Amazing podcast!
A great podcast with great research straight to the point!

Thought provoking.
The news in LA just discovered the existence of an LA Sherriff’s gang/clic, Los Banditos, I think they called themselves. Angelenos of color need be worried.

Too much sympathy for criminals
I don’t know about this podcast. I will never understand this weird mentality of decriminalizing criminals. At one point, one of the criminals said that he was only burglarizing a house, so he didn’t deserve to be shot at...well, play stupid games, win stupid prizes. And at the end of the day, the police officer deserves to be able to go home to his/her family, safe and sound.

Trash
As a fan of Serial, I was excited about this podcast when I first heard about it. I listened to three episodes - which was generous - before stopping. It’s clearly one-sided and anti-law enforcement. The naive host, Annie, accepts anything the criminals say as truth while insinuating the police just want to kill Hispanics and African Americans. Notice how all of her interviews are with people locked-up, for the offenses in question, or in the case of the fourteen year old (at the time of the shooting) another crime. They are gang members and career criminals, and just about everything they say is untruthful. If you hate police, this podcast will be enjoyable to you. But anyone else should avoid it, because you’ll just become annoyed. Don’t waste the approximately three hours I did. I did find one part comical though In the first episode when the main criminal in the story says something to the effect of, “Why would I be carrying a gun? I was on probation.” This was in almost the same sentence as admitting to burglarizing somebody’s home. Haha! Dirtbags.

Good content, okay journalist.
I really enjoyed learning about this case and listening to the perspectives of the people who committed the crime, but I did not think that the journalist conducted her interviews in a professional manner. It didn't matter who she was speaking to, not once did she change her tone. Although I understand conducting interviews is difficult I have heard podcasts where you can tell the journalist knows how to communicate with all walks of life in order to get the information they want with an unbiased tone.

Subjective Reporting
within the first 10 minutes, one can easily tell the biased angle from which the podcast is reporting. But, I’m sure fake news enthusiasts will enjoy the listen.

Meh
I've gone through 3 episodes and it just never has caught my attention at any point.

Worth the time
This podcast’s reporter stitches together detailed research to look at officer involved shootings in LA. It is engrossing to listen to and as you listen, it reminds you why investigative journalism is so important in our society.

holy wow ep 5!
I doubt all the people reviewing this as biased have listened all the way through.

Terrible journalist. False information is being given in these podcasts. You’re no better than these criminals you’re trying to defend.

Biased
Boring, and just a bad premise. It’s an obvious woman with an agenda and an axe to grind trying hard to make it look like all policemen are evil. I can’t really take it seriously when I know it’s so slanted.

This isn’t reporting. This is a one-sided narrative
The narrative that police are randomly shooting unarmed black men more than any other race and without cause has been repeatedly debunked. The Washington Post won a Pulitzer for its factual assessment and data on this, but people continue to blow it off. However, it gets good ratings so people keep at it. No one cares that this narrative actually creates more fear in people that come in contact with the police AND gets officers killed or injured. If you’re anti-cop and have no desire to learn what policing is really like, this is your podcast. What about victims’ rights? Making criminals out to be victims does not serve the public in any way.

Great in theory, Not so much in reality
I really wanted to like this podcast. Exploring the issue of police shootings is a crucial and much needed dialogue in America today. But this isn’t actually that dialogue. The host / investigator makes “factual” statements with tone and subtext that make her opinion clear without any context (for example, stating with judgment /emphasis Inunza’s early arrest numbers, but failing to give any context as to whether that number was above or below average ... 27 arrests in a single month isn’t a sign of a cop out for vengeance if the average number in that area is 42, or if certain events made crime rates higher at a given time). She also appears to have little to no knowledge of the law surrounding the obligations and rights of officers in these situations, given her misstatements and/or omissions. I work in this area of law and had to stop listening midway through episode 3, as I found myself focusing more on the holes in the facts and information presented than on the story itself. I would love to see a podcast on this topic done well, but this just isn’t it.

Just meh
I feel like nothing was ever found out. Nothing was solved or presented in a way that would help me make my own conclusions. Disappointing

With a grain of salt...
This is a intersting P-CASTthat sides with criminals. After 3 episodes, KPCC oviously sides with the criminal - admitted felons - that plead guilty but are really are not? It seems to me, if you are truely scared of interations with the police you would not burglerize homes? I mean if you admittidly break the law; burlerize homes and steal cars what outcome would be expected? Look, Im over 60, it has ALWAYS been popular to hate the police....this is NOT new.

Criminal sympathizer
This is basically cop hater, criminal sympathizer porn. People love to feel bad for criminals until it’s their house getting broken into and their child’s room getting ransacked.

