Good concept but not giving accurate information
I was listening to an episode from four years ago about keto and mental health and I really hope that she’s updated her info now. Ketosis does not happen from eating a high fat diet, it comes from carb restriction. She repeatedly said over and over that you have to eat high fat to get into ketosis, but this is not what causes ketosis. Ketosis is caused from restricting your carbs. You can actually get into ketosis from fasting because of the absence of carbs. Telling people that you have to eat high fat to get into ketosis is just incorrect. Hopefully over the past four years she has updated this information on her podcast; but as someone looking for information on keto and its effects on mental health this morning in 2021, having this episode from four years ago pop up and give incorrect information is disappointing. There are amazing benefits to a high fat diet, but that is not what induces ketosis, carb restriction is.

At first I liked this podcast. The first one was spot on for me. After listening to a few, I realize that the host is just trying to make more money by promoting a gazillion things. She will periodically say “and now to our podcast subject”. she will then go on to many more ads that benefit her before she gets to the actual subject. I really want to continue with this podcast, but she advertises too much!!!

Hi, I’m on episaode #3. So far, learning a lot. I’m a post menopausal woman really struggling with mid body and belly fat. I listened to I think it was #130 about menopause and the androgen thing struck a chord so I decided to subscribe. All I know about keto is what I’ve heard hear so far. So, thank you! Trying to learn the right way for Keto to work for me. I have an autoimmune condition and have been struggling with weight gain because of my medication. I love your honest and open forum of discussing your issues and how to go about staring Keto. I started on January 2,2021 but as of today 1/5/2021. I have not seen any results. I’m hoping that will change. Thanks for this podcast.

Way too many ads
Decided to listen to one of the episodes while I was in the shower and by the time I was done showering she was STILL on advertisements!! It was probably the first 10-12 min of the podcast. And after 15 min into the actual talk with her guests, there was a break for yet another ad! The info seemed like it was going to be good but I gave up, don’t want to waste my time listening to sales pitches.

Ridiculous
This sow is ridiculous. I logged on for the first time and 20 minutes into the episode, still no pertinent info. When a question was asked by cohost.... 3-1/2 minutes later, she had NOT even attempted to answer it. She did say, oh, I digress..but still no answer. I turned it OFF. Will find something else that’s helpful. Don’t waste your time!!

Great Content
I’ve done keto on and off for 2.5 years now and always fall off the wagon. I so appreciate the content and that it’s specifically women! How helpful! I’m hopeful that because of this podcast I can finally turn this into a lifestyle!

Wanted to like this podcast but 3 big issues: 1) she never explains her training and education, 2) her jittery voice makes me anxious, 3) she talks too much about herself and her business and not enough about legit info. If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Keto seems to be the one tool in her toolkit used to fix everything.

I’ve listened to a few episodes, but I spend too much time fast forwarding through her constant trying to sell things. Her voice is annoying, but I could have gotten past that if she wasn’t constantly trying to sell things. Only 1/4 of the episodes are actual content. Deleting this podcast!

Life changer.
I first started listening to this podcast three years ago communing to work. Informative useful and positive stuff. This is REAL keto. Not the fake FB success stories that let me down a dark keto path, depression and weight gain and being fed up and eating every carb and fast food under the sun... flash forward to present day, and back to keto. Real keto this time. Lifestyle changes. Appreciate Shawn so much more now that I stopped frothing at the mouth with all this macro counting nonsense and stressing. Get back to the basics. Eat real food. Eat real whole natural food. Follow your heart. Thank you again so much Shawn!

I started listening to Shawn as a way to reset back to keto... the WOE that finally helped me to feel better physically and mentally. I definitely got the nutrition piece but what I also found was a place where I could dig deep into my mindset and what I could start to do to repair my relationship with food and myself. 24 days ago, I listened to the episode about meditation. I have been mediating daily since. It is changing my life. I am so grateful. I thought that I needed to work on my hormones and metabolism but what I really needed was to work on my head. Thank you Shawn for focusing on how we can finally make peace with ourselves.

Yikes. I was so excited about this podcast when I came across it but it’s so annoying that you repeat your self over and over and then recap. I listened to episode #110 on meditation. It was an hour and could have been 15 min.

Why is this podcast still called Keto for Women? I think she needs to change the name, it is misleading. Also, she is anti-weight loss. There are legitimate reasons for wanting to lose weight. As a person who lost 100 lbs. I just wanted to feel better. It is exhausting carrying all those extra pounds around. I don’t think you should tell people that they shouldn’t want to lose weight. Being morbidly obese is unhealthy. I know she came from a background of very restrictive eating but I came from an opposite place of food addiction where I had no control over my eating. Tracking macros helps me not to get off track and binge like I used to. Everyone’s food issues are different and I don’t think she should give the same advice to everyone. What works for her may not be best for everyone.

This rambling episode made no sense and having no clue who Kristen was did not help. Will keep listening as I have always gotten good info but the 100th episode was painful.

