Stupid liberal crap
Don’t give this podcast a minute of your time. Ugh. Weird entitled liberal spewing hate.

Please Clean Up Wed, April 13 Episode
I listen to your podcast regularly and I am glad you have returned with new episodes. However, what I heard in today’s show was appalling. Your guest claiming to be a “revolutionary Islamist” was nothing but a reactionary, bigoted, machista. He claimed the idea of American Muslims embracing LGBTQ+ or trans people as “abhorrent”. In fact, he was so emotional about those remarks that I thought he was a right wing white evangelical bigot. As a Latino man (Puerto Rican and Mexican) I’ve had to unlearn very harmful views on race, gender, sexuality, and yes, religion. In fact, it is “revolutionary” to be brought up in NYC with all these isms around me and land in a much more open and democratic view of the world. Changing the reactionary catholic upbringing I escaped to have to hear a reactionary interpretation of Islam, is not what I expected to hear on ITT. As a regular listener, I suggest you apologize to your base, inform that reactionary that he is no longer welcome on the show, and, as you suggested, do another show that shares another point of view that is more democratic, equitable, and embracing of our broader community. There are lots of media outlets that spew that garbage and you don’t need to create another one.

SO GLAD
you are back! Muchas gracias for the new format but more so for covering the border - the saddest story are the families that are dying and there’s literally no coverage in main stream media - btw - owned by white dudes- it is devastating and a disaster this country does not want to talk about so THANK YOU Maria and Julio and ur staff for talking about it- this is my go to place to hear the devastating reality of immigration policy and the reality no one seems to want to turn towards

The Best (and it makes you wanna dance)
This show is where I get much of my news. I love Maria and Julio’s love for what they do, but moreover I love their love they show to everybody. They show this through who they choose to interview, the questions they ask, and the fact that they are aware that everybody is a whole person—emotions and all. Oh, and the theme music always makes me want to dance.

A podcast not to miss!
Listening to a year in review and the comment that said that “In The Thick” was not to miss is spot on! I subscribe to many podcasts but I rarely miss an episode of In The Thick. I learn so much every episode. Thank you for the multi-layered and multi-faceted commentary.

Simply the Best!
ITT is a highlight of my listening week, consistently, through the year. Congratulations on seven years! I hope SO MUCH you will have the stamina to keep reporting and bringing other high quality journalists of color to your interviews and co-hosting. ❤️

Pero 5 stars always!
I feel like at this point I should delete all futuro media group podcasts and just leave one with all of the cross posting!

Listen to it all
I love the way Maria and Julio keep reminding the listeners about how diverse the “Latinos” in the US are. I feel that because we tend to surround ourselves with people who think like us, we also apply that to the group in general. Anddddd we’re not a homogeneous group, ie floridians and rural Texans we are not all on the same side ideologically (beyond parties but it also applies)

So important
Great podcast and essential topics

Appreciate the Perspectives
This podcast is an essential source of new analysis for me. I most appreciate the attention to topics and questions the mainstream media may one mention in a sentence if it acknowledges them at all. I find the hosts and amazing guests address the questions I want to ask, and while I may not always agree completely, I can appreciate the perspective because it centers on the people affected by policy and not just the political environment. Thank you, Maria and Julio, and the whole team at Futuro!

Love This Podcast!!!
I love Maria and Julio. Their voice and perspective is so needed, and I’m grateful to be a listener. I love their diverse guests that come on as well. Keep up the good work, and I’ll keep listening!

Love episode White Supremacy Unchecked! Buuuuuuutttt…
Ok, first off, I love you Julio and Maria and everything about ITT. I’ve been a faithful listener since 2019. Loved your POV as Latinos in the US, but today tengo que decirles esto. I also believe that -“We live in a culture that sees rest as weakness and working as strength. And our country’s public health will continue to suffer for it,” writes Karen Attiah- and I get what y’all mean, BUT be careful not to shame those many (so many!!) of us that gotta keep hustling porque no nos queda de otra! We don’t have the privilege to stop hustling, we just don’t! So yes, resting and self care and time off and bla bla bla are important, yes, yes, yes, BUT those are still privileges very often hard to reach for millions of us! and not because somos testarudos, but because like I said, no tenemos de otra. So please, how about más ánimos y menos shaming?! Que no? Still los amo foreva ❤️

Love, love, love this podcast!
I live this podcast and I can barely wait for each episode to be released. I so appreciate how genuine this space is and the balance of head and heart that go into these informed, compassionate, and passionate discussions.

Im a afro-Dominican and your last episode do not reflect the struggles we faced with our own Latinx community around colorism. Your latest episode lacked the conversation around that.

Fuels my heart, mind and soul
So, so grateful to have ITT!!! Wajahat Ali and Julio together always makes my heart happy and laugh outloud. Jeni Monet guest hosting is also incredible. And Julio and Maria are always bringing the truth and perspective. This show keeps me engaged with my global community; as Maria said, “we are living through a tsunami.” Being an empath, this show gives me space to feel. Constantly humanizing and for that I am eternally grateful.

Julio can sing - my vote
This podcast is my favorite one. I cried last week when Maria read the names. I laughed this week at Julio’s rendition of Caravan of Love. Came here couple years back when Wajahat Ali mentioned it. All the All-Stars are amazing and this is the journalism I want and need. Thank you.

My Favorite Poscast
I discovered In the Thick a few months ago and now I listen to every episode. It is so refreshing to hear these candid conversations about the news from BIPOC perspectives. It is so helpful to have reporters I can trust in these difficult times when there is so much misinformation and disinformation online. Thank you, Maria and Julio!!

