Journal exercises to do to heal the mother wound:

  1. Journal about your mothers beliefs. What does she believe? What beliefs did she teach you or did you absorbed subconsciously?

  2. Journal around the interactions you have with you mother. Write down all the ways being around your mother brings you stress. Is it at holidays? When you talk about a certain topic? A certain thing she does? What is that situation?

Things that cause us tension around our mothers can make us feel like we have to wear a mask around her and that we can’t be ourselves fully. The second part to this exercise is writing about the pressure you feel to not be authentic. What is the source of tension within you that makes you fearful to be your full self around her? Now list 2-3 micro steps you could do to be more your full self around her.

  3. Journal about how you can set-up clear boundaries that would work for you and your relationship with your mom. Honor what works for you, not what they expect or what society expects.
