SAL!!!!!
While the interview and post Yankee life check in with Sterling was great, Sal stole the show this week!!! Between the electricians at his house and getting the texts while he works, and then the Ranger game story. I love how he just opens up about going to the game and not telling the wife. There is no way this ends well for him. Can’t wait to hear what happens next week when he checks in. Keep up the great work Jimmy. South Jersey is listening.

Big fan 5 star even with wrestling.
Usually the best thing weekly to listen to. Jimmy talks about the current fun stories of the day. When Sal is on it’s great almost a mini Stern show when they used to go behind the scenes. IMO the best part of the Stern show! Not in touch with wrestling so I skip those episodes or fast forward to Sal if he is on for notes.

Great takes + going strong with SI changes
Despite all the challenges at SI, Jimmy just keeps getting better. Not spending oxygen on silly rants regarding Kelce / Swift has made the show a lot more focused on media topics and the evolution of the NFL recently (for the better). Give Jimmy a booker so he doesn’t have to worry about that so much! (Although he does a great job booking guests.)

So glad the podcast is back
Grateful for Jimmy and Sal - love the show (rebook Jeff Passan!) and glad that SI is going to continue to be around

I look forward to this every week.
Always enjoy the guests (except wrestlers) rather be honest, but I listen every week and look forward to it. On multiple occasions, the conversations between Jimmy and Sal are funny, and very entertaining as I’m a relocated New Yorker. Plus, Sal is so easy to relate to (as a married man) as he juggles his personal life with his wife and daughter and big family, his horrible commute, his actual job and now the search for a house that he hopes will solve many of his challenges, but Sal being who he is, will still have a chaotic life. Love the show Kenny S

Last Saturday I was sitting in my hotel room around noon killing time before going to UConn game. Put on the podcast and was excited to see guest was Dan Orlovsky. Being from ct I’ve followed his career from high school through his espn gig. I listen to entire interview. Fast forward to the evening as I’m walking through the msg concourse and who do I see but Dan Orlovsky! First thing I blurt out is I listened to you on jimmy traina today! Then I asked him about the triplets and Reese cups. Strange times for sure

Civics for Sal
Please add a weekly Civics lesson to Traina Thoughts whereby you explain to Sal that not only is RFK Jr not JFK’s son (that would actually be JFK Jr. but also that it’s very important to vote for Biden because he’s a much better President than Trump.

Love everything about the podcast. But Sal, Gio and you could have another pod just talking to each other for an hour. That was great.

Great pod
Huge fan of the pod. I am a Sports media nerd who loves the behind the scenes stuff discussed. Really enjoyed the details Gio gave about the Boomer and Gio morning show. All the pods are great, but the all timer has to be Charles Barkley. That was incredible. Looking forward to hearing Bob Ley. A few people I woild love to hear a pod. Mike Francesca, Boomer, and some hockey people before the playoffs. Emily Kaplan would be great. And Sean McDonough would be fascinating with his great career.

Long time listener
I’ve listened to the sports media podcast for a long time and it’s always been a favorite. As whiny as Deitsch was back in the day, Jimmy has taken it to a new level. I love the recurring guests like Curtis, Marchand, Joe Buck, and especially Mad Dog. Jimmy is consistent and doesn’t act like a fanboy even when he got his long time white whale, Charles Barkley. Sal at the end is a perfect segment to close with - used to think he was a bit of a ballbag but l like him now. PS, Rolen is a much better ball player than Jeter!

Great pod
Love the podcast! I appreciate him moving the wrestling out of the main feed so I can skip it. I love how Jimmy gets everyone on that we need to hear from in the industry. And the segment with Sal is a must listen every week.

Guest Idea
You were asking for guest suggestions & Marchand and/or Ourand would both be great. They both left to work at new outlets and they had to abandon their podcast & would love to hear why.

DON’T GET THE “ROMO-ANCE”
Enjoyed listening ti the recent episode with Bryan Curtis. However, the platitudes given to Tony Romo were puzzling. While I agree Romo has an on air presence and sounds like “a guy at the bar”, he was hired to provide analysis and insights. Often, Romo seems to wander through each broadcast looking for something pithy to say and Nantz is often stepping in to “save” him. The best thing that can be done to help Romo is for someone to give him a GPS device so that he can navigate his way through each game he calls. The best things CBS can do is hire Greg Olsen to replace Romo.

Great Listen Always Entertaining
Jimmy does a great job every week making each conversation interesting. Interviews always feel like you are just listening to two people having a natural conversation. A must listen to anyone interested in the landscape of sports media. Also, you need to start listening now (January 2024) because if you wait you will be in the dark as to why Sal and his wife are living in a hotel.

The best of the best
There are a good handful of sports media podcast that have their own style, this is the best of them. Jimmy does insightful interviews, but then lets you inside his life when he talks to Sal. This is a great mix of information and life. I enjoy listening to a new episode whenever it drops.

