Uninformed Rants
Show is more (uninformed) opinion than fact. It keeps getting worse. I unsubscribed.

Some cheese with your whine...
kinda some good info in there but this sounds like your whiny friend that has a problem with everything. If you want it done your way, why don’t you go make your own camera and lens company… Not to mention the 15 minutes of trash up front. If you love whiny people, you will love this podcast, not for me.

Getting old
Like so many other recent reviewers, I’ve been listening to and getting value out of this podcast for years. But the schtick is getting old and, frankly, unbearable. Just read the news.

Go back to the “no name photo show”
The “no name photo show”was much more interesting. Also A LOT less commercials also.

Love this podcast
I have been listening to Sharky for years. I can’t seem to get enough of his wit, knowledge and style. This show offers in-depth insight into the industry as well different perspectives on photography. Sharky knows his stuff!

Some Interesting Content But Very Annoying Host
First of all, it’s amazing that this podcast has a 4.5 rating given how many negative reviews can be found. If you read those reviews you’ll hear the same things over and over - Sharky has a very annoying delivery, he loves the sound of his own voice, he has very strong bias that he repeats over and over, and he’s really full of himself. Hardly a show goes by without him reminding everyone that he was way ahead of the curve saying that Mirrorless is the future, that shooting film is dumb, and that Fuji camera are the best cameras out there. Oh, and let’s not forget that he loves to mention that he’s 6’4”, has big hands, and that he use to be a photojournalist. It all gets old very quickly. The annoying delivery and self-aggrandizement would be tolerable if the content was first rate, but sadly there’s too little content to stick with the show. Yes, he provides some good photo news, but there is way too much reporting on items that are less than valuable. And I haven’t even mentioned the fact that long ads make up a substantial part of the podcast. Given that there is some good content here, I have weathered the storm of Sharky annoyance, but I think it’s time for me to say goodbye to this mediocre and annoying podcast.

Too bad
I’d like the information it seems is being deliver here, but Sharkey’s obviously put on radio voice is too straining to listen too. Lighten up, and just talk. Bye bye.

A Great Find - Just Listen To Grow

Slow death?
The podcast used to be full of energy and frequent episodes (few years ago). Fast forward to now it appears Sharky maybe us having a gradual falling out with PetaPixel. Now just one show every 2-3 months. Something is up.

Infomercial for fujifilm
If you wanna hear a fujifilm infomercial, this podcast if for you. If you wanna hear a "Nikon is gonna die (because they don't give me stuff for free)" this is your podcast. If you wanna hear "Sony is God, only after fujifilm and Nikon is dead" then this is your podcast. If you wanna hear a leftist propaganda mixed with 'Fujifilm is the best because they give me free stuff and pay me to say so", then this is your podcast. I'm done with it

Good info, annoying delivery
It’s a shame: the PetaPixel podcast shares research, knowledge, and interesting information... but in such an incredibly caustic way that it’s impossible to listen to. The host probably has a nice voice, but his delivery was likely influenced by Cookie (and others) who hosted the “You Don’t Know Jack” video game series years ago. That highly sarcastic style was entertaining in a game because you only got a few seconds of it at a time; here it’s non-stop and annoying. This podcast might be helpful and even fun if the host would stop emulating a drunken stand-up comedian and just be himself instead.

The Best
Sharky gives the news and photo tips with straight talk. The humor is great and not over done. I listen to 5 photo podcast and this is the go to one I listen first. Update 03/29/2020...the cute stuff has gotten old. The ads are to long. The ads take up to much time. Just what it had been.

That’s enough!
After episode 334, I have decide to unsubscribe from this podcast. I have put up with this guy for several years, because the show was truly informative and newsworthy. More recently, episodes have been fewer and further between, totally exposing how obnoxious and opinionated this guy is. By now, all he does is advertising for his sponsors. No longer informative and/or newsworthy. That’s it, Sharky James.

Past its Prime
The jokes are old and lame, half the show is ads for sponsors, too many opinions not enough facts, very little industry news, and of course, you have to hear three tmes each show how he used to be a photojournalist. After all that, if you're still interested, it's definitely not twice a week. Three times this year, as f 3/26/20

Good overall, but disparaging toward film shooters
Overall this is a really informative and helpful podcast, but I've grown more and more irritated with the host's constant disparagement of film shooters (or "CFGs" as he calls them). His argument is that shooting film doesn't make sense because images are eventually scanned digitally. He also argues that the process of developing film is slow and expensive. He is completely missing the point. People shoot film for the aesthetic and the shooting experience. Of course digital is cheaper/easier/faster, but that doesn't make it better. The host is entitled to his opinions, but he alienates portions of his audience with these comments, not to mention insulting people's artistic integrity and their relationship with their craft. Photographers are allowed to choose their medium as they see fit without the host telling them they're wrong for doing so. I enjoy the podcast, but I really wish the host would tone down the film negativity (no pun intended).

Twice weekly? Nonsense. Twice a quarter maybe.

Impossible listen
Please change the host. I’d like to listen to the content but his delivery is like nails on a chalkboard. Can’t make it past a minute or two for any episode.

Very grating to listen to
I like Sharky, but his vocal delivery is so sing-song and over-the-top it makes each episode unbearable. It’s a shame because there is occasionally good content here. It’s like listening to a top 10 announcement that never ends, and shoots nails into your ears.

Too much opinion too little unbiased facts
Endless complaining about what host does not like. Tired of hearing about how bad film and mirrored cameras are.

Just not enjoyable anymore.
Too many ads and too much yelling. Just not a good way to start the day.