This podcast is in my top 3, for many reasons beyond keto (see what I did there, Shawn?)! Shawn is so compassionate and caring, with the most practical and down-to-earth advice and suggestions about anything Keto, Keto-related, and more. Her honesty is refreshing, and she makes you feel like you’re sitting down with one of your closest friends just having a chat. The addition of Kristin to the podcast offers a complementary viewpoint with a clear sense of mutual respect and friendship between both of them. Together they are both informative and seriously entertaining! I started listening the the KFW podcast for guidance with Keto, but it quickly became so much more than that. I missed the podcast during the 5 week hiatus but spent the time re-listening to some of my favorites, especially episode #94 where she hints at the changes to come in her podcast format and reveals some honest truths about things she has been afraid the mention before; and the episode where Shawn talks about her evolution of health through keto (I can’t remember the episode # but she starts by talking about her breakdown when she saw her last sizes on her Stitch Fix account and how she worked through it). Shawn clearly has her health and the health of her listeners at heart. Her outlook and mindset are amazing, and her vision of being the healthiest you that you can be, whether it’s healing through keto or just self-acceptance, all combine to make this podcast a must-have in your podcast library, not just for women searching for Keto help, but for any woman striving for self-acceptance and respect.

Shawn makes me want to move to CO to hang out!
I first heard Shawn on one of Jimmy Moore's shows, and I loved the repore the two had, and how both of their priorities were getting healthy. I've listened to every episode of Keto for Women since it began to air--even though I wasn't keto! THAT is how much I was impressed by Shawn, her practice, and her knowledge of nutrition and women's bodies. I've been struggling with infertility for 4 years, so I finally made the committment and went from Paleo to Keto about 3 weeks ago. I thought it would be easy for me since I'd been listening for so long, and frankly, I was a mess... Very unexpected. Then I listened to her "Things I'm Afraid to Tell You" episode, and I cried several times. It was like she knew exactly what I needed to hear. I felt sooooo much lighter and less critical of myself after hearing her honesty. She's a very important voice in both the "diet" and nutrition space and I'm glad she's doing this important work.

Breath of fresh air!
I am 51 and going through peri menopause with no real issues except stubborn weight and not being able to lose it. After following a ketogenic meal planners and speaker for about a year, I got discouraged once this person started touting her multi level marketing product. All the things Shawn is talking about is hitting home with me.

This podcast has some good information. I’ve been listening to it and suffering through all the excess chatter and the irritating voice because there really was some good stuff hidden in there. Now she reveals that she is changing direction, not eating Keto and that I need to accept that I might never lose any weight. Really? Well, I’m sure that there is room for a podcast focusing on women’s health in general. Most likely she will bring more content. But I’m here for Keto and her voice drives me crazy so I guess I’m out.

Ladies, don’t miss this absolute gem. Your health and happiness will thank you! I recently starting going to the gym again since having my son 💕 (in June 2017 😬). I have missed it so much, but my little man was not the best sleeper and between my sleep deprivation and trying to hold down a very demanding and stressful job, I’d nearly given up that I could ever return to same level of health I’d achieved prior to having a child (I did keto to help get pregnant and ended up losing a ton of weight, too). I didn’t think I had the time and I definitely didn’t have the energy. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I turned 41 and determined to make my health and wellness a higher priority and searched for a keto podcast. I was hoping a new one had come out since my days of binging on livin la vida low carb and 2 keto dudes...enter Keto For Women. Two words: God. Send. Listening to Shawn during my workouts is my new hobby. I crave it. I thought it would be more difficult to incorporate exercise back into my crazy work/mom schedules, but I’m somehow finding a way to make it happen almost every day. Little man is sleeping better (amen!) but I am 100% sure the motivation is coming from this podcast. Shawn, you are my spirit sister and I’m so excited to learn more from you - every chance I can get. Thank you for bringing me back to my center. I have been doing keto for three months and I have had some wonderful experiences with it, specifically with weight loss and improved health...to an extent. Yeast infections on my face and horrendous acid reflux has not been fun. Introducing healthy carbs (strawberries and peaches) at night and Braggs ACV was my savior. With that said, my body told me strict keto is not working, hon. I still don’t want to give up! For me, a more paleo/wild approach staves off these side effects. Thank you so much, Shawn for sharing what’s going on with you and your new direction, which I’m totally on board for! I can relate to this. It’s just what I needed to hear to validate my baby steps away from keto and taking care of my body.

Just what I needed to hear
I just listened to “Things I’m Afraid to Tell You” and really needed to hear some of the things Shawn had to say. I’ve been keto for a couple months now and truthfully it hasn’t been working for me. I already have been doing paleo for the last two years and just wanted to step it up a notch. I’m not really trying to lose weight, I’m trying to get my hormones under control, but I did expect to lose a few pounds. It didn’t happen, but I am fascinated with the idea of autophagy, so I’ll probably stick with it a while longer. I’m still trying to figure out what’s right for me and I think that’s the point Shawn is trying to get across. Thank you Shawn. I think you’re awesome. Keep up the good work!

Too Complicated
I was so excited to find this podcast as a forty something woman and I did subscribe for about 3 months. The more I listened, the more complicated Shawn made the subject of Keto. She constantly promotes her woman groups for $$$. In reality, It’s all about experimenting to see what works for you. It’s not necessary to pay $600 to work with someone. Keep your $ & buy some quality food.

My husband and I been doing Keto for about 3 months. Easily he’s lost about 40lbs. I have lost 2. 😢 With your tools, I am much more motivated to try again and also look into some gut health sips. You are very uplifting, and all I was doing was eating and looking at the scale then getting frustrated. Some people it’s too easy!! My only question would be is that I take Wellbutrin and Zoloft for depression/anxiety. I feel like they may also be stalling my weight loss? I eventually would love to be without them, but it’s a life struggle in my family. I need to decrease stress as well. Have you done a podcast on medication and Keto? 20 minutes in... all I’ve heard are stories of her personal life while she keeps saying she’s not going to talk about her personal life. Then, plugs for her programs and plugs for products. Not ONE SINGLE thing yet about Keto or women. Too many other options to suffer through this.
