Overrated !!! The host tends to try to lead up to asking the person a question by telling them what it is he wants them to answer in so much detail and then answers the question before he lets the person have a chance to speak. Also, then continues on to say “talk about it.” He says, “talk about it”so many times it is irritating! I have listened to this podcast over many year but can no long. No longer a suscriber.

Update: it seems like the issues I described have been improved. Thank you! I love Radio West, It’s very well produced and engaging. However, this podcast feed has some issues. The episodes appear and disappear at random. I save them to my feed and then they get taken off. PLEASE fix these issues! I know the episodes are on their website, but it’s much more convenient to have them on Apple podcasts.

Such a deep and great thinker!!!

RadioWest is my soulful go-to. I check for new episodes regularly with the same level of need and want that I have for having a nourishing breakfast lunch dinner each day. But sometimes in my multiple podcast listening binges the latest episode will gracefully follow behind another show without me consciously “selecting”. I find it almost mystical how it plays out with RW especially yesterday when I heard Melissa Bond speak heartbreakingly on something I barely survived myself. When I couldn’t sleep beginning in May of 2018 I was completely horrified and desperate to keep myself from wrecking - I failed catastrophically to keep myself and my health together and employing the “help” of a doctor I trusted forced me down a path I did not want to tread but was assured that I’d be ok walking. It was not ok for a solid, terrifying year and that doctor absolutely broke my trust by not helping me at all. First it was ambien, then Ativan, then Xanax, then Ambien XR, then this drug and that drug and on and on a train I had never bought a ticket for. I lost weight, my appetite, friends, a genuine loving partner, my job, my other job, my dignity, my dreams, my ability to lift, my ability to walk further than a few steps, my ability to drive, my ability to write and type, balance, ease in my own body, natural human confidence, access to my spirit, peace, and devastatingly I lost my mind and the ability to make any sense of the world and my own body. I am still recovering…4 years later and counting. And I am so very grateful but I also feel the dark storm clouds of rage that I was handled so poorly by professionals and supposed caring experts that kept telling me to trust them and let them tell me how deal. The only saving graces I really had to help me heal were my parents…and birds. Neither of those living beings ever told me what to take or do with my body. I would just ask my parents to let me stay in their space, give me blessings, and quietly witness me regularly writhe about and struggle to mend. And the birds, I would just watch them in my back yard for hours, I’d listen to them sing, and hear the purr of their wings as they flew overhead. Thank you Doug for sharing this interview so beautifully - your voice is so finely woven. Thank you Melissa for so carefully and eloquently placing your pain at the table for us to observe and learn from. It does my heart glad that you feel vital again, even though I feel the pinch that you are still tied to the thornbush. I was so very lucky to break free of 3 medicinal poisons, but I have one more to go till I am truly wild and untethered. It’s slow going but I chose this path blessedly on my own this time…

I haven’t lived in Salt Lake since 2018 but I still listen to Radio West. I find Doug to be a skilled and thoughtful interviewer and I love the breadth of topics that the show covers. Additionally his voice is very calming to me. I don’t listen to every episode at this point but it’s still on my regular rotation of podcasts.

As the host, Doug consistently leads guests in the most insightful, meaningful conversations possible. I’ve recommended this podcast to others more than any other podcast I listen to. You’re a national treasure, Doug Fabrizio!

Doug Fabrizio and his team manage to always talk about prescient topics affecting the southwest, giving them ample time and consideration (although you usually want more). I’ve been a KUER sustainer for years just to support this show. Keep up the good work.

RADIOWEST has been a part of my podcasting life for over 15 years. The combination of Doug’s interviewing skills and the always interesting and relevant show topics make it one of my favorites.

I’ve been listening to RadioWest since I was a teen, over fifteen years ago. I remember carrying my radio around with me as I did summer chores listening to Doug interview authors about books. I think Doug helped me really get into reading and helped me learn to ask hard, critical questions. I moved away after college and could now longer listen on the radio, but by then I could listen to episodes online. I’ve listened in from California and now from Tokyo. I know someday Doug may give it up, but I hope that day doesn’t come for a long time. Thanks for all that work day in day out to make such a great show. This little review doesn’t do my gratitude justice, but I’ll head on over to KUER donations page now... 🥰

The only bad reviews are by mormons. Should they be listening Radio West anyway? I mean, is it even on the Approved reading/watching list from the brethren? Brothers and Sisters- you need to be more careful! Wouldn’t want you to hear an outsider perspective- could be detrimental to your salvation.

Experts are invited to the show and Doug (and co.) ask informed questions. I rarely hear a show where the expert/author doesn’t respond something like this, “Wow, thank you for so thoroughly and thoughtfully reading my book.” Doug doesn’t market for these authors, he educates his listeners as best as he can in 1 hour segments on a range of important issues. Truly grateful for every show that Radiowest produces. (P.s., listening from California!)

I adore this podcast because of Doug’s skillful interviewing, his open mindedness, and the broad range of topics covered. I have moved out of Utah but still listen because the topics are still relevant to me.

Fabrizio does his homework; the topics for the show are current and interesting and the ensuing conversation is more than superficial blather. Highly recommend.

I can’t get enough of this podcast. Doug is an amazing journalist, and has a gift for exploring the topics he chooses. I always learn so mucin and love the way he engages in real conversations with depth and respect, while still asking tough questions. So good.

I don't remember how I first learned about RadioWest. I've never lived with 500 miles of SLC. But Doug Fabrizio is a great, well-informed host who asks great questions and is good at asking questions from the point of view of an intelligent listener who doesn't know much about a subject. He even does that on subjects where he clearly knows the subject better than a large section of the listenership. I can't recommend this show highly enough.

Doug Fabrizio is consistently well prepared. He reads the books before interviewing the authors. He researches the issues before hosting a conversation. This is where people can find deep and wide conversations about anything and nearly everything that affects life in the Western United States. When I find someone who hasn't heard of the show, it's easy to turn them into a fan: I just tell them the latest thing I learned from the show and they're hooked.

Great pod! Covers a diverse range of topics in good detail. Interesting guests and host Doug is terrific. Would have given five stars but for the somewhat slanted coverage of the Mormon church. If you’re going to talk about the negative elements of the church, and you should, you should also talk about the good.

If you want a bigoted Mormonphobic podcast that’s anti-religion then this is the podcast for you.

This show is consistently good. I could do without the frequent focus on LDS church, but I understand that's a part of covering Utah. Doug Fabrizio is an excellent journalist. He has mostly really good topics, frequently of national interest with nationally-renowned guests. Doug comes to the interviews well-infromed and with good questions, and always runs am informative discussion. And he does it EVERY DAY. I'm impressed.

Doug Fabrizio has a knack for getting to the essence of any topic. After every podcast, I leave a better person. Plus, he has caused me to buy more books than I need. Thank you, Doug!
