Worth getting into!

discovering you all a decade late has left me with the most wondrous backlog! halfway through twilight mirage and i can’t believe how many amazing stories are yet to come. finally restarted my own ttrpg group with my friends thanks to y’all motivating me to do so!

I listen to a lot of actual play podcasts, but Friends at the Table will always be my favorite. Come for the phenomenal world building and revolutionary storytelling. Stay for the funny hosts, larger than life characters with ridiculous names, and episodes that make you laugh and cry multiple times over. I’ve never reviewed anything but I had to with this show. It’s good!

I’ve been listening to this podcast for 8(!) years, and every time I think the cast has peaked, they outdo themselves again. If you like thoughtful storytelling, expansive sci-fi /fantasy world building, BEAUTIFUL music, and people having fun playing tabletop, FatT is for you!

I love this show. There’s a great combo of compelling world building, moving story, and just plain fun. It’s great for taking a long walk, or listening while doing a repetitive task, though I have occasionally had to stifle laughter at work.

This podcast has genuinely some of the best storytelling I’ve ever experienced. They are all amazing storytellers. These are some of the most radical, revolutionary stories I’ve ever heard. Austin’s intros to Palisade specifically are so freaking good.

I’ve listened to this show on and off since high school, and now am extremely devoted to the show itself and this team and their various endeavors. If you really get into the show, you’ll probably get sucked into the cast as people as much as the characters they all play so well. Marielda was where I started and while it’s dated now it’s still a favorite of mine.

The only actual play podcast I have ever enjoyed.

I have never liked any media more, and will never again. I have failed as a podcast listener for not rating sooner. Truly the best podcast there has ever been, no contest.

I’ve been listening to this podcast for a while. One of the elements that has really started to stand out over time, is Jack. The ability to create powerful music that is just amazing for the moment. A genius. I understand why there are offers to purchase the music created… Because genuine artists deserve to be able to pay their bills… they make the world a more beautiful place with their talents of immersion.

It’s a smart show about folks that love telling stories together. The characters are always interesting and they showcase some incredible game systems that I would have never known about without listening to the show. Can’t recommend enough!

This show saved my life, plain and simple. I found it as a fan of Austin’s work during a very difficult time and it helped me work through it by providing a much needed escape for my brain. Cut to five years later and I’m still as big a fan as I was then, if not more. Better worlds are possible.

Started listening to Partizan because I was interested in the system, I have since listened across multiple seasons, games, and campaigns and have accidentally had the way I think about ttrpgs changed forever. Thanks y’all

imagine the greatest story ever told, now make it queer, revolutionary, and all wrapped in a shell of the best that the current golden age of indie RPGs have to offer…. what you’re left with is Friends at the Table.

This has always been my all time favorite podcast. The past seasons I would give a 5 out of 5 stars. How this current season I would give a 2 out of 5. It has been become so painful to listen. I will return when the new Sangfelle comes back.

This may be my sleep podcast, but I listen and relisten until I have the whole stories. … and then listen again and again like it’s my mom telling me bedtime stories. These folks are fun to listen to, smart, create great characters, solid stories, details, and their banter is fun too.

Austin is a genius, and this podcast has some of the best worldbuilding and in-game presentation of complex ideologies that I’ve ever seen. 10/10

F@TT my beloved. The tablefriends are not only clever and funny, but so collaborative and great listeners—better than any ttrpg show/podcast I’ve tried. Everyone brings something different to the metaphorical table, and everyone’s so excited by that! It would be remiss of me not to mention, but Jack also makes INCREDIBLE music for each arc. I listen to those albums all the time. If it seems daunting, try the first bluff city arc! It’s short, but SO funny and SO good. Been listening for years, but they gave me an iphone for work and I don’t think I’m going to use it for anything except leaving 5 star reviews for my favorite podcasts. F@TT is the first one.

I’ve spent more hours consuming friends at the table than any other piece of media in my life at this point… and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Beautiful and brilliant story telling from a group of funny and wonderful friends.

Friends at the table has been a show I will drop everything I'm doing to listen to as soon as a new episode drops. Been listening for close to a decade and over the year they have told some my favorite stories period.

Truly excellent. Manages to be consistently intelligent, thought-provoking, curious, tender, entertaining, and hilarious all at once.

COUNTER/Weight was the best mecha show ever, until I heard PARTIZAN. All the other seasons rule too, and I could listen to the music exclusively forever and be happy. The hits keep coming.

They tell great stories. Everybody in the group brings something different to the table, and they are amazing at working together and playing off of each other. They all put serious thought in what types of stories they want to tell about their characters and the world that they’re playing in, and it pays off big time.

This show takes the framework of an Actual Play Podcast and uses every element of the production; the music, the intros, the game system, the show notes, every piece is used to tell a fascinating and exciting story. From sci-fi to fantasy to weird-west-horror, every season plays with genre in a way that sparks the imagination. And just in case I’m making it sound to serious, in the last episode, when the tension was at its highest (a bomb was about to go off that would destroy the planet and literally end the season) the action ground to a halt while the whole cast cut up and made water drop noises. Great show, 10/10
