Thank you!
This podcast really simplified and helped me understand what was happening in my brain! I was hooked after the first episode! Thank you Michelle!

Always authentic
I’ve been enjoying Michelle Chalfant’s wonderful, interviews and comments on her podcast, website and also the journaling prompts that she gives in November. She always seems to be upbeat and yet is honest about any issues she has about herself and how she’s dealt with those issues using her own processes. I had the chance to meet Michele personally in Nashville along time ago and I’m sure she doesn’t remember that, but it was a memorable experience for me. In my life she is a special person and is meaningful in the development of my human understandings and capabilities. I love her.

Love the Show
Mike Foster is a charlatan. He has plagiarized the work of Abraham Maslow and his hierarchy of needs and refuses to give credit where credit it due. I insist you invite him back to your show and force him to admit to this travesty. There is no way to fix the damage that has already been done, but perhaps this can be where the healing begins. Love the show. As always, your biggest fan, Nolan H.

Amazing
I have been struggling with anxiety and insecurity for well, pretty much forever. I just started this podcast this week and my thinking has already changed. I feel like I am free, getting somewhere on my path, to figuring out who I am, why, and most importantly how to be my best happiest self. Long way to go but this has definitely been my ah-ha moment. I feel lighter. Hope.

Has helped me so greatly.

I really appreciate this podcast.
First time listening to this podcast and love the topics and advice which are easy to digest and understand. I especially like the episode with her son Blake. His insights and maturity to be able to explain the point of view of a younger person and son in this modern world were very helpful to me. The wisdom that permeates from them both are great examples of good parenting, strength and purpose. People need this. Thank you both for sharing.

Magic
This podcast is pure magic. I started listening to this pod last winter occasionally. It’s been a slow build for me but now I can’t wait to listen each week. Michelle blends so many different principles and theories through in unexpected and helpful ways with fantastic guests.

Fantastic host, great content!
Recently discovered the The Adult Chair podcast and am really enjoying it! Loved the candid conversation with Dr. Jeremy Goldberg about listening to your heart to find out who you really are. So many helpful takeaways in this episode like heart whispers, fear shouts, and love bombs! So so good! Thank you!

Episode with Blake
I just listened to the show you did with your son Blake. It was incredible. It moves me to tears. You must be so incredibly proud of him. It made me so happy to hear a young man with such a passion and dedication to helping others. I can’t believe his accomplishments at such a young age. I’ve enjoyed listening to your show and learned so much from you over the years. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Sending wrong message to abused
I liked this podcast and ironically really connected with the one about boundaries and Rebecca’s story with her parents. But in a recent episode Michelle said basically, “ no parent wants to harm their child. And I always say ‘no blame or shame to the parents because they all do the best they can’.” While in context to healthy families that may be absolutely true, but this sends a bad message especially to ones who grew up being abused and shaming themselves thinking it was their fault. The truth is there are bad people in this world, and some of them are parents and some DO NOT CARE if they hurt their child or their spouse in front of their child. Whether it is mental illness or what causing it, it happens and sometimes a lot of recovery and not blaming themselves for the abuse is needed. A kid has no choice but to take it and live with it. Some parents do want to cause harm and actually enjoy doing it, whether it be means of control, etc. I have a lot of healing to do and have always thought if I were a better daughter I would have been treated better. It has taken a lot of therapist trauma healing to be able to feel like I actually deserve to live a full happy life. And the control that to this day is still put over my Dad is absolutely terrible. I write this in hopes you will do better for the tender hearts listening to your podcast for help. This is not a good statement to put out.

Quality topics, too much judgment
The podcast is full of such interesting, unique, and helpful topics and tools, but it would be so much better if the host was less judgmental. She seems so certain that her perspectives on topics are the “corrext” perspectives, which is very unusual for someone in the helping profession. I would not want to be coached by her, although some of her podcasts are real gems in content otherwise.

Thought provoking.
I found Michelle’s podcast through another I listen to. I started listening from the very first podcast and I wish it had found her sooner. This podcast has made me think about how I communicate with friends. I’m also digging into how I react at work and how I behave with colleagues. I have started creating boundaries with those attempting to live rent free in my head. Thank you Michelle.

Life changing
My review is long overdue!! I found TAC a few years ago and feel blessed to found this tool. The concept is easy to understand and Michelle lays out information in a way that is intriguing and informative, without being overwhelming. I have learned SO much from the podcasts, meditations and the in person conference. Give it a try, you just might find yourself ready to sit in your adult chair!

Adult Chair podcast makes real changes possible
I started listening a few years ago and then tried her free journaling and then her monthly workshops. The adult chair is very different approach but gives you usable and simple things to try to improve your life. I love her meditation. Not all episodes are created equal hence the 4 stars so if your not getting it try a different episode.

Mind opening!
I have been listening to The Adult Chair for about a month now. Every episode has been amazing!! There was one where the topic butted heads with my personal and religious beliefs, but because of the other episodes I was able to sit in my adult chair and purposefully, actively listen to thoughts and ideas I didn’t agree with. And I still thoroughly enjoyed that episode!! Really, if you’re looking for ways to benefit your mental health and mental abilities, this is a great podcast.

