Good advice- too much JJ
Kait gives good advice for Christian singles. She provides positivity & hope towards godly dating. I’m not sure why JJ is always on the podcast now that they are married & have a baby. If kait needs time with the baby than make it a biweekly podcast instead of leaving JJ with the mic.

An excellent resource for an anxious heart
Heart of Dating is a great collection of necessary conversations to help encourage and prepare single Christians in the realm of dating and relationships. It’s been said before (on this podcast even) that we go to college and get degrees in a field that we might not even end up employed in, but we are not educating ourselves on the topic that the vast majority of people will spend the rest of their lives participating in – romantic partnership. I’m grateful for this podcast and the other resources I’ve discovered through Heart of Dating that are helping me build a good foundation for a future relationship. The Mia Fields episode (225) is an incredible testimony, and I look forward to hearing more like it on this show!

Amazing Resource
As a Christian, who has struggled for a long time with dating, and what that looks like as a Christian, this podcast has been really helpful. I first discovered Heart of Dating when I heard Kait and JJ on the Kingdom Sexuality Podcast, and the episode was so touching and insightful and helped me so much. Since then I have been following Heart of Dating and it helps me so much. I don’t listen to all their podcast episodes, but I do follow them on Instagram and they have so much good insight!

Great Podcast BUT….
I don’t want to take off any stars because I really do love this podcast and the truth but wanted to share one possible insight. Kait is genuine and seems like a sweetheart. Since JJ has been added to the show, it seems like he is slowly trying to take over completely. Being added into the “created by” part of intro was the first thing that rubbed me the wrong way (umm no…Kait created this long before you, buddy!). I have also noticed he is quick to talk over Kait, always has to have the last word (even over their guests) and the introduction of “men only” episodes has been frustrating because where are our “women only” episodes WITHOUT JJ and his loudmouth? Thanks for all you’ve done to encourage singles, Kait!! I hope JJ can take a step back and let you (and Jesus) shine more instead of himself.

Laughter, Hope, & Healing🌟
I just went through my first relationship and painful breakup. Shortly after, someone sent me this podcast. I’ve been listening to every episode from the beginning to current! The whole time I’m listening I think, “That Explains Everything!!!” Kait & JJ know how to interview the best mentors. I have learned so much! This has brought me laughter, encouragement, hope, and healing. Thank you, Jesus, for HOD!

Such An Amazing Resource for Everyone
There is so many amazing things this show has brought to light! From much needed wisdom on big matters and relationship essentials, to the nitty gritty and small things that go a long way in how you love the person you are dating, this show is filled with insight. Especially as a guy, so many of the things that make women feel loved, pursued, and honored just aren’t talked about, and so it’s understandable that guys fail in that area. But Kait and JJ give great advice and practical tips for how to date well.

Changed My Dating Life
I got into HOD after a painful and taxing breakup, and while in a season of thinking I would never find God’s purpose in the hurt. In comes HOD and I start finding the courage to ask God the big questions and get to the bottom of my purpose - not only in dating, but also in the grand scheme of life and ministry. Now, two years later I’m dating with purpose and with love, I’m thriving in ministry, and I’ve found peace and joy in the life that God has given me. A huge amount of thanks goes to the team at HOD!

I’m Always Learning!
I really enjoy listening to both Kait and JJ on the podcast. They discuss topics that are so rich and applicable to modern day life. learn something every single time! I am grateful for the guests you have on the podcast, the book recommendations, scripture and both of your personalities are easy to connect with. I rated the podcast a 4 because the recent patreon special podcast about What we think about Celebrity Pastors didn’t sit with me right. I think that at the end of the day our relationship with God will help us discern which speakers and Pastors will help us in our walk with the Lord and bring us closer to Him. I don’t hate or dis any Celebrity preacher or speaker because they are still a child of God and as a believer I am to love others as I love myself. I think highlighting the “Celebrity” speaker or pastor that has really helped each of you would be really cool to know because their knowledge, wisdom, lived experience could help someone else listening. I appreciate your passion for the Lord and investing your time and efforts in helping others 💕I’m still listening and I’m still learning!

