So glad this was finally closed! RIP!!
I grew up in Starkville and still have close ties to the community I am proud to say I call home. I did not know Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Crigler well. My father’s barber and beauty salon (Synnott’s Barber & Beauty Shop) was across the street from Mrs. Crigler’s home. Mrs. Crigler was a weekly customer. I would see Mrs. Jones on campus occasionally (I worked on campus) and was there several times Mrs. Crigler came in for her hair appointment. This horrible crime horrified me! I was still in Starkville at the time. My mom had been widowed a couple of years and I was petrified the sicko May strike again! I too lived alone, so I worried for myself as well. Jason, you did a fabulous job!! I know Mrs. Jones would be thrilled! I recently listened to the podcast for the second time and enjoyed it more the second time—I think just because I knew that awful man was locked up! Have begun listening to Season 2! Stay tuned for my review! Keep up the great work! Your research & presentation are excellent!

We lived two doors down from this house
My husband and I were in our mid-twenties in 1990 and lived two doors down from where this happened. We were scared half to death because no one knew who did this horrible thing. We saw the police cars outside the night it happened. So sad. Just a horrific murder that has stayed with me for all of these many years.

Sad story
Interesting and sad. So sorry for your loss. I live in a blue state and crime is horrible despite using familial DNA. DA’s in LA and SF are soft on crime so there is some irony to what your guest in episode 6 talks about. While it’s fabulous to see cases being solved and the correct person being prosecuted for a crime, turning over your DNA to a government entity does not sit well with some people.

Love the heart + message!!
I am so glad to have come across this podcast. What an incredible story! I especially loved hearing from Betty’s namesake and the power behind her name. I can relate to that personally. My reason for 4 stars is because the ads were pretty repetitive and disruptive to the play; I’m used to ads, so that’s not my issue. It’s more of an editing issue to be aware of for ease of listening. I believe it was S1E6 that had rough ad placement that repeated itself back to back. But seriously, LOVE this podcast 💜

Losing me
Was keeping my interest until ep 6, where, just like everything else in the US, right now, it is taken political….. consequences of familial dba…. How about tell the story without 45 min of propaganda. Also stop saying, ‘let’s take a quick break’ we can’t see u… there are no commercials…. You come right back. There is no break to the listener.

Hello
Don’t worry about bad reviews. I think that you seem very sincere right from the start. I hope you solve your grandma’s murder ❤️

A Must Listen
It is heartbreaking to hear what y’all are going through but I must say you did a fantastic job with your podcast. Oh and I adore Sgt. Lott!! If only every single police officer was like him, we’d have it good wouldn’t we? Amazing officer!

Binged it
I like the focus on the story of the victim’s lives not the gruesome details of their murder

Awesome podcast!
I only recently heard about this podcast a few days ago and binged both seasons. It is so well put together and throughly investigated. My heart breaks for the families involved and I pray they have all found a way to make some type of peace with losing their loved ones to murder. Closure is a myth, but maybe a little peace can help them. God bless you all!

Great Work
Way to put this case on the map.

Love it
I listened to season 1, so very good. Couldn’t wait till you started season 2. You turned me onto Truth and Justice with Bob Ruff. I love that as well.

A must listen!
My favorite podcast right now!

Sadly Horrible
I like to listen to serial true crime podcasts, but this one is just not good.

Extremely Well Done
Jason & Team, I am really enjoying the podcast. You’ve done a great job bring Betty & Kathryn to life I don’t know why anyone would say they found you disingenuous. I couldn’t disagree more. I definitely feel how much you you loved your Grandma Betty. I can’t wait to find out what happens.

i just started
today, i went into my library and found this unplayed. it's an amazing season podcast. i'm getting bored with the ones that change the subject every episode. great job in telling this story, jason and everyone else.

Tribute
I’m so sorry for your loss. That being said, this is more of a tribute/personal blog that’s miscategorized as “news/politics” made by an amateur musician. This guy talks about himself and showcases his white savior complex more than he does about the case.

Awesome
I think you are doing an incredible job. Very brave to go deep into your own story... keep it up.....

