Good stories and narration. The only slight downside is the host sometimes get's preachy. I'm here for the horror. Not a lecture or a window into the hosts personal beliefs.

Don’t listen to any deadbeats with “crypto” in their name. Listen to this podcast-you will love it!

Alastair is the consummate host of this astonishingly good series, that features not only the very best contemporary, classic, and public domain literary material of horror & the macabre featuring a wide & diverse array of authors of every possible stripe,; it is also the source of the most erudite commentary on the themes and morals of the stories featured. by the way? Also terrifying.

Still the best horror podcast out there

They need to find some better narration for some of the stories. They might be all good; but some voice acting is unbearable on this podcast.

This episode. Listen to it all the way through. The exhaustion felt by the host mirrors my exhaustion. My best friend, my grandma, and thousands I never met will be on my mind for the rest of my life because of the pandemic we are still recovering from.

Loved the umami of #869, intense and bold, with a lingering flavor, wanting more.

This show never fails to scare the heck out of me, and it’s narrated so beautifully. Every time I see a notification it makes me excited

In a way some are tales are gentle and horrific at he same time . I love how unique each story is on this podcast. Cool revenge with some others oops you took a wrong turn. My only wish was the stories be longer. As a woman I especially find these tales of horror satisfying. Hear a few and become hooked on this little know gem. Pass it on to a friend, they will thank you for these little gems.

People listen to horror stories to escape reality, not to hear a pretentious host moralize about George Floyd, capitalism, or the patriarchy. It’s gotten so bad that the horror stories seem to just be incidental to his condescending lectures. A real d-bag. In a world with 10,000 horror podcasts, there are plenty of other less preachy, better sounding options.

I’m not usually a horror fan. These stories grab my attention and give me something to think about. And the readers and narrators are topnotch.

This is a wonderful collection of new and classic horror read by talented voice actors. Having been disappointed by many other “scary” podcasts this one does the job in the best possible way. Warnings are given for topics that might be uncomfortable and you can glance over the text to see if it grabs you. The commentary is excellent.

I’ve been a listener for many years. The tales, talent, and hosts have been my companions in dark hours and dark corners from coast to coast. I love the atmosphere and Alister’s sincerity gives a genuine sense that we are actually all in it together. Perhaps a decoder ring is in order?

I am giving this podcast 5 stars despite the fact that there are many stories here that I’m not a fan of. But the writing is way above most scary podcasts. My tastes go toward spooky stories with more psychological scares than graphic ones. The spooky, eerie stories on this show are excellent. I also enjoy the host, Alastair Stuart. He is so sincere, and his trigger warnings that caution listeners to turn off the podcast if it is too disturbing (it is a horror show after all - why we need to be warned about this is a puzzle to me) are very clever. Thank you for a great podcast.

Most stories are pretty good. I’d recommend skipping the hosts intro and wrap up. He boo hoos about Trump a lot lol

Love the podcast but I will NEVER listen to another episode narrated by Lois Tate. She reads like she’s drunk and in need of antipsychotics. I wanted to finish the episode but, my god, it was torturous.

It’s almost inevitable given the size and scope of the podcast, but this podcast features some of the best horror content out there. The variable, but consistently skillful work of the authors and narrators involved is consistently delightful, and Stuart’s commentary always recontextualizes the works in interesting ways. I listened to the recommended best-of episodes on the Pseudopod website, which are great, but as I’ve started my listen-through “cover to cover,” I’m amazed by the nonexistent drop-off in quality. A must-listen for anyone who engages with horror as a genre in any way shape or form.

Mathematically speaking, you can’t succeed every time. And yet, Pseudopod does. A variety of stories, yet each a horror in its own way, with context to help hammer home the fear. I don’t know how they do it, but I hope they keep going for a long, long time.

A fantastic show, started listening more and more in 2020. If you seek a massive podcast library of horror, this is certainly a podcast for you.