Inspiring and SO helpful for dating as a Christian
Seriously so grateful for this podcast! It’s allowed me to have hope that God can truly bring me the man of my dreams. Time after time Cait spotlights the most incredible love stories (herself included) how these amazing men of God exist. She also gives so much practical advice for dating. I’ve loved the episode on attachment styles, energetics of dating, and I loved the practicality of PACE in dating. So good! It’s helps me to understand how to slow down in that first exciting phase. Love this show so much!!

Christian dating truly addressed fully for the first time
The is the first time I’ve heard Christian dating conversations take such an emotionally availably, non-dismissive, and honest approach to the struggle of what it means to be single, especially long term. I don’t normally write reviews but this podcast made me realize that I’m not alone especially when it comes to long term singleness. I’ve shed tears nearly episode but my heart has finally felt seen and I’ve been heart checked as well. Thank you sooo much for the work you do. Please keep going.

A gift and a labor of love
Kait (and now JJ) has truly covered EVERYTHING when it comes to Christian dating. She balances practical guidance with spiritual guidance. She is able to be light and fun and get super deep and vulnerable. She has an incredible variety of guests, topics, and formats. Honestly this is such an impressive podcasts and truly a Godsend to the Christian community.

Just what I need even as a divorced Christian woman
This podcast has been an amazing blessing in my life, even as a divorced woman who is dating again. I wish something like this had been around when I was dating the first time a couple of decades ago. Thank you guys!

So much healing!
I found the HOD podcast about a month ago and I have bulldozed though season ten. I cannot even begin to explain the amount of healing that has been opened up. At the age of 28, I am finally recognizing and allowing myself to accept the fact that my relationship with physical touch is deeply affected by what I learned from a very young age. The openness and vulnerability you guys offer has allowed me to explore more of this uncomfortable healing journey. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone. 🤍 thank you guys.

Love your podcast!
I recently found your podcast through another podcast and it is blessing me tremendously! I’m in a really lonely/tough season right now after my engagement ended last year….but your podcasts have lifted my spirits, shared in my mindset about biblical dating/marriage, and have given me hope again. Thank you for all you do!

So good!
Love how they use scripture behind what is being said and opens the mind to a different POV. Deconstructs and Reconstructs the mind in a way that we can get rid of old mentality of gen z dating and purity culture. Has helped me mature and be more honest with myself.

LOVE this podcast!
This podcast has been such a blessing to me! I just got married about two months ago, and season 10 has been so helpful to both me and my husband. The Church doesn’t really discuss sex very much, so HOD has been a great resource for us and has normalized a lot of the things that we’re experiencing. Thank you for all you do! Your ministry is such a blessing.

I have been so blessed by this podcast! To hear from people of HEART is life changing. Those who lead with vulnerability impact the world so much! Thank you so much Kait and JJ for your love and patience and just being so real with us.

Heart changing, SO good
This podcast has been incredibly educational and has really shifted my heart posture on so many important topics. There are not many Christian leaders that are bravely tackling these difficult topics and they do it with passion, honesty l, transparency and courage. I’m so grateful for this resource and thank you for pouring so much time and effort into this podcast to reach so many singles!

Such an encouraging podcast!
I have been a listener of the podcast for several years and it has helped me see dating in a new way, as well as strengthened my faith during this season of my life. I’ve had the privilege to meet Kait and JJ at a recent HOD conference and they are such a JOY to be around. They are just as encouraging in person as they are behind the mic. I’m so glad JJ joined the podcast because it’s nice to hear from a guy’s perspective. It’s also so encouraging to see a Christian man pour into the lives of other men.

Kait gets it 🤩
I first found this podcast back in 2020 and have loved listening to it during all my stages of singleness and dating. The struggle is real sometimes but it’s so comforting to know that other Christian’s have been through it too. I’ve especially loved this season because it is such a taboo topic for singles to discuss in the church. We also have desires as singles and it’s been so healing to realize that it’s normal! Thank you to Kait for making me not feel alone in this struggle!