Skip the Q&A’s
Skip the preproduction stuff. Listen to episode one, skip all the pointless Q&A’s, try to make it through episode 2, fall asleep, realize every episode is a repeat of the first, then remove it from your library. Listen, the production quality is great. But the host tends to make the story all about him (“my grandma, I barely knew her but I love her, my grandma, my grandma” etc etc) repeats EVERYTHING CONSTANTLY, and honestly I feel like he just likes to hear himself talk. I feel as if this had a lot of potential, and fell very short.

Interesting Content
Interesting content well delivered but much much too much repetition within each podcast and throughout all chapters. Dragged out But thank you

Boring
Nothing happens. Has an intro to make you think it will be like up and vanished. He doesn’t interview anyone related to the case or discover anything new.

Well told
First podcast I have listen to. Very well told.

Is it just me or is anyone else waiting for the “Aruba, Jamaica oooo I wanna take ya” Love the podcast but interesting background music choice!!

48 Hours
I like the Podcast. I think Jason does a good job with the story. Each episode is a little repetitious but still good. I watched 48 hours before finishing the Podcast. So I know the outcome. Jason looks exactly like I pictured him! (I’m just now listening and I heard this podcast mentioned on tv. I was surprised that it was broadcast on 48 Hours, but then thought I must have heard about the podcast last week during the previews for this week 1/19/19).

Terrible
Narrator is not genuine. Using a terrible incident to create a podcast that goes no where. Fake crying and fake laughing. Very very rehearsed. Way too many ads and corny over dramatic music

Ugh...waste of my time! Slow, painful to listen to. Especially the policeman was a horrible episode. He sounded like someone’s crazy cousin describing a cop show.

Short on Substance
Repetitively covers information, including gruesome details for apparently no reason other than filling time. Nope.

I’m really enjoying this podcast because it flows so smoothly
In the following months and years changed our lives forever. My most important job was to keep quiet & look my best. I still feel that I haven’t gone thru all of the stages of grief. I’m in therapy now and am hopefully closer to peace. He died in 1972. Time to get it out of me.

Not true crime at all.
Sooooo the first episode was semi interesting but then the rest of the episodes will put you to sleep. The episodes are sporadic as hell and each episode since the first seem like filler information which they then have Q&A episodes...about the filler. There is not a lot of info on the crime they are trying to highlight and they seem like they are fumbling with how to make an actual true crime podcast. Sorry but this is a waste of time.

Great production, wrong genre
Real bad. Not true crime. Just a background piece. Dude should make a podcast about his church or cool hats or Astros baseball. Real good. You’re excellent at producing a podcast. If you went to work with a private detective or a forensic detective or somehow compiled a strong team around you, you’re gonna crush-it. I get it, it’s your first try and the case is dear to you. You’re good, keep going, don’t give up.

Not a lot of substance
All of the episodes could have been fit in one to two episodes. There is a lot of recycled material. The crime is not explained well and suspects are never fleshed out or discussed. This podcast has all the trendy music and production of a major crime podcast, but isn’t worth the listen. Save yourself the time and listen to something else. I hate to say it, but it seems like this podcast was made to sell ads.

Really into it!
Stumbled upon the podcast through a Thistle Farms IG post. Really loving it and just binged all the episodes on a short road trip. It feels personal to me somehow being from TX, a musician, now living in Nashville too and having grown up in a similar- seeming family. All I can think about is 'what if that were my Granny?!' Love hearing it all from y'all's perspective and seriously hoping this will somehow help bring justice for the families of Miss Betty & Catherine. Much love & continued success!

Love the show but...
Jason, I love the story, you have me hooked. I want to help—but you need to keep episodes coming on a more regular basis. I know you’re working on this in real time, but if you want to keep us interested, jump in to digging and putting out shows.

To much time between episodes
I'm having a hard time listening to this podcast because it's far to much time between episodes. I believe the first episode said there would be a new episode every 2 week but it's been almost a month since the last one. We need some consistency please. Over all I am intrigued by the story, I'm from Starkville, MS and I was 15 years old when this happened in our town. I hope and pray this podcast will bring a closer to this unsolved crime.

