Excellent Podcast for Wide Range of People
I absolutely love this podcast. It hits so many different audiences with science, comedy, philosophy, psychedelics and a wide variety of topics. Extremely informative podcast in a very engaging and digestible way. Some podcast have great information but told in such a way that can become boring or sleep inducing. Shane Mauss has nailed conveying wide and deep talks in a fun way that makes you want to listen to the next episode immediately. Thank you Shane for committing to doing this for us and widening our perspectives every week!

Great show
He was somewhat annoying with his schilling for the shots, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary of their effectiveness. Still, he’s quite smart and the guests are interesting more often than not. I wish he’d leave his political views out of a “ science” show. He alienated several former fans I know.

Great podcast
I have been listening for years! Nuanced and interesting conversations with experts in a vast array of scientific disciplines. Great balance - neither too dense nor too simplistic.

Mind-blowing every week! 🤯
It’s obvious Shane puts extraordinary effort in covering salient topics and finding guests that are authentic and truly have something interesting to say. What makes this show extraordinary is Shane's inherent curiosity -- he not only asks the questions we want to know the answers to -- he also asks the questions we wouldn't think to ask. Incredible show.🙌🏻

Genius
Shane Is not a genius, nor does he claim to be. What he is, is genuine, curious and genuinely curious. This podcast traverses many subjects that I couldn’t even comprehend thankfully because of Shane’s interviewing skills I actually get to somewhat understand physics, evolutionary biology and even butterflies. Thanks Shane! -johncoenartistry

The recent one star reviews are Anti-Vax
It looks like anti-Vaxers are leaving one star reviews on this Podcast. Something to keep in mind: Shane is one of the most open-hearted and open-minded podcasters I listen to. However, he is against the spread of misinformation, and against groupthink. When scientists—experts in their given field—come on his show they bring empiricism and rational thought. This enrages the anti-vax brigade to no end. Add in Shane’s thoughtful contributions, his sense of humor, and his ability to translate abstract concepts into ideas a layman like me can understand, and you get a mixture that is potent and terrifying to science deniers. Don’t listen to the haters. Instead, do yourself a favor: Subscribe to this podcast and seek out an episode topic that you want to learn more about, and make up your own mind about this podcast. You won’t be disappointed.

Still spreading fear and Pfizer propaganda. Stay in your hole Shane no one needs you. .10% percent chance you end up in the hospital if your vaccinated .89% change if your not. Chances of dying are less. That’s all misinformation though. Dude still thinks the va6661n6 works, even though you can still get c00f1d, spread c00f1d and even die from c00f1d.

Nobody knows who you are
And less than nobody cares about your ignorant leftist brainwashed opinions….. enjoy your worthless little life bud (sarcasm), everybody else will be actually enjoying theirs (not sarcasm)…. (Btw, the parentheses are because you are a dumb worthless leftie, and yes I had to say this because you are a dumb worthless leftie)

Thought you were better
Wow I guess now Shane doesn’t believe in science anymore now that he thinks the cdcs guidance is naive. Maybe you should consider the fact you’re not an expert before criticizing our trusted scientific institutions.

“Science” meets “brain fry”
Finally, everything we’ve been needing in a podcast, a C-list comedian pretending to be a scientist 🙌👏😂

Lighthearted and insightful conversations
One of my favorite podcasts! The topics range any where from physiological processes in our body to the core of who we are as humans. A great spotlight on the beauty and sludge that is life. If you hate your job, listening to this at work will increase your happiness 10 fold.

Gift to Humanity
TL;DR: I first got introduced to Shane Mauss in 2020 from his first episodes of Tales from the Trip by Comedy Central on YouTube. I really appreciated his style of comedy and was searching about where I could find more forms of his artistic expression. I then found out that he had a podcast my first thought before listening to any of them is that I will start from the beginning and listen to all the episodes in chronological order. Yes from the first episode in 2014 all the way to nearly the end of 2021. Yes this is the only podcast that I did this for. I decided that when I did finish and got up to the current most one that I would write a review. Now I want to be clear, this is my first review of any podcast or any other substantial product/service that I have received. I’m not typically compelled to write reviews, but this podcast is so compelling that I want to walk in the direction of my values and write a review. Also just to be transparent I did skip a few episodes that made me squeamish or was in a domain that I studied during my PhD. First of all, this host has so much self awareness, which I don’t take for granted. I see it come out with much beauty and grace in non-obvious ways during each episode. This salient and hard to describe characteristic is what I’m drawn to when listening. Even if at times when I’m not learning anything new from listening, I very much enjoy hearing this host talk and reframe the conversation. Secondly, this show has brought so much joy to me and has influenced me in what I would consider personally as a positive direction. It is a privilege to have existed and at the time of this writing still continue to exist in the same universe as this podcast. I hope that this show keeps going and that the host continues to stay as genuine as he is. And those of you that read all the way to end, I appreciate you.

Entertaining and informative
I have been a fan of Shane’s comedy for years. It’s clever, thoughtful, and insightful with a hint of cynicism. I started listening to the podcast a few years ago and found it really interesting. He has great, interesting guests all of the time that ARE NOT SELLING ANYTHING. Since the pandemic I have relied on this podcast because he has had actual scientist that have actually been working on COVID research and relaying the most accurate and useful information on the topic. I can’t recommend this podcast enough.

Great guests, painful host
I don’t get the other reviews here. I listen to hundreds of podcasts, and I could NOT stop fast forwarding through the hosts comments or questions. We listened to the 4.6 billion years history lesson. Gee was amazing!! Glad he was on here. Great storyteller. So with that, know you’ll lose your mind waiting for the host to get the questions out! Ah! Maybe it was just this one. We all have off days, so while I’m not saying it’s great, but the content overall was pretty good.