Fantastic
Love this podcast so far! We need to get these crooked cops off the street! I hate that this podcast is already over. Will we get more episodes soon?

In fear for his life
Seems that Officer Inzunza is in fear for his life quite a bit more than his fellow officers. If they aren’t going to get rid of him then he should be on desk duty. I’m sure pushing a pencil would scare the hell out of him.

Excellent reporting; needs vocal coach.
5 stars for the superb investigative reporting on one of America’s most notoriously corrupt police departments. 1 star for Anne Gilbertson’s awful vocal fry that made this podcast even more difficult to listen to than the graphic descriptions of police violence. Keep up the great work but please get a vocal coach!

Am trying
I started the first episode, but was somewhat amazed that the reporting person immediately believes the felon who was breaking into homes. He claims he would never have had a gun with him because he was on parole so he wouldn't want to get caught with a gun.... Ummm, okay, but it's okay when you are on parole to commit a burglary..?? The reporting of this, so far, is way too biased and not objective at all....

Reporter with an agenda
Unbelievably one sided. Always happy to see public servants held accountable but this is a reporter with an agenda. A reporter seeking out evidence for her own beliefs at the expense of the truth.

Great Investigative Reporting
Please listen to all 6 episodes before making an opinion. Some people were very cruel to Annie & the show (I’m assuming their Trolls). Annie reports all sides of this story. She interviews retired police officers & even has a great interview with a Professor from Arizona who specializes in police research (my apologies I can’t remember his title). I really appreciated his input & some of the other guests she interviewed. These are complicated times we’re living in & it’s refreshing to hear a podcast that really educates the lister on a very important subject. Thank you Annie! Great work, the music is awesome as well.

I really enjoy the way she lays out the facts of the case, while looking at each perspective- those of the officers in question and the people involved in the "incidents." I like how her opinions are backed up by facts and that this isn't another podcast based purely on suspicion. The editing & music are nice features and I look forward to more episodes!

No Evidence yet
It’s produced well, but it’s not really compelling. After listening to the entire 6 episodes the proof that the guy didn't do it is...the cop has shot a few people, and the guy says he didn’t do it. That’s it. There’s nothing else. There really isn’t any investigative reporting here. There’s the guys story and that’s all. No evidence, no new findings, nothing. It’s hollow.

This is so relevant
Why isn’t this actually on the radio? Or better yet a reoccurring segment on the nightly news in every major US city?

Excellent Investigative Reporting!
I was hooked from the beginning. The passion and the courage of Annie Gilbertson is beyond words. I can only imagine how dangerous this investigation was/is. I was taken to a place only the unfortunate experience often. Thank you.

I am hooked!!!!!! Anxiously waiting for the next episode. This podcast reminds me of Serial.

Questionable.
I, like many other reviewers, LOVE true crime podcasts. However, this one feels a bit “anti cop”. The suspect(s) in these cases were clearly committing a crime. And let’s not fail to mention, they are REPEAT criminals. I don’t feel sorry for them. Not one single ounce. You do the crime, you do the time. I feel like this podcast is trying to get listeners to feel sorry for the criminals.

Balls
This reporter has balls and I love it. She gets answers and it’s obvious she works hard. Great show. I won’t be surprised if it reaches #1 on the podcast charts.

Shocker - Criminal says he didn't do it
Newsflash - Criminals don't like cops and can win millions in lawsuits just by making claims. But If your anti cop then you should love this. It's like asking you ex spouse how good of a person you are.

Hilarious insights into the minds of criminal losers
This podcast literally has me laughing out loud hearing actual felons describe their thought process in committing crimes and then running from police. It is fascinating to hear these admitted burglars and car thieves and their family members share their justification for their lives of crime and decisions to lie and resist arrest. The rationalizations for their behavior are CLASSIC! So far each of the first two episodes includes astonishing examples, in their own words, of self justification. Assume there are many more to come, so stay tuned!

Highly Addictive!
Investigative reporter Annie Gilbertson and her colleagues have put together a compelling tale of a cop with a habit of shooting people. The “true crime” narrative unfolds in a riveting fashion that grows highly addictive after a few minutes of listening. I can’t wait for the next episodes!

Excellent true crime podcast-want more!

Raising my eyebrows
Well-produced, as expected. I admit, there are only two episodes so far but the journalist is only able to get information from the offenders in this story and forms her views from there (or so it seems at this point); admitting, “I’ll make my own file [on the deputy].” One moment she takes the word of men behind bars as gold, then slams public officials who have been convicted as people to not be trusted. Not sure if I can trust this reporting...

Wow!
Listened to the first two episodes - cannot wait for more. Really well done and compelling investigative reporting. Reminds me of one of the first in this genre - Serial - so happy to have this to listen to while I sew.