New Sirius app is horrendous
Hi Jimmy, HUGE fan of the pod. Been a religious listener since the pandemic and love your takes on pretty much everything. I had to write you after hearing your rant about the XM app since I have been so disgusted with it as well. Not only does is the 15 sec gone but the ‘Restart Show’ button is also gone. That was my go-to on my way home from work to listen to Dog’s opening. Sal’s house hunting is must listen every week. Even though I hope he finds a house someday, a few more months of looking would be great content! Keep up the great work.

Great Podcast
Jimmy does a great job getting great guests. The interviews are engaging, I always learn something new about the guest. Jimmy’s segments with Sal are like listening to two friends banter about the topics of the day. I have lived my entire life on the west coast and I appreciate Jimmy introducing me to Chris Russo. I hope this pod keeps going for years to come!

This pod continues to entertain and inform
Whether you are a fervent sports media follower, work in the sports media business or are simply a sports fan, the “SI Media with Jimmy Traina” podcast does a great job of entertaining and informing. Jimmy asks all of the right questions, isn’t afraid to throw his guests a tough or potentially uncomfortable question, takes listeners behind the scenes of sports media, but also he can relate to the average sports fan and their thoughts on sports and sports broadcasts. His guests, such as Mike Tirico, Ian Eagle, Joe Buck, etc., always bring new and entertaining stories to the pod and often let their guard down (thanks to Jimmy’s excellent interviewing skills) to give listeners an idea of what really goes into doing their jobs, whether its the prep work, the travel or other off-the-air stuff. Adding the casual “Traina Thoughts” with Sal Licata over the past year or so has allowed both to showcase their personalities and the relatable nonsense that takes place in everyday life. Just a great listen every week and if I miss a week, I make sure to catch up ASAP! Thanks Jimmy for always informing and entertaining the listeners! Mike in NJ

Favorite Pod
Jimmy, love the podcast. I found it last summer and have been a loyal listener since. It had always been good and love your ‘every man banter’ with guests but you’ve taken it a new level the last few months. Barkley, Scott Hanson, my fellow Boston fan Bill Simmons and Ian Eagle a few weeks ago, who probably had two or three of the best stories I’ve heard on a podcast. I look forward each Thursday morning to see who’s on deck for that day. I love Sal’s segments too - as much as I’ll be happy for Sal and family when they find their house I will miss the updates and stories about the search. Keep up the great work Jimmy and Sal - you guys are great.

One of the best Sports podcasts…
Great guests. Great banter. Jimmy is the every man sports podcaster. He gets great guests, asks great questions, and the banter with him and Sal at the end of every show is the best. A must listen every week. The Curb Your Enthusiasm style tangents about Jimmy refusing to mow his lawn and Sal navigating his in-laws always leave me laughing. My only suggestion to Jimmy and Sal — upgrade your Apple TV remotes to 3rd generation ($60)!! If Sal can have cable and YouTubeTV at the same time, he deserves to leave that old slippery remote behind in favor of the new one.

Always a 5 star but Ian Eagle always takes it to the next level. Love when he is on

Never miss an episode
Ian Eagle’s airport complaints, plus the story about flying with the guy and going to the same hotel had me in tears it was so funny. Also enjoyed the behind the scenes details of the Conan taping. Thanks Jimmy.

Pod is first team All Pod League. Jimmy & Sal kill it every week. Guests always outstanding but the Jimmy and Peter Schrager back & forth recently was next level. The 5 mins on Debbie Gibson had me laughing so hard I had to pull my car over!

A great listen every week!
I love how much Jimmy has raised the bar on this podcast since taking it over from Richard Deitsch. Plenty of A-List guests from around the industry that we all want to hear from. And it’s impressive since we ALL (right here, right now) know he books the show himself. 😉 Love the weekly segment with Sal as well. I relate to so much of the conversation, including gambling, wives, kids, Sunday Ticket, steakhouses and more. I’ve lived in LA for 18 years but am from NJ originally, so I appreciate some of the “only in New York” stuff as well. I also work at X (yes, that’s what it’s called now) and have shared some of the show clips internally in which you both praise and bash the platform. But like you said, it’s not going anywhere. Keep up the good work and have a great holiday season ahead. For Sal, I hope that includes finding some kind of house somewhere in my home state.

Multiple reviewer here (is it helpful to get repeat reviewers, Jimmy?) Must listen to pod every week. I even usually like the interviews on the topic that we aren’t going to mention that Jimmy is into that I’m not. It’s your pod, book whoever you want that is available - it’s working! Been on a roll lately with fun interviews with some great guests, and I always enjoy Traina Thoughts with Sal. Highest recommendation! Macka in the Bay Area

Possible Cough Solution
Jimmy, Tried to DM you but twitter doesn’t allow me. Love the pod. I had a 2 month cough earlier this summer and may have a solution for you to get rid of yours. I’m no doctor but it helped. Figured I would try to contact you this way since you said nobody leaves reviews haha. Reach back out if you’re still looking for a solution.

Audio w:Marchand
Love the podcast, longtime, subscriber, and listener. Just FYI: your audio was very muffled on the episode with Andrew Marchand. He sounded clear and clean. You sounded like you were locked in a small closet and it was difficult to hear you.