I love this show!
Originally when I first got into podcasts, I was recommended to listen to the DTFH podcast and while I do appreciate Duncan’s work a lot, I much prefer what Shane has to offer! I feel like the 2 are a fair comparison in terms of content style and philosophies but Shane’s interest in science and the great guests he has on is the difference maker for me! Bringing awareness to the legitimacy of science and some of the amazing information it’s provides us with is so important. Thank you Shane!

I love Shane I do; this is one of my favorite podcasts. This man had the nerve to make a penis joke in his most recent episode, which honestly had this grown woman rolling at work🤣 I will have to check out his comedy if it’s half as good as everything else he is involved I'm sure I’ll love it 🥰

Fun and informative
I was introduced to Shane through his multiple appearances on Duncan Trussell’s podcast (another great one if you’re not familiar. I enjoyed their conversations and was curious to hear more from Shane. There often is not enough humor in the presentation of scientific information, and this podcast is as informative and thought provoking as it is fun.

Learn while being entertained
I've listened to the Duncan Trussel Family Hour ever since it was the Lavender Hour, and have enjoyed the episodes that Shane was on. For unknown reasons I never picked up his podcast until this past fall and I was pleasantly surprised by it. I wouldn't call myself a science buff, but there is something appealing about a comedian asking thoughtful questions about the world around us. There is a perspective that you wouldn't get anywhere else plus the topics feel less intimidating when humor is incorporated. The covid rants are sooooo good and appreciated. I also support Shane on patreon where he has hosted some game nights and it was very cool to meet him and other people who enjoy the show in a welcoming situation. There were lots of belly laughs and I think I made some new friends. This podcast is truly special and it helped me get through the last half of a tough year.

Delicious box of science chocolates
Shane does a good job of getting an eclectic mix of guests that fall under the category of “science”, which pretty much means “anything”, so you are pretty much guaranteed to learn something new every episode, and learn it in a fun way through context of Shane’s unique comedic/philosophical questions and ideas. Occasionally there’s a bit of a “meh” episode, but even those will have some interesting nuggets.

My first thought is how could something so effin nice be real. Like really real. He said his viewership is only from 30-50 which is highly offensive and even cringe-worthy to us.

I'll give you data, research and personal experience on vaccine dangers
I'm too upset at I listen to your Dec 2020 podcast with Nina. I'm 55 years old, highly educated, and was nearly killed in 1984 when I was given the combination vaccine they just started... Genetics also play a role in my ability to metabolize many pharmaceutical products. I have numerous statistics about vaccine injuries, why people don't trust the government and can go on and on with SOLID data to back it up. Please stop making fun of those who are terrified of being forced to take yet MORE vaccinations. I also wonder why you really think any deaths caused by the vaccinations would be headline news??? What a backlash they would get just prior to being fired and called antivaxxers!!! There's so much more....

Delightful
I’ve been a casual fan of the podcast for a while now, but over the last year or so it’s become one of my staples. The show just keeps getting better and better. Shane’s curiosity, openness, and sense of humor about the world is infectious, and his guests never disappoint.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about Shane and here we are. His podcast is a wonderful mix of science, the mind, comedy and so much more! Also his film “Psychonautics: a comics exploration of psychedelics” Is fantastic! Please go check him out.

Great show / Questions Unanswered
Great Show/podcast! I love the flow and the various topics. However, as far as emotion regulation, feeling two at the same time, meaning of life, etc....There’s a very simple explanation for all of it. Yes, you can feel two emotions at the same time as I have countless times. We spend all our lives searching for an answer and getting degrees and studying it all. However, the answer to it all is in front of our face the whole time. Bottom line, it all comes down to the mind. You can make a conscious decision to simply not feel this way or not feel that way. The only difficulty we have is the world around us that has drilled a fabricated/illusionary reality into our brains from the beginning. It’s a world that we as human beings are responsible for. We created it. Not the world itself, the world or universe created us, but our conscience through evolution has allowed us to make up a difference in this and that, you and I, etc. to sum it all up, you can’t have one without the other. Happiness and sadness. Take one away, and define the other solo? You can’t. It losses its meaning. Basically, the two are different Which makes them identical. Think and you can understand the entire concept. You don’t always have to know everything there is to know to know what it’s all about. Cheers, J

What a thoughtful, pleasant, malleable, intelligent, funny host. I’ve liked Shane a lot in the past but I haven’t heard one podcast host speak about the current state of the world so well. Thank you.

Shawns laugh
Was listening to the gene editing flies episode at around the 30 min mark. The host starts laughing for like 5 mins in like the most loud dumb stoner way imaginable for way too long at a joke that wasnt funny. Had to turn it off

Stand Up/Science!
I was fortunate enough to see Shane and his traveling comedy/science show in Miami in January. Hands-down, it was the best show I've ever seen live. Engaging, funny, smart, over my head, in the gutter; you name it and the show had it. What it had was a great moderator in Shane Mauss. This podcast service that philosophy of knowledge and comedy very well. Good job Shane!

We are here, in curiosity + mind expansion
Shane is a great comedian. He’s funny and smart (I think the two are linked) but he doesn’t stop there. He wants to learn more! And in approaching the world with wonder and delight we all benefit. Asking questions and moving through new ideas without prevention or ego is something special. The world needs more of this sentiment.

My favorite pod
I have been a faithful listener for 3+ years now, and “Here We Are” is what turned me on to podcasts in general. I’ve always been interested in science but this podcast is what really catapulted my interest into a full-blown obsession and now one of my favourite hobbies! Shane finds the most interesting guests on the most interesting topics - and with every episode I am just left pondering how much more of this world there is to explore. With “Here We Are” I learn and I laugh and I am so thankful that this content is just here for the taking.
