Great content
Loved hearing from friends and family!

Just sad.
I listen to a lot of podcast and look for actual research, but this one had actual research. Just exploited it from family members and then lied on the podcast.

Respectful, thorough, important
This podcast does a great job presenting the case from an outsider perspective. The reporting is well researched and in depth. Definitely worth a listen.

trash
exploiting a family gross.

Disappointed
Podcast was initially good and well put together. However, the rant on gun control is pitiful. Why?!?! Keep your personal ideals out of the podcast.

Horrible
You should be ashamed of taking someone else pain for your on gain! Shame on you! Justice for Alyssa and Sarah!

heartbreaking
you’re really unkind to harass the family member of a mutter victim for money. that really is awful. i hope you find the inner peace you so desperately need 😞

Do not support
Please do your research , this woman is a terrible person. Exploiting a family for her own gain. Gross

Great, until the bonus episode where you get political
Podcast was great and well put together and nicely narrated. However, didn’t care for the lecture on the supposed, gun show loopholes. Why can’t a good podcast just say that, a good podcast? Add the political, and you’ll lose my recommendation to anyone else. Oh well.

Do your research
I encourage you all do you your research in how poorly the creator of this podcast, Ottavia Zappala, has treated the victim of this series, Alissa Turney’s sister, Alissa. She has completely exploited this case and Sarah Turney.

Honestly it’s the voice..
I couldn’t get through an episode. The hosts voice has an incredibly grating whine and unnatural accent to it and it’s painfully obvious she’s reading off of a script like it’s a middle school English class, linstead of being personable and actually caring about the subject. Can’t and won’t finish.

Exploitation
Octavio is truly a morale-less person. She is exploitative and has used this poor girls story as a way to get notoriety for herself, while also standing in the way of investigation. Keeping files from the family over personal beef? Proof mean girls grow up and stay mean girls who put their noses in business they shouldn’t. True crime can be done well and truly help the families - this is not one of those cases. Listen to any of the other podcasts. I hope she feels real shame and no peace.

Great podcast about Alissa!
Such a fabulous podcast. It is worth the listen. A few times. Thank you so much for your professionalism. #truecrime

Mispronunciation is the way…
I just CAN’T with this podcaster. She mispronounces every 5th word. Basic, easy words. It’s absolutely maddening. SO hard to listen to.

Stop harassing this family
You really do not need to continue this podcast

Great Podcast!
Love this podcast and I hope the host will do more. The content itself was great it terms of how the story was told. She also has a great speaking voice so it makes the podcast more enjoyable. There are a few podcasts I could not finish because I couldn’t listen to the voice any longer or the way the stories were told. Such a sad case, I had not heard about this. As sad as it is, I’m glad people will know about this young girl and who she was. That she existed in the world. I hope one day she can be found and laid to rest.

Music choice
Yeah no I gave up on your podcast the music is irritating to no end.

Stop using others pain to line your pocket
If you’re going to talk about something as sensitive as this, the family should always be involved. If the family doesn’t want be involved, the. You shouldn’t make the content. Lining your pockets from the pain of others is despicable.

Very well told!!
You’ve done a great job of taking us through the case. Fantastic reasearch too. I feel like I’m sitting room with you. Added bonus, you have a voice that’s pleasant to listen too. I’ve not listened to podcasts if the voice was off putting to me or if you can tell they are reading a script. Highly recommend!!!

Love the story
I’m invested in the outcome of this case and truly hoping that Alyssa is found & that he faces Justice. The way he refuses accountability for everything is incredibly frustrating.

Great job!
I didn’t love the back ground music but I follow Sara T and her sister’s case. It was nice to hear you do this pod cast from an outsiders perspective!

Great job!
You’re a strong, intelligent woman and I’m so glad you covered this podcast!

Still waiting for Michael Turney trial date
Yes that nut job was arrested in 2020 for Alissa’s murder. This podcast was a nice add-on to Sarah’s Voices For Justice. What’s upsetting for me as a parent is all the people who knew, saw, heard about the abuse of Alissa and didn’t do anything.

Pretty good
Solid information. Your information on the “gun show loophole” is pretty misleading though. You cannot buy a gun online and avoid a background check. If you’ve ever been to a gun show, all sellers run background checks. Your issue is with private sale of guns from a person to person which is only legal if both individuals live in the same state. There also is no way for the government to regulate private sales of guns due to the inherent, private nature of the sale. Can the government regulate the private sale of cars? No. Same idea.

LISTEN and HELP!
This podcast was riveting. I feel devastated for this young girl, who was most likely verbally and sexually abused and later murdered by her narcissistic step-father. My heart wept for her. I hope she is in peace now with her Mother.

VERY In-depth
And very well done. Interviews with family, friends, police, attorneys, and info from listeners all combine to give a good look at the case of Alissa Turney’s disappearance. Just don’t look for the Facebook page, as it no longer exists.

