This makes Iran’s retaliation a RESPONSE, not an unprecedented “attack”. If Israel did not want this, they should not have bombed Iran’s Consulate, killing Iranians on sovereign territory. That was out of line. Period. Now the two are “equal” in war terms. I do not support war and violence in general but do not misrepresent the facts and portray Iran as being the aggressor here, deserving of yet another Israel strike. The BBC’s coverage of Israel’s war in Gaza is shameful, but the 11/jan/24 episode was too much, even for them. Their usual un-subtle pro-Israel bias, the way they qualify with “Hamas-reported” every single time they must mention the almost 30k Palestinians that have been killed by Israel to invalidate them. The way they focus mainly on the Israeli victims of oct 7, 3+ months and 22,000+ dead palestinians later. The subtle and unsubtle ways they simply gaslight listeners. Just shameful. A disgrace, that a “respectable” legacy, traditional news source uses its prestige to bend the truth and disrespect facts just every single day now. To think that people rely on them for news, and eat this misinformation up, is just appalling.

Shame on BBC for broadcasting recordings or any representation of hostages made by combatants holding those interviewed. Broadcasting audio recordings of an elderly Israeli held by Hamas as if the portrayal represents anything other than the interests of the captors is so inappropriate, invasive and absurd as to represent a total disregard of a vulnerable person. BBC may be without a moral compass, or without a business ethics compass, if this is considered acceptable.

Some say it leans left or even supports Hamas. I don’t agree. To my ears it is reporting what is happening in the world, not placing a value on it.

I am appalled that the people running this trash take the words of terrorists as established facts, and complain that the Israelis need to just ‘get over’ what happened on 10/7. This one sided bigotry has forever ruined my faith that this network has the capacity for any objectivity whatsoever. large, well, sourced, international news organization… the lefty bias is not as bad as in some other outlets, but it is still prevalent. for instance, when they talk about Trump, who I am not a fan of, but what an outfit like the BBC cannot comprehend is that Biden is every bit as scummy as Trump, just in different ways. they have been just tripping over themselves of late to show "both sides" about Israel, even though there is absolutely zero moral equivalence in this struggle, sorry to say to all you Jew-haters reading this. but what really wore me down over time is the incessant, neverending climate crap. They just hammer you over the head with it. Any story remotely related to the weather goes to the front of the line… And of course every weather event is connected to, you guessed it, "climate change," the modern world's most virtuous secular religion. Your coverage of the Israel-Palestine conflict gives significantly more space to Zionists and people who support Israel’s genocide than you give to people who want to situate this conflict in historical settler colonialism. You are creating a narrative that erases the history of ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism in Palestine that led to this conflict. I just listened to this podcast for the first time. Having been an admirer of the BBC and its journalistic standards my whole life - this was a bit shocking. Within minutes it was reported that Tupac Shakur was shot on the “Sunset Strip” (in L.A.) not on “The Strip” in Las Vegas and that Harvey Milk was the “predecessor” of late Senator Dianne Finestein. If I am looking for fact-adjacent copy, I might as well turn to Vice News. That was sobering.

When discussing the extermination of indigenous communities (American Indians, Armenians, etc.) false equivalencies are all over the discussions on BBC.

I use to trust the BBC for its objective values but since the overwhelmingly one sided story is all that matters now I feel quite embarrassed to be British. Suppression of facts they dislike and exaggeration of those they do in matters such as Brexit, American Politics, the Pandemic even the war in the Ukraine have forced me to regard the BBC as just another CNN or Fox News outlet.

I had car and phone booted up bbc news on car and phone it said it would rain a lot lot then it was synced at the same time the phone said it would rain 87 percent the car said the same thing so… accurate!

I was shocked to hear that a BBC reporter was blaming former President Donald Trump for denying COVID could be from a lab leak, and praising current President Joe Biden for being open to the concept of a lab leak. If the reporter/BBC investigators had paid any attention to the US government in the past 3 years, it was the Democrat party and Biden administration who closed down talk of a possible lab leak and worked with media to limit any discussion of the lab leak theory. I am aghast at the lack of thorough reporting on this issue. It is more complex than “Trump bad, Biden good”. I expected more from BBC.

I like it because as an American, all the news podcast episodes are about America, and I want to know what’s going on in the world. That’s where the BBC world service comes in handy.

Love the presenter and the overall tone, wish you would give a little more light to the illegal occupation of Palestinian Territories when covering it like you do when mention the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territories for example, but overall love the content
