I have listened to your show for more than 30 years, back when Dr Paul Meier hosted it. I have learned so much about taking care of my mental health and that of my family. I have spent many hours either on the road or doing housework with the show on. I do have a few gripes. First is that the content of the show has changed over the years from the primary subject of mental disorders to the topic of porn. Although I know this is a huge problem, there are times that I turn it off to not have to hear one more depressing story about a husband addicted to it. Second, there is a tendency to “blame the victim” by saying things like “You have allowed this behavior by not setting boundaries”. Steve A is a major culprit, not seeming to realize that the person would not be asking advice if they knew what they were supposed to do. This is especially painful to hear in abuse cases. And third, there is Sheri K who often talks in a very condescending way. Eg Today, this poor women called because her daughter had physically attacked her 20 years prior as a teen. Mom wanted an apology. The daughter had accused mom of running toward her so she scratched her face up. Mom hadn’t done that. Then the daughter had been in trouble with the police and went in the shower when her mom confronted her about it. Because the daughter ignored her, she opened the curtain. Not a good move, but not surprising since mom was angry. The daughter slapped her. Sheri was all over mom telling her if she expected an apology, she would not get her daughters heart. Well guess what, she never will anyway. The daughter sounds like she was a class A brat, and still is. There is no justification for her abuse, which was way worse than what the mom did. I wonder if Sheri has ever dealt with an out of control teen. I had to turn it off when she started berating the mom on the air. Geez. The other counselors need to shut her down. The mom needed some encouragement with a kid like that and the kid needed some major help. I can’t imagine how she treats her own kids. So it’s a good show, just needs a little more discretion and some training for the older counselors who have forgotten how to be polite.

I love listening to the daily podcast episodes, I learn so much about life, the brain, how were affected by trauma and others, and they are some of the most gentle and wise counselors I have heard on the radio. The grace, compassion, empathy and truth NL provides ought to be heard by all ministry and pastoral leaders. I will continue to recommend NL to all people!

I learn something new or reinforce previously learned truths about healthy relating every time I listen to this show. If you’re going through a hard time or are struggling with a relationship or an addiction, New Life Live is the podcast to listen to. They’ve been a HUGE support and I can’t recommend them enough. Love these guys!

I listened to your advice from a lady in Tulsa Ok on your 5/27/21 podcast and you gave the worst advice. This lady was humble and tried doing everything to have a relationship with her two children and you all flipped it on her. I have listened to you for years and have always liked your advice. The lady tried to speak to you about her conservatism and you immediately cut her off. I think you are part of the cancel culture and are afraid to lose your liberal listeners especially since you are in California. You did a total disservice to this lady. Maybe she has two narcissistic children that are entitled just like a lot of the younger generation! You didn’t offer any of this as a suggestion. I say speak the truth. The lady lost two husbands. What about some empathy for her! You gave her none. You owe her an apology. I take this to heart because I have a narcissistic son who turned on me despite me doing everything for him. You gave BAD ADVICE!

It was so cool to listen to the podcast and hear Dr. Ron Archer hosting the show. I love to hear Ron’s testimony because it sounds so much like mine. Plus his counsel is spot on for what God is saying to me right now. Not to mention his voice makes him so easy to listen to. Thanks for the show I get so much just by listening.

Granted I not made a great effort to listen to Christian programming, I do a make an effort to listen to New Life. While I am not Christian myself, even I could appreciate the combined experience and knowledge that only years of personal and professional experience the hosts share. New Life Live is an hour call-in show with a revolving set of 3 Christian-inspired psychologists and counselors. With a combined foundation on secular counseling and Christian ethics, they provide all matter of advice to callers with questions that range from Biblical hermeneutics to problems in personal relations. I has an incredible appeal - between almost comical calls of people who are obviously off their medications to more somber calls that deal with incredible grief, they always offer great advice and answer to some incredibly difficult problems. There is one MAJOR problem - they still acknowledge that homosexuality and other sexual orientations as a sin and something to be avoided. Callers with problems revolving LGBTQ carefully sidestepped most of the time and answers left up to the callers, like “Should I attend the same-sex wedding of a relative?”. In the question regarding the origins of LGBTQ, they seem to tie it to some form of neglect or abuse that needs further counseling. Other than the aforementioned, it’s a great show. You may not ever have problems as some of the callers, the soundness and consistency will leave an incredible impression be you Christian or not. From relationships as close as those we married and distant as those who live across the world - New Live has timely and inspired advice and answers for everyone.

I’ve been listening to New Life Live since the Minerith Meyer Days. I haven’t missed an episode in well over a decade. The advice given has often helped me help others as well as applying to my own life. Thank you for your ministry! I love Steve’s sense of humor and knowledge, Milan’s wisdom and knowledge, Jill’s common sense and knowledge Sheri’s down to earth love and knowledge, Henry’s life experience and knowledge, Chris’s easy going professionalism and knowledge, and Alice’s eagerness, passion and knowledge. I’ve never played the lottery, but often think about giving it a whirl, because if I won, I would finance your wonderful mission and hopefully take the time that Larry spends on air fund-raising and replace it with reaching out to the hurting. Please reconsider using your platform to promote your friends that have written books or are self promoting. It really takes away from your real ministry. Max Lucado, Joyce Meyer and others have their own platforms to sell their wares. If you’re not taking callers, people/listeners go without help. They just receive an unsolicited sales pitch to purchase a latest book or sign up for the Townsend institute. (I get it. John Townsend had contributed a lot to your ministry.)

I’ve listened to New Life Live for well over ten years now (even though I no longer attend church). For those who complain about advertising, how you do think they’ve been on for as long as they have? Honestly, I still listen for free and it’s been a huge blessing. I am not married but the marital issues I hear about on this show has helped me learn what to look for and how to handle certain dating situations, for instance. I think New Life Live is what American relationships (ALL kinds) need right now.

I listened to this podcast years and years ago on the radio, and I used to love it. Over time, though, New Life has evolved into a large organization offering many workshops and seminars. Increasingly, when someone calls into NLL, the hosts' answer is "Go to our workshop." I can always predict their answers. "I have a problem with infidelity." Go to Every Man's Battle. "My husband doesn't treat me well." Go to the Intimacy Intensive. It seems less like a counseling show now, and more like a series of advertisements.

I’ve been a listener and loyal supporter of New Life Ministries for years. During one of the roughest patches of my life, I religiously listened to their show, followed their advice, and even shared it with others. So much so, that NLM inspired me to launch my own podcast to help Christian men called Real Men Connect. Even though, I’m not as nearly as smart as the experts Steve has on his show (and I love all of them), I now look for the best Christian experts to bring on my show. The hosts of New Life have become like a part of my family. Each brings his or her own unique gift and style to the matter at hand and, even when I have not faced the particular issue presented by a caller, I am left feeling better equipped to manage life. I listen to them on KKLA, but since I am moving back to the bay area I'm a bit sad that I won't get to listen to them on the same station, so I am happy that I can get the podcasts. They are really an inspiration.

Listen to New Life for one year and as a lay counselor you will be more prepared to help others than you can believe. That is the advice I gave our church help ministry in 1997 and still do today. Back then we would download the show from the Internet and pass around CD's. Now everyone can get it on iTunes. What an awesome God we serve. The technology used for His Kingdom.

This is so refreshing and relaxing to listen to, and helpful as well. It's great to hear real people, talking normally instead of giving sermons, and being really honest about life and how hard some of it is, big and little stuff - and talking about realistic ways to deal with it.