Arrest update?
Michael was charged for this crime 4 months ago! I’m very surprised we haven’t had any kind of update.

Good, Has a Few Problems
I will start off by saying that I prefer narrative-style true crime podcasts to those with interviews, and this one is not that. This isn't a bad podcast, but something about the narration and interviews did not pull me in the way other podcasts have done. The topic is definitely interesting (and very sad). I don't know if the issue is with the recording, which isn't always the best quality and can make it difficult to hear, or with the plethora of interviews, or if it's just something else - maybe too many episodes? Could this have been done with as much justice but in fewer episodes? I think it's a good listen, but isn't something I'd go overboard about. I do appreciate the updates.

Change of Heart
I Initially gave this podcast a poor review & 1 Star after listening to only 3 episodes & I now realize that I spoke to soon. After listening to more episodes I realized my initial criticism was unfounded. While the podcast initially focused much of its energy on Alissa’s stepfather & info on him that I thought irrelevant to the case, the more episodes I listened to I heard more facts & details about the case. Because of this I have completely deleted my old review & written this new one. I’m now very interested in this podcast & look forward to seeing how this case turns out. As for the listeners who criticized the narrator’s grammar & pronunciation they make a valid point. Obviously English is not her first language, but despite that I think she is rather articulate.

Highly Subjective Reporting
Am I the only one who saw the subjective reporting here? In the bonus episode #5 Confrontation, the host says that Michael was going around in circles, but that's not how I heard it. He sounded really frustrated and was quite forthcoming about his own mental health issues. I don't know him but if I'm a reporter, I would approach it with an open mind and allow him to say his story, rather than bombard him with closed-ended questions that he's probably heard a thousand times and that clearly didn't yield anything beside frustrate him. I was eager to hear what he had to say, but that was the episode that made me question the legitimacy of the entire report. I think she botched her own investigation in that single call with him and I'm now personally curious about what would have said had be been approached by a proper reporter who presented him with open ended prompts and allowed him to speak, rather than get defensive and argumentative. FFS no wonder he shut down and laughed! Also, turn that background music down! It isn't background music when you can't hear the voices over it. That's my two cents about it. But what do I know? I'm only a psychologist and a behavior analyst.

I love the follow ups!
I just now stumbled on this podcast and devoured it in less than a week! The host does a really great job telling the circumstances surrounding Alissa’s disappearance with empathy and compassion. I really loved that she followed up with critical people in the inner circle after the podcast launched, including the primary suspect. Now that there is movement on the case, I really hope she does a follow up episode(s)!

Interesting
Interesting, but so many grammatical errors it’s distracting. Repetitive. I prefer podcasts with longer episodes.

Music
The podcast would really benefit from less distracting background music. Important story to tell.
Tea787
Very interesting
Interesting podcast. Decided to listen to it all in one sitting. The background music is odd...but doesn’t take away from the content.
JenOx79
Engrossing
On the bonus episodes now. Touching.

Bad treatment of survivors
I wish a trauma sensitive expert in domestic violence covered this story. The ignorance and insensitivity of some of the questions asked to some of the survivors was disappointing, in particular the shooting survivor.

Music is distracting!!! I really tried to listen to your podcast !!! I couldn’t make it past episode one

This story is heartbreaking but the music...
This story needs more attention than it has gotten but the presentation here is hard to follow, especially with the music. The music hurts the presentation far more than helping it. It hurts it so much so that I am getting frustrated and want to stop listening.
bigbunny323
Great job!
Ottavia thank you for bringing more attention to Alissa’s case and for your sensitivity in the way you presented some of the difficult details of her life. My prayers are that they find her so the family can have closure. Please continue to bring us content on this and other missing persons cases.

Great Work
I'm very interested in Alissa's case and have been listening to everything I can that has to do with it. I hope there is more progress in the case soon ❤️ you did an amazing job getting all the information together!

Host needs to slow down
Good story but hard to listen to after awhile. Host needs to slow her talking down a little. Maybe not sound like she is just reading a script super fast.

Host and production are brutal
So dry and boring

Amazing!!

Great job
I think this podcast has been greatly done. I appreciate you trying to help this family & all of the hard work you’ve put into it. I hope Alissa will be found soon & Mike will face the justice he deserves!

Turn it down!!
PLEASE turn the music down! Very informative though!

This girl deserves justice
Great podcast. Even better is alissas sister perusing justice and bringing awareness to a case that could easily be swept under the rug.

Music was so loud, slow, redundant and distracting
The music got to me. It was so annoying and made me cringe every time it came on (which was far too often, unfortunately). The story is heartbreaking but the presentation of the story was painfully redundant. I felt like details were repeated over and over in each episode and I could only make it through about half of the episodes because it was so slow moving and the music put me to sleep.