Have lost interest lately 🥱
I found HOD over a year ago, and initially I loved it and didn’t miss an episode. Listening to the podcast actually encouraged me to get on a dating app, and it’s how I met my boyfriend. However, lately the podcast has focused on Kait and JJ’s marriage, sex within marriage, and no longer has been focused on dating and navigating the season of singleness which is what us unmarried people are longing for. Yes, I get sprinkling a bit of marriage advice to prepare us is okay, but it’s been the focus for the last few episodes. Either this is a dating podcast or a marriage podcast. Also, there has been a few moments where it seems like your words project that those who have kept our virginity, have some sort of chip on our shoulders. We can agree that purity culture did do some damage, but it also did a lot of good when it was taught well. It sure kept me from falling into sexual sin and avoided me a lot of heartache. One more thing, can we please stop hearing “hashtag Real” in the intro, it’s so 2007. I hope this helps you guys continue to create great content for singles. Much love. ☺️

Such a blessing!
A good friend of mine put me on to The HOD podcast just a few weeks ago and no kidding, I play it every time I get in my car! So much wisdom & knowledge. Such great topics. Awesome guests. As a Christian woman in my early 30s, I can take all the holy dating advice I can get! Lol! Keep it coming Kait & JJ, we love it!

Love HOD
I have followed and listened to HOD’s podcast for years. I appreciate Kait and JJ’s authenticity, vulnerability, and willingness to talk about all topics. Not only do they talk about them, but you can tell each episode is thoughtfully planned for singles of all ages. Thank you all! I’ve learned so much!

Used to enjoy, but have outgrown
I used to really love listening to Kait’s podcast, but lately I feel it’s too “preachy” and almost like “I did everything right so I’m teaching you how to date ‘right.’” Sometimes I feel like I am being shamed for not following the Bible 100%, according to Kait and JJ’s dating experience. And sometimes it comes off holier than though. I think there is an audience that benefits from this, but I have outgrown this podcast, unfortunately

Life Changing!
I would be lost without Heart of Dating! Not only are these podcasts full of biblical truth but it’s also an awesome community to be a part of. I was single for a very long time and felt so isolated from the church. Kait has definitely inspired me in my singleness. With each podcast I felt empowered and purposeful in my season of singleness. She gets so raw and real about issues that are so taboo within the church. Even throughout my season of dating Kait offers great advice. And now that I’m in a relationship my boyfriend and I are huge fans! He loves tuning in to JJ’s man minisodes! I am so grateful to you Kait for giving us single Christians a voice, for pointing us to Jesus, and for all your support. I hope to one day invest and pour into Christian singles the way you have done for me. From the bottom of my heart thank you! 💕

Wise and Thoughtful Podcast
I’ve followed this podcast off and on throughout the years and really appreciate Kait’s perspectives on dating and willingness to address important topics that aren’t often discussed in the church. These topics are approached in a wise and nuanced way that I really respect. I don’t always agree with 100% of what is shared on the podcast, but I would say that of every podcast I listen to. Overall, I think this is such a solid podcast for Christian singles to learn from. Thanks for your ministry Kait and JJ!

This podcast was a Godsend!
I found HOD right after a difficult breakup because I was looking for things about heartbreak from a Christian perspective. Since then, the podcast has helped me realize that I’m not alone I’m my heartbreak and single journey and has challenged my perspectives on dating in really healthy ways.

Hesitant
I have a few concerns about HOD. Some episodes are helpful, and others I have serious skepticism over their biblical validity (The Energetics of Dating episode gives VERY little biblical basis to their masculine/feminine “energy” stance). Please listen with critical thinking and open Bible. Kait and JJ are a few months into marriage and yet also speak with a lot of authority and experience of marriage and giving advice that makes me hesitant (eg: How to Prepare to be a Great Husband released 6 months after he marriage at age 25). I would love to see qualified guests giving wisdom instead of mainly platforming their own voices and experiences that might not be the same for everyone.

Very fun!
I really enjoy listening to the HOD and especially this season! JJ and Kait have adorable banter and really make you think about Christian dating in a new way! However, I do want to caution you to take everything you hear to God and the Bible to decide if it is a biblical truth. Definitely worth a listen!!

