Bad sound
Hard to listen to. Volumes are all over the place and hissing is hard to overcome.

Great host, guests and content!
For those interested in Victorian London or Jack the Ripper, this is a great resource.

Will make you smile from ear to ear
Great guests, topics & discussions regarding Jack the Ripper, but you already knew that. It’s a great program & everyone involved deserves a cookie.

LISK was fantastic !!!
LISK talk is amazing! MIT grad school guy is the speaker and the details were well thought out and worthy of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Hope they do other mysteries but I realize the amount of time they invested was enormous AJ

Disappointed
I don’t know anything about Jack the Ripper and was hoping to learn the origin through the podcast but was completely lost other than who they were ruling out as potential candidates. There was no real hysterical insight or story into the debate. Also hearing one of the guys keep interrupting people to get his point in was a total turn off to listening to future episodes. I feel this was poorly planned and sloppy

Too Much Chewing and Smacking
I want so much to listen to this series, but the chewing and lip smacking are very distracting. Every little sound carries. Can someone advise if it gets better, and I may give it another shot? It’s an interesting series and I want to listen.

The ONLY Jack The Ripper Podcast!
Intelligent, well spoken discussion about a subject that will fascinate any student of crime! I LOVE the subject matter, I love 90 percent of the guests, only thing keeping this fantastic podcast away from 5 stars is Alley (can’t place her last name).... listen to a handful of episodes you’ll notice her, no one could miss her... VERY unhappy woman and it shows, given the times you of course MUST have a woman on any show (inclusiveness 🙄) She try’s too hard to appear relevant, she is condescending to all of the guests, she apparently thinks she amusing, she just comes off as obnoxious. Talking over guests and injecting her opinion over other speakers! Her input is NOT needed in a discussion that she constantly sounds outclassed in!

Bad Mics and Chewing Gum
Very interesting content. Would definitely benefit from better mics, and by telling guests not to chew gum during interviews. I just had to stop listening after the guest, Tom, kept smacking on his gum and talking around it while chewing during his discussion regarding Elizabeth Stride. Drove me nuts!

Almost perfect
I'm starting from the beginning and so far I'm enjoying what I'm hearing...it would have gotten a five star from me if it weren't for that Ally person. She is terrible! She is rude, condescending, and grating to listen to. I do hope in the later episodes they've gotten rid of her.

Solid but dense podcast
Solid podcast that brings in lots of great scholars and different theories on the Jack the Ripper murders, but suffers for seeming like a podcast that is just for Ripperologists (those that study the Jack the Ripper crimes) and no one else. There are no episodes to inform new listeners about the general knowledge of the crimes, victims and so forth (the first episode starts with an unknown suspect with no setup), thus anyone unfamilar with the Jack the Ripper crimes, and haven't paid attention in awhile, will be lost. However, the episodes are still engaging to listen to with lively debate, and if you stick with it, it is possible to catch up. Just wish some primer episodes at the beginning of the series was there for new listeners.

Great Podcast Except. . .
I've learned much from this podcast and am truly thankful for the information shared by the foremost experts in the field of Ripperology. The problem I have however, is that panelist Allie makes certain episodes unlistenable to me, personally. I prefer when opinions are questioned civily, without attacking, as every other panelist on the podcast seems to do. Allie seems to disagree.

FOR GOD'S SAKE MAN, MUTE YOUR MIC!!!
Would be excellent, but someone is apparently eating tacos and swishing with mouthwash while the guests are speaking, making the show unlistenable.

Expert Commentary
I am new to podcasting but I'm an old hand at the Whitechapel murders. This program is entertaining, informative, and thought-provoking. I look forward to every podcast and the dialogue between the guests works so well that I feel I could step into the conversation at any time. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone interested in the enigma that is Jack the Ripper.

Update your technology or fire the oral fixator
I just started listening and the material itself is 5 star. However, when you have 4 guest's on at the same time, some will make unwanted bodily noises such as sucking their teeth or breathing into their mic. and so on. HOWARD! STOP Sucking on the lolipop (or whatever it is) right next to the mic? It's annoying! Either get over your oral fixation or get off the show!

Main host is inarticulate and annoying
Love the podcast's content and the guests are knowledgable and engaging. However the host is sooooo inarticulate...he really brings the credibility down a notch. No doubt he's passionate about the topic but his awkwardness and weird interview style (e.g. Dorset Street episode) makes the whole show look bad. As other reviewers have me mentioned, the sound quality and background noises are awful, but all in all the content is good so I will keep listening.

Great podcast
I truly enjoyed it when they ran regularly. But when it dropped, I was disappointed. Come back!

Awesome Podcast!
This podcast talks about all aspects of the Whitechapel murders which took place from the end of 1887 to 1891. JtR was the main suspect of these murders. JtR was only a name made up by a letter writter. His real name may never be known. I disagree with the previous reviewer. Ally Ryder may come across like she is attacking or always disagreeing with Someone but she has the right to say whatever she wants. Clearly Some people can't handle her comments or opinions but it makes the discussions more interesting. Just going along with people's theories and not challenging them makes things uninteresting and presents the subject of these murders as less meaningful. I like the discussions enough to look past all the audio problems. Theyre not a big deal to me, this isn't a professional radio show. hopefully more episodes are put out, but life Happens and I understand there are more important things to take care of. Great podcast. It'll never get old.