Love the Show
Jimmy & Sal— The AppleTV remote IS too touchy. It is also very susceptible to slipping between couch cushions. The benefits of a sleek design do not outweigh the downside of being elbow-deep in my couch for half of the afternoon. At the risk of sounding stodgy — bring back the old silver remotes that were the size of a cafeteria tray! And give me buttons I can actually push while you’re at it. I appreciate having a place to bring my very niche, very first-world complaints. You guys make me feel heard.

Good sports media show
Jimmy generally has good interviews in the sports media world he just has an obsession with cancel culture that can be exhausting to listen to

Love this show!
Love the wrestling guest! Keep up the great work

Two thumbs up
Great show with an interesting sports media interview every week. The Charles Barkley and Scott Hansen interview were great. Don’t get the negative wrestling reviews, I’m not a wrestling fan and simply skip the interviews and move on with my day.
jamfan40
Great pod, needs more estrogen
I can overlook the wrestling episodes and the NY-centric topics, but why aren’t there ever any female guests on the show? Do you not ask? Or do women hate you? Still deserves 5 stars because it’s a must-listen for sports fans every week - especially during the NFL season.

Sunday Ticket
Love the Pod Jimmy. I'm new to podcasts I have enjoyed yours tremendously. Barkley was an awesome guest. Also love when you have Dog on. I am a big WFAN fan I love the stuff you do with Sal. Especially the Sunday ticket stuff. One question. Why do they not let you get the local game on Sunday ticket? I get it for blackout/ratings purposes but in this day and age I would think they could factor that into ratings. Keep up the good work I look forward to your guests during the football season. - Mike in Floral Park

Great interview with Charles Barkley
You always provide a great interview, but this week’s with Charles Barkley is your best ever. Keep up the great work.

Always move your pod to top of queue
Listen every week on android so had to figure out how to review on apple. Love the interviews and banter with Sal. Not a fan of wrestling but some of the wrestling guests interviews have been interesting (I know how to FF). Also enjoy when you and Sal discuss what you are streaming. I found the new 30 for 30 on Walton great any chance to get Walton as guest?

Love the show (slightly less with wrestling)
I love listening to Jimmy each week. His interviews are fantastic (Barkley was unbelievable), but time with Sal makes me laugh each episode. Not a big fan of all the wrestling stuff, but it is easy to fast forward. I really want a deep dive into Sal’s basement set up! Keep it Up.

Of course it’s 5 stars
Great podcast. I actually first turned in for a wrestling interview and have listened ever since. Really enjoy the weekly chats with Sal. The list of guests have been top notch and make this a must listen on a weekly basis. Goal for this NFL season is to get each broadcast team to bring up the podcast on air like we got to enjoy on Thanksgiving last year! Thanks for putting out a great show

Incredible get!
The interview with Barkley was so good. Love the show, including the banter with Sal, although like many I ff through the wrestling segments.

Synopsis of every podcast….
New York media…twitter…New York sports…twitter…WWE…twitter. Jimmy is a sports media critic that never criticizes anyone in the media. Every columnist is great, every announcer is great, every sports personality is great!

Best Pod
Great job as always Jimmy. Love your enthusiasm for the start of football season. I feel the same way. An idea for you - when Sal can’t make it, get someone from a football town not in NY. Bob Kravitz was excellent. You could move it around. As always keep up the good work.

Solid podcast
Most guests are great. Sal seems a little bit pointless especially in the last one, no real opinion on anything. I’m not a fan of WWE which he seems to love. But I agree with your take on fantasy. Would love to hear expert’s take on if betting decrease fantasy in the next 5-10 years. Like the sound quality and the preparation he puts into it.

Great podcast. Interviews are free flowing. Sal is very good. Variety of guests gives something for everyone. As a Twins fan, it pains me to give a 5 star review to die hard Yankees fan but he did get a couple hockey guests on so that wins out.

What Makes Wrestling a Sport?
Loved Richard Deitsch on the SI Media pod and occasionally listen to Jimmy because I’m interested in sports media topics. But why do these folks cover wrestling like it’s a sport? Hard pass on all of that. As well as Traina’s New York point of view. If that’s your space, awesome, but these real weaknesses make this pod only an occasional listen for me.

Russo content
First of all, I’d like to say I am a new fan, but a big fan of this podcast. Secondly it is key for you to know that I started listening to this pod because of the one and only Christopher Mad Dog Russo! Third and most importantly, I tuned into your most recent episode with Russo as a guest. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear you bring up the topic of his future. It was rooted in a quote he made in response to my speculation as a caller to his show. I wondered aloud that maybe “Bar A” was going to be the beginning of the end to his career because of some ominous things he said in the lead up to the event. In retrospect it was not so ominous. However, he said to me on air “we will be with you through the football season”. You picked up on that, and asked him about it! So, not only am I a new and satisfied listener to the pod, apparently I’m an inadvertent content contributor! Thanks, Terry in York, PA