Truly healing
Been listening to HOD for a long time now but this episode on Lust & modesty spoke to me so clearly. I’ve always had a larger bum and I felt so SEEN when Kait talked about how even when I pick a normal pair of jeans that fit me well, they frame my body differently. To me they’re just a normal pair of jeans that for my body right and comfortably, to someone else, they’re accentuating my backside too much. It’s led to me always trying to wear baggier tops/ blazers to cover my bum because I’ve been asked to hide that by leaders. Ever since giving my life to the lord the holt spirit has evolved my heart and I don’t feel comfortable wearing a lot of things that I used to, which is truly honoring to god and myself, as my BC life involved a lot of string bikinis that don't feel representative of me anymore. However, I’m so grateful you guys highlighted a current situation like mine, where it’s something as simple as jeans. Thanks for always talking about the hard things. I loved the questions at the end of the episode, so great to consider before dressing for the day that have to do with honoring God & yourself, not about mitigating a man’s lust. So good!

Outgrowing HOD
Update: yikes! She has had Gary Thomas on the podcast recently, when his new book “Married Sex” has harmful messages. Gary hasn’t listened to other people’s concerns or critiques. Super surprised that if she is speaking against purity culture, that she would have guests that give harmful messages. So glad I don’t follow her anymore. I enjoyed listening to Kait’s podcast although some of her guests, I haven’t agreed with. But I’m feel like I’m outgrowing it. There seems to be a lack of understanding from a lot of people who talk about dating that everyone is different when it comes to meeting their person. Yes I do agree we need to do our part, but for some people, dating apps may not be it. I’ve known people who felt convicted by God and they clearly heard from Him not to use dating apps. I think everyone needs to seek God in this area and remember dating apps aren’t the only way God works even though there is a large percentages of people who meet on dating apps. I also think it’s important to understand that you can do all you can to make your profile and look good but sometimes it really is just the timing. There really isn’t a formula and I wish her and others would realize that. I’m happy she met the love of her life but it was nice when she was single and even not dating anyone to have someone to relate to. I get she wants to cater to singles and dating but I don’t know, it’s nice to hear from someone who is single and not even in a relationship. Maybe I’ll go back to her in the future but i need a break on topics of dating and singleness since I’ve followed the advice and nothing has happened so God may have different plans for me and how I’ll meet my person.

Content is needed but hosts are grating lately
I hesitate to write this review because I’m so glad this podcast exists; the need is there and past episodes have helped me personally so much (mainly due to great guests like Tara Leigh Cobble and Rachel Sherrill). So I hope that it improves and continues to bring great guests and that I can amend this review to 5 stars someday. I’m frustrated that Kait and JJ speak with such authority, while projecting their own experiences and opinions to make very sweeping points about the church and morality, such that it comes off preachy and biased. The dynamic of the two of them without another guest feeds into this, as they only reinforce each other and seem like this self-congratulating unit, rather than fostering a much more interesting dialogue between flawed humans doing their best to apply scriptural wisdom to today’s culture, deferring to the words of scripture as the only true authority much more often, other experts and/or opposing viewpoints to address the things that are nuanced or less clear in the Bible itself. It seems like Kait holds some residual anger towards churches that have fed into purity culture, and too much emphasis is given in response to that and in condemnation of those Christians rather than showing grace and making the case for a better way, with *evidence* and scriptural analysis rather than just emotion. They lambast others’ statements and comments on their Instagram without allowing anyone to speak in response or play devil’s advocate. The often DO get to some really great points and explanations that are articulated thoughtfully with clear basis in scripture or other facts, usually later on in an episode, but those valuable parts are undermined by so much opinion-based ranting and preaching. It also seems like they’re only addressing Christians who grew up in the same purity culture they did and aspire to follow their relationship example, not those who maybe have the opposite background, or who have always been Christian but reject anything that verges on legalism / for better or worse take a more loose view morally (most Christians I know in real life have had sex with their future spouse before marriage and aren’t ashamed about it at all! I never hear those types of people addressed…) Anyway, sometimes it’s great to hear them speak together and offer their personal examples as a married couple, but I wish that was one of many personal testimonies and not the default. I’d love to see them bring in a new co-host (maybe who’s still single!) so that different opinions and experiences can play off each other as they address these complex topics, with more humility and curiosity rather than acting like they personally have authority and all the answers now.