Wish there were more episodes
I love this podcast! They go into exquisite detail on virtually every angle of the crimes. It's my favorite podcast right now - have listened to all of them at least twice! Audio quality varies and the female panelist is sometimes annoyingly intense about keeping speculation out of the conversation.

Another Victim of Jack
It was a great podcast. Then it stopped updating. I think Jack got it. It's worth 5 stars but they stopped so 3. Enjoy your archive guys!

I want to love this podcast!!
But would the person who is eating on mic and whatnot Puh-lease stop? This cast has the potential to be one of the best available in any category if not for these mistakes. I love everything else!

Good with the bad
The information put forth is great, i can't get enough. But apparently editing is outside the scope as far as i have heard. And for the love of god, nothing is more maddening than eating on mic and babies crying in the background.
Fistfullofpodcasts
Excellent podcast will bring "newbies" (like me) into Ripperology.
This is a really informative podcast and entertaining as well. There are always plenty of very knowledgable guests both amatuer and professional. The one responsible for the heavy breathing, eating, and drinking is Howard Brown. I tend to give him a pass because he is intelligent and he has a great personality. Actually, the podcast would suffer without him. My favorite guest, who is not on much anymore is Mike Covell...I just think he is polite, to the point, always listening and ready to respond with useful info and he never interupts other people. His accent is very stong but also very fun to listen to for a change. My least favorite guest is Ally. I don't like to pick on her, it's just that her personality is too abrasive for this podcast. I honestly believe that she means well, it's just that she thinks very logically and does not have the charisma for a podcast. If they can just smooth out the audio quality a bit, the substance of the podcast is high quality.

IT"S FREE!!! WHAT DO YOU WANT IT TO BE????
Ok, People this is silly, I have to say people get pretty picky when it comes to I-POD Stuff. This has great information and discussions from some of the foremost RIPPEROLOGISTS in the field! AND IT IS FREE! You know it is really hard to spend your life doing stuff for others for free if you just get complaints?? With all the stuff going on in life and they take time to actually give information and have discussions so you get all points of view. They are not required to do this ...so as someone that is totally in to JACK THE RIPPER... I THANK ALL THOSE WHO COME ON TO SHARE THE NEWS! I am greatful .

Illuminating
The podcast digs into specifics of the murders I'd never thought about before. All of the panelists are knowledgeable and well spoken. The production values could be improved, but it's not enough to keep me from listening. They do sometimes get a little "inside baseball", skipping over information that an audience less steeped in the Ripper world than they are could benefit from. However, I will keep listening and maybe one day I'll be able to keep up.

A real good podcast but the Audio is not the best.
The info that is given about the Jack the Ripper case is varry good and i enjoy listening to it. Sadly the audio much of the time is not to good but over all I rilly enjoy it. If you are intrested in the Ripper case its well worth listening to.

Love all these podcasts
The debate is interesting, the details intriguing and the guests, for the most part, are wonderful. I really enjoy the wide range of topics the podcasts cover and the variety of guests they have on. The only complaint I have is about panelist Ally. She comes across as very condescending and argumentative. Her questions often seem like personal attacks. She is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, quite honestly.

extremely in-depth, informative, interesting
Wow. If you're interested in the Ripper murders but want to go far deeper and more up-to-date than most books and web-surfing will take you, this is definitely a podcast you will enjoy. The level of detail and knowledge is pretty amazing and all the participants seem to contribute a different specialty. (I agree w/prev poster that the female voice seems a little rude to the other panelists at times.). On occasion the level of detail/length of podcast exceeds my admittedly short attention span. But then, one of these can just about get me through my Saturday housework. Props for the Moz intro music, too.

Great Info, But Production Values Wanting
This podcast is excellent for the information conveyed, but be prepared to attempt to filter out the highly distracting breathing, drinking, eating and apparent tooth sucking "sound effects" unknowingly (hopefully) offered by the participants. Where's that mic mute again...?

Really good!!
I greatly enjoy this podcast as it's something that I can listen to on my headphones at anytime. It's like a Ripper class on the go. Always informative and entertaining. I enjoy the roundtable style BUT I would REALLY appreciate it if the 'casters would STOP breathing into the mics. This creates an VERY unpleasant sound effect and makes it difficult to hear what the others are saying.

very good pod..
i really enjoy listen to them its very well done

Essential
If you are interested in Jack the Ripper, this is essential listening...Ripperology 101 for your iPod. I am a screenwriter who is presently penning a script featuring Jack the Ripper ("Great, another one", you're likely thinking) and this has been a wonderful way to wade deeply into the waters of ripper lore and to give my story a fine and firm basis in all that is Jack. I strongly urge you, dear listener, to subscribe and allow yourself to be transported back to Whitechapel, 1888. FYI, the only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I feel Ally, one of the usual panelists, can be rather condescending and rude towards guests and has an arrogant, better-than-thou vibe that leaves me bristling. Still, this is a first rate podcast!
