I haven’t had time to sew since I had my daughter but listening to them talk about sewing has made me feel like I’m moving forward with my craft while I do dishes or fold clothes. Honestly my favorite thing about them is that they seem to really know how to live - what an awesome life you guys have crafted for yourselves -#goalz!! Please don’t change a THING about this podcast it is perfection! Update: I hope everything is okay - they have stopped the weekly podcast. Also, I have had trouble subscribing to their paid support (a website glitch where when I sign in it keeps looping) and did email but haven’t heard back. This has been my favorite podcast for years I hope you guys are just busy and not stopping your regular recordings 😭 Update again: going back to relisten to my favorite podcast. I have been diagnosed with cancer since writing this review and chemo makes it hard for me to watch TV without getting a headache so these episodes are more appreciated than ever. What a joy to listen to these brilliant, hilarious ladies riff on my favorite topic. Love this show the most!!!

I have enjoyed listening to Mallory and her mom Zede so much! I lost my sewist mom to dementia (ten years before she actually passed)- so I kind of live vicariously thru the sweet relationship they demonstrate. Their love for sewing is only second to the love they have as mother and daughter. I hope they renew recording the podcast.

Really enjoy the interplay between mom and daughter. I miss the podcast and wonder when it will return???? Please come back!

This is the best sewing podcast available. I am so grateful for all the information and sewing skills (tiny hems!), that I learned from you. You have inspired and encouraged my sewing journey. Miss you tons.

The main reason for the rating is the constant interrupting that takes place. I love garment sewing and I wanted to learn more about sewing and I didn’t find this podcast to be helpful for that. There is a lot of chit chat in this podcast and I normally don’t mind that but as a young, non-white woman living in a major US coastal city I just couldn’t relate to the tone and content. It’s not for everyone.

Yet again, I have learned something new about sewing on knits. I was having the issue of rippling and turned down the pressure….didn’t really work. But I bet lengthening the stitch length will!!! Thanks!

Was excited to find this podcast, but I can’t listen to it. Lots of partial sentences due to the constant interruptions and talking over one another. Seems like the daughter had more descriptive and helpful info, but the mom would loudly interrupt - sometimes so loud it would startle me. Sad to have to take this podcast off my list.

I was trying to listen to the latest episode about making shorts that ride up. But, every time the younger host (Malory I think?) was about to say something helpful, the other woman would loudly interrupt her with something unrelated or just unhelpful! She talked so much about HER experience and how things work for HER, never giving Malory to chance to share what all the other comments said. It was so frustrating to listen to, I just wish the older woman wouldn’t interrupt so much.

Stop interrupting each other, learn how to share the mic.

I really wanted to like this podcast- I was excited for the episode on sergers since I recently bought one. Turned out to be just a BabyLock ad (“I wouldn’t have a serger if I couldn’t have a BabyLock!”). Meh. I have a Viking and threading is Not Hard. I’m sure other machines are nice too. Was hoping for more general serger info and tips.

I've been listening to this podcast since they started it and am always entertained. There is a lot of good sewing information in here, but also some funny and yes, sometimes snarky commentary. I've been sewing for over 30 years and still learn a few new things from these two ladies. I also purchased a few classes and find them excellent quality and am very happy with the M2M leggings and T-Shirt classes. I'll forever listen to this podcast. Thanks Zede and Mallory!

I’ve been listening the last couple years and love the detail they go into each subject. For the most part I am a quilter but have ventured out into different areas I was scared of because of this podcast whether it was fabric,Techniques, thread and machine types. Yes they have their favorite products but explain why it’s not a ongoing advertisement. Except for maybe babylock that is their personal preference. I can blame them for me buying a baby lock Aria this past week and don’t regret it. Thank you ladies for sharing your years of knowledge, I’m mostly self taught over the last 20 year but have improved so much with your “guidance”

I just listened to your podcast on Sewing Surfaces and knew I had to write my first review. The day before I was tediously hemming the tiny sleeves on a dress for my two-year-old. I was constantly checking underneath to make sure I wasn’t sewing the other side and I was convinced I was stretching it and warping it out of shape. The entire process was so draining I knew I would dread that finishing step on all future projects. When I heard you describe turning a garment inside out to topstitch, it did, in fact, completely blow my mind! I literally exclaimed out loud, in the middle of my workplace, “SEWING IN THE HOLE!” It made so much sense immediately! I already know this little tip will completely change how I sew and how I mentally approach a project. I can’t wait to hem everything! Congratulations on 6 years of amazing podcasts and thank you SO MUCH for continuing to share all of your sewing knowledge (both old and new!) with your listeners. It can truly be sew-life changing!

There is so much good information in this podcast, but I can’t listen to it because the audio is so awful. They get really quiet and then REALLY loud all of a sudden. Then they get quiet again, and then a commercial comes on LOUD. It is literally painful. Which is a shame.