Much more personal true crime.
Wow. I hope this podcast can help the family of Betty Jones find answers. This podcast is different in that the grandson of the victim is the creator of the podcast. His interviews with family and others are very personal and it's impossible to listen to this without feeling extreme empathy. I also appreciate that the sponsors were chosen so thoughtfully. Thistle Farms and other organizations that help women are incredibly appropriate for this podcast. Wishing the best for this podcast and will continue to listen.

Wow
I can't stop listening and doing my own research. Excited to see how this all plays out. As a Mississippi State student myself, I can't help but think about how this happened in our little town.

Friend of Juky’s
I remember so clearly when this happened to my best college friends’ grandmother. I truly hope this podcast can get some answers for the families. I am a fan of true crime podcasts and this one is very well done!

Great storytelling
I loved the first episode and can’t wait to see where this leads. Praying for answers and closure for he family. The narrator does a great job of telling this story from his perspective making it very human and captivating.

Amazing
Your podcast is great - please don't get discouraged! What you're doing can not be easy, but I think you're doing an amazing job and I look forward to the rest of your journey!

Huge potential
Update: was very promising but now I see it’s way more fluff than substance. The podcaster says he was criticized for being disingenuous. He aimed to rectify that, and yet this episode (episode 3, not true episode count, because *every other episode* is a q&a) wreaks of it. I’m out. I've listened to the pre-production episodes, and viewed the trailer on their website, and all I can say is -- if you are a true crime fan, this is a *must listen*. Season officially starts next week. There's great potential for a huge blockbuster podcast here, given the talented, creative team he has put together. God speed everyone, and may this podcast lead you to the resolution you are seeking..

Engaging
If you like true crime, check this out. But unlike other true crime podcasts, you get to follow along as the investigation unfolds. The story is heartbreaking yet fully engaging.

Poor story telling and production
Halfway through episode 2 and thinking - why is this all a recap of the first episode? And then add in the completely inconsistent volumes of the speakers and you have a pretty boring trudge through an unsolved case. How about some intrigue? Some suspects? Police reports? - something for the listener to engage with.... Maybe I stopped listening too early, but I just can't get engaged with this story.

So good!
When I became friends with Jason in college 16 years ago, it was evident that he had some amazing creative gifts that he would use for making a difference and touching peoples lives. In this podcast he employs these gifts to tell the raw, compelling, and painful story of the murder of his grandmother with the ultimate goals of getting to know her better and unearthing clues to find her killer. I am so anxious to hear what will unfold in future episodes!

True crime fan
I love true crime podcast, the starting caliber of this one is amazing. They normally get better as they go you started yours with great music, tone, pace, story, and dialog. Top notch all the way. I hope this does lead to unanswered questions. And some sort of justice is served.

Too much background music!
I was so excited to listen to this podcast but it is over produced with background music when interviews are being played. Please drop the annoying noise!

Who killed Betty?
I am really excited about this being set as a podcast. My teacher was the cold case eyes on this investigation and I really do hope by putting more eyes and ears on this case that new leads will arise. Justice for these ladies and their families is deserved
Shhhhh!!!$me
Who killed Grandma Betty?
I have a love hate relationship with true crime. On one hand, I love that cold cases are being reviewed and the truth is being crowdsourced. On the other hand, I hate hearing just how much evil exists in our world. I'm enjoying listening to Betty & Katherine's story and hope to learn more about the way they lived. Fingers are crossed that this one gets solved in the end.

Great but so slow
I was really looking forward to this podcast but I feel like I've been waiting FOREVER for it to start. Episode one was great, but you could have just read the wiki page and gotten the same info. Then this Q&A episode? Come on, no more fillers. Can we get the show on the road already????? Overall, I like the style and episode one was good. I will edit this post once we get more material. As for now...boring as heck.

Weak Cashing-in
The idea to cover this story is a good one, but the wrong guy is doing it. The podcast comes off as self-indulging, derivative, and uninspired. The connection to the crimes via his grandmother does not lend license or entitle such a vanity project.
