I quit my job of 23 years without another job after one year with a horrible boss. I’ve listened to many podcasts to wrap my head around this situation and this is the by far the best work podcast. I immediately subscribed to Wondery after the first episode because it’s the perfect blend of real-life scenarios, humor, and good advice.

Well boy, do I have a game for you! Just search “Whack your boss” in google and let out all that rage! Me and my friend used to play that game all the time in school! Go on, and have fun!

This podcast answers so many questions about work place issues and how to best resolve them for YOU. I learned a lot from this podcast and plan to use the findings soon.

Such great advice and a pep talk for how to survive workplace relationships. The two hosts have a great chemistry on air and have completely different ways to handle a situation. That's awesome! I do not like the new podcast and format at all. Bring back I Hate My Boss!

I will not listen to any Wondery podcasts as long as they are associated with Mike Boudet.

But until Wondery removes sword and scale from their network, all Wondery podcasts i listen to will get a 1 star rating.

This podcast is so helpful and adds a dose of humor even. It is extremely high quality and enjoyable to listen to (not to mention learn from!).

This “American Story Tellers” Podcast may prove be good but my issue with this is that it’s been presented, advertised and effectively replaced the “ I Hate My Boss” Podcast under the same heading/icon and subscription. The new story tellers Podcast has nothing to do with work place issues or work. It would have been better to tell ppl at the end of the season of the I Hate My Boss Podcast, That it was over, but at the very least, you could change the podcast to its own independent show instead of leeching off the fans you built up by a completely different show. I’m unsubscribing for this reason.

I really enjoy this podcast even as someone who doesn’t hate their boss. Lol! I have had 2 previous jobs with nightmare bosses and can relate so much to a lot of these pleas from disgruntled employees. Beyond helping people with their dilemmas, I find they give great advice beyond just how to deal with a bad boss.

Great chemistry between Liz and Larry, very helpful advice. I'm not a fan of the Penn and Pencile sequence, but I just skip over it.

The advice is great. Especially on how to navigate the always tricky workplace social scene. The humor is much appreciated. Sometimes you just have to laugh at it all. Still, you get great management advice from people who've seen it all.

This podcast began at just the right time. I saw some situations and I kept thinking it was me. After listening to the first couple of episodes, I could say, “I’m not crazy” (at least regarding some things I saw in various work environments). Great show! Practical advice! Would love to meet the hosts!

So I'm starting my journey into the work force as a divorcee and single mom and have had a few unsuccessful experiences thus far after running several businesses with my ex-husband. This podcast had helped me identify some of the faux pas that I've unfortunately been guilty of that could have possibly have contributed to some of my woes and failures. Not only has it helped identify some of the issues, but it has helped me in other areas of my life including my general relationships with people! Liz, I LOVE your mantra STRONG, CALM, AND KIND and I have adopted it for myself. Thank you Liz and Larry. You all are awesome.

I would have given 5 stars but you guys have WAY to many commercials. Way more than any other podcast I listen to.

Is usually a condescending, presumptuous, capitalistic-jerk. Hearing her snarky comments are usually painful, and her advice is never as sagacious or healthy as Larry's. Love Larry's attempts to put himself in workers' shoes about what to say to bosses in difficult conversations. He's the real hero of the show.

Love this podcast. Navigating through a workplace is not easy and if you haven’t been in a professional environment long it can be very difficult to know what to do and what not to do. This podcast is my bible! Love the hosts love Pen and Pencil! Thank you for making such a useful and entertaining podcast!!

Regardless of the provocative title, this podcast is actually stunningly pro-boss. Instead of providing the implied defenses against bad bosses, it actually sides with the boss more than anything and tries to justify even the most hostile workplaces, even illegal activity. The Pen & Pencil segment is a complete waste of time.

The most annoying part of listening is the volume of the commercials. When a commercial is louder than the podcast it drives me crazy. Does anyone ever read these?

I listen when I'm working out or in the car. All of the advice is useful and I love the Penn & Pencil skits. Keep the episodes coming!