I just found your podcasts. I love the banter between you and your mom. It makes it feel as if I am right there in the sewing room with you.

I love this podcast for reigniting sewing-motivation. It feels as though I’m getting tips from expert friends. It’s wonderful to hear the hosts have some fun and laugh about their own trials and stories. If you’re looking for community and education, this is for you.

As I was listening to your t-shirt episodes, I was drawing a t-shirt pattern from a t- shirt that I really like. I was making the pattern a little bit bigger then the original shirt.

If you don’t mind hearing the word like in every other sentence accompanied with irrelevant chatter this is for you. I find it very irritating!

I was hoping the content in the podcast was useful but it’s impossible to tell because they constantly talk over each other.

This sewing podcast is the best! Before there were podcast, there were radio talk shows. ‘Car Talk’ was one of these shows where two brothers talked about car issues that people called in on. They were so funny injecting their humor while giving good, solid advice making it so fun to listen to even if you hate talk about cars. Zede’s and Mallory are like this with sewing, they are so informative, I get something out of every single episode, and I’m laughing my as? off! If you don’t like the interruptions, you don’t have to listen however, you will be missing out on a great education in sewing and so much fun ;)

This is the first podcast I felt strongly enough about that I bothered to write a review. This cute mother daughter team works so well together; it reminds me of me and my mom! They have great topics, and even when they get off-subject a bit, it’s still entertaining. I’ve learned a lot from these two lovable personalities. Something to note here is that if you have sensitivities to certain ways of speaking, like “upspeak” and stuff like that, you won’t find it here. It’s a breath of fresh air after listening to other sewing podcasts that have quirks in their speech like that.

Hello, I love sewing and your podcast has excellent information. I appreciate your efforts in the podcast but a more planned script could be helpful. It is difficult to listen to considering that your mom interrupts you constantly.

I loved this episode because it talked about the current PC trend of body talk in such a refreshing way. It doesn’t repeat the trendy talk about all bodies beautiful or all bodies should be celebrated, blah, blah, blah. It goes beyond that. What look are you after? And how do you fit this part of your body to achieve that look? Period. Instead of body shaming it’s become trendy to people shame for having opinions about what they want for themselves. I want to lose weight because I hate the way I look and feel and my health is compromised. I used to be thin and now I’m overweight. I still need and want pretty clothes. On my weight losing journey how do I accommodate my belly. End of story. How refreshing! I do have one criticism. These ladies are obviously related and are probably in the habit of interrupting each other. It sometimes sounds snippy. It detracts from the fact that each of them have their pulse on different generations. They need to give each other space to say what they want to say. This is the first episode I’ve listened to and it is excellent. Both in terms in expertise and in perspective. It is so rare to hear both a younger and older generation be that articulate, that right and that different on the same topic, I for one am excited to hear more.

Love the content, but PLEASE stop talking over each other! Mallory has so much good info, but mom Zede keeps talking over her. I can only listen for so long before I just turn it off. I can only hear one person at a time.

There’s some really good information I. This podcast, but the delivery is painful. They are argumentative and prideful. I really want to like it, but…It’s hard to listen to.

My husband and I just made a necessary 1,200 mile trip. When it was my turn at the wheel I listened to your podcast. It was a great way for time to fly during our long drive to care for family. Your content is excellent and the banter is entertaining. I drove as much as possible so I could listen to you! Thanks to you, my sweet husband got lots of car naps.

Hi sister sewists! I was listening to your Seam Guides podcast & when you were both talking about ‘bar guides’. Someone suggested a bar for sewists (BTW - if you build it, they will come!!!). Zede mentioned if you drink enough, your vision might be like looking at bargello. Mallory immediately grabbed that & came up with ‘Bar Jello’!!! Brilliant!!!!!! Bar jello!!! I agree with many the comments about the great content in this podcast but the talking over each other (especially Zede) is very irritating. I would love a podcast with a lot less banter and a straightforward presentation of the great knowledge they have to share.

I really wanted to like this podcast. I think both Mallory and Zede are very knowledgeable and have a lot of great insight to share. Unfortunately though, the dynamic between them is really insufferable. Zede constantly corrects, talks down to, belittles and interrupts Mallory, who sounds like she’s just trying to get a word in edgewise most of the time. I guess the two of them find their banter to be playful? But to me it sounds and feels like a never ending family argument. To be honest I think I would really like a version of the show hosted by Mallory alone, or maybe Mallory with guest interviews.

I was excited to find a great podcast about my favorite hobby. The first episode I listened to was about upgrading your machine. I was interested to hear their thoughts. It was very distracting that they kept interrupting and talking over each other. The information was good but the talking over detracts from the goodness.