Listening to your show is best way for me to get my news
Finding this show and all the Futuro media podcasts has been a godsend. I hate to give credit to Covid for any reason but I only became an avid podcast user when the world shut down. Your coverage into the corners of the news is so incredibly helpful, I now consider myself fully informed. Thank you Maria. Thank you Julio. Much love.

My favorite news source
This is the first time that I’ve really heard journalists speak freely about their frustrations, fears and anger. They don’t pretend to be anyone other than themselves and pour their hearts into their stories. They are knowledgeable journalists who tell compelling stories and their perspectives really make me think, and look at the world differently. Highly recommend.

Here for Law School course
I am a part-time law student and am a full time paralegal for Immigrant and International Human Rights. The episode “White Supremacy is Evergreen” was a requirement for our first class. I feel blessed to have been required to hear this podcast and come across intelligent discourse. As an aspiring attorney (and a paralegal who constantly sees the injustice our immigration system), it is very difficult to our feelings into words while not letting pessimism consume you. This gave me hope since it delineated a game plan where like minded individuals can continue to organize and fight against these pervasive issues! I feel as if my batteries have been recharged 🙌🏽

Good to hear liked-minded folks with great analysis
This podcast gets me inspired as well as through the tough times. I so appreciate hearing the real story missed by main stream media. I also admit I snuck away to listen to it during the holidays with family when I got tired of my relatives telling me they weren’t racist. “In the thick” take me away!!

Not “same old, same old”
This program really is different from any others I’ve heard. You really do hear what’s missing from mainstream news.

West Side Story
Really disheartening episode. This episode makes it clear how cultural critics gloss over and delegitimizes the work done by latinxs on this film. The film of course shouldn’t be the only Puerto Rican representation. Latinxs still do not get hired in Hollywood outside of comedic and action narratives that often play on stereotypes and cliches. To not interview anyone in the industry itself, nor the performers who fought for the exact arguments made in this episode while making the film, nor to discuss any of the art itself but only its potential impact, robs this discussion of furthering the conversation past ideas repeated again and again on this show about representation without any nuance that the performers fought hard for. One of the actors left the industry due to lack of roles. It is a desert for us performers and to not even discuss our work as its own progress made this episode feel like an echo chamber to those of us working in the field. There was so much work done by performers to do exactly what is mentioned in this episode when we are constantly denied agency. Watch more than the trailer before you critique something. It is almost impossible to get anything made in Hollywood or theater about our communities because producers are overwhelmingly white, cis, straight and male. And yes, Kushner met with academics at Hunter, did research for months in the archives there, Spielberg went to Puerto Rico and met with community leaders. Poorly researched episode lacking nuance. And yes I agree with the arguments made. But are we just going to spend decades repeating ourselves?

I love ITT!
My newest favorite podcast — I go out of my way to listen to new episodes as soon as they hit my feed. As a white person, this show is not about me or necessarily for me, and it’s awesome. The humor, reporting, perspective, and honesty brought by Maria, Julio, and their guests is unmatched.

I love “In the Thick”
This white person (AKA me) trying to be anti-racist and broaden my Media landscape. I have found this podcast to be so informative, lively and irreverent in the best ways! Move over NYT and WaPo - so tired of the frenzied polling they cover of fearful, entitled white people and lame coverage of national issues.

A new favorite podcast
I have always enjoyed Maria’s reporting, so I was thrilled to see this added to her lineup. In 2021, understanding the intersection between politics, race, and culture is as important as ever to helping shift the culture and the systems that hold us back and keep us locked in vicious cycles. Thanks for helping shine a bright light on the messiness.

Best 500 political podcast episodes!
This is a powerful podcast wi the knowledgeable hosts and guests. The conversation is insightful, timely and necessary.

A valuable perspective
I read and listen to the news for my left leaning update on what is going on in the world, but it’s a white perspective. This podcast gives me the POC perspective that EVERYONE needs to hear. The reporting is rigoureus. The guests are diverse, and give an educated and informed perspective on current events. I wish I felt warm and fuzzy inside after listening but I am grateful that I am not under the delusion that things are getting better.

Don’t miss ITT
This is my favorite news source. Maria and Julio are rigorous, authentic journalists who cover all the important stories without pulling punches or burying the lede. They are equally outstanding when they’re on the ground documenting the stories of the unheard as they are when they’re connecting the dots across different issues to illuminate larger themes. I’ve been dropping old pods for Futuro shows ever since I found ITT. Julio and Maria are sharing exactly what you’re missing from corporate, white-dominated media like NYT and CNN. Don’t miss ITT.

Excellent podcast
Excellent and so needed. It is so important so hear Latinx and POC voices helping everyone understand our complicated world. When the media is completely saturated with the view of mostly white cisgender men, content created by people of color and people that simply are not white men is extremely important and refreshing. So thankful for Maria Hinojosa for leading the charge.

Losing Latinidad
I am constantly saddened by the attacks on Latinos regarding the “lack” of inclusion on the black narrative in the stories told. I acknowledge and agree with the colorism in our culture- but I NEVER hear the opposing voices towards black communities regarding their lack of recognition of the Latino within their stories. Why is it always the Latinos being attacked when I don’t hear anything from Con Negro regarding the Latino within?

Refreshing to Hear POC Point of View
We tend to ignore the bias of NYT or other media conglomerates because of it’s name and our assumption that it’s “balanced” journalism. I’m looking for the perspective that isn’t being influenced by big corporations and that is grounded in my community. Thank you for all you do!!