This was a great podcast to come across. When I first heard the title, though, I expected a lot of negative whining and ranting from people with overly unrealistic expectations about the work world. I almost didn't listen to it because of that, but out of curiosity I gave it a try. Once I started listening, it drew me in to hearing the next episode.. and the next...and the next. The advice is practical and the hosts have just the right blend of humor in their narrative without hem hawing around and talking about off topic silliness and inside jokes that don't respect their listeners' time, like some podcasts do. The information has a sufficient level of detail without being too generic or too filled with technical and corporate/HR jargon. I especially like the fact that the discussion is focused just about right. It's not too whiny/ranting about things that are unrealistic to be complaining about. But it's not too management-centric, where the message emphasizes "The manager is always right. The employee (worker bee) is always wrong." It respects people in both positions and takes an honest look at where both positions are coming from. Perhaps the title was meant to be catcy and draw listeners in? But because of the level of thought that obviously goes into the podcast, it almost seems to be selling the depth of its content short.

I look forward to this podcast every week. The hosts are incredibly knowledgeable. Topics are applicable in any job and even helpful to someone who loves their job and boss. I can't believe this is free! Thank you!

This podcast is a real life, realistic show that gives great advice about the workplace. I find it immensely helpful, and it makes me feel like I am not the only one in the world with workplace issues that I'd like advice on. Thanks Liz and Larry!!!!

I didn't think I was the target demo for a workplace advice show. I've mostly liked my workplaces, but I always figured that there was nothing I could do to make bad situations or work relationships better. The only thing I could do was to keep showing up to work and completing my actual work duties in the best way I could. WRONG! Liz and Larry have totally opened my eyes. Their advice is empowering, smart, thoughtful and compassionate. And it will allow you to feel like you have some control over your emotional state at work. You can't *change* other people, necessarily, but you can change how you deal with them and how you let them make you feel. I would honestly recommend this to ANYONE, not just people who are unhappy at work. There are myriad small ways that you can improve your well-being and ultimately help you be even more successful at work. Thanks, I Hate My Boss!

Great podcast on learning to deal with people in the work place. But the information can be used for any situation from Local PTA, commitees, clubs and places of worship... where ever you gotta work together with other people! Look forward to listening every week!

I love this podcast. I find myself relating to a lot of the people that write in. I love the advice and feedback that Liz and Larry give. I am always waiting for the next episode, I wish there were more!

Thanks for sharing your wisdom in an entertaining way so often! One request, please even out the levels of the commercials. It's very annoying when he ads much louder than the actual content. I live in a small apartment with shared walls. Help me be a good neighbor by not making it way louder all of a sudden please!

The hosts have great advice. This would be a great podcast except for: unhelpful non-relevant guests, corny non-funny skit and it has TOO MANY non-genuine host read commercials. They should just answer questions & lose the other nonsense.

I listen to this podcast during my commute to work. It gets me in the right mindset (especially Monday mornings), and is educational and entertaining. I love the perspectives of the two hosts and the way they interact. Recommended it to friends and my HR at work.

The title is catchy but Liz and Larry discuss so much more than just how to deal with a bad boss in this highly entertaining and informative podcast. Love when they take viewer questions and their suggestions of articles and books on relevant topics.

Less jibber jabber for commercials please. Show seems to scripted and tidy.

This show is engaging with its mix of interviews with inspiring people, the fictional story (& the clever way ads are mixed in) and real advice. Great job!

This podcast inspires me to be a better worker and coworker, along with understanding the perspectives of my bosses.

I really enjoy hearing different stories about people's work environments and the suggestions the hosts provide. I've worked in a lot of different industries, but am sure that I've experienced the majority of the complaints a lot of the listeners have made. This podcast has also helped know what I need to do to help myself advance in any organization. Most importantly, though, is the great stories of Penn & Pencil. It's also fun to hear the stories from the writers and creators and where they get their ideas.

I love this podcast - the two hosts are really sharp but also funny at times. They talk about tons of useful stuff for anyone, of any age, in the working world. (The only parts of this that I don't like are the Penn & Pencil skits - but it seems like they haven't been doing that as much lately.) But overall, definitely one to listen to! (ETA, one small thing: Liz Dolan is NOT a "boss emeritus" — she's a "boss emerita"!!)

Work is hard! Figuring out workplace protocol is harder! I have learned a lot from the podcast, thanks so much!
