Better with Scientists
The episodes where we speak with scientists vs book authors or lawyers are defiantly better.

Any podcast recommended by Science Friday is going to be good, but having Jess Phoenix as host has made it outstanding!

Well, you’ll get half the facts
I tried it out with 4 shows; so disappointing. Good production quality, topics and likable speakers. Why the constant injection of politics? This makes it just one of a hundred NPR podcasts. It amazes me that people who claim they love science, abandon the principles of objectivity and completeness because their side has to win.

Rough Start But Now Hitting Its Stride!
As a longtime UCS member, I was excited when the “Got Science?” podcast first came out a few years ago. Unfortunately, things were pretty shaky back then and the was hardly worth a listen. The interviews were stiff, robotic, and amateurish. I decided to stick it out, however, and keep listening. Things began to change when Colleen MacDonald was brought in as podcast host. Her more natural, genuine, and spontaneous style elevated the show’s appeal. Better, more articulate guests began to appear, and Colleen was good at asking the kinds of questions any concerned citizen would want to ask. The choice of topics has been solid and the show has finally hit its stride. Nowadays, I look forward to each bi-weekly episode. Brian Middleton’s theme music is cool, especially that thumping bass guitar. The occasional episodes in Spanish are a welcome feature as I enjoy a chance to work on my Español. Keep up the good work UCS!

Got science?
Great podcast: Straightforward, spot on with the facts, and interesting. Who says you can’t have it all?

Dr. Elena Krieger Has horrible vocal fry
It’s amazing to me how somebody who apparently is as smart as Dr. Elena Krieger has so little self awareness of what she sounds like. It’s like listening to the Kardashians. Does she actually think she sounds cool or smarter.Sounds more like a teenager valley girl than an accomplished scientist. I had to stop listening even though what she was saying was important. Those who know her or have her on their show should do her a favor and play recording back to her so she can hear what she and the Kardashians sound like.

Straight to the facts. No BS
Love this podcast. Episodes aren’t massively long, they hit important and interesting topics in the world of science, and it’s all provided in a factual context that is refreshing to see these days. Great job UCS!

Inspired my Literature Review!
I nonchalantly played the episode on carbon emisions and rice over winter break and was blown away at the clear issues Dr. Liska experienced at the USDA. Now I’m reading his research and studying this further for my lit review! As a future Registered Dietitian, this episode concerned me, since RD’s are supposed to lean heavily on USDA data. Thank you, UCS, for bringing light to such topics! P.S. Dr. Liska is speaking at my university in a few months! So excited.

A fascinating, wonky dive in what’s truly important
I love the detailed, well organized, informative sessions with unique perspectives on things that formed and continue to mold our lives and world around us.

Thanks much to all at UCS
I am truly grateful to everyone at UCS for their critical work in standing up to the administration’s efforts to weaken the Endangered Species Act and environmental protections. This podcast is great for informing us about scientists’ key role in the United States’ efforts to slow and stop the global climate emergency.

YAY FOR SCIENCE!!
I love this podcast! Since I’m not a scientist myself I’m so grateful there are smart folks out there doing amazing work everyday. This podcast makes me optimistic about the future knowing there are people fighting for facts and a better future for us all. Thanks got science!!

Always fascinating
Great podcast! Even if the topic doesn’t sound all that into, it always proves fascinating.

Activism, not science
This is a poor representation of science and scientists. I am in favor of a scientifically guided public policy, but you won’t find it here. How do you know you are listening to a discussion about science? There are discussions of evidence, implications, and potential alternative causes for observations. How do you know you are listening to a discussion about activism? Discussions are one-sided, alternative viewpoints are countered with disparaging remarks about their proponents’ motives, and you hear more political jargon than science jargon.

Get it!
Consistently interesting and informative, the podcast is often realistically optimistic and is always accessible. They cover a lot of things with more depth than you’d expect in a “short” podcast.

Thanks for facts
I especially enjoyed the 50th Anniversary about the Union of concerned Scientists. Great show. You’re always concise. As you say, science has always been political, but it must be scientifically based.

Well researched science show. It’s only agenda is presenting facts. Love this show!!

Got Hyperbole?
I wanted to like this show but it’s just not coming from an objective viewpoint. I guess I expected less of an agenda from the scientific community.

Cringey left leaning politics
Hard to enjoy a science podcast with so much politics.

Great job!
I love the podcast and I understand the political tone to it because it really is important but I’d like to hear some non Trumpocalypse science once in a while.

Excellnt interviews on important subjects
Excellnt interviews on important subjects Hear from actual scientists. We hear much too much from politicians and economists.

Praise
For fighting ignorance, greed, duplicity, un-earned self-importance, and treason. They say “can’t fix stupid”, but you CAN dedicate your efforts to ameliorating the damage. Nice work, please keep it up, it’s now critical.
