Listened to first episode and...
The handmaids tale is so brilliant. Literally every aspect of it. I’ve never seen a more empowering show as a woman. It shows that no matter what’s happening in the world, it can’t tear us down. I want to hear people who appreciate the show and the brilliance of it. I agree with the other reviewers that you guys really don’t have enough appreciation/passion for the show and the story and the larger lessons it is teaching us. Ps: in my opinion, this is the most binge worthy show. I also do not like the show walking dead or any other “dark” shows. I think me and my opinions just differ so much from these ladies that I don’t find it enjoyable. I want a much more deeper analysis and to talk about how our society and parts of it relate to Gilead. Because it is an exaggerated version of our world. You almost talk about it like the people who wrote or created this story are bad instead of looking into the concepts that are “bad”

Listening on max volume still isn’t loud enough
I really like the podcast, but do you ever listen to the podcast after you have recorded? I have to put my volume on max and it still isn’t loud enough. It sounds like the microphone is here but you are sitting soooooooo far away from it. I want to keep listening but I can never hear anything while I’m on the train commuting.

The Testaments
Hello - I just started listening to the audio book today. I love that they have 3 narrators for the characters. As I finish the chapters I’m listening to your recap. I recommend you listen to audio book! :)

What show is this about?
First 20min of MAYDAY episode is nonsense babbling, thought I put on wrong podcast. Then followed by a 5min justification that they aren't corporate run like other podcasts they dont have to discuss THT if they dont want cause you dont have to listen. Maybe not a good impression to get listeners for your podcast cause thats why I put it on theres so much to discuss! gonna try fast forwarding through their rambling for substance. I don't mind when podcasts stray on discussion but its nonsense not interesting.

Muffins all the way to this podcast!!
I really enjoy listening to Justin, Tiana and Sarah! They do a great job of breaking down and discussing the episodes. I don’t understand why people are so bitter about them going off topic. I like when they talk about personal stories or narwhals lol Thanks for a great podcast!!

One man summarize, mansplains, and (wrongly) corrects his female cohosts
Why would anyone listen to any podcast, nevermind a Handmaids Tale podcast where a man dominates, talks over and ‘mansplains’ the episodes to two women the entire time?! Anytime one of the two female hosts tries to interject he talks over them or negates their idea, comment, or theory. At one point one thought he did agree because he nodded and he replied “sorry I was just nodding, not listening- I’m married and used to nodding remember”- completely negating and disrespecting the co-host. Another time one of the female cohosts FINALLY interrupts the boring episode summary to interject how brainwashed the children and ‘’marthas’ and be again negates this theory even though this is such an obvious theme throughout the show. Instead he says “No, see this as a plausible, real prayer”. What?! Because it happens to resonate in him it is the first “real” prayer on the shower and not an example of religious brainwashing (he talked over the cohost at this point to). Even the pronunciation Mika Brzezinski is a argument because the male host pronounced it as Mica (the mineral) and one of the female cohosts corrects him with the CORRECT spelling and he says NO it pronounced MICA I LOOKED IT UP and the female cohosts backs down saying okay - guess who is correct? The female cohost!!!!! How is that possible if he looked up how to pronounce it to the point to correct his own cohost?! The entire episode is like this, a real life example of a man just assuming his ideas and voice are more important, and correct than anyone else’s, esp his female cohosts. Hard pass- there are MANY more podcasts to listen to with thought provoking discussions and hosts that do real research and discuss theories respectfully with one another. I would rather not support this host every again.

Use to be 5 Stars.... now 1.
I loved this podcast, but no more. Don’t do a podcast if you did not watch the show. And I am here to hear about Handmaids take not Joey Lawrence or Narwhals. One should not have the sit through an hour of bad commentary for 15min of show talk..

Turn your phones on silent please!
I really like this pod, but please, hosts, turn your phones on silent while podcasting! The last episode was littered with dings and other notification sounds. Super tacky on an otherwise enjoyable podcast. Please fix this and I’m looking forward to hearing you guys more in the future!