The stories are great and well-produced. However, the blatant Leftist commentary ruins the podcast—unless that’s intended to increase the horror. The United States is divided enough already. We don’t need more vitriol from either side spewing their propaganda. Issues aren’t always black and white. We actually live in shades of gray. Stop the propagandizing and stick to the stories. 😡

This is definitely one of the better produced and curated short fiction podasts out there. The voice talent is consistently very good, and host Alasdair Stuart provides excelent, yet brief, context and analysis without encumbering the production. This is definitely one of my favorite shows I look forward to each week. Keep up the great work, Escape Artists, folks!

Pseudopod is the most consistently good horror fiction podcast out there. I’d go so far to say that it’s the best horror fiction magazine out there. Like any fiction endeavor, there are stories that don’t work for me, but there’s more than 50/year. There are far more hits than misses. This is my favorite podcast, bar none.

There is a huge variety of stories which means occasionally there is one that I can’t get into at all and occasionally there is one that I absolutely LOVE but all of them are very well produced and narrated.

Pseudopod has consistently put out high quality performances (not just readings) of classic, published, and unpublished horror fiction for a decade and half. At this point, they're in the running for one of the most consistently great publishers (let alone podcasts) of horror fiction currently operating. If you like horror, or even just well performed fiction in general, you can't go wrong.

Pseudopod lives (it's ALIVE!!!) in the continuum of media exploration of horror as that which is not borne of some external force or entity, e.g., the creature in the crypt, aliens from distant galaxies, exiled nether-region demon revenants for vengeance. In the words of The Stranger from 'High Plains Drifter', "It's what people know about themselves inside that makes 'em afraid." True horror gestates within; it is us.

The best horror fiction podcast, seriously shivers for your ears, with excellent audio production and thoughtful and careful curating. If you want horror and thiking about horror and deeper conversation about what horror is and could be, it's here. I think I'm in love.

I went all the back to episode 1. Currently have to listen to it in a web browser. Have like another hundred to go before I can use the pod players but have liked/loved the majority of the episodes I've heard.

One of the things I noticed over the past year of listening is that Pseudopod has a mix of new, modern horror along with horror from the “golden age” of the early-to-mid 1900s. The contrast in tone and language is interesting, and some of those old stories surprise me. Please keep it up!

I only just came across Pseudopod a week ago! I’ve been really satisfied with the half dozen episodes I’ve listened to and then today I just listened to “Teeth Long and Sharp as Blades” and I have to say I’m blown away. I will look for more of AC Wise’s work. I enjoy the “endcaps” at the end of the episodes. I love a creepy podcast, be it a drama series or short stories. I love Pseudopod and I’ve just become a supporter on Patreon. Keep up the great work! I appreciate it very much.

I just found out about this show, started back on episode 700 and I’ve been pleasantly surprised! The narration is top notch, and the stories are interesting and engaging. This was the first horror story podcast that I ever listened to. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been listening to pseudopod for years....13 or so, I believe, as I remember loving it back when I was still just a gothy teen. It was the first ever podcast I cared about listening to each week, and it’s still my go-to for long, lonely road trips or the traffic-laden commute. I take time off every once in awhile, but I always come back. Thank you for making this such an amazing and consistent presence in my life and the podcast universe!

I’ve been devouring this podcast steadily for the past two weeks. It’s great! I haven’t heard a bad story yet, and I never have to listen to a man’s voice or consume a man’s story if I don’t want to, there’s such a wide variety of women’s work and voices. (I never want to hear a man talk. Alasdair gets a pass.)

I’ve been listening to Pseudopod since painting my new house in 2012. It got me through what would have been quite tedious. I was so intrigued by this unusual, eerie story that took place in an undisclosed age of the past, in Japan, involving a man and a doll? A puppet? I don’t remember…but it was very good! If I wasn’t so busy keeping up with the weekly stories I’d go back and listen. Bonraku?? Anyway…the stories are always at least very good. Alasdair Stuart is a very special man-host. He brings every story into a context that stirs my intellect and my soul. He makes me think, makes me feel, engages with his listeners like the friend you’d want to sit by a fire with, maybe snowbound in a remote cliche cabin somewhere. His prose is as eloquent as the best stories. I was crushed when he got engaged and I’m a lesbian with A.D.D! I love this podcast.