The Mirrorless Crusades
A comedian once described his favorite episode of Gilligan’s Island as the one in which the castaways *almost* get off the island, but then Gilligan screws it all up. If you described your favorite episode of this podcast as the one in which the host freestyles a several-minute hot take on why DSLRs are dead and mirrorless is the way of the future, same problem: it’s every episode. The novelty wears thin by the dozenth retelling, because each week’s mirrorless crusade isn’t much different from the one that went before or the one that will follow next week. The non mirrorless crusade content is great. It is. But it’s a tougher slog each week to endure another rerun of the sermon on the mirrorless mount.

Wildly varying intonation.
Tried listening to an episode for the first time this morning and could only make it halfway through. I really liked the content that I heard about but the host's intonation is insane. His voice is all over the vocal range and that's just in each sentence. Like I've seen a couple of others state below, it's like listening to a "radio voice" read to you non-stop; it's very tiring.

Informative but..
The whole show sounds like an intro or listing to Mr movie phone it’s hard to make it through the whole thing.

Just not something you can plan to listen to
Used to love to listen to a couple of times a week. These days your lucky to get a new podcast once a month. It’s been that way for six month I think or more. Very disappointing.

Great show for gearheads
But I’m not a damned gearhead.

Very informative
I always look forward to the new pod cast to come out. I enjoy listening to Sharky and he provides a lot of good information. He presents a professional pod cast that is easy to hear and the volume stays consistent from the beginning to the end.

Host Intonation Exhausting for Listening
I don’t mind ads and stuff. But, the way the host talks is really exhausting to listen to. Most Podcasts are kind of conversational (?), but his intonation makes his Podcasts many minutes of radio ads. By that, I mean he finishes his sentences while raising his voice. That is the way you want to talk when you hype something up for ads and announcements for a brief period of time. But, if you do that the whole time during Podcasts, it is really, really exhausting to listen to. The host should think about his intonation for the Podcasts...

King of hyperbole !
Sharky is an entertainer when it comes to this podcast . His snarky personality makes this podcast somewhat unique . However , it would be great if he would just move on from repeating over and over that mirrorless is the way to go. It’s safe to say that most photographers get that by now . Also, I think he should stop ripping on Leica . They are beautiful cameras and the company has a rich history . So what if it’s only the affluent that can afford Leica . Who said life was fair ? If you have time look up an episode BH (podcast)did on Leica learn and what it’s founder did that impacted many lives during WWII and holocaust . By the way , I don’t own a Leica . No way I could afford one , but if I could I would own one . Lastly, overall the podcast is good not great, but I listen to it whenever new episode comes out .

Good info, but Unsubbed
There is good info on this podcast, but way too many ads for my taste and listening to Sharky yell for an hour gets tiresome. Had to unsub!

Hard to listen
The info is good but it’s like listening to a bar mitzvah DJ talk about cameras for an hour.

Lower breath but don’t remove them
Stop shouting. Take your time with the stories and just stop yelling through everything. Have a conversation with your listeners. I tried listen to the latest episode in the morning, nope, it screws with my calm.

Breathe Mike! Y'gotta Breathe!
Mike "Sharky" James is excellent as a host. His snark, pacing and informative nature make it an easy read. But here's the "but". They edit out all of the breathing to the point where the listener never gets a breather either. At the end I feel exhausted. Informed, but exhausted. Mr. James, the listener needs to breathe too. Pauses and brief moments of silence are actually incredibly powerful and healthy. Please breathe Mr. James. Breathe! Y'gotta breathe Mike! Code blue!

Entertaining and informative Photo Pod Cast
I enjoy the Peta Pixel photography podcast Sharky James is very informative and entertaining in this photo news pod cast. However, episodes are coming out less frequently. The description on the website says that it is a twice weekly podcast and more recently a new episode comes out about once a week to sometimes a week and a half. This podcast is a joy to listen too but it is disapointing that episodes are coming out less frequently.

Regurgitation of the web page news
I listened to this for awhile and finally unsubscribed. Comes off a over produced with too much ad content to news ratio. Most of the podcast is simply an audio verion of the website. I also found his humer to be a bit tiresome.

Confused political agenda
A shame that a knowledgeable podcaster can't separate his liberal bias from the selection of some of his content.

Awesome Podcast!!
Mike, host of the PetaPixel Photography podcast, highlights all aspects of photography and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!
Brooke Craven
Questions Ignored
Tells people to call or write with their questions yet when asked they are ignored. Nothing of use to help with photography, was basically a glorified commerical on what equipment to buy, nothing on how to use it. Complete waste of time

I’m not impressed
The content is really boring; it’s little more than a rehashing of stories you can find on twitter.

Fun, wit and insightful commentary about all things photography
Sharky is a great host who is quite knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor and insight about what’s going on in the world of photography. Oftentimes I find myself rewinding to rehear snippets because his wording is smart and witty worthy of another listen. His personal commentaries about issues and topics are insightful to make this podcast not merely informational but also thought provoking—whether it be about the ridiculous cost of gear and why anyone would need it to ethics issues in photography as well.

The narration is so stressful.
The content is very good but the narration is so stressful I can’t listen to it more than 10 mins.

One of the best
I think the PetaPixel photography podcast is one of the best out there. Sharky delivers the show like a professional news personality. Most podcasts (by non-professionals) are more conversational and un-polished (which is perfectly acceptable), but this one is well-planned, interesting, and hold your interest with an engaging voice.

Love hate relationship
When this podcast first came out I loved it. I was able to get my photography news with a little bit of humor. I really, really enjoyed it. Then it seemed to transform into a platform for Sharky to complain about his favorite brands. Seemed like the more he liked the brand the more he complained about it. Adobe and Nikon seem to take the blunt. I had to unsubscribe because it got to be more complaining than news. I occasionally will download an episode to give it another chance but haven’t subscribed yet. I guess you don’t have to shoot film to be cranky. Lol