Perfect Podcast Companion for the Show!
I just discovered this podcast as I recently just started and binged Handmaid's tale. Whenever I wasn't watching the show, I was listening to this one and it is awesome and excellent. The hosts give great insight and discussion about my new favorite TV Show. HIGHLY RECCOMEND!

I love this podcast
This is one of my favorite Handmaid’s Tale Podcast. May even be my first because of the of the laughter on Red all Over... Justin, Tiana, and Sarah are great. I miss all three of them being there but it’s still a great podcast. They are funny and I love to hear their take on each episode.

Stop the side conversations!
Wish they would just stay on topic and cover the show. All the side conversations they have is so annoying! And they go on forever! I appreciate their actual thoughts on the show, and need to stick to that! Stop talking about all your other stuff. This isn’t you guys out at brunch catching up.

Could do without some of the comments
I really liked this podcast when it started. I like the humor, I like the overview of the shows episodes, and I like the different opinions (when there are more than two people talking). However, I can not give a rating above three stars and I will tell you why. Please, for Pete’s sake, STOP making so many political comments. Not all of your listeners are Democrats. I really dislike some of the comments made, especially in recent episodes, where apparently Republicans are akin to Gilead enthusiasts. So... all Republicans think that people crossing over the border shouldn’t have their children??? Excuse me??? No. Republicans want immigrants to come over, but LEGALLY. Or truthfully to come over if they need the asylum. Republicans do not want people coming over with children that aren’t even theirs to begin with and then illegally enter the country without any regard to the system in place to house them. This is not the same as Gilead’s people who think only certain people get to keep their babies. Please do more research before you start spewing incorrect assumptions based off something you obviously heard from the media- which frankly can not be trusted. That being said, it is a good podcast at it’s core. I like the way they go over the episodes and the humor from Justin is what pushes it along for me. But please please please get rid of the political snarky comments. Thank you

Excellent perspectives
I love this well-rounded podcast! It is so nice to hear the perspective of several women (including a mother) and a man! I love the friendships and thoughtful, introspective noticings! Truly my favorite podcast!

Great podcast
Great podcast, great commentary & recap. This does a good job of keeping me occupied in between episodes. I particularly LOVE interviews with people on the show. I do gravitate to the ladies’ voices, personalities, and humor. The male host is a bit too matter of fact for me. I only took off a couple stars because I’m not a fan of the off-topic remarks like books, music, and narwals. Also not fond of the “background noise” in certain episodes (s3 ep7). I totally understand life happens but I’d prefer giving someone a day off from the podcast, rather than calling in with all the background noise. The podcast will still go on.

Just get to the recap
I used to really like this show when it was about recapping the actual episodes. Now, it’s two hours of filler and lame jokes and stories. Justin loves to toot his own horn and laugh at his own (not funny) jokes and it’s just unnecessary. Also, instead of doing a recap from the car with awful audio, take the week off.

Getting tired?
For the past few weeks at least one of the hosts has not watched the episode. Advice, don’t tell your audience that! If you don’t care enough to watch, why should we care enough to listen? Seems like you are all extremely busy, and I get that, but lack of preparedness diminishes the show.

Gave it a shot despite all the other one-star reviews
Having already listened to Red All Over (so far my favorite, in spite of the too-long and too-loud laughter) and Blessed Be the Fruit Salad (second runner up only because of the one girl’s constant snorting), I decided to give Mayday a try despite reading the mostly-negative reviews. Only a few minutes into the episode 7 discussion, I see what the other reviewers mean when they say that they must not watch the entire episodes, or skim thru them at least. One of them admittedly hasn’t watched at all and the guy is describing it to her and she’s like “Really?? *gasp*” Lots of off-topic tangents. But really the most annoying detail was the one woman who sounded like she was podcasting from inside a bathroom. That’s the only way I can think of to describe it. Super echo-y acoustics with her voice. Also the guy has what sounds like a very young child babbling and singing in the background. Really distracting and ultimately rendered this episode un-listenable for me. Unsubscribing.

It’s ok when everyone who hosts has watched
If you have not watched the episode, please do not appear on a podcast about the episode. What is the point?!