This podcast is changing the way I show up in life
I hadn’t heard of the concept of the adult, adolescent, and child chairs until I stumbled upon this podcast. I have been working on issues related to codependency for awhile, and have begun doing a lot of boundary work. I have typically been triggered by the behavior of other people, and then I’ve reacted from a non-adult place, but after only listening to this show for a few days (rather fanatically as I drive and do yard work) I find myself showing up differently, especially in my currently rocky relationship with my partner. I decided to quit doing the dance with him, and the results have been noticeable. Although I don’t care for some of his behaviors I’m able to say, “That’s his stuff,” set a boundary of what I need to do to care for myself, and then move on with my day, without being scared he will leave. (Note- this is stuff I’ve been working on for years, and I think I’m ready and that’s why it’s not so difficult now. If I were just starting it would have been way harder) I realize, because of what I’m learning from Michelle, her guests, and her incredibly relatable way of explaining concepts, that people really are going to show up as they are, and that it’s okay. I am building my own sense of self and sense of worth and agency. If someone doesn’t want to move away from behaviors that are unhealthy for me to be around, then I can’t be around them. If my relationship ends, I’ll be okay. I knew this logically, but listening to this podcast is allowing my mind, body, heart, and spirit to connect it all and for me to begin implementing huge changes in my life. I wish all humans could/would be willing to learn these concepts as it would improve the way we interact in ways I can’t even imagine. Listen to this podcast. I am not a fan of using hyperbole, except for when I write humor pieces, but this podcast really might just change your life, your relationships, and help you on your journey to becoming the version of yourself you’ve always wanted to be. Thank you so much, Michelle. ❤️

My Daily Listen
A friend introduced me to the Adult Chair podcast 6 months ago and learning to use the tools of the adult chair has helped me so much in my recovery walk that it has become a part of my daily ritual in the morning. Many, many topics touch on what I have and am still struggling with. Through learning to sit in my emotions, I am learning to let go of some real heavy stuff I’ve carried around and treat myself and my loved ones with more compassion. Thanks Michelle

Common sense approach
I am grateful I found the Adult Chair. Moving back to my where I was raised 18 years, 40 years later has been a challenge. Yet, grateful for the last 4 years getting be closer to my parents before my dad died. Now life is giving me another challenge to grow from with my mom and her health. I am grateful though. The Adult Chair has provided techniques to exam unintentional childhood woundings to learn how heal and thrive. Plus how to recover from toxic relationships. Wish Michelle the best in achieving your goals with The Adult Chair.

Changed my life
While my husband was doing his own work, I found Michelle and her podcast on codependency changed my life. The lightbulb went off. I finally understood what it meant and how I affected our marriage. Michelle is a wealth of information combined with compassion. Although I am listening and not interacting, she is a safe space to learn because she speaks in such a way that I can hear her. She inspires me in a way that I want to know more. She gives hope as she offers tools. I am so grateful!

This show helped me heal
I can’t remember what show it was, but I just typed in “help with a breakup” or something like that and some random podcast came up. I clicked on the show and started listening and Michelle Chalfant was the guest. It was a life- changing half hour for me and I immediately downloaded the adult chair and started listening afterwards. The way Michelle talked about attachment styles and the three types of chairs really helped me to not only recognize how I was feeling, but why I was feeling the things that I did. This was deep, childhood- rooted, unresolved trauma that was suppressed for decades. Shortly afterwards, I signed up for therapy. It’s been about six months since I started this journey and it’s helped my relationships with friends, family, coworkers, and probably most importantly, my relationship with myself. I feel the healthiest that I’ve ever felt in twenty- nine years of life. I’m now in touch with my own emotions, I understand why other people act the way that they do, and it’s all because i randomly heard Michelle get interviewed on some other podcast. Thank you for doing this, Michelle. It truly has changed my life for the better.

Interesting topics and discussions
This is my first venture into podcasts of this subject matter. Did some searching and failed to find something specific I could relate to. Found this podcast, gave it a listen, hoping to perhaps find an occasional interesting topic here and there. But as I scroll through the list of shows and listen, I have yet to find one that doesn’t offer an interesting perspective. The guests always have an interesting backstory.

Healthy Sexuality
Thank you for this much needed show. I listened to this last night. My husband (of 42 years) and I had our 1st conversation about sexual preferences in over 30 years. It was mind blowing! So very helpful. And we’ve always had a pretty healthy relationship. Much appreciated!!

Michelle - Thursday’s can not come fast enough. I LOVE your show… and my sister is now listening to your show and loving it. She told me she took 8 pages of notes when you had Monique Rhodes on sharing insights and wisdom about Happiness. We had a great conversation talking about everything we learned - just from that ONE episode. Thank you for all you do to help people like me - living a successful life, but always wanting to grow and improve. I hope to join the course you teach one day. Sincerely, Darlene Lovelace.

I have been listening to this podcast for about a year. I really enjoy Michelle’s vulnerability and her approach to living in the Adult Chair. The practical tools and knowledge shared in her podcast empowered me to live more authentically. I am learning self-compassion and in turn compassion for others. I have always been a peacemaker and in doing so I feel I had lost myself. I find her Podcast topics very wise and helpful. Thank you for caring.