I was happy to try a new sewing podcast, but found the interrupting, over-talking, and generally poor listening skills too much to bear. Tried a few episodes thinking it might just have been a one time thing, but had no better luck with the next. Sadly unsubscribing.

Mallory and Zede put in a lot of effort to bring us a sewing podcast every week. And each week I look forward to the new topic. Even topics that aren't in my sewing realm are interesting to me because - it's sewing! I'm a long time listener and and am only sorry I didn't leave a review sooner. Thanks for everything! Helen

I was/am new to sewing when I found your podcast. (About 6 months now) Wonderful, learned so much. I had never even knew a serger existed and got my first one 3 weeks ago and love it!!! Thanks so much for sharing your love and knowledge for sewing.

Sorry ladies! I can’t withstand the banter. I am glad you enjoy each other, I just don’t have that much of an attention span. It seems like it is all inside family jokes.

I agree with a lot of the other posts, great content, ladies know what they are talking about. I am learning a lot! However, they both need to stop talking over each other ! I think Zede does it more often, and she raises her voice! It really is annoying. There are far too many good sewing podcasts for u to risk losing your listeners.

Zede and Mallory deliver a fresh and innovative spin on sewing podcasts. Zede is a master sewist and she has taught her daughter well. It's inspiring to see the mother/daughter team work together. Their wit is only surpassed by their wisdom in the sewing world. Zede knows the rules of sewing and then bends them or breaks them to achieve a better and more efficient product. They are irreverent but not about quality, safety and organization. There are gems in every episode. The team crosses a wide and varied sewing landscape with something for everyone.

I just started listening last week and have since binged about 30 episodes. I listened to some of the oldest and newest to get a sense for improvements. First, the good! These two know their stuff. The cross-generational perspective is great. Age-wise, I'm right between them and I can relate easily to both. I've been sewing for 20+ years, and I can't say that so far I have learned a lot, but the real value for me is that I am excited to sew again after a couple years of very sporadic stitch time! Production-wise, I appreciate their attention to grammar and pronunciation, which they sometimes call out in a funny way. However, they have got to stop interrupting each other. It's hard to listen to, and it muddles the message. They're aware of it, but they haven't improved it from the old episodes to the new. And as a musician, I can't leave this unsaid: I have to skip the theme song because the pitch is off. And that little hiccup at the end is just … no. But I'm still cranking through these episodes! Particularly enjoyed the recent episode on Sewjo. It was just what I needed to hear to get me back on the pedal. A few adjustments could make this really great!

I think the content is good but they’re continually talking over each other, each raising their voice more to be heard. That’s hard on the ears especially when listening with earbuds. After two episodes I had to stop listening due to a headache. It’s probably one of the worst flaws in a podcast, in my opinion.

The first thing that struck me about this podcast is the mother daughter relationship-it is really obvious they have a genuine bond. Next I was WOWED by the sheer amount of sewing knowledge these two gals possess. Since I started listening my sewing has become MUCH less frustrating, yay! I have taken on some brave new sewing challenges. Their easy t helped me produce my first wearable outer garment (that wasn’t a costume) and gave me more confidence in pattern drafting. Thank you for putting this podcast out there!

The experience and knowledge that these two women (or should I say "people"....I don't want to offend?) have is invaluable to sewers, however their condescending and snarky attitude makes it incredibly difficult to listen to. Some episodes are so overpowered with cackling and whining that you miss the sewing / construction information they are delivering. I have found other sewing podcasts with kind, inclusive, knowledgeable hosts (Love to Sew!) so much more easy on the ears and mind. The Sewing Out Loud duo preaches inclusivity and gender neutrality - but it's at nauseum. We get it....we live in the same world you do...but for the love of all things inclusive, just move on and talk about sewing and PRACTICE what you preach! People might have opinions different than you, but let's find common ground in sewing and making.

I tried to like this, but they talk over each other all the time and their voices are difficult to listen to. This makes it hard for me to follow along. The Love to Sew podcast is much more informative and easier on the ears.

These ladies are extremely knowledgeable about all types of garment sewing. I have gained quite a bit of info from them. However, they can be Extremely condescending. Especially to people that post things in their supposedly “inclusive “ FB group. They shout that they are so “welcoming “ of all people, but they continuously belittle people that comment that maybe are not as skilled as they are. People are at all levels and many do not make their living from sewing. I don’t know, but if you claim to be “inclusive “ then maybe it’s not best practice to laugh at, belittle or critique people that do not know as much as you. Be more helpful rather than rude. Don’t use the “inclusive” tag just because you are PC. Use it across the board; or you negate the word.

I listened to one episode and decided to go back and listen from the beginning and I have learned a lot. This podcast is great!

I have enjoyed every podcast I have heard from them. They have shared so much useful information and I have been sewing for 55 years and considered myself an advanced sewist.

This would be a great podcast if there was 80% less meaningless chatter and more actual information, instruction, education...