So inaccurate
It’s getting so much harder to find a reliable Handmaid Podcast that posts weekly, so I’ve been listening to MAYDAY and Red All Over. I’m officially dropping MAYDAY. These hosts clearly don’t watch the show or pay attention at all. They never have correct character names, they’re constantly getting key plot points wrong, and just seem to never know what character said which line. It’s getting to the point where every time I listen I’m constantly correcting almost all the info they give in my head, which is irritating. Not to mention the long off topic tangents. The sad thing is that this was my go-to podcast for the first 2 seasons. I LOVED it! You can tell they don’t care anymore, and y’all should really just stop at this point.

Off topic
They certainly seem like nice people, but I’m listening to this podcast for some hard hitting Handmaids Tale discussion. It takes forever to even get to that point, and they easily get off topic. I am moving on.
doingagoodjob
So far off topic
20 minutes into my first listen and they’re talking about Joey Lawrence, Narwals and Kids Books? What? I’m so frustrated trying to find solid Handmaid’s Tale content.
Corstew91
Really disappointed
This show used to be alright, but with this new season it has completely fallen off. The main host literally didn't watch episode 4 before discussing it, and they spent 20 minutes rambling about narwhals. The hosts keep talking about how much happier they are since they did a HMT detox and that they don’t really care about the show, which to me just means they should quit. What is the point of doing something half assed and barely meeting the standards of content discussion? I couldn’t get through the episode 4 discussion, I do not recommend this season.

One of the hosts didn’t watch the show?
Just tuned in for the first time. I don’t understand how you can be on a recap podcast and have not seen the episode. I thought the other two hosts would just take the lead but he talked more than any of them.

This fell of a cliff
This has never been a spectacular podcast, but amazingly it's gotten worse. It's not even about The Handmaid's Tale anymore. It's just a bunch of boring people talking about narwhals. I'm not kidding. I really miss The Red Center. Update 6/13: I gave it another try and 19 minutes in they are still talking about narwhals and John Oliver. I can't imagine why anyone on earth would want to listen to this. Bye.

Bummed
I really enjoyed the insight offered during the first couple of seasons and recommended this podcast to friends! However, I just stopped the first episode of season 3 after 45 min and can’t listen anymore. A recap/deep dive into a show needs to be accurate, mention correct character names, and have more thoughtful conversation/direction. Too many folks talking and there is a lot of man-splaining... which seems ironic considering the show they discuss?

Too much rambling
Gather round while someone mainsplains the show! I can’t listen to this podcast anymore. So much chatter about stuff not related to the show and honestly I’m not tuning in for that. It’s like being the 5th wheel in an awkward conversation.

Stick with the topic!!
I tried. I really did. The Handmaids Tale is my favorite show. The whole going off on tangents was killing me. Please stick with the episodes and stop going off on random conversations.

So happy you are back
You are the best Handmaid’s Tale podcast - period. I’m glad you are back, sounds like that may have been a tough decision? Peace of mind, your fans are relieved!

Funny but need to work on production
I enjoy the content and the banter between the hosts. However, they have GOT to modulate their voices for producing a podcast. They trail off when speaking and I can’t understand probably 25% of what they say. What I hear I like, but disappointed that it’s not more professionally presented.

On point, funny and pleasant to listen to
I just started getting into the show and was so excited to find this podcast. Some of the others I tried just aren’t pleasant to listen to. I love that this podcast stays on topic most of the time, but has just enough non-related commentary sprinkled in to keep it interesting. Great job, I am a stay at home mom and This podcast has gotten me through so many loads of laundry and carpool lines!!!
DeniseMarie916
Fix audio
I love the handmaids tale and really wanted to love this podcast but while listening on headphones (which is how I listen to most pods) it actually hurts my ears because the sound isn’t regulated. Some people sound like they’re whispering and some are talking very loud so it’s hard to find a good volume that’s comfortable to listen to.
Alipp17
Could be handled better
I’m glad the panel includes both male and females voices for diverse opinions but this show needs a female lead. Male panelists are a great compliment to this specific show but a male host makes zero sense and it actually pisses me off. Is that the point? What gives...
Beek29
Love this podcast! Do more!!
I love this podcast and of late have been obsessed with it! thank you for having such a diverse crop of hosts to discuss every perspective of the show from race to feminist views! Justin tends to cut off some of the hosts but I still enjoy his commentary as a male perspective! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do podcasts of other shows! They have such great commentary and with this being one of my favorite shows I would love to hear their opinions on other hard and controversial shows while the handmaid’s tale is off (Or other Atwood work like Alias Grace!)

