Great Podcast
Fantastic short lessons. These are great lessons that show you how to play some really tasty licks. They touch on a little theory, but they are not meant to teach you the guitar from A to Z. What they do very well, though, is give you a short, ten-minute or less lesson that you can take ideas from, and incorporate some really nice licks into your blues and rock playing. The slide lessons, in particular, are really worth watching if you are trying to figure out slide (like I am). Also worth mentioning the camera work...it's fantastic. You very often get split screen views of the picking hand and the fretiting hand, which is really valuable. In addition there are some great slowed down moments, but pitch is preserved, so you can take it nice and slow. And then you will occasionally get the tab/notes written out following along with the music. It makes it really hard NOT to get the point. Very well done!

Won't play on my Ipod
I subscribed and downloaded the latest lesson and it worked fine and the lesson looked good, so decided to start downloading all the lessons from the beginning, but it says the first lesson won't sync to my Ipod. Anybody else have that problem? What's the deal??

don't use blues
look, i know blues is the heart and soul of rock and roll, but i really think this guy should consider playing more interesting songs and solos. for instance, i tought myself how to play iron man-black sabbath, and smoke on the water-led zepplin. now those are awsome songs. please consider

good stuff to know
It is a little hard at first to understand what he is saying but it really has helped me. I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn short parts on the guitar fast.

Blues lick like SRV's Texas Flood
Pretty cool lick. The only thing you might change is the vibrato. It sounds too fast. Good work.

like it like it
I just watched the blues SRV podcast and really like it. I wish I could actually get it down as easy as you make it. I may be too far behind as I did have a little trouble getting all the finger movements exact.. good stuff overall for someone who is already playing and wants to take it up a notch.

Great sounding blues guitar
I liked hearing those great blues guitar licks, I am a jazz guitar lover at heart but I also love hearing great blues guitar players also. I will take some of these blues guitar ideas back to my jazz guitar playing. Thank you John

Excellent - I'm primarily a keyboard player but I am inspired that I just might be able to play a little bit better guitar! :-)

Blues guitar lesson on how to play an intro similar to SRV's Texas Flood
John's podcasts are well done and very helpful to a beginning guitar player. I really like the way he breaks down each section and illustrates the method he is demonstrating in an easy to understand manner. He's a fantastic guitar player, and his teaching style makes me think I will get better applying his techniques. Thanks, John.

A few Tips
Hi, I highly enjoy your pod cast because it has helped me learn lots of new things on my Strat. I just started playing guitar last year so i am still very much a beginner. The one thing that you could do that would help me learn better would be to zoom in closer to your hands or just clearly state where your fingers are while you play. When you are demonstrating I sometimes find it hard to see which strings your fingers are on. Other than that, please place my name in the drawing for the free DVD's. I hope that you take my comment into consideration and please keep making great pod casts. Thanks, Robin Los Angeles

Great Podcast!
This podcast has helped me gain lots of new licks to put in my arsenal of guitar techniques and these podcasts have helped me be a much more accomplished slide guitarist. No complaints here just good stuff.

Tedious
Not an interesting enough fellow to listen to rambling on redundantly about how to choose a glass slide. Have someone edit your video and maybe try smiling once or twice. People like that. And maybe just try playing Amazing Grace instead of "some melody you've written" that sounds just like it. Anyone would have a better time and learn more from just picking up a guitar and any slide and just playing.

Have your guitar with you when you listen
"Learning Guitar Now" makes you want to immediately pick up your guitar and have a go at the licks that are presented. John's podcast removes a lot of the mystery of lead guitar. He interjects rock and blues history, music theory, gear reviews that include tests at different sound levels and just about everything you need to get you started. John's style is easy to listen to and learn from. I highly recommend this podcast.