Missing plot points
A lot of digression and going off at tangents at times and in the reviews of S2E01-03, they completely missed two interesting points (1) when June compiles her "Gilead dossier" while at The Globe - the newspaper collage and listens to the SOJ tape and (2) the flashback when she returns home after the hospital with Hannah and the DC attacks are in progress. Otherwise, good but, please a little less OT chit chat during the reviews.

I am giving you 5 stars because your content is good. However, PLEASE do something about Justin’s VOCAL FRY, it is so annoying.

Frustrating analysis ...
So many problems with this podcast. This podcast gets more access to actors and writers involved with the show than any other THT podcast and yet they still routinely bring up theories that those involved with the show have completely debunked. They consistently miss details in each episode (or are just flat out wrong sometimes) and don’t to any background research on historic and current events that inspire the story of The Handmaid’s Tale. Overall they sound unprepared in their episode recaps and their analysis of the show is very shallow. I initially was really interested in this podcast since there was a male co-host, but unfortunately the more I hear from Justin the less I like him. He’s made more than a few boneheaded comments on what he thinks women experience in the real world and gets pretty defensive when his female co-hosts push back and try to set him straight. This alone has pretty much turned me off this particular podcast in general. I really hope other, more deserving podcasts get more access to the show’s cast and crew next season. There are several other podcasts that put a lot of effort into watching and analyzing the show and deserve to be able to interview the show’s cast/writing team.

Often Frustrated
I hate to give not a positive review, but I find myself often frustrated that they always are saying “I couldn’t figure out what they were saying” - I guess because they watch early they can’t get subtitles? But the amount of things they get wrong when they recap makes it hard for me to stay invested in this podcast. It’s now endless “tell us on twitters” which I also don’t know why the host puts an s at the end of every social media, but I don’t want to listen to a podcast that I feel like is always in constant need of correction. They also might have too many people that they talk over each other a lot.

Like. Like. Like. Like.
I made an attempt to listen but ten minutes in I had to call it quits. Just can’t take an hour, let alone a season or two, of anyone inappropriately dropping the word “like” into to basic conversation as much as these hosts do. Irritating and distracting.
tmp8721
Eh...
I am gonna give a 5star review because Justin and Sarah deserve it; but Tiana’s opinions are never based on facts. Simple things like looking up to see if it was a scripture or a book quote is super simple .... or like if you didn’t do the research just maybe not say anything. Her character reads are generally completely off base and a Justin and Sarah try to like bring it back to making sense and being like “well maybe”. I don’t see the value Tiana is bringing to the table. I’m gonna try to hang in there since I love the rest of the cast and y’all usually catch the nuances and are looking for additional meaning and parallels.

A must listen
Loving this one
Honest and compelling
Good chatting session.
I enjoy this podcast, listen every week! It’s mostly just chatting about the episodes. I wish they didn’t jump around as much and stuck to a timeline of the episode. Also, I notice they don’t get into detail about the previous season. There are a lot of things missed from previous season that is brought up in season 2 but overall it’s entertaining. I especially like the cast & crew interviews.

Mayday keeps me sane
This #&;%ing show is so good but so hard to watch. The Mayday podcast is my go-to method of processing each week’s episode, and laugh at least a little like whistling in the dark.

Love this podcast
As an avid daily listener of podcasts, Mayday of the Handmaid’s tale is one of the best. I look forward each week to hearing the hosts reviews.

5 Stars Definitely
There are many podcasts out there on The Handmaids Tale & this is the only one I stick with. The rest are pretty flat and single point of view. These guys/gals are smart & educated and contribute greatly to the dialogue. Love them!
